Chapter Five: Job Searching

Liam's Pov

After I kicked Arthee out of the house, threatening him to never come back or he'll regret it, things have been doing pretty well so far.

Whatever troubles Arthee gets himself into, that's his problem, not ours.

I refuse to let him drag us down into his problems. Absolutely refuse.

Unfortunately, we still have to worry about the debt on this house, thanks to Arthee's stupid gambling addiction.

I have to find a way to make that money to pay off the debt.

The last thing I want is for Porsche and Chay to lose this house.

It's the house of their parents. They don't want to lose that, I won't let them lose this house.

I have to make the money, pay off the debt and tell the loan sharks to stay the hell away from us.

If they want to go after Arthee then that's fine.

But they have to leave us alone since we're no longer associating ourselves with him.

Because if they come after either of my brothers, they'll regret it.

Obviously, I had to tell this to Porsche and he agrees.

We both need to earn money and the money we each make, we can put it together and hopefully pay off the debt.

We both agreed to not tell Chay anything. We don't want him worrying.

I want my newfound, adorable, little brother to worry about school and boys.

Mainly school. I do want him to get an education.

However, if he so did get himself a boyfriend, I would totally support that.

And, you people might want to murder me because of this, but I rather Chay get a boyfriend that isn't Kim.

Now, before you plan my murder, hear me out!

I just think that Chay deserves better than Kim.

Don't get me wrong, they really are a cute couple and Kim does seem to really love Chay.

But...he did use him to gain information about his and Porsche's life.

Not to mention he shattered Chay's heart into pieces.

I understand that he did it to keep him safe. Believe me, I do.

Kim does come from a mafia family, his father is a manipulative bastard, and he doesn't want Chay to get dragged into his problems.

But, couldn't he have found a different way to let him go?

I'm sorry to the Kimchay shippers, but I would prefer Chay to find someone else.

Now, moving on from that, I really have to find myself a job.

Funny thing, I learned from Porsche that I'm also a bartender, just like him.

The only difference is I might be handsome to girls and boys, mainly boys, but I don't take any of them out back like Porsche does with the girls.

I'm just glad I used to be a bartender back in my world.

I really have to give credit to Jack since he was the one that pushed me to get a job after graduating highschool.

And since we're on the topic of jobs, I'm going to go searching for one right now.

Yes, I'm already a bartender, but that's not enough.

I need to find another job that makes more money.

The money Porsche and I made and put together isn't enough to pay off the debt to make sure we keep this house.

That's why a second job is needed.

It's early in the morning right now and Porsche and I are making breakfast.

Chay was still asleep and we decided to let him sleep until we were finished with breakfast.

He was still shaken because of last night. Really, really shaken.

Porsche and I were obviously worried so we decided to sleep with him in his room, to make him feel safe and warm.

And I can't complain because cuddling with both my brothers was awesome.

But, it did bring back memories of when Jack and I would cuddle, whether it was during our movie nights or if I had nightmares and needed his comfort.

Especially when the nightmares involved my parent's death...

I shook my head and focused on the eggs that I was cooking, I don't want to accidentally burn them.

"Are the eggs ready?" Porsche asked.

"Just three more minutes" I smiled.

"Perfect. The bacon is almost done too" Porsche smiled.

I smiled and nodded.

I've always been a good cook.

Mom and Mrs. Baker taught Jack and I to cook when we were 14 years old, especially when they saw how interested we were in learning.

I'm glad we learned because, it was very fun, and we can cook whatever we want for ourselves.

Once breakfast was done we set everything on the table.

"Shall we wake Chay?" I asked.

"No need. He always wakes up on his own once he sniffs the smell of the delicious cooking" Porsche chuckled.

And he was right.

Chay came running downstairs the second he sniffed the smell of breakfast.

It was amusing, truly it was.

It reminded me of Jack flying downstairs whenever his mom made breakfast, lunch or dinner.

And the amount of times he fell on his ass made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes.

"Good morning, nong. Come on, breakfast is ready" Porsche smiled.

Chay's eyes brightened when he saw the food on the table.

A happy squeal escaped his lips and he ran towards the table, quickly sitting down so he could dig in.

Porsche and I looked at each other before we began laughing, completely amused by Chay's actions.

We then joined him as Porsche sat next to Chay while I sat across from them.

Together we all began eating breakfast, sighing in content because of how good it was.

God, I could eat this all day.

I smiled as I watched Porsche and Chay converse with each other, they occasionally threw in a few jokes, sometimes had mini food fights and laughed happily.

God, I don't think they've ever been this care free.

I'm happy I got rid of Arthee. Like I said, that man brings nothing but trouble.

"I have something to tell you both" I spoke up.

Porsche and Chay stopped what they were doing and turned their heads around to look at me.

"What is it, hia?" Chay asked, tilting his head to the side.

I swear to god I mentally cooed at his cuteness and had to stop myself from pinching his cheeks.

Focus, Liam. Focus.

"Well, since our useless uncle doesn't live with us anymore..." I trailed off.

