°chapter thirty one

Once the recess had begun, me and Harvey stood up. He lowered his voice to me to avoid being heard by the opposition.

"We can do this. We have th-" I placed my hand onto his and for a moment, he just stared at it.

"If we lose, just know that I love you Harvey. I am gla-" Harvey shook his head and covered his warm hands with mine. I was cold - only because I was scared, and I knew that Harvey could sense it. We couldn't exactly just kiss in court, but we both looked at each other with hunger in our eyes. Both with passion and revenge.

"No, no. Don't say that. I'll win this for you. You don't deserve this." We glanced at each others lips and the sound of a door closing brought us back to reality. Me and Harvey sprung apart and began walking towards the exit of the courtroom. I watched Dylan's smug smile as we left and my heart wanted to beat its way out of my chest, but Harvey's presence was my safety blanket right now.

And I was no longer cold with him.

"So..." Harvey began to talk outside, but I wasn't listening. I felt sick. I felt so sick because soon I knew that I would become the centre of attention. I knew that Dylan would probably pin something on me and I saw that with Dan. But I remembered that kiss. It was before my marriage. Before I met that stupid bastard that is Dylan. "Amy? Amy?" I let out a gasp and I noticed Harvey with a frown on his face and his hand was on my shoulder.

"S-Sorry. I need to go to the bathroom." Harvey nodded and brushed his other hand against my own and we separated. As I opened the door to the women's toilets, I looked back at Harvey, who gave me a small smile before reaching into his pocket and answering a call.

I rushed inside and immediately went into a stall, locking it. I had hoped no one could hear me because all I did was bow my head and cry.

Fresh, salty tears ran down my cheeks and I scrunched my eyes tightly, hoping the tears would eventually stop.

Spoiler alert. They didn't.

I knew that I would have to eventually walk back out or I completely lose everything.

I had to do something. Dylan had to pay, but we didn't have enough evidence to put him down.

Harvey was the one person who let me believe I could hope. And I trusted him.

I quickly fiddled with the lock and stepped out. No one was here and that worked to my advantage as I quickly washed my face and dried it with some tissue. Yes, my eyes looked unbelievably puffy, but I couldn't magically make that go away.

Finally, I took a deep breath and made my way back to the courtroom.

As my heels tapped against the floor, I froze.

Harvey wasn't sitting there.

He wasn't there. And he wasn't outside. Maybe he went to the bathroom too.

I sat down and pulled my phone out of my pocket, shaking a little. My fingertips hurried to text him, but I received no reply.

Running my hands over my face, I sighed heavily, trying again. But as soon as I did, we were all told to rise, as the judge stepped into the room.

I completely phased out, looking at my phone. I didn't know what to do.

"Ms Steele. Ms Steele!" I whipped my head up, staring at the judge. "Where is your defense lawyer?" For a moment, I was silent. What the hell do I do?

"Clearly, Ms Steele's lawyer is not dedicated enough to be here so, your Honour, I am urging you to move this case forward and in favour of my client." I clenched my teeth and tears began to form again. I was fed up.

I couldn't take all the lies anymore. I just coul-

"Your Honour!" I heard a familiar voice behind me and I slowly turned around. "New evidence has come to light!" It was Harvey. Harvey Specter. And behind him stood Jessica, Louis, Mike, Rachel and Donna. But it didn't stop there. He also brought someone else with him. "I have evidence of both witness tampering and that Ms Steele's miscarriage was caused by a drug administered by Mr Dylan Harmon." My heart lifted as Harvey looked at me, smiling.

"Objection, this is a preposterous accusation on behalf of my client."

"I second that, Mr Specter, I presume you have actual evidence of this accusation." Harvey pulls out a video tape and some papers, walking up to the judge.

"With the help of Doctor Connor Drake, who was afraid of Mr Harmon, I have, one. Evidence of a foreign drug in Ms Steele's system when she lost her child. Two shows that Mr Harmon purchased this drug and three. The tape shows Mr Harmon speaking to Doctor Connor Drake, a witness in this trial, which I am sure that he was threatening to favour his case!" Immediately, Harvey and Dylan's lawyer began to argue with each other and Dylan sunk into his chair. I smiled, just a little.

"Order in this court!" The judge banged the gavel. "I will review this evidence and so will the jury. It will be decided if Ms Steele will have to face the consequences. We will have one hour before we reconvene." I took a deep breath and looked over at Harvey, who had his eyes glued to me.

We simpered at each other and knew we only had to do one more thing.

Wait.
