Chapter Thirty-Five: Lost In The Woods: Part Two
Liam's Pov
It took Tankhun and I the entire damn day to finally find some shelter.
It's basically the same place Kinn and Porsche were at, just a bit less creepy and we were able to build a fire so that way it wasn't completely dark.
I used the lighter I had with me to make the fire so that way I didn't waste time trying to rub sticks together to make one.
I may not smoke all the time but I'm glad that I always carry that lighter with me.
And I'm glad that it wasn't destroyed when the truck crashed.
Right now Tankhun and I are sitting on rocks, it was uncomfortable but someone didn't want to sit on the dirty ground, and staring at the fire in front of us.
Neither of us really knew what to say.
But the silence was awkward or tense. It was actually quite comfortable.
And at least we're not yelling at each other or getting even more frustrated.
So, that has to be something.
Right...?
"Do you think we're going to be found?" Tankhun asked, breaking the silence.
I sighed and shrugged my shoulders as I kept my eyes on the fire.
"Hopefully. Mr. Korn has trackers on Kinn all the time, he has to have one on you or at least something you own" I told him.
"I doubt that. Papa always cared more for Kinn's safety than mine" Tankhun huffed.
I frowned, "why would you say that?" I asked.
"It's true. Papa never really showed interest in me before and after my kidnapping. It's always been Kinn, especially after he became the heir" Tankhun told me.
At his words I found myself frowning even more.
I know Korn isn't exactly the father of the year, but does he really favor Kinn over his other two sons?
Does he not care about his sons? Is it really just the power that he cares about?
"I'm sure that's not true. Mr. Korn might not show affection, at least in front of us bodyguards, but I'm sure he does care about you" I told him.
"Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, who knows" Tankhun shrugged.
I let out a sigh but decided to drop the subject.
Especially when it's clear that he doesn't want to talk about it any further, which I don't blame him for.
Then I found myself asking something that just came into my head for whatever reason.
"What was your mother like?" I asked.
Tankhun's eyes widened and his head snapped into my direction so fast I was afraid he got whiplash.
"W-what?" Tankhun asked, stuttering slightly.
I blushed when I realized what I had just asked and cleared my throat, fiddling with my fingers.
"I'm just curious. You and Kinn don't really talk about your mother, neither does Mr. Korn. The same goes for the other bodyguards. I guess I'm just curious as to what she was like" I shrugged.
In the show barely anything was said about the mother of Tankhun, Kinn and Kim.
The same can be said for the mother of Vegas and Macau.
I get that they were just focusing on the love story between Kinn and Porsche, along with the drama that comes with the mafia life, but they could've at least mentioned a few things about their mother.
Maybe even shown a picture of her or talk about how she died.
But nothing.
Sue me for being curious.
The only thing I do know is that she's the complete opposite of Korn, that much is obvious, and Kinn takes after her.
"Uh..." Tankhun pressed his lips together, looking down at his lap.
I frowned and almost immediately felt bad for bringing her up when it's clearly a sensitive topic.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Tankhun. You don't have to tell me anything about her if you don't want to" I softly told him.
Tankhun let out a huffed of annoyance as he picked his head up and turned to look at me.
"First of all, just call me Tankhun. Second of all, it's fine. I was caught off guard by the question but I'm alright with answering" he told me.
I doubt that but I don't want to anger him so I just nodded.
Tankhun nodded back before taking a deep breath.
"My mother...well, what can I say? She was the best mother ever. Ever since I was born I was always attached to her by the hip. I was always calling for her. I remember Erika telling me that when I was only three years old I cried the entire day my mother was gone for work and didn't stop until she came home. I was, still am, a mama's boy" Tankhun explained.
A small smile appeared on his face as he finished and I found myself admiring that beautiful smile of his.
"You really loved her, huh?" I softly asked.
"Yeah, I did. She was always there for me whenever I needed her. She always gave me the best advice, always comforted me when I was upset and she would always watch whatever series I wanted" Tankhun softly smiled.
I let a small smile appear on my face at that.
I understand where he's coming from.
My mom was always there for me whenever I needed her. She was always there to cheer me up and she gave the best advice whenever I needed it.
The same can be said for dad.
Sure, sometimes the advice he gave wasn't nearly as great as moms, but they were still good.
And he was always there for me if my mom couldn't be there for me.
All those times I cried, doesn't really matter why, he always hugged me and comforted me and always told me that it was alright to cry and always told me that boys are allowed to cry just as much as girls.
