Chapter 25: Exams
Woo! I'm back from my trip that I didn't even tell you about because it was so sudden and I would now like to apologize for it now~

Third Person View
The day of the exams are finally here!
"What's the matter, Nagisa? Are you okay?" Rio said as she walked through the hallway, looking for their class.
Nagisa smiled, "Rio-chan... As long as I can get some lucky points..."
Rio hit her back, "Real women need to bring out some strength! If it's English, you'll definitely get a good score."
"Oh~ How exciting." They saw Tanaka and Takada standing in front of a classroom.
"I heard you guys stupidly made a wager with Class A? I wonder what command you'll get when you lose?"
When they walked past them, Rio put both of her pencils inside Tanaka's nose, and pulling harshly to the side, "O-ouch!!"
Rio went in the classroom, "Alright, looks like this class is our exam room."
Nagisa sweat dropped as she looked at Tanaka, who was now bleeding.
They looked around, and saw... Ritsu with a body? Ritsu, but she looks... different.
"Who is that!?" Nagisa and Rio thought.
"This is Ritsu's replacement," They turned to see Karasuma-sensei, "The Board Chairman refuses to let an AI enter the exam, so we had to let someone who studied under Ritsu's tutoring to take her place." He explained.
"This is what Ritsu told me to pass on, but it's also what I personally want to say to you. Good luck."
Nagisa smiled at him, "Thanks!"
They sat down, and waited for the exams to start.
08:45, and they started to give the papers out.
Nagisa though as she got her paper, "Although this is a test that each person has to take alone, it feels as if this is a stage shared sith many people. The allies in the battle, the enemies we must defeat, and the crowds that cheer in the sidelines."
Suddenly, they were all in an arena, holding hammers faced with giant "monsters". (A.N. - This is a play on words, it can mean both "monsters" and "questions".)
"This is simply... an arena for us assassins. The bells to commence the final battle, rings today."
-English-
Nagisa jumped to the side to dodge the monster's strong attack, "I-it's much faster than the midterms!!"
"In a combined middle/high school of this level, there's nothing unusual about starting to learn high school material in the final year of middle school. In our school, the pace is personally quick on English, Math, and Science!! But... Everyone taking the exam is on the same boat!"
As they took the exam, Rio noticed Seo facing a giant monster. She looked at the question, and smiled.
Seo ran to the monster, and hit his hammer at him. And... nothing happened.
"I can't defeat it!? No way... This should be a totally perfect answer!!"
Rio jumped past him, and hit the other end of her hammer lightly on the monster's head, "You're sure uptight, huh? C'mon and relax a bit, honor student!"
She jumped down, the monster behind her exploding, into a mark from Koro-sensei that meant "full mark."
"A perfect answer!? Even though she's in Class E!?"
Nagisa also hit the monster lightly with the end of it, and got full marks. "I did it." She thought as she jumped down next to Rio, who was smiling at her.
Nagisa and Rio looked back at him, "You must not have any good friends overseas, Seo-kun. Like an octopus who enthusiastically recommends books, for example." Nagisa smiled at her, sweat dropping.
-Science-
"Take that!!" Koyama swung his staff at the monster, which then gave him a big "X."
"I just can't peel away the strongest part covering its head. I'm sure I memorized everything, and yet..." He looked back to see Okuda sitting on the monster's shoulder, patting its head with her staff.
"Real science isn't enjoyed through memorization alone." The monster's head then showed a "correct" mark.
"If you can express in words that 'you understand what and why it is, you'll make this science incredibly happy." She said.
-Social Studies-
"I screwed up...!" Araki said as he held onto the edge of the huge crater he was in.
Isogai looked back at him, holding his sword, "Phew, that was close. I got it right once I remember the symbol of the conference's importance."
"Isogai, you little... To think you'd best me on a Social Studies question!" Araki said.
Isogai smiled, "It wasn't on purpose."
-Japanese Lit-
Sakakibara looked back at Kanzaki, who was holding her naginata gracefully, "You're better than I thought you would be, E-girl!! Your face is beautiful but your words aren't shabby, either!!"
Kanzaki hit the monster, and it gave a "correct" mark.
