Rich kids boarding school... what fun!(?) Chapter three

3

Natalie's POV

'Jesus Christ, pull yourself together' I said into my mirror, as I brushed my hair that morning 'get the hell over it. Everything will be fine, just fine. Like how it was before.'

Now I was arriving I didn't really believe it anymore.

Shit. I had to see him every day. Every day. And pretend I didn't care. Pretend he hadn't been running through my head every single fucking day since he broke my heart.

Christ, now I was crying. I took a tissue out of my bag and wiped my eyes. Pull yourself together, I reminded myself again, you can't cry on your first day back. People have to think your over him, they have to.

I patted down my hair and breathed in, climbing out of the car and into the annoyingly bright sunshine. Great another year in this place. And it was going to be different from last year, but not in a good way. I had him last year.

No one was waiting for me, they were either inside or on the field or something. Bitches. Well, I could hardly call any of them friends. Jasmine was going to be late anyway, she and Jason were probably having a make out session in the limo. Shit, that should have been us.

'Hey Silkie, you never called me back' I heard Skye call out just ahead of me. Silkie turned back to look at him, with her trademarked bitch face.

'Fuck off Skye' she said. I wondered briefly whether making friends with Silkie this year might be a good idea, I had basically copied her since I was twelve and maybe now I could take over from her when she was gone. That would let him know I was over him, even if I wasn't.

I was about to call out her name then my eyes fell on a sight that made my stomach churn. Kevin was talking to some girl, flirting with some girl, with legs up to her armpits and a foreign look about her. Shit. I bit down on my lip and rand quickly, almost crashing into Skye who was walking towards them. Please stop them.

I ran straight into the girls toilets, then sat on the toilets and sobbed.

I love you.

How much of an idiot could I be? Of course he wouldn't say it back. I had known he didn't love me hadn't I? He never showed me, sure I was his girlfriend and I knew he liked me, but it was never passion. He never surprised me. He even forgot my fucking birthday.

Stop it Natalie.

I bit my lips harder then walked outside, checking my reflection in the mirror. I would just get another boyfriend, that was it. It would be easy. I was pretty, I was popular and I knew guys, loads and most of them were a million times better than Kevin.

But I didn't love them.

Shut up. I put on some lipgloss the walked to my room, I could just stay there for ages and unpack no one would care. It's not like I wanted to see those bitches who called themselves friends again. Jasmine would come to the room straight away, hopefully without Jason and we could just have a normal chat about the summer and I wouldn't have to think about fucking Kevin Le Costall.

Mrs Natalie Le Costell.

I felt sick then open the door. It was just like a remembered it from last year but there was a girl sitting on what used to be Fiona's bed (she'd gone to live in France over the summer.) Who the hell are you?' I asked.

She turned round and my heart dropped. It was the girl, that girl who Kevin had been flirting with. She smiled 'Hi. I'm Nerina.'

Nerina's POV

'Hi. I'm Nerina.'

The girl just stared at me. Her mouth open stupidly. She had the kind of white blonde hair usually reserved for pre-schoolers that was cut to a cute pixie style and deep grey eyes. She looked only about five foot two and sort of like a fairy. 'What the hell are you doing in here?' she demanded.

'Umm' I hesitated, she looked angry. I couldn't work out why. 'Well I'm new and they gave me this room' I said apologetically.

Her eyes flashed for a moment then calmed 'oh right. Replacing Fiona right?'

'I guess so.'

'Hmm' her eyes raked me for a second then she dumped her handbag on the bed nearest the door and smeared some lipgloss over her already shined lips.

'So, what's your name?' I asked.

She looked back at me, as if she's forgotten I was there which wouldn't be surprising. 'I'm Natalie Le Costell' then she suddenly winced. 'Shit' she yelled suddenly, kicking her bed with her high heels 'no, I'm Natalie Staliettio.'

'Oh right' I smiled 'your mum's a fashion designer isn't she.'

'Yes' she said, taking off her high heels and throwing them under the bed. She was angry, I couldn't work out why though. 'What family are you from then?' she said, unpacking her bag vigorously.

'Cassidy' I replied.

She stopped and turned round to stare at me. 'Cassidy. Cassidy, you're kidding me. How old are you?'

'Sixteen' I said.

'Are you Silkie's sister? I've never heard of you.'

'No' I said 'we're step sisters, for a month now.'

'Stepsisters. 'And with Kristy-Mei and Steven?'

'Yeah.'

Natalie smiled 'hi Nerina' she said, then went back to unpacking. I looked down at my empty bags, it had take me five minutes to unpack, and my clothes barely filled half the cupboard. I stared out the window, watching people lounge around on the crazily green grass and people arrive at the steps.

'Who else is in this room?'

Natalie turned round, 'Jasmine's over there and Blake's opposite you' she pointed to the unoccupied beds.'

'Oh right' I paused. 'What are they like?'

'Oh Blake's. Well, Blake you know.' I didn't but I nodded 'and Jasmine just texted me. She's coming upstairs right now.'

'Good' I bit my lip, trying to stop nerves taking over me. I remembered Silkie saying they'll eat me alive. God, I begged they were nice. Natalie made no sense. 'What's this school like?'

'Urr' Natalie paused 'it's good' she said unsurely 'yeah. You'll love it. I hope.'

Then the door opened and Natalie screamed 'Jasmine' and ran to hug the girl.

'Hey' said Jasmine grinning, then turned to look at me 'who's this one?'

'I'm Nerina' I said, doing a shy wave.

'Hi' she said. Jasmine had long black hair to her waist and tanned skin. She looked oriental but her eyes were jade green, a stunning combo. And she had an amazing smile. 'Oh God, it's great to be back here again.'

'Yeah' said Natalie, still not sounding convinced.

Jasmine went and sat down on her bed, checking her texts then sighing. Natalie shot daggers at her leaving me more confused than ever, then she looked up 'how are you Natalie?'

'I'm fine' she said quickly 'actually I'm better than fine. Then holiday has really cleared my head.'

'Good, I'm so happy for you' smiled Jasmine the cried 'Blake' as the third girl walked through the door.

'Hi Jasmine' said Blake unsurely. Her hair was purple, literally. Deep purple colour and in tight ringlets that matched her strangely violet eyes. 'Oh and Nat, and-' she looked at me expectantly.

'Nerina' I said, smiling fakely.

'Great' she sat on her bed then lay down, staring at the ceiling. 'The whole group minus Fiona back together again.'

'You could sound more enthusiastic' said Jasmine, crawling onto her bed and lying next to her 'I mean, we can stay up late eating cookie dough and braiding each others hair.'

'I missed you' said Blake.

'Everyone always does' grinned Jasmine.

Great, now I was really confused.
