Goblet of Fire or Death Wish?

Annabeth POV

We chose to stay with the Gryffindors, Percy suggested that since we were on a quest and had already connected with some of the house, it would probably be easier to stay with them. I couldn't argue with logic like that, it seemed to surprise some people in our group of his quick thinking. To which he willed the water to splash out of Leo's goblet with a flick of his wrist, effectively covering him in the liquid. The whole of Gryffindor seemed shocked by his actions. One bushy-haired girl whispered to us

"You can do silent wandless magic?" She seemed surprised by this like it wasn't an everyday occurrence. With a frown, I remembered that they used wands and quickly came up with a story in my head. With a quick understanding smile, I turned to her as the rest of our little group watched me with wide eyes

"Why yes he did, at our school we train in all magic but have specific spells and elements that we are stronger at and enhance." With quick points at each of our quest members, I continued to weave my web. "Percy here is quite excellent with all things water-related. Leo here has a knack for fire. Frank does well with shapeshifting. Thalia and Jason all things wind. Nico and Hazel are good at all things underground. Will is an excellent healer. And the Stolls, Travis, and Connor, as you probably noticed are quite adept in all things tricky, so they are very fast and nimble, which allowed them to snag your things. Sorry about that by the way. And Piper here is quite persuasive." Piper blushed and turned away from the attention she was being given by the suspicious stranger.

"Oh, cool. I'm Hermione by the way, Hermione Granger. If you don't mind me asking what do you specialize in? I also never caught your name." She seemed more curious than suspicious now and I could feel Percy squeeze my hand in appreciation.

"Oh gods, where are my manners! I'm Annabeth Chase, I'm pretty good at strategy mostly. I am quite the planner." I laughed lightly, as she nodded and began to point out her own friends.

"This is Ron, Ginny, Fred, and George Weasley, all siblings, but Fred and George are twins like your Stolls over there." She paused as the offending two scoffed at her and we began to laugh. "Did I say something funny?" she turned to me, only to be answered by Jason.

"No sorry, it's just they aren't twins, far from it actually. Travis is two years older than Connor, their sixteen and eighteen respectively." He explained, she seemed shocked and embarrassed.

"Don't worry about it though they always get messed up anyway," Piper reassured the poor girl. After a few moments of silence, Leo then pointed his fork at the boy with glasses that looked a bit like Percy a few years back.

"So we get to know the ginger clans names but not this dudes name? Come on buddy I'll start my name is Leo hot stuff Valdez, also known as Bad Boy Supreme, Repair boy, and supreme commander of the-"

"LEO!" We all called out drowning out the last of his sentence. Everyone near us spun at the outburst and Leo quickly put out his nose.

"Don't be rude!" Hazel lightly smacked his arm, we turned back to the surprised wizards beside us.

"Sorry about Leo he means well." I sent a quick scowl his way to which he grumbled and pulled out a few spare wires and pieces of metal and began to work them into some sort of contraption.

"You don't know who this is?" The ginger boy, Ron stuttered out, I frowned and shook my heads, seeing similar faces around me.

"Should we?" Percy rubbed the back of his head today, a sign he was getting uncomfortable.

"Of course! This is Harry P-"

"Just Harry is fine." the boy cut off his friend with a look of relief.

"Well Just Harry, it's nice to meet you." Leo threw in once again.

"Leo!" Piper reprimanded him, to which he raised his hands above his head in surrender letting the newly built mechanical Pegasi fly into Franks chicken noodle soup and began to swim around. With a sigh, he pushed his food forward with a low, scolding Valdez emitting from his mouth when Leo reached into the bowl to retrieve his little invention.

When we got up to Griffindor tower a red-headed Percy Weasly told us that the boys were on the left and girls on the right. That is before the thirteen of us noticed a third door between the two. Which apparently wasn't there before as many Griffindore students were attempting to open it with hushed whispers about what could be on the other side.

"'C.A.M.P students'" Frank read from the plaque above the door at our confused faces. The other Percy seemed taken aback by its presence,

"Well never mind then, please do excuse them, they are just curious. That door was not there yesterday. The password to the dormitory is 'Nectar', weird I know but that's how you get in, the curfew is from 10 pm to 6 am, you may not leave this common room between those times." We nodded and made our way through the crowd to our door, one boy seemed to be unable to open it and jumped away when we approached.

"Mind if I try?" Piper asked sweetly, the boy blushed and moved out of the way. The door opened with ease, I assumed it was because of some spell so that only demigods could open it. We filled into the room which was much larger on the inside, there was an open space with a hearth and minifridge on the side, and a wall of cubbies opposite to it. Each with our names on it. On the wall visible from the doorway to the common room, there were two more doors with boys and girls written in Ancient Greek and Latin. I noticed a note when the door closed stuck to the fridge.

Hello, demigods of Camp half-blood and Jupiter,

I have designed this room for you under the impression that you would want to stay as close to our Harry as possible this year. The cubbies on the opposite wall are meant for your weapons, as we wish to not have them in our classrooms.