"Still, this test won't be decided with the comprehension of one measly fragment! You need the strength to master the entire thing without losing any parts along the way!!"
-Mathematics-
Karma sat lazily in his chair, waiting for the papers.
Asano passed the papers behind him, "Math, huh. So Class E has Akabane among them. His midterm grade in math was 2nd only to mine, and he placed 4th overall. For someone in Class E, that's outstanding."
He looked up, "However, I have no blind spots in math or any other subject!"
Karma smirked, "...Oh my, the look in everyone's eyes sure has changed, huh..."
Karma and Asano held their guns, and walked forth towards the big arena.
-3 Days Later-
Koro-sensei stood in front of the class, holding many folders in his tentacles, "Well everyone, "I've received the grades for all of your subjects."
The class all looked at the alien, expecting to hear their scores.
"Well, I'll go ahead and announce the results. Starting with English... Class E's top scorer..." He started.
"And #1 in your grade was... Nakamura Rio!!"
Nakamura Rio, English: 100 points, ranked 1st.
He gave the paper to her, "A perfect score. I was worried though, since you weren't always that motivated."
Rio fanned herself, "Ufufufu~"
He gave Nagisa's paper to her, "Nagisa-san also worked hard, but you still need to work on that habit of of spelling things wrong where it really counts."
Nagisa looked at her paper, "Yeah..."
Shiota Nagisa, English: 91 points, ranked 6th.
Koro-sensei put a flag that said "Reserved for destruction" on his tentacle.
"In addition, since you also have the subject showdown with Class A, we'll see if you can congratulate yourselves after all the results have been handed out."
Seo Tomoya, English: 95 points, ranked 3rd.
"Moving onto Japanese Lit..." He reached into the folder.
"Class E's top scorer is... Kanzaki Yukiko!! But... The one who took first place in your grade was... Asano Gakushuu!"
Asano Gakushuu, Japanese Lit: 100 points, ranked 1st.
Koro-sensei said, "But you've improved by leaps and bounds. That itself is an accomplishment." Kanzaki smiled.
Kanzaki Yukiko, Japanese Lit: 96 points, ranked 2nd.
Sakakibara Ren, Japanese Lit: 94 points, ranked 3rd.
Maehara said, "Man, that Asano's really racking up the points..."
Mimura also spoke, "He's way too strong... Even in English he was 1 point away from Nakamura and ranked 2nd."
"Continuing on next is..." Koro-sensei continued.
"Social Studies!! Class E's top scorer is Isogai Yuuma, with 97 points!! And top in your grade is..."
Isogai listened closely.
"Congratulations! You bested Asano-kun and took the top spot!!"
Isogai stood up and cheered, "Yess!!"
Isogai Yuuma, Social Studies: 97 points, ranked 1st.
Asano Gakushuu, Social Studies: 95 points, ranked 2nd.
Fuwa cheered, "Now we're at 2 wins and 1 loss!!"
"Next up is Science, so it's Okuda!" Sugino said.
Koro-sensei said, "Class E's top scorer is... Okuda Manami!! And... Excellent job!! You were also #1 in your grade!!"
Okuda Manami, Science: 98 points, ranked 1st.
Koyama Nobuhiko, Science: 95 points, ranked 3rd.
The class all cheered, "3 wins, 1 loss!! Even without waiting for the Math results, Class E's already beaten Class A!!"
"Hell yeah!! Good work, Okuda! That tentacle is all yours!!
Kimura said, "So that means we'll be getting that as our prize."
Kurahashi smiled, "I can't wait!"
Nagisa remembered something, "Speaking of Math..." She turned around to see Karma not in his seat.
Nagisa figured that he was probably upset, and went out to search for him.
Karma was leaning on a tree, and bit his Math paper.
Akabane Karma, Math: 85 points, ranked 10th.
"Class E's just as strong as you'd expect. They took the top 6 spots in the composite ranks." It was Koro-sensei.
"It's a logical outcome. Everyone in Class A worked just as hard as hard as we did. The tests themselves were also far more difficult."
Karma faced forward, not facing him, "...Is there something you want to say to me?"
