Rey's Pov:

I don't understand why he is trying to help me. I'm just some woman he found crying in the dirt. I am worth nothing to anyone, especially to some strange guy whom I've just met and who is the ruler of the whole galaxy. He can have whatever the hell he wants, why would he want to help me? I looked over at the tray of food and I could already feel my mouth start to water. I was really hungry but, if I ate the food I would be giving into him.

I finally picked up the tray of food sitting on the end of the bed. It smelled so good, I started digging in right away. It only took me a few minutes to finish eating, and I started thinking about how I might have been too rude to Kylo earlier. He was giving me free shelter and free care from the cold, the least I could have done was be respectful. I may not have understood why he was doing all this, but he was. Maybe I should apologize to him, I wasn't sure. I suddenly felt the need to go to him and apologize. I got up and walked out the door. I remembered he had said that he would be out in the garden but, I didn't know where anything was. I decided to ask one of the maids who I had found cleaning up a broken piece of art.

"Excuse me, ma'am? Do you know where the garden is?" I asked

"Take one left, and two rights. You should find a glass door to it."

"Okay, Thank you," I replied.

I got to the garden where Kylo was admiring the roses. The garden was full of lovely varieties of flowers, from tulips to exotic looking wildflowers.

"Hi.." I said nervously.

He turned around and looked at me, shocked to see me.

"Well, I hope you came to apologize," He said with a slightly sarcastic tone.

"Apologize?! Why you little.." I said angrily. How rude of him to assume I just came here to apologize.

"Whoa Rey, I was kidding, calm down. Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have forced you to eat, I just wanted to make sure nothing bad happened to you." He calmly replied to my yelling.

"I know, But you don't even know me. Why do you care so much?" I asked.

"Because I just do. All will be revealed in time, you'll see."

I gave him a strange look. He smirked and walked closer to me. He handed me a single rose and all I could do was stare down at the flower. I looked up at him and he placed it in my hair. "Come inside when you're ready." With that he walked away, the door to the garden closing behind him. I stood there, shocked and confused. What did he mean when he said "all will be revealed in time." I don't understand.

I walked through the garden for a while admiring the flowers. I was spinning the rose Kylo had given me around in my hands wondering why he gave this to me the way he did. None of this seemed to make any sense.

I walked out of the garden through the halls, trying to find my way back to the hospital room I was in earlier. As I was walking through the halls I was admiring all the art along the halls of Kylo's house. Well, it was more of a mansion. I stopped at one that was some kind of family portrait. There was a young woman with dark brown hair that was tied into large buns on the side of her head. Next to her was a tall ruggish looking man carrying a blaster and wearing a vest. In the middle there was a short child who was very pale with dark hair. He looked a lot like Kylo I thought as I stared at the art.

"Hello there, miss." A voice said. I turned around startled and was face to face with a young man who had light red hair and green eyes. "I've never seen you around here before. Why are you here?" he asked, closely observing me in a way that made me feel uncomfortable.

"I am here because I am a guest. A guest of Kylo Ren."

"So you're his toy?" He asked curiously.

"No! Just a guest. I'll only be here for a few months then I am gone." I said slightly raising my voice. A sly smirk crawled across his face as he walked closer to me forcing me to lean against the wall.

"So, I suppose he would not mind if I helped myself to his little guest." He whispered seductively. He slammed his hand on the wall right next to my face. My heart was beating out of my chest and I didn't know what to do. He turned to face me, placing his other hand under my chin, leaning in close to my face. Before he could do anything more, the door at the end of the hallway burst open.

"GET YOUR CLAWS THE HELL AWAY FROM HER!" Kylo yelled with his ignited lightsaber. He swiftly walked over and force grabbed the man's neck. "What do you think you're doing to her? Do you really think you can just take any girl who you see wandering around my house?! If you ever lay a finger on her again..." He yelled as he was forced to choked the man's neck so hard that blood was coming out of his nose. "...You will suffer!" Kylo finally let go and the man dropped to the floor rubbing his neck. "You better get far away from here and ESPECIALLY, from her."

The man got up shaking his head vigorously and ran out of the hall. "Are you alright Rey? Did he hurt you? What happened?" He asked worried.

"I'm fine, Kylo. He didn't hurt me, but he was going to-" I felt the tears building in my eyes as I thought about what could have happened if Kylo hadn't stopped him. Kylo's eyes softened as he put his saber back onto his belt.

"Come here, Rey." He pulled me into a tight hug as I cried into his chest. "No one will ever hurt you again, I promise. You're safe with me." I couldn't seem to stop crying. It felt so strange to let all my feelings out in the arms of a stranger. However, I also could not help but feel safe? How could I feel so safe from the world in the arms of someone I barely knew? How was he able to make me feel so many different emotions that I could not pinpoint? I was so confused, but at that moment nothing else mattered to me. All I wanted to do was stay wrapped up in his arms and feel safe for as long as possible.

"T-thank you, Kylo." I whispered into his chest.

"You're welcome." He whispered back, holding me tighter.

We pulled away after what felt like an eternity. He wiped the remaining tears off of my cheeks with his thumbs. "Go back to the hospital room. I have a bedroom being made for you as we speak. As soon as you're fully recovered you'll move in there. I'll bring you dinner and check on you in a little bit, ok?"

"Okay." I sniffled. I walked back down to the hospital room and fell asleep almost instantly when I sat on the medical bed.

1 hour later

Knock Knock! I woke up startled by the knocking at the door. "Come in." I yawned. Kylo entered the room with a tray of food. It looked like there were sandwiches and berries on the tray.

"I hope you don't have an allergy to any of the food we have been making you. I don't know what your food preferences are, so I just had the chef make something that could give you the most nutrients you need the quickest."

"I am not allergic to anything. That I know of, anyway. Th-thanks for the food, Kylo."

"You're welcome." He said with a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I have hired one of my best most trusted Knights of Ren to be your security guard. No one besides the medical droid and I will be allowed to enter your room. If you need anything, have the Knight come find me. I'll be up all night if you need anything." I nodded as he placed the tray gently on my lap. "You'll be safe don't worry I've made sure of it." I smiled weakly due to still being tired. With that, he was off. I ate my dinner and placed the tray on the side table next to the medical bed before I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

12 am

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. I flew awake looking around to see where the sound of beeping I heard was coming from. I got out of bed and ran into the hall. I saw Kylo running down the hall. He grabbed both my arms which took me by surprise, and looked at me straight in the face. "Rey, the garden is on fire, you need to run outside and don't turn back. I don't want you getting hurt."

"W-what about you? Where are you going?" I questioned shakely.

"I need to go help. The staff put out as much fire as they can until the fire department gets here." Before I could run away, one of the maids ran up to us breathless and smoky.

"Sir Kylo, one of your knights he went into the garden. He has not come out yet." She said. Kylo looked down at the maid his eyes hardening.

"Rey I need you to go now...."

"But...."

"NO BUTS! You need to get out of here right now!" He yelled. He looked at me, his eyes pleading me to leave. I nodded my head and started running straight for the door. Before I could open it he grabbed my hand and I swiftly turned around. He set his hand on the side of my face. "If I don't come back..." He bent down and gently kissed my forehead. I had no time to think about why he would have kissed me before he shouted. "Go!" I nodded one last time and ran outside.