I loved him and my mom the same.
I guess you can say I'm a mixture of a mama and daddy's boy.
"She sounds amazing" I softly smiled.
"She was. I wish you got the chance to meet her, she would've loved and accepted you like she did with every other bodyguard" Tankhun smiled.
"Really?" I asked in curiosity.
"Yes. Mother always accepted the bodyguards, whether they were newbies or have worked with us for a while, and she treated them like she treated my brothers and I. Everyone loved her like she loved them" Tankhun smiled.
"Now I really wish I got the chance to meet her" I told him with a small smile.
She sounds like an amazing woman.
And she must've really loved her sons. All three of them.
Unlike Korn.
Maybe they're better off without their father. Maybe their lives would've been better if their mother was still alive and raised them.
Maybe none of this madness would be happening if their mother was in charge rather than Korn.
Seems to me their mother cared more about her sons rather than the family business.
"Liam" Tankhun's voice snapped me out of it.
"Yeah?" I asked, turning to him.
"Where's your necklace?" Tankhun asked in curiosity.
I raised an eyebrow at that.
"What?" I asked.
"Your necklace, where is it?" Tankhun asked again, using his free hand to point towards my neck.
"It's right..." I trailed off while placing my hand over my neck.
My eyes widened and I looked down and saw that nothing was around my neck.
My necklace wasn't around my neck.
My necklace was gone.
"No, no, no, no" I began to panic.
"Hey, hey, calm down. It's alright" Tankhun quickly came to my aid.
"No, my necklace is gone. I had it on me before we got kidnapped and I know I had it on when we were in the truck" I told him.
Oh god please don't tell me it slipped off when the truck crashed.
Did it fall off when Tankhun and I woke up and began our hike into the woods?
Or did it fall off when those freaking goons entered my house and kidnapped us?
I stood up and tried looking around, trying to see if it was here and it fell off or something, but I could barely see anything.
The fire wasn't really helping and the fact that I was panicking more and more didn't help either.
"Oh god. I lost it. I fucking lost it" I breathed out.
Tankhun looked up at me in concern and quickly stood up, placing his free hand on my shoulder.
"Liam, please calm-" he started but I cut him off.
"I can't calm down! Please don't tell me to calm down! That necklace is the necklace my best friend gave to me and I promised to never take it off and to never lost it" I yelled.
That necklace is the only thing I have left of Jack.
That necklace was the only thing that was keeping me going because it felt like Jack was still here with me.
That necklace is something Jack gave to me and something I promised to treasure it.
And now I've lost it and I don't think I am ever getting it back.
"Look, maybe it's still here. Maybe it fell off before we started the fire" Tankhun said.
"I don't see anything around us! What if it fell during the crash and I didn't realize it till now?" I asked in fear.
Tankhun bit his lip and glanced around before his eyes met mine again.
"Look, maybe it's still near. Why don't we look for it together?" Tankhun asked.
"How? It's pitch black and we have no source of light other than our small bonfire?" I asked.
Tankhun opened his mouth to say something but closed it when he realized that I had a point.
I released a heavy sigh before plopping back down on the log we were sitting on, Tankhun slowly following my lead.
"Just forget it. It's long gone by now" I told him.
"Are you sure?" Tankhun softly asked.
I said nothing and just nodded.
I let out a yell of frustration before burying my head into my hands, trying my best not to cry.
Some might think I am just exaggerating because it's just a necklace and I can get another one that looks just like it.
And I don't care if they do think that.
And I don't want to buy another necklace.
That necklace was something Jack had gotten for me and that was something I have been wearing for years.
Now it's gone and it feels like I lost the only part of Jack I had with me ever since I entered this damn world.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders and I felt myself being pulled into the side of another person.
I said nothing, I didn't even remove my face from my hands, I simply leaned into Tankhun's side and basked in his warmth.
Being in his arms was more than enough to calm me down, even for just a little bit.
The Next Day
When the next day arrived and Tankhun and I woke up we were back to our hiking trip.
We can't take more breaks or stop. We need to keep on going so we can find a way out of here and get back home.
I'm honestly not sure if the others are close to finding us. I hope they are.
And I'm honestly not sure how long we have been walking, sometimes running, but it feels like hours.
And considering we don't have phones on us it's hard to tell what the time is.
I seriously just want to head back home. I want to be curled up in my nice comfortable bed while binge watching whatever is on Netflix.
