°chapter one
It was almost unbelievable that I was back in business after some time. Hell, I could stare at the name all day. My mind was back to it's original time, where I was forever in a whirlpool of deductions, justice and papers- and I missed it.
Turning my heel, I face the opposite way, only to be bombarded by a woman.
A red-haired woman. Slender, looked like she was on a mission. My kind of woman. And although she dressed like a lawyer, she sure as hell wasn't, as in a few moments, I'd realise why.
"You're late." She snapped and heavily sighed.
I already pissed someone off. Great... "You know in order to be an outstanding employee, you have to show up on time?" Swirling around, the women ordered me to follow her. I'd hoped she wasn't exactly luring me into a trap- I mean, who knows? "And you've already crossed out that box." She continued as I quickly followed her.
And as I did, I passed glass offices, laced with the finest- at least I'd hoped- lawyers.
Finally, I was on familiar territory. "She's here." The women spoke and after she stepped out of my way, I lay my eyes on two people. A man, and another woman.
As I suspected, the red-haired woman was a secretary, but she stayed in the room as I met the two sitting at a desk.
"Do you realise I could fire you on the spot for being late on your-"
"I do." I comment. "I am only..." Glancing at my watch, I swallow nervously, yet confidently. "... a minute and 25 seconds late. And yes, I would have gotten here earlier if I hadn't spoken to this woman and struggled getting through the congested glass doors at the entrance." The black haired woman had inhaled sharply, her mouth open a little, as if in shock.
And rightly so. "Miss Pearson." I avert my gaze to the woman with the fiery coloured hair and noticed her smirk.
"Well Miss... Steele. I perhaps overlooked your potential to be in this firm. Allow Donna-" Jessica pointed her hand towards the woman who smirked just a few seconds ago. "-to show you to your office." Donna walks out of the room and I follow, on to hear a whisper of the gentleman's name. "Harvey I want..."
Harvey Specter. Quite famous in this realm. I guess I have a lot to live up to.
Donna escorted me to an empty office and I placed my handbag on the table.
"I was so impressed with the way you spoke to Jessica." I shrugged.
"It's the way I am, I guess." Donna smiled and took a few steps forward, extending her hand to me.
"Donna. Paulsen." Stepping in front of her, I shake her hand.
"Amelia. Steele. But you can call me Amy." She let go of my hand and stepped back, saying a few words before she left.
"We're going to be good friends. Very good friends." I couldn't help but smile at the remark. At least she wasn't pissed off at me anymore, right? I opened up my handbag and took out my Parker pen and my notebook, placing them on the desk.
I paused as I noticed a pair of black men's shoes in front of me. Looking further up, I noticed it was Harvey.
"So Amelia. Looks like Jessica had enough confidence in you to allow you to work with my on a civil case." At least it's not a pro bono. "So Miss Steele. Ready to work?" I inhale deeply, before saying my first words to Harvey.
"Hell yeah."