I have spoken to Lady Hecate and Chiron we are old friends, by the time you have woken up tomorrow you will have all of the necessary knowledge for your age on my world so you may fit in with the witches and wizards around you. I understand your special circumstances as does Professor McGonagall, so we have scheduled off a piece of time each day for you to enter the Dark Forest and train, I urge you not to venture too far into the forest as it is quite easy to get lost. On your schedules tomorrow the class will show up with the name elemental magic as I heard Miss Chase's wonderful explanation to Miss Hermione Granger.

As mentioned at dinner you must have entered your names into the goblet by 6 pm this Thursday. As you are all well prepared and willing to compete the twelve of you despite your age will be able to enter, only one will be chosen to complete the three tasks.

The door to your room can only be opened by a demigod, so you will not have to worry about the Gryffindor's you share a common room with barging in and discovering your secret. The girl's room has a spell on it so that no male may enter, this is for the wellbeing and safety of all of our students. Miss. Thalia Grace should appreciate this consideration. This spell is similar to the female dormitories outside which the stairs will turn into a slide to prevent any male from climbing.

I have included a hearth and mini-fridge so that you may sacrifice food to the Gods without the unwanted questions that would follow. You are not subject to our uniform but will be subject to your own, whatever that may be.

Please enjoy your stay with us at Hogwarts and follow these rules to the best of your ability,

Yours truly,

Professor Albus Dumbledore,

Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

"This headmaster seems to be all-knowing, we should all get to bed. We've had a long day." I told everyone after I had read out the letter.

"How did you read that so well? It's in English, no wait, Latin. Hold on." Frank took the paper out of my hands. "It's changing"

"It must be some sort of spell so that we can read it without problems, hopefully, that's one of the spells we'll know by the morning so we can translate our books for class" Hazel rationalized as she walked towards Frank and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before entering the girls' room. Followed by everyone else into their respective rooms.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"For the next few days you shall have the chance to enter in the quad- wizard tournament if you are of age." Professor Dumbledore states. I can't help but eye the fire coming from the cup, it seems so familiar, I look around and see none of the other demigods paying attention to it except Percy and Nico who is looking at the goblet suspiciously. They seem to recognize it too but from where? It looks hot and evil filled with some kind of magic. I opened my mouth to ask Nico when the headmaster began to speak once more.

"Children from Chirons Academy please enter your names in the goblet with your school and full name, so that we may set the age line," Hazel called out to the man at the podium,

"Uh professor we don't have any paper to write on"

"Ah yes however you may ask Mr. Weasley if he has a piece of parchment on hand. I can see that Mr. Jackson has an unorthodox pen to write with so you may use that."

Percy turned white as a ghost turning towards me as the room came back to life with noise. I thanked Ron for the parchment promising to give him some back in return and I held out my hand for Riptide. Percy hesitated it over my hand causing me to roll my eyes and snatch it out of his hand, I held it below the table out of sight.

"Annie..." He warned,

"Shh, seaweed brain. Hazel if you would please block this from view." she nodded in understanding. I felt the air around me thicken and when I uncapped Percy's sword and put the end on so it turned into his useable pen. I almost couldn't tell that it was a sword in the first place. The air around me thinned once more and Frank urged Hazel to drink some pumpkin juice. Thanking her, I ripped the parchment into twelve pieces and wrote everyone's name on one. I handed them all to Percy as he scrambled away to throw them all in the fire for us.

I heard a sharp gasp from behind me, I turned around to find Nico looking more white than usual.

"Oh, Hades that's bad."

"What is it, Nico?" I nudged his arm from across the table to get his attention. He glanced at me for only a second before returning his gaze to Percy's retreating back.

"Sorry, it's just- it's just that those flames look just like the River Styx in some parts."

I looked back at them and could see Percy was getting pretty close to it now

"You don't think it is, do you? That can't be safe." Nico nodded before answering in a low voice so only I would hear him.

"I think so, I can feel the pull from here, I couldn't figure out what it was until just now. The flames aren't the problem they won't harm anyone the way the river would, but with Percy's past... I don't know." He seemed worried now, he was eyeing the corner behind him like he was debating jumping into it. I spun back to my boyfriend who had reached the large death goblet. I gulped, before calling out his name, the others in our quest turned to look at me, but Percy paid no attention, due to the distance and the volume in the room I doubt he could hear me. I turn back to Nico who is fidgeting non-stop now, with wide eyes.

"Nico, if Percy touches the flames, will he be hurt?" Nico paled but did not answer or take his eyes off of the son of Posiden. "Nico!" his eyes snapped to mine, I could feel the fear radiating off of him, which did not make me feel better.

"I don't know Annabeth, no one's ever been in this situation before." I stood up, surprising the remaining nine demigods and our new wizard friends.

"Annie? Everything okay?" Thalia asked me but I ignored her and began to walk quickly to Percy, calling out his name again, trying not to draw the attention of those around me. I stopped and watched frozen halfway to him as he put the papers into the goblet and froze with a frown on his face. His whole body tensed up and I couldn't move a muscle as he kept his hand in the Styx flame.
