~ Chapter 9 ~

Kylo's Pov:

I woke up before Rey and looked down at her sleeping in my arms. I gently brushed aside a strand of hair out of her face and closed my eyes again. I laid down resting for a while before I started to feel Rey waking up. I opened my eyes and looked down at her as she rubbed her eyes. "Good morning." I whispered.

"Good morning." She yawned.

"How are you feeling?"

"Not well. My head is pounding." She moaned.

I carefully got up and wrapped her backup all cozy on the sofa. I walked over to the small kitchen that was in the corner of the room and boiled some water for tea. I finished making a pot of tea and brought it over to the coffee table in front of the sofa. I poured a cup for Rey and handed it to her.

"Here this may help." I said as I handed her the cup of tea.

"Thank you." She replied and sat up to take the cup. I poured myself a cut as well and sat down next to her. There was an awkward silence for some time while we both sipped on our cups of tea. "How did your father die?" Rey blurted out.

"Oh." I replied, taken back slightly by the question. "Well, he... he was murdered. We were staying on Jakku and it was around the time I had met you actually. My dad was doing business with someone named Unkar Plutt. We were supposed to be there for the whole year however, my father took some shortcuts with the business which Unkar was not happy with. He ended up doing something stupid and got himself killed. My mother never told me what exactly it was he did but I remember going home from school that day to find my mother in tears with the police at our door. We stayed there for a little while longer but eventually my mom and I moved back to her home planet. She was not well enough most of the time to work so I had to go out and get a job. She had some connections in high places and was able to help me get a high position working in politics. Eventually though I started to train with my uncle in the ways of the Jedi. His methods were questionable but it helped me enough to be able to train myself after he disappeared. No one knows where he is. My mother says he can still feel that he's alive, but everyone else believes he is dead."

"I'm so sorry Kylo." Rey said rubbing my arm.

"Ben."

"What?" Rey asked with a confused look.

"My real name is Ben." I replied.

"Ben. I like it"

4 hours later:

There were no more loud wind noises coming from outside but I still had a feeling the storm was not over yet. We had been burning through fire wood like crazy all day, attempting to keep warm, and since the supply was getting low I needed to go outside and grab more. I walked up to the closet and grabbed a coat and boots.

"Where are you going?" Rey asked confusedly.

"I need to go grab some more firewood. At the rate we are going through it we'll be out in another couple of hours."

"I'm coming with you!" She yelled.

"No Rey - I need you to stay here. The storm may still be really bad. I don't want you to get hurt, especially in your condition." I walked up the stairs and back into the main part of the house. Rey followed behind me looking through the halls at some of the light damage the storm had already caused. Some windows had been broken and there were puddles of water on the floor. I stopped at the front door and turned to face Rey. "Rey, I am serious. You can not come with me. I don't want anything bad to happen to you or the baby." I reached up to the display box above the door and unlatched it. I kept a shotgun inside for emergencies. "If I don't come back in 10 minutes fire this into the air until you see me." Her face became worried, but she silently nodded and took the gun from my hand.

I turned around and opened the door. There was so much snow and I saw nothing but white. I knew that the firewood was back on the side of the house but it would probably be covered in a large amount of snow. I grabbed a snow shovel and walked outside. Rey stood at the door nervously and waited.
