~With Subaru~
"Damn! What was that loud noise earlier?! Was that Akira's signal?"

As he was running through the forest, Subaru was trying to find Meili as Rem was sitting with the children until the villagers arrived. While doing so, he heard an extremely loud noise coming from the direction Akira went. While the boy was covering his ears, he noticed something in the distance. Meili was lying on the ground as she looked to be unconscious while Akira was seen killing off Ulgrams left and right.

"Seriously. Was that guy always this busted? Well, at least I can get Meili and bring her back to the village."

As Subaru was trying to walk ahead and get closer to Meili, he noticed something staring at him with its red eyes. The moment the creature stepped out of the shadows, Subaru saw a large wolf-like creature with a brown and black hide, protruding razor-sharp fangs, a set of spikes jutting out of its back, red eyes, and a single spike like horn on the snout.

As the creature stared down Subaru, the boy took off his jacket as he wrapped it around his left arm. Soon the beast began to sink into the shadows as it was walking around the area. A few seconds passed before the beast jumped out the shadows and tried to bite Subaru. Seeing this, the boy held up his left arm as the beast began to bite the limb while it was still covered by his jacket.

"That...... didn't hurt. You just bit me, didn't you, you moron!"

As Subaru held up the beast's body, he slammed it on a broken tree branch as it pierced through his enemy's gut. The beast let out one last cry before it's body went completely limp. While Subaru was breathing heavily, he felt a sharp gaze being directed at him. When he turned around, he saw several more Ulgrams staring him down from beneath the shadows.

"Crap. Nowhere to run either.........bring it on!"

Just as Subaru said this, one of the beasts jumped forward and tried to take a bite out of the boy. While the beast was in the air, it was suddenly smashed into the ground by a morningstar. As Subaru slowly turned his head in the direction the weapon came from, he saw Rem holding her weapon as she just arrived.

"The children have been safely returned to the village."

Suddenly two more Ulgram jumped out from the shadows and tried to attack Rem from behind. The girl turned around and slammed her morningstar into the stomach of the first beast. Shortly afterwards, she slammed her left fist onto the last beast's skull as it was now on the ground with blood escaping its corpse as it stained the very soil. Seeing this, Subaru picked up Meili's body as he ran to Rem's side while the girl was killing any beast that came close to him during his run.

"You're strong!"

"I'm not sure if that is a nice thing to say to a girl, Subaru-kun."

"I have no other words to describe you. Anyways, Rem, is there a chance you can take them all out in one shot?"

"There are too many of them. However, we have a better chance at running to safety since Akira slaughtered the majority of them."

As Rem said this, she slammed her morningstar down on the ground to make a veil of dirt as Subaru ran forward with Meili in his arms. Shortly afterwards, Rem followed after them. While some of the Ulgram charged towards them, suddenly the loud whimpers of their fellow pack was heard. The remaining Ulgram were seen hanging in the air by spear-like pillars of dirt. Soon Akira was seen walking out the shadows as he had an annoyed look on his face.

"Dammit. I still can't find that damn puppy that started all of this. Given the speed they're running at, along with Rem's support, Subaru should be getting close to the village. You two better not die on me."

"Rem, which way to the village?!"

"Just straight ahead! Once we cross the barrier, the battle will end!"

As Subaru was running towards the village, Rem was killing any mabeast that would get close to her and the boy she was protecting. During these few minutes of running, Subaru finally managed to see some light. The group was so close to village. Just as he turned around to see Rem, he noticed the maid was in bad shape. She was breathing really heavily as her body was covered in blood. However, before they could say anything, one mabeast in particular saw it's chance to attack.

The puppy-like creature that cursed Subaru was seen standing in the middle of the pack as it began to cast a spell. Suddenly, the very ground began to expand as a large landslide was heading towards Subaru, Meili, and Rem. Seeing as they lacked enough time and distance to make it to the village without injury, Rem pushed Subaru out the way as Meili was still in his arms. The boy could only watch as the maid was sent flying from the attack as her body landed harshly on the ground.

"Rem!!!!!"

As Subaru called out to her, he noticed how they were all getting surrounded by the Ulgram. He was trying to find a way out of this situation. He needed to get Meili and Rem to the village. Just as he was trying to think of a solution, he saw Rem slowly standing back up. A pink light shined through the darkness as something was emerging from her head while her eyes were slowly opening up. 

"Mabeasts.............mabeasts!"

Subaru couldn't believe what he was witnessing. Right before his very eyes, a horn was now protruding from the maid's head as she was now lunging towards the pack of Ulgram with a malevolent smile on her face. She smashed two of the mabeasts against some trees with her morningstar as their blood and guts were now exposed to the world. Shortly afterwards, she turned around and slammed her right fist through another Ulgram's skull.

"Mabeasts. Mabeasts! Mabeasts! Mabeasts! Mabeasts!"

"She's a demon......."

As Subaru said this, he noticed how Rem stopped moving as her sights were set on the puppy-like creature that cursed him. However, the moment her attention shifted towards it, another pack began to lunge in the maid's direction. Seeing this, the black haired boy placed Meili's body on the ground as he jumped towards Rem and pushed her out the way.

Just as she felt herself being pushed away, the horn began to sink back into her head as Rem could only watch as the pack of Ulgram began to bite at Subaru. The boy cried out in pain as he felt the mabeasts trying their best to rip apart his flesh with their fangs. The boy couldn't hold back his screams as the beasts sunk their fangs deeper into their prey's body. Seeing this, the puppy-like Ulgram ran off with the rest of its pack as Rem used her morningstar to smash the remaining ones that were gnawing at Subaru.

"Subaru-kun. Subaru-kun! Don't die!"

"If you don't want him to die then hurry your ass to the village! You need to get treated too, you dumbass!"

As the maid turned towards the source of the voice, she saw Akira standing before her as he was now carrying Meili in his arms. The moment that Subaru looked at the white haired boy, he noticed something off about him. His face looked as if he was genuinely worried. The boy looked like he wanted to say something, but instead he instructed Rem to follow him to the village. As Subaru was slowly closing his eyes, he heard Akira muttering something to himself.

"Dammit, I could easily catch up to those beasts. I could just kill them now so.....damn. What the hell is wrong with me? I don't know how long it might take for that curse to activate. Especially now that multiple of them have been placed. Shit, I should've asked when I had the chance! Dammit, after I bring you and Rem to be treated, i'll go grab Beatrice."

"Seeing your face like this.....worrying if i'm gonna make it or not. Even worrying about Rem's condition and my promise to the kids. I was wrong, you're not the blue ogre, Akira."

"We made a promise to those kids, didn't we? We'll find a way to undo the new curses those mutts placed on you. Until you do radio calisthenics with the kids like you promised, you're not allowed to die yet!"

".....I think I understand you a little more. You're not a blue ogre. You're a red ogre who was forced to the play the role of the blue ogre."
