Chapter 2

"Suzushima. Suzushima...."

"Yes, I know my name rolls off the tongue. You can stop repeating it to yourself. I know my family name is a mouthful, so just Akira will do."

As the two of them were leaving the so-called Royal Capital, Akira took it upon himself to examine where Felt was taking him. When he looked around, he noticed how the area they were in looked to be in far worse condition than the area they were at previously. The people here were wearing torn rags and covered in dirt. Some of the houses looked empty and worn out as there were various holes in the roofs.

"Looks like this is the slum area. Just like in any society, social status is everything as the system fucks over the minority that lacks financial standing, discriminates because of race, have corrupted senile old farts in change and are too scared of change, or worst of all it's all of those options put together wrapped up in a damn bow."

"Hey, Felt, are we almost there?"

"Yeah, at the edge of the slums is a loot house. We'll have Old Man Rom to look at the item that you want appraised and go from there."

"Oh no, you'll be giving me the information I want first. Then you'll get your money's worth."

Just because they made a deal doesn't mean that Akira had to trust Felt's words to the letter. He was allowed to be skeptical, especially since she would've just robbed him had he not offered this trade to begin with. Soon the boy saw something in the distance as he noticed how Felt's smile grew wide. As the girl rushed over to the building, she knocked on the door as Akira heard the sound of a man's voice on the other side of the door.

"For a rat.."

"Poison."

"For a whale..."

"A harpoon."

"To the noble dragon lord we are..."

"Shitbags."

After Felt answered everything, both herself and Akira saw the door opening up. Once they walked inside, Akira looked at the person who opened the door. To say he was surprised would be an understatement. The man was 220 cm tall and sported a bulky figure. Compared to Akira, this man was a giant in every sense of the word.

"Felt, welcome back. Who the hell is this guy?"

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Old Man Rom. As for this guy, apparently his name is Akira. He says he has something worth appraising, but he won't give it up until his demands are met."

"I see. Well then, boy, what do you want?"

As both Rom and Felt looked at Akira, they saw the serious expression on his face as the boy was giving this some serious thought. He needed to prioritize his survival here since it felt like he wouldn't be returning to Japan anytime soon, not that he would want to anyways considering he literally tried to end his life there.

"I want to know more about the land, more specifically, I want to know about where I am and possibly any other nations. Not only that, I want to learn how to read and write along with having a place to stay."

"...pfffft. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Soon Felt and Rom both began to burst out laughing. This kid had something valuable and went through all these hoops just for a history lesson and basic reading comprehension? How could they not laugh at something like that? If anything, they probably would've done the first part for free and only have to find him lodging as payment. However, as the two of them were laughing, Suzushima was smiling towards them as he took out his phone and was ready to chuck it towards the wall.

"Destruction of property it is then."

"Wait, wait, wait! Sorry, it's just out of all the things you possibly wanted, I never would've expected that."

"Well you better believe it, old man. I'm not from around here and need to survive somehow."

"Aren't you speaking the truth. Fine then, make sure you pay attention. There are four major territories: the Sacred Vollachia Empire in the south, the Holy Kingdom of Gusteko in the north, the Kararagi city states in the west, and finally the Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica in the east. We are located in Lugunica, the most eastern empire bordered by the Great Waterfall."

As Akira was taking in this information, he nodded his head as he was starting to get the picture. The moment he asked Rom about the Great Waterfall, the man simply replied that it was the edge of the world where giant cliffs of water just fall downwards. What is beyond that point is unknown to him or anyone else. Seeing as this was probably the most info he would get, Akira sighed as he showed Felt and Rom his phone.

"Before I show you what it can do, allow me to request one more thing?"

"What now?"

"Let me work and stay here. After all, part of the deal was to find lodging. While I don't completely trust you, I can at least trust your work ethic. You had every chance to steal this from me during the conversation and you didn't do so. Obviously I won't just be sitting on my ass, i'll help around here anyway I can. The moment you see me as useless, you can throw me out the door."

