CHAPTER 13
Realization soon hit me. There was no way that I, Daisy Nickles, was going to let someone get the upper hand!
I Impressively unraveled myself from the clutches of the muscular arms, giving him a rough elbow to the gut in the process. I owe it all thanks to my years of martial arts when I was younger. I then swiftly leaped further away from the tall body that was behind me.
"Forgot you knew how to do that," he cockily smirked at me while rubbing his now sore stomach.
My expression hardened at the face of said man. "Did you think that was funny?"
His smirk disappeared as he put on a serious look. His ice blue eyes piercing my warm, almost black eyes, coldly. "Well how else was I supposed to get you to talk to me?"
I folded my arms under my chest, turning my head slightly to the left, avoiding his gaze. "I have nothing to say to you Chad."
His steps got closer to me. "Babe I-"
I quickly shot my head over in his direction. Anger and frustration washing over me. "I'm not your babe! Not anymore. You lost your right to call me that when you hooked up with Lindsay."
His eyebrows softened up as he looked down at me. "That's why I've been trying to talk to you. You've been ignoring all of my texts and blocked me on all of your socials."
"Are you seriously surprised?" I chuckled out at his stupidity. "And to finish off what I've started, I'm going to ignore you...right now. Enjoy the party, Chad."
I smirked successfully as I saw the annoyed look form on his sculpted face. Making sure I was close enough, I flipped my luscious hair on him before I strutted back into the ballroom.
The music was loud as people were talking and dancing on the spacious dance floor. I made my way over to the table that was reserved for me and my clique. The head table, if you may call it.
My eyes narrowed at April, Gwen and the other heads of girls that were seated. But those idiots couldn't even distinguish my beautiful presence, so I had to clear my throat in order for them to acknowledge me.
"Oh, Daisy! You look totes gorgeous, girl!" Gwen kissed up.
"Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Gwen," I smirked sarcastically.
My patience was running thinner and thinner as no one was going to mention the elephant in the room. The elephant that had honey blonde hair and blue eyes.
"So is anyone going to tell me why a certain someone may be in attendance here this afternoon? Hmm?" I questioned.
Everyone looked back and forth at each other nervously. No one obviously getting at who I was hinting to.
Surprisingly, however, April seemed to get the message. "Oh, I forgot to tell you that Chad and the rest of the football team are here! So try to avoid him if you can. I know how awkward it can be to run into an ex-boyfriend."
"Well it's too late for that!" I yelled at the now frightened blonde. "That d-bag just cornered me into an empty hallway! Why did you let him in here?!"
"I'm sorry!" April covered her mouth. "But you know that I sent out the invites to all the popular people in our grade months ago!"
I sighed, knowing that she was right. I knew just how difficult it would be to change an entire guest list once the legit invites were already sent out.
"Well whatever," I said, taking my seat at the head of the table. You would think that since it was April's birthday she would have it, but let's not forget who the real queen bee is here, shall we?
Taking a sip of the strawberry lemonade that a waiter handed me, I soon heard an annoying, squeaky voice come up behind me.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the M.I.A. Princess herself, Daisy."
I smirked, not even taking away from my glass. "Get your honorifics straight. It's Queen Daisy to you."
"In your world maybe. I see you're still rude as ever, can't you face me when I'm talking to you?!"
I sighed, maneuvering in my seat to face my arch nemesis. "Lindsay, why are you here? Can't you see that nobody except for you little minion back there enjoys your company?"
I shot my eyes at the curly redhead, raggedy Anne, looking girl standing stupidly beside Lindsay. What was her name? Lily? Lola? Bola? Oh well, they are both irrelevant anyways.
"Pay no attention to her, Lacey," Lindsay rolled her eyes to her friend. "Daisy is just jealous that I managed to steal that delicious jock of hers."
I almost barfed in my mouth at her ignorance. "Oh please, you didn't take anything that I'm not letting you have. Hope you have fun with my leftovers though."
The entire table giggled at my comeback, leaving a frustrated look to be left on Lindsay's face.
"And will you give it up already, Lindsay?" Chelsea, another member of my posse spoke up. "Chad already stopped hanging out with you, and has been telling everyone about how clingy and annoying you are."
"Oh and don't forget desperate!" Jessica added in.
The entire table roared in laughter as Lindsay puckered her lips and furrowed her brows. She was probably getting embarrassed and angrier by the second.
"Just you wait, Daisy. I'm going to end your reign if it's the last thing I do!" Lindsay steamed before stomping off, with her lap dog following.
'Good luck, dummy,' I thought, rolling my eyes.
"You can't mess with the elite!" Gwen yelled to the back of Lindsay.
"Well it's about time she left," April rolled her eyes.
"Hopefully she went to get those dark roots and bad trim touched up," I said.
"I know right. She's still pretending to be a natural blonde," April smirked, flipping her naturally golden hair over her shoulder.
The music then changed to more upbeat tunes, making everyone get up and start dancing. The party then dragged on without a hitch for hours.
Natalie had surprisingly adapting very nicely to the whole pretending to be rich thing. All of my friends thought she was great and no one suspected a thing. Then when April opened her presents, she said that the Valentino bag I gifted her was the best present of all. Well duh. I had spent weeks looking for the perfect one that she kept going on and on about wanting.
Oh, and to top it off, Chad didn't bother me once. Well, unless you count the endless amount of times that I caught him looking over to me from his jock table, or when he was throwing daggers at me while I was dancing.
------
The natural lighting that shown in through the giant windows in the room was getting dimmer as the warm sky above the grassy, golfing hills turned a red-orange hue-- signaling that the sun was now setting.
As the party was wrapping up, I made my way over to Natalie who was stuffing her face at the chocolate fountain bar.
"Ready to go?" I asked her as she stuck another stick of marshmallows under the milk chocolatey waterfall.
"Just as soon as I get some chocolate covered strawberries too," she said, eyes only fixed on the food in front of her.
"High class people don't bring home plates of food from fancy parties. We eat here and then leave," I stated.
She turned around to me with a hurt expression on her face. "So I can't get a to-go box?"
"No," I rolled my eyes as I dragged her out of the ballroom, making her leave the filled up plate behind.
Saying goodbye to the majority of people who were leaving out as well, we eventually made our way out of the venue. After the valet brought the Mercedes around to me, Natalie and I soon hopped in.
Too bad we didn't even fully make it out of the parking lot.
"Um, why did the Benz stop?" I asked, quizzically looking at the steering wheel.
Natalie looked over at my side and stared at the gas fuel panel.
"Daisy."
"What?"
"..."
"YOU FORGOT TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK!"
"Ew! Does it look like I know how to pump gas?!" I asked disgusted. "I always had my old butler or maid do that."
"Well then why didn't you say something before we left? I could have filled it up!" Natalie replied back.
"Because I thought we had enough to make it from here and back," I rolled my eyes.
Natalie sighed before going in her purse, pulling out her phone. "I'm going to call my mom to pick us up."
She waited for an answer but instead got sent to voicemail. "Ugh, she's not answering."
"Oh what? Don't tell me you guys are so poor that you let your phones get cut off," I complained.
Natalie shot a narrow look at me. "Noo, she's just not answering."
"Well great! What do we do now?" I huffed, placing my hands on the wheel.
"We could have have one of your friends drop us off back at home," Natalie suggested.
I turned to look at her with an 'are you serious?' look.
"...Or maybe not," she said as her head hit the back of her head rest.
Sighing, I took out my phone from my white shoulder clutch. "There's only one person I know well enough that can help us. Let's just hope this doesn't stroke his already huge enough ego."