Koro-sensei stood behind him, green stripes appearing on his head, "How embarrassing~ You must have been thinking 'I'm so cool, it'll be an easy victory for me.'"
Karma's face became red, and clenched his hands.
"There are 3 students who earned the right to destroy my tentacles, Isogai-kun, Nakamura-san, and Okuda-san."
He rubbed Karma's head, "This time around, you weren't able to be of use in the assassination the class wagered."
"Do you understand now? Those who can't do what they should when the need calls for it will come to have no presence in this assassination classroom."
He kept rubbing his head with his tentacle, "You, who neglect to hone your blade, are not an assassin. You are just a child who proudly carried a rusted blade."
"Tch!" Karma flicked his tentacle away and started walking.
"Oi. Did you really have to say all that?" Karasuma-sensei appeared behind him.
"Don't worry, that feeling of frustration is the quickest path to recovery."
He turned back to Karma, who was walking away, "He has a wealth of talent. However, those blessed with such skills are prone to being inexperienced. It's dangerous for them to grow up without experiencing true competition. The sooner they know the frustration of defeat, the greater their growth will be."
He looked at Karasuma-sensei, "Tests offer a perfect opportunity to teach them the meaning of both strength and competition."
Karma kept walking, still frustrated.
"Upset?"
He looked up to see Nagisa, smiling at him. After seeing her, he got a little calmer.
"That's why I said not to be too confident!" She crossed her arms at him.
Seeing that he stayed quiet, she walked up to him, and gave him a piece of paper. Karma took the paper, looking at it.
It read "Nagisa Shiota. Subject: Math." He turned his attention to the score. It read "82."
"That's the highest I ever got in Math. It's thanks to you, Karma-kun!"
She blushed, "If it's alright, let's have another study session!"
Karma looked at her. By now, he already cooled down.
He smiled, "Yeah."
He went up to her and rested his head on her shoulder. Nagisa smiled and held his head, "Let's get back to class."
Karma has now joined the class again, sitting in his seat.
Koro-sensei said, "Well, you all had excellent results. There were 5 subjects plus the composite score for 6 chances. And you took the top spots in 3 of them."
"The 3 who ranked #1, go ahead and take whichever tentacle you like."
"Even if I lose 3, I'll still have plenty more. 6 would have been undoubtedly dangerous, though..." Koro-sensei thought.
"Hold up there, Octopus. There weren't just three people who hit #1 in the five subjects." It was Terasaka and his gang.
Koro-sensei turned to them, "There were, though, Terasaka-kun. When you combine Japanese Lit, English, Social Studies, Science and Math, you get..."
"Haah? You missed one, dumbass." Terasaka scoffed.
"If we're talking about the five subjects, they're Japanese Lit, Social Studies, English, Science, and..."
He put four papers on his desk, all showing 100 points for...
"The last one's Home Ec."
Koro-sensei started to sweat, "H... Home Ec!?"
Terasaka Ryouma, Yoshida Taisei, Muramatsu Yoshida, Hazama Kirara, Home Economics: 100 points, ranked 1st.
"Hold on a second! Home ec is a secondary subject, you know!! How could you four only take something like this seriously enough to get a perfect score!?" Koro-sensei complained.
Terasaka smirked, "No one said which five subjects we were talking about."
Hazama laughed, "Ku ku ku. The whole class was fine sith this idea."
Chiba turned to Karma and pointed at Koro-sensei, "Go on and tell him, Karma."
Karma smirked, "...Isn't it a bit rude to say Home Economics is secondary, Koro-sensei? It's said to be the greatest among the subjects, you know."
The class all pointed their fingers at Koro-sensei.
"Yeah, that's right, Koro-sensei!! You better keep your promise!!"
"Home Economics is the most important subject, and four people got the top scores in it!!"
"That's a total of 7 tentacles!!"
Koro-sensei shrieked, "7 tentacles!? Eeek!?"
Isogai raised his hand, "Also, I talked it over with everyone, and we'd like to be allowed to use the 'Loot' from our wager in this assassination, as well."
Nagisa smiled as she looked at everyone, and stopped when she saw Karma. She smiled at him, and he smiles right back.