I can't believe this is what Kinn and Porsche had to endure.
Now I'm kind of wishing I let them get kidnapped instead, but what's done is done and can't be changed.
"How much longer do we have to continue walking?" Tankhun asked.
"We have to keep going until we're at least close to being out of the woods" I told him.
"But I'm tired. My legs are killing me and my wrist is getting even more sore and red" Tankhun whined.
"It's not my fault those kidnappers of ours decided to handcuff us together" I scoffed while rolling my eyes.
"God, grumpy much" Tankhun scoffed.
I sighed and looked down at my feet, trying to calm myself down.
I guess it's fair to say that I am still angry and sad over the fact that my necklace is gone and that I'll never get it back.
But I shouldn't be taking my anger and frustration, not just about the necklace, out on Tankhun.
I have to remember that I am not the only one that was kidnapped and that has to deal with all of this shit.
And I have to remember that what's happened has happened and, as hard as it is to accept it, my necklace is gone.
"I'm sorry, Tankhun. Really. I'm just so tired, so hungry and so done with all of this bullshit" I softly said.
Tankhun let out a sigh before his eyes met mine.
"It's alright, Liam. I'm in the same boat as you. I just want this shitty day to come to an end" Tankhun said.
I nodded in understanding before running my hand through my hair.
Tankhun bit his lip, seemingly having an inner debate in his head, before sighing and bending down and putting his hand inside of his shoes.
I raised an eyebrow at that and was about to ask what he was doing when he stood back up with something in his hand.
My eyes widened when I saw what he was holding.
A bobby pin.
"Wh...where did you get that? Was that in your shoe the entire time?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, I always carry bobby pins with me" Tankhun nodded.
I stared at him like he's grown two heads or something.
"Why the hell didn't you take it out before? We could've used that hours ago, or even yesterday, to take the cuffs off" I asked.
His eyes widened at the realization and a blush of embarrassment appeared on his cheeks.
"I-I f-orgot" Tankhun told me, stuttering as he did so.
Internally, I facepalmed.
And I really had to hold myself back from smacking him upside the head.
I simply sighed before gesturing for him to give me the bobby pin and he complied.
I used the bobby pin to unhancuff us and thank god it worked and we were free.
"Oh thank the lords!" Tankhun yelled, a relieved smile on his face.
"Amen" I muttered with a nod of my head.
Tankhun started rubbing his wrist and I did the same after handing him his bobby pin back.
Those things really do hurt your wrist and I'm so glad that we're finally free of them, I don't think either of us could handle another day of being handcuffed.
"Alright, so what do we do now?" Tankhun asked.
I sighed, "well maybe we should just keep-" I started but was cut off.
"Hey, wait, do you hear that?" Tankhun asked as his eyebrows furrowed together.
"Hear what?" I asked in confusion.
"Listen" Tankhun whispered as he held a finger up, telling me to be quiet.
I complied and as silence filled us I began to hear what he was talking about.
It sounds like whirling.
It sounds like...
"Is that a helicopter?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"It's a helicopter!" Tahkhun yelled with a grin on his face.
His hand extended upwards and I looked up and my eyes widened when I indeed saw a helicopter.
Wait...
That doesn't make sense.
In the show the helicopter came at night when Porsche was ready to leave and Kinn was going to stay by himself and tell the others that Porsche didn't make it.
It's not even dark right now, it's still somewhat sunny.
"Is that your family's helicopter?" I asked while turning to the man.
"It has to be. Who else would be flying it?" Tankhun asked, sparing me a glance before looking back at the helicopter.
I opened my mouth to say something when Tankhun started waving his arms in the air, trying to get the helicopter's attention.
I bit the inside of my cheek and opened my mouth to tell Tankhun to stop when I heard something.
It was footsteps.
But it was also clicking.
The sound of guns clicking like someone was preparing them.
I pressed my lips together tightly and instantly scooted closer to Tankhun.
"Mr. Tankhun!"
The two of us glanced at each other before slowly turning around.
We saw a few men, wearing all black, rushing towards us.
And they were carrying guns with them and they were aiming it at us.
And one in particular was running towards Tankhun with his gun aimed at his head.
"GET DOWN!" I screamed at Tankhun.
Almost immediately he threw himself to the ground and that's when shots were fired.
I sprinted towards the man that tried shooting Tankhun and tackled him to the ground.