Rom closed his eyes as he was deep in thought, Felt mimicking his action. An extra pair of hands would be useful here. If they took this deal, not only would they make some serious money if his item was worth it but they would also gain extra help. As they thought it over, Akira decided it was time to show them what his phone could do.

"Anyways, here. This is a device from my own country. The device is known as a cell phone and it has many functions. One of which can record the voices of someone during a certain point in time and can play it back for you. This is especially useful if you make a deal and someone wants to pretend they didn't say a damn thing."

"Wait, wait, wait! Sorry, it's just out of all the things you possibly wanted, I never would've expected that."

"That was definitely my voice! That function does sound good for when someone tries to go back on negotiations. Could this be a metia?"

"A metia?"

"It's a device I heard about recently that let's people who haven't opened the gate use magic, like real magic users. This is my first time dealing with a metia myself. Though this metia might fetch you at least twenty holy coins. Hell, there might be fanciers out there who'd even pay more for it. Damn, listen up Akira. I'll let you stay here and work under me as promised, but you better work your ass off and do your part."

Akira merely nods his head as he hands his phone over to Rom. As Rom went to go clean out some space in order for Akira to have a place to call a room, Felt ran off to do some more work. The boy let a sigh of relief exit his lips as he walked out of the loot house and began to walk around the slums in order to get familiar with the place. While doing so, he saw some kids playing by throwing rocks and trying to dodge them.

"I managed to snag myself a place to stay and a way to make money, that's a start. If I died on my first day here, I would think life just hates me wherever I go. There's still a lot I need to learn. Rom mentioned magic and the Great Waterfall. If anyone asks me where I'm from, saying i'm from somewhere beyond the Great Waterfall would probably be my safest bet."

"Mister, lookout!"

The moment he heard someone scream at him, Akira noticed how a rock was hurling towards him. Before he realized it, the boy's red eyes widen in shock with what happened next. The rock was immediately deflected from him as if he was protected by a barrier as the rock was now on the ground just a few inches away from his feet. However, this one feat told Akira everything he needed to know. His Divine Blessing of Thought Acceleration helped him do simple calculations at high speed. What just happened now was something else entirely.

"I calculated the minimum required forces like gravity, air pressure, light, oxygen, heat, sound wavelength, and other necessities. Once that was done, I redirected everything else. No way, this ability. It's the same one that I read about in that manga before I was transported here. I know he and I share a physical appearance, but to also have his ability....."

That's when it dawned on him. Akira's ability was definitely the same as the one he read about before he tried to end his own life in Japan. The ability to control vectors (magnitude and direction) and influence objects that have vectors. The ability that shared the same name as its original owner; Accelerator. That's when a smile began to creep on Akira's face.

First, there was the Divine Protection of Thought Acceleration. It allowed him to greatly increase the speed of his thought process. He could also adjust the level of acceleration as needed, as well as extend the effect to other individuals.

Then his next Divine Protection came into play. The Divine Protection of Parallel Calculation allowed him to carry out multiple thought processes simultaneously. This included detachment of analysis of phenomena from his regular thoughts and the preservation of consciousness by using additional thought processes as backups. In short, he could do an analysis while simultaneously having normal thoughts without losing his sense of self.

"With these two Divine Protections and the ability of Accelerator.......holy shit. With just enough time, could I be just as strong as Accelerator himself? Wait, unlike him, I never suffered the brain damage that he did. So, is it possible to even surpass him?"

If he can get a grasp of this power, he could become an absolute monster. While a part of him knew this power could be dangerous, another part of him wanted to test his limit. To be able to evolve and become something more. To become something worth a damn unlike the old him back in Japan. As the smile on his face grew, Akira couldn't help but chuckle.

"Seriously, when you give me things this tempting, why would I even want to go back to my world? Alright then, let's see where this road takes me."
