°chapter sixteen
It was only one in the afternoon, and I was still anxiously waiting for a message from Harvey, or his secretary, about our 'talk' in the evening. I wasn't ready to tell Harvey my secrets, but there was something in my heart that told me that I could. He was ready to shield me. Protect me. I'd only felt that once before. Just for a moment with Dylan.
Was I... feeling something for Harvey? I know it couldn't happen. It was inappropriate and I saw the way he looked at other women. He's a player. I'm not that unique either.
I shake my head and my feelings of nervousness get the better of me, so I head towards the bathroom.
My hands press against the cold sink and I hang my head over it. My breathing started to tremble as I feel a throb in my head that resonated from my scar. The way he touched me. The way he attacked me. I hated it. And I knew I was stronger than this. I finally look up and push my hair back a little, so I could lightly hover my fingers over it.
A few seconds later, I divert my eyes to the left of me, noticing a familiar face staring at me in the mirror.
It was Rachel.
"Amy! What happened to your face?" I smirked a little out of her view, noticing that she called me Amy and not Amelia. She had spoken to Mike already, hadn't she?
"I fell-"
"You didn't, there's no way!" She marches up to me and I take a deep breath. "I'm no Donna, but... are you sure you just... fell?" I didn't want to lie, but I couldn't drag more people into my mess.
"I'm sure." She sighs and joins me by the sink next to me. Rachel straightened her hair in the mirror and smiled. I knew that feeling she had. "So, how are you and Mike?" I ask her and her smile grew wider. She was head over heels for him.
"We're great. I... really like him... He makes me feel amazing." I return her big smile.
"That's... wonderful." Looking back into the mirror, I remember what it was like being with Dylan.
His hands all over me when we first told each other that we loved each other. His peppery kisses on my neck. The smell of his perfume. The way he looked at me and the way I felt in his soft hugs. But, then I remembered his hands over my body in a different way and I quickly dart out of the bathroom with a gasp.
I shake my head to get rid of the thoughts and as soon as I walk into my office, I look up.
I see Louis and a crease forms on my face.
Is everyone paying me a visit today?
"Louis. How can I help?" I walk to my chair and sit down. Louis shakes his head and faces me.
"Jessica told me that you didn't accept her case, why's that? I thought that was unlike you, since you did so well on the first one." I inhale deeply and answer him.
"Me and Harvey... we're on a case together. He needs my help." Louis nods.
"Well, Jessica gave it to me, so I had better get started. Actually, would you mind looking into the financials of this company?" He places a paper in front of me and beings to walk out the door.
"Louis, wait." He turns back to me. "Please, be careful with Dylan. Just... don't believe everything he says. Trust me." Louis heads out, not commenting on my words.
I just hoped Dylan wasn't tricking him too.
