~Chapter 15~
Ben's Pov:
I walked out of the room, delicately closing the door behind me. I really didn't want Rey to leave. I just wanted to get on my knees and beg her to stay with me, but I didn't want to pressure her into doing something that she didn't want to do. I just didn't understand it. We had gotten so close and I thought she felt the same way about me as I did her, but she didn't seem to be hesitant in leaving.
I went to my room and locked myself in. I didn't feel like doing anything or seeing anyone. I was too hurt to have the energy that was required in doing anything other than laying on my bed. I flopped down, looked up, and just stared at the ceiling, listening to the clock tick.
30 minutes later
Not even realizing I had fallen asleep, I was woken up suddenly to the sound of crying. It sounded like Lucas. I got up and walked over towards the door to open it, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes with my other hand. I hadn't been in a very deep sleep, but I suppose I had been tired nonetheless. I unlocked the door and walked across to Rey's room.
"Rey?" I knocked. "Is the baby okay?" I questioned. Waiting a minute for a response, I heard nothing, so I took the liberty of carefully opening the door, hoping it wasn't a bad time. I peeked my head in slowly and looked around the room, seeing Rey fast asleep with Lucas crying in his crib. I walked in and went straight to the crib picking up the little guy. He was so small and precious. He grabbed onto my shirt and tried to eat it. I figured he was hungry so carefully, I walked over to Rey, making sure I was holding little Lucas properly. She was sleeping so peacefully. I didn't want to wake her, but I couldn't feed him, nor did I know how to, so I walked up to her to attempt and gently awaken her from her slumbers. Out of the corner of my eye, I had caught a glimpse of her calendar and my heart felt like it dropped to the floor. I had instant regret even looking in that direction. She had marked the day she planned on leaving. I felt tears forming in the back of my eyes, but I couldn't let myself cry. At least not here.
"Rey, Rey wake up." I gently rocked her shoulder to try and wake her up. She rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up.
"Ben? What's wrong, is everything okay?" She asked groggily.
"Yes, but Lucas was crying and you weren't awake. I think he's hungry though." Rey turned to me and smiled down at the little one carefully taking him from my arms to feed him.
"Thank you."
"You're Welcome." I turned my head slightly to look at the calendar once more. I had hoped Rey hadn't been paying attention, but she spoke up, breaking me from my thoughts.
"I fell asleep right after I marked down the date. I planned to tell you, I just hadn't figured out how yet."
"T-that's alright, I wasn't worried about it." I stuttered while I swiftly wiped the single tear off my face that I didn't want her to see. My heart was shattered. I felt like a broken vase that had been put back together only to be dropped once again. "I'll make sure that your journey back is as safe as possible." I quickly blurted out before I speed walked out the door.
I went downstairs and into the kitchen to grab some water.
"How could she do this?" I thought aloud. "I know it's what we agreed upon, but I swore things had changed." There was no hesitation this time. The tears that had been hiding behind my eyes ran like a river down the sides of my face. "I suppose I'll have to let her go now. I don't have a choice."
I went to call up my personal pilot to take her back to her home planet. I decided it would be too painful for me to do it. The date was book, and time was running out.
