°chapter twenty five

As we walked out of the hospital, I glanced at a clock and it was now the next day. The trial was tomorrow and I had to find Dan, because he could provide me with some kind of alibi to support my case. I hated how it had been blown out of proportion but I had no choice but to fight back with full force.

I had luckily, earlier the day before, had requested some of Dan's old addresses, since I had a  funny feeling that Dylan was able to pull something as cowardly as this. He had the nerve to even think I would be unfaithful and that's what triggered my feelings of anger.

As I had scrolled through the emails of a friend at a precinct, my right hand had balled into a fist and within moment I felt another hand wrap around it.

I looked up, and landed my eyes onto Harvey.

"I just..." I clenched my jaw and exhaled in irritation. "... how he could even go there-" My voice cracked and my bottom lip began to quiver, "-just... it makes me sick." Opening my fingers, Harvey laced his fingers around mine, my hands relaxing with his warm, delicate touch.

"I know..." He said softly. "He's a sick son-of-a-bitch." Those words came out as a growl. "But, we'll get him. His thumb lightly caressed mine and I smiled a little, admiring his softer side. "Now, what's the plan Amy?" With his hand still in mine, I lift the phone up to him, scrolling with my thumb.

"You..." I swallowed to compose myself. "You know these addresses. These are the last known addresses of Dan. He moved a lot because of his travels, but luckily, the ones my friend has sent me aren't too far for us to travel to." Harvey turned his head to face me, tightening his grip on mu had.

"Let's get to it then." I frowned a little and he suddenly was thrown a set of keys. He lets go of my hand to pull open a car door. And not just any car.

My eyes widen.

"You... it's... a Aston Martin DB9..." Harvey mouth widens as he displays to me the biggest smile I've ever seen him wear on his face.

"I know... now Amy." He placed a hand onto my lower back. "Would you care to step inside? I will be your driver today."

I licked my lips in anticipation and gasped.

Pressing my shoe inside the car, I slowly sat down and Harvey closed the door behind him. I admired the silence as I waited for Harvey to sit inside and start the engine.

And moments later, he did and we were on the road to our first address, Harvey's eyes fixated on the road in front of him, but he also kept it lively with some music and conversation. "I'm surprised you knew what car this was you know." I fiddled with my fingers as I remembered my father.

"My Dad. He was a mechanic. Taught me a lot about cars." I see him smile. "You remind me of him. He loved antique cars, but you wouldn't catch him driving them around. He wanted them to remain untouched." Me and Harvey chuckled.

"Your Dad sounds great." I bowed my head and my voice was quieter, but Harvey heard me say,

"He was..."

And in between the talking we had knocked on many doors with no luck on where Dan was. Which didn't surprise me, but it was a little suspicious. I thought nothing of it for a while.

Until we arrived at the last address.

Harvey leaned on his car as I rang the buzzer, still with no answer.

"Come on..." I whispered to myself, pressing it over and over. After pushing it to death, I joined Harvey, shaking my head.

"Still nothing?" Sighing, I nodded and leaned my head onto his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around me. Harvey seemed to have opened himself up to me more and I admired him for it. We still hadn't talked properly about how we felt. I knew it was coming.

As I relaxed into him, I suddenly tensed as my phone vibrated in my pocket.

Lifting my off of Harvey, I pulled out my phone, frowning at a text. It was sent by an Unknown number.

Dan , 341-345-6776

"What is it?" I lifted my hand up to Harvey as I dialled the number, taking a few steps forward.

I walked back to Harvey, putting the phone to his ear. "It's just a voicemail." I bit my bottom lip, thinking. "Amy?" I turn to Harvey, clutching my phone in my hand. This seemed too easy.

"Someone wanted me to call this number... And they wanted me to find out that Dan can't be reached." I noticed Harvey clocking on.

"Which means... we don't have an alibi."

Which meant our case was falling through.
