三/3
The scene starts, a fairly blue sky with visible clouds looming about and a stone sinking in a river.
The back of a young male with dark hair is shown, he seems to be wearing clothes that could be considered old-fashioned.
"Who do you think that is?"
"Given the way the scene is, I don't think it would be false to assume it's in the past."
"This time, I'll reach the other side for sure." He prepares his aim for another try.
Another stone zooms past his head successfully skipping to the other side.
"What was that?!"
"Who was that?!"
"If you wait a few more seconds, you would know."
"Just aim it a little higher than you'd expect. That's the trick."
"Does that really work?"
The dark haired doesn't seem to appreciate the advice, "I don't need you to tell me that."
"It will reach the other side if I put my all into it. Who the hell are you anyway?"
"He should take his advice. He isn't really... the best at this."
"Right now, I'm just your rival at stone skipping. Though mine has already reached the other side." This seemed to irk the dark haired youngster.
A different voice is then heard, "That was the first time I encountered Uchiha Madara."
"Uchiha Madara?" The Hokage looks at the screen in wonder. Was this really the First Hokage and Uchiha Madara when they were younger?
"Isn't he dead?" Ponders Naruto remembering the story of how the First Hokage killed him.
"I believe this is the past. And we are seeing the first meeting between the two." Answers Inoichi, clearly knowing a few other kids were wondering the same thing.
"I asked who you are?"
"It's Hashirama. I can't tell you my last name due to reasons."
"Why can't he tell him his last name?" Sakura brought up the question.
"In the past, there weren't villages like ours. Every clan was an enemy of each other, allies betrayed each other for the sake of their own gain. And among them, the Senju and the Uchiha clan had a name for themselves. They were the strongest in battles and at the same time were each other's biggest enemies. They could never get along. And in such times, giving away each other's family names would just bring danger upon the other and would also make the situation more complicated." The Hokage answered to the query of the young girl.
"I understand now, thank you Hokage-sama".
"No problem dear, doubts are meant to be cleared."
"Hashirama? Well you just watch. I'm gonna make it this time."
Hashirama's thoughts are then heard through the screen, 'The way he throws... I'm sure, it's the shuriken jutsu."
The black haired boy gives another try only for it to fail again in reaching the other side.
The kids who usually skip stones were surprised at his skills. This was suppose to be Madara? The Madara who was on par with the First Hokage?
He looks disappointed and embarrassed while the now identified Hashirama just stares at the scene before him with an unidentifiable reaction.
The black haired child then turns to Hashirama with a frustrated look pointing an accusing finger at him.
"Hey! You stood behind me on purpose to distract me!"
A few kids start laughing at the accusation, completely forgetting that the one they were laughing at could kill them in one hit.
Hashirama is still in a state of shock at the sudden accusation.
"I'm the type that can't even pee when someone's standing behind me!"
"Write that down! Write that down!" Shisui shakes the poor girl while shouting.
"I guess, we now know a weakness of Uchiha Madara. But to think that, this was his weakness is surprising." Jiraiya comments.
"This would be of no use to us. He's dead." Comments Fugaku.
"I think you might have jinxed it, Fugaku-sama." Ayako comments offhandedly gaining a look from Shisui who was sitting near her.
Hashirama then enters a depressive-like state with an aura surrounding him
"S-Sorry!"
The black haired boy, feeling a little guilty tries to cheer him up.
"Hey.... don't take it seriously. I was just making excuses, sorry."
"I...I didn't know that you had such an obnoxious self-diagnosed neurosis"."
This gained a round of laughter from the room. Who knew the First Hokage was like this?
"The First Hokage is not what I expected."
"I can't tell if you're a nice guy or a nasty guy!"
"I can't either."
There's a swift change in Hashirama's mood, he stands up and laughs, "One thing for sure! I'm better than you at stone skipping."
"Did his mood really change this fast?"
"Yes, he has always been the same in my memory. I remember Tobirama-sensei always scolded him for his behavior. The duo were quite an amusing sight. Ah, remembering the happenings of the past is making me feel old."
"It's not just the memories. You are old."
"Want me to skip you instead?"
That brought his mood down quickly, he was then back to his depressive corner.
"S-sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. To make amends, I'll let you throw me into the river.
Go ahead, throw me."
"Do you even notice your own obnoxious neurosis?"
"I just.. hope I reach the other side."
The crowd burst out laughing at their Hokage's response.
"You're a real eyesore! Get lost!"
Hashirama stands up to leave.
"Wait a second!"
"What is it? Why don't you be more clear?"
"I agree. He should be more clear. Why would he tell him to leave only to stop him before he could actually leave?" Itachi commented to himself.
"Don't overthink it." Shisui remarked.
Their conservation is disturbed when they catch sight of a dead body floating on the surface of the river.
"Is that.. a dead body?"
The parents were worried, they didn't want their children to know of the horrific battles of the past. This was a new generation, a new era and they wanted to protect them from the things that would come to harm them but it didn't seem likely so. They couldn't tell them to turn the other side because they all shared the same thought, maybe this would be for the better.
Yes, they were young but maybe, just maybe this would be beneficial for them in the future.
Knowing the dark times, knowing they had to train hard because peace is never lasting.
At least then they would live longer.
Hashirama swiftly runs on the water surface to have a closer look on the body.
The black haired boy then notices his use of chakra to stay on the surface of the water.
"Are you a shinobi?"
"Is he dumb?"
"No." "Yes." "Maybe."
"This location will become a battlefield soon. Go home."
Hashirama jumps over the body to the other side of the river, "Sorry, but I've got to go."
"So long. uh..."
"He didn't even ask his name."
"It's Madara.
Not proffering someone's family name to a stranger is shinobi law."
"I knew it.
You're a shinobi too."
"Yes, he is."
The voice from before is heard again as the screen starts to fade, "Our personalities differed and yet I sensed a mysterious kinship with him. I felt I knew why he had come down to the river too." The projection fully fades along with the voice.
"So, this is the end."
"This was an interesting clip as well. But I wonder when we would watch a clip of the future?"
"I agree. Watching the past is enlightening, knowing more about what happened and how they came to be. But at the same time, the future seems like a brighter choice."
"Maybe the next clip would be of the future?"
"Maybe."
Ayako was looking through her notes.
"Did you write what I told you to write?" Shisui questioned.
"I did. Although, I'm not sure why I did so. It's not like he would start to feel the urge to pee while in battle."
"You never know, Ayako. You never know."
Ayakos's notes:
The stone skipping scene (Hashirama and Madara)
Madara can't concentrate if you're behind him while he's peeing (Shisui made me write this)