I recovered quickly and straddled his waist before punching him repeatedly in the face. When I was sure he was unconscious I got up, not before taking the gun from him.
As soon as I got up I heard someone running at me from behind and I spun around, shoving my fist into their face.
The man stumbled backwards and I didn't waste a second before sending a kick to his stomach that soon sent him to the ground.
"Stay down!" I yelled with a glare on my face.
The man glared at me with his teeth gritted and reached behind him, most likely for another gun or another sort of weapon.
I wasted no time and shot him in the stomach, causing him to yell in pain and clutch onto his wound.
I crouched down and turned him around and quickly grabbed a knife that was behind him before standing back up.
I turned around and saw Tankhun struggling to shove off another man that was trying to get his hands around his throat.
"Tankhun!" I yelled.
He turned to me and I quickly threw him the knife and he caught it with ease.
He turned back to the man and stabbed him in the stomach and the man gasped and his eyes widened as he now clutched onto Tankhun for support.
Tankhun glared down at him before twisting the knife that was still plunged into his stomach, causing the man to cry out in pain.
My eyes widened slightly at that and Tankhun took the knife out before shoving the man to the ground.
He was unconscious the second he landed on the ground.
"Asshole" Tankhun angrily spat while wiping some sweat from his forehead.
Why the hell did I find that hot?
I opened my mouth to praise him for what he had done when I heard yelling from behind me.
I turned around and saw another man running towards me with his gun aimed at me.
I quickly aimed mine at him and shot him in the neck and watched as he fell backwards with blood already oozing from out of his neck.
Still gripping onto the gun tightly, I walked towards the man I shot.
I had to make sure he was dead or at the very least unconscious.
"That better be the last of them" I muttered.
I crouched down in front of the man and checked his pulse. I huffed when I still felt one but it was weak.
If he dies I really don't care considering he and the others were here to kill us. So good riddance.
Now we need to get out of here in case more begin to show up.
Maybe we can...
"LIAM WATCH OUT!" Tankhun screamed.
I turned around just in time to see him running in front of me and then...
Bang!
My eyes widened and I felt my hear sinking all the way to my stomach, a feeling of dread coursing through me.
Tankhun gasped, his hand immediately going to the place he had been shot, as tears began to build in his eyes and blood started oozing out from his stomach.
"TANKHUN!" I screamed.
He stumbled backwards and I quickly wrapped my arms around him, pulling him close as I did my best to steady him.
I turned to the fucker that had shot him and aimed my gun at him, ready to pull the trigger, but the fucker was faster.
He aimed his gun at me and pulled the trigger.
I acted fast and threw myself and Tankhun to the ground and thankfully neither of us were hit.
But I felt something hard hit the back of my head and winced at the pain coursing through me.
I frowned when I felt something drip onto my neck and placed my hand behind my head, feeling something wet.
I pulled my hand back in order to see what it was and my eyes widened at what was not painted on my hand.
Blood...
I hit my head on a rock and now I was bleeding.
And to add to that I was beginning to get dizzy and my vision was getting blurry.
I turned to the direction of the fucker and saw him smirking down at us before aiming his gun at us, ready to pull the trigger once more.
I gritted my teeth and tried aiming my gun at him but I was beginning to falter due to my blurry vision and the fact that I was slowly losing consciousness.
Then all of a sudden...
Bang!
Bang!
Blood oozed out of the fuckers forehead and he dropped to the ground with a loud thud.
I turned my head around and saw people wearing all black running to the scene with guns in their hands.
I breathed out a sigh of relief and my grip on the gun loosened.
It was them.
They were here.
They saved us.
Tons of them had begun to scan the area to make sure the rest of the fuckers were dead.
And a few others had gone over to check that the fucker that shot Tankhun was dead too.
I let a small smile appear on my face as I slowly fluttered my eyes close.
The last thing I heard was Kinn and Porsche screaming mine and Tankhun's name before I slipped into darkness.
---------------------------------------------------
Hey guys, how are you? I hope you liked todays chapter.
I decided to do this chapter my way rather than trying to follow it the way it was in the show.
After all, this book is mainly focusing on Liam and Tankhun, not Kinn and Porsche.
Anyways, I'm sorry for the slow update. I have ideas for this book, believe me I do, but I have zero motivation.
And I've recently gotten back to school and already have tons of work so that's also keeping me busy.
So this book, along with my others, are going to have slow updates so I ask that you please be patient.
With that being said, I'll see you guys next time. Bye!
