Chapter 2 - A Curse of Anger
(The next day, Thursday)
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Blade hears someone scream.
He rolls his eyes as he notices it's Destiny who screams.
"ALINA! GUESS WHAT?!" Destiny shouts.
"Corgi butt?" Alina giggles after she says that.
Blade even grins cheekily at her response as he turns to look at the two.
Destiny scoffs. "Seriously? That isn't even very funny." she says.
"Sure it is. Especially if you say it with a picture of a corgi wagging its butt." Alina smiles big.
She holds up a picture of a corgi wagging its butt with the words 'guess what, corgi butt' on top of the corgi.
"Whatever. It's a stupid mutt." Destiny says.
'She doesn't sound very nice.' the voice whispers to Blade.
'Are you watching this?' he asks.
'I am. Is that okay?' the voice replies.
'I...I don't have a problem with it so yeah. It's fine.' Blade says with a slight stutter at the beginning.
"It's not a stupid mutt!" Alina shouts. "Blade, back me up here."
She looks at him when she speaks as Blade rolls his eyes.
"Leave me out of this." he says.
"What's a stupid mutt?" Nathan questions right away when he walks up to the trio.
Alina turns to look at him. "Corgis." she says and folds her arms across her chest.
"They are dumb dogs." Destiny argues.
"I stand corrected." Nathan mutters then faces Blade. "How long as this been going on?"
Blade shrugs. "For a few minutes now. Destiny screamed and said guess what. Alina responded; corgi butt as a joke. But I don't think Destiny understood the joke." he states.
"Oh." Nathan says.
The two boys stare at the girls' argument before Destiny successfully pins Alina to the ground, using all her weight to keep the girl down.
"I was going to say, I have a crush." Destiny smiles.
"Oh? On who?" Alina asks.
Destiny taps her best friend on the nose with a gentle finger. "Someone." she says with a smirk.
The bell rings then, interrupting Alina just as she's about to bark back a response. She groans and forces her feet to drag her body to class.
(Science class)
Alina trudges into science class with her bag swung over her shoulder and her brother following behind her. Nathan walks in as well but takes a seat beside Forest, he smiles at her before he sits down.
"Today we'll be learning about RNA, DNA, and the chromosomes that make up a living being. So take out your books and turn to page 37, please." the teacher says.
The lesson goes on until the teacher suddenly asks his class questions.
"Can anybody tell me how many chromosomes are in a human being?" he asks aloud.
"Oh! It's 46 but 23 from one parent and 23 from another; making the grand total to be 46 chromosomes in a human being." Alina answers.
"Nice job sis." Blade mouths to her as she nods with a smile.
"Next question; what is the principal role of RNA?" the teacher asks.
"RNA is the messenger that carries instructions from DNA to control the synthesis of proteins in our body." Forest says casually.
She adores science, being a witch and everything. It comes naturally for her and she knows genetics at the back of her hand.
"Excellent job girls." the teacher tells them then looks above him at the clock that sits on the wall. "For the remainder of the period, you may work on your assignment."
Blade's eyes glance down to the paper sitting on his desk. Oh Irene....help me. Science is not my strong subject. It's complete torture. He sighs and grabs hold of his pencil. He starts to work on the assignment while Alina does the same from across the room.
'ALPHA!' he hears someone shout from his mind.
'Zalia? Aye, calm down. You're giving me a headache.' he replies.
'THAT'S BESIDE THE FUCKING POINT! We have a serious problem!' she shouts.
'You do realize I'm not your Alpha, right? I'm just a normal human.' he responds and writes down an answer to one of the problems.
'Yeah, duh. I can still call you Alpha since you are more of a leader than Emert is. Also, you're human?!' Zalia admits.
'Um...yeah.' Blade says.
'If you were really human, you wouldn't be able to talk to me telepathically.' Zalia says.
Blade debates whether or not to answer her with the truth. He mumbles to himself while trying to figure out a problem. I can't tell her! Not with the manhunt for me and Dad going on. But at the same time, Emert needs to be stopped. That pack deserves to be free. Ugh!
"Blade? The bell rang like two minutes ago." Nathan tells him.
The eldest Lycan quickly stands up and stuffs his papers and pencil into his backpack. He then swings it across one shoulder.
"Thanks for telling me that!" he calls out and runs out of the classroom.
"That was strange." Nathan mutters.
(Werewolf class - ten minutes later)
"I'm sorry. This school's big enough to get lost in." a girl says as she walks into the class.
She's a 15 year old human daughter from an all human family. Her bright blue eyes catch sight of two more humans and notes how the rest of her classmates are werewolves.
"That's fine, Wisp. Take your seat." Mr. Gavin tells her.
She strolls towards the only empty desk, which is beside one of the two humans. She pulls out her notebook and writes in it.
WW102; Definitely a werewolf class. Entire class is full of wolf hybrids except for two others that are like me.
"This lesson is a very important one for all of you werewolves. Since all of you are teenagers, your hormones are all over the place. Which is what makes this lesson my least favorite one! Mating." Mr. Gavin announces.
The girl has a confused expression on her face. What are mates?
"Mating is the most important thing in the world of werewolves! When a werewolf finds his or her mate, they'll know because they can sense and feel it. Electric sparks, scents, and possessiveness are just some of the things werewolves feel when they meet their mates. Mates are the soulmate or a werewolf's other half. Their partner that loves any side of them no matter what." Mr. Gavin explains.
"What happens when an Alpha claims a mate?" Brave asks with a smirk.
"Alphas are the only ones who are very possessive and are the most aggressive if their mate is with the opposite gender. But one type of werewolf that's even more aggressive than regular Alphas is the Ultima. Ultimas are the only type who's mate has a name, or title. They call her, the Luna of the Ultima or the Ultima's Luna." Mr. Gavin answers.
The girl leans her head forward, suddenly intrigued.
"Why the hell are we talking about that? We all know the Ultima exists otherwise why would there be a manhunt for it?" Brave comments.
Blade keeps silent as does Alina and the blue eyed girl notices the two humans not talking. She jots down some information in her notebook.
Ultima - Unknown. Could be someone in the class? Must investigate further.
Ultima's Luna - Again, unknown. Wouldn't know until the name of the Ultima gets revealed.
The girl looks back up from her notebook as she catches a pair of golden eyes looking at it.
"You take notes?" he asks her.
"How else am I supposed to pass a class I didn't realize I signed up for?" she remarks.
"Good point." Blade responds.
'Alpha! Are you busy?!' Zalia shouts from inside his mind.
'Kind of am at the moment! I'm in class now what is it.' he snaps.
'Oooh um...Ahem, Emert is making his move. He's already holding other werewolves hostage, demanding them tell him who our leader is. Now, granted we won't ever rat you out but I fear it's only a matter of time before they do found out.' Zalia explains.