"Liam" Porsche scolded.

"Oh come on, you know I'm speaking the truth" I defended.

"He is, hia" Chay nodded, backing me up.

I smirked proudly while Porsche looked at Chay in shock and slight betrayal.

Ha! It's good to know my little brother has my back.

"Anyway, moving on, just because Arthee no longer lives with us doesn't mean we're going to live happily. We still need money" I explained.

"Which is why you and I work as bartenders. We make enough money like that" Porsche frowned.

We do, but it's still not enough.

Not to mention we need the money to pay off the debt in order to keep this house.

And we need money for many other things, especially Chay's school tuition fees.

"But still, we need more money, especially to pay off the debt" I sighed.

"Hia, if you want, I can-" Chay started but we cut him off.

"No!" Porsche and I yelled in unison.

"I didn't even finish my sentence" Chay pouted.

"It doesn't matter because we know what you were going to say. Our answer is no" Porsche sternly said.

Chay huffed and shoved more eggs into his mouth.

I chuckled and reached over to ruffle his hair, he was seriously too adorable not to love.

"Don't worry, nong. You won't need to do anything because I have decided to get myself a second job" I smiled.

Silence.

Silence took over as neither of my brothers said anything.

Not even a second later their mouths opened, but it wasn't to speak lightly.

"WHAT?!" Porsche and Chay downright screamed.

I flinched, dropping my fork, as I covered my ears tightly with my hands.

Dear god, they just ruined my eardrums!

"What the hell?!" I yelled, glaring at them.

"What do you mean you're going to get a second job?" Porsche asked, staring at me like I'd grown a second head.

I rolled my eyes and slowly removed my hands from my ears.

"First, warn me before you start screaming like a banshee" I glared at them.

Chay blushed in embarrassment, looking a little guilty for screaming.

Meanwhile, Porsche rolled his eyes, deciding to ignore what I just said.

"Second, what's wrong with me getting a second job?" I asked.

"Liam, it's not necessary to get a second job. We're bartenders and we earn alot of money as it is" Porsche said.

"We only earn lots of money because you take girls out back and they tip you more" I rolled my eyes.

I'm not judging, I'm just stating the truth.

"It doesn't matter. My point is that you don't need to tire yourself out more with a second job" Porsche sternly said.

"Brother, we need more money. The fridge is slowly running out, we need more clothes and Chay's school tuition fees need to be paid" I explained.

Chay sighed and looked down at his plate, picking at his food.

He must feel guilty for causing us more trouble with money because of those fees.

We don't blame him. He should know that.

"Liam, I'm the oldest here and you should understand that I'm just looking out for you. Especially your health" Porsche said.

"I understand, hia. I do. But I don't care if I tire myself out. I only care about us earning more money so we can at least live a decent life" I explained.

"But that should be my job. As I said, I'm the oldest" Porsche frowned.

"Hia, you've already done so much, let me do something for a change. After all, I'm the oldest too" I softly said.

The last thing I want is for Porsche doing all the work on his own.

He struggled in the series but he always hid it so that Chay wouldn't worry.

I won't let him struggle. I refuse to let that happen.

"I...I don't know" Porsche sighed.

"Hia, please. We need the money. My #1 priority is you and Chay" I softly said.

Porsche pressed his lips together, clearly trying to come up with a decision.

He glanced between Chay and I before letting out a sigh of defeat.

"Alright, fine" Porsche nodded.

I smiled brightly at him.

"Just as long as you find a job that isn't dangerous" Porsche said.

"I promise" I smiled.

I reached over to grab his hand, gently caressing the top of it.

"Thank you, hia. You're the best" I softly smiled.

Porsche's eyes softened as he nodded, sending me a soft smile.

Chay reached over and placed both his hands on top of ours, causing us to smile at our baby brother.

A Few Hours Later

After my brothers and I finished breakfast Porsche and I cleaned up while Chay went to his room to play video games.

When I was done helping Porsche clean the dishes I took a shower and got changed.

I made sure to look presentable, at the very least, but still made sure I was comfortable.

Once I was done fixing my hair I grabbed my phone before bidding goodbye to Porsche and Chay.

It's time for job searching.

I actually had searched up a few job openings online before I had left and luckily for me there were a few options.

However, I had my eyes on three main ones that seemed to make the most money.

Substitute teacher

Babysitting

Opening at a club

I do love teaching kids, but I might not be able to be a substitute teacher.

Mainly because I need a degree and I don't really have that. In this life or my previous life.

And while I would do babysitting, I need experiences and I don't have much of that.

I used to babysit with my mom, not for the money, but because I figured I could spend more time with her that way and I love kids.

But, I stopped babysitting after her and dad died.

I...I just couldn't do it without being reminded of all the fun memories we made.

Ok, moving along from that, the last option for me is that opening at a club.

It wasn't too far from where I was currently at and, fortunately, the only experience required is dancing.

And it just so happens that I'm a great dancer.

Jack and I didn't take those dancing lessons for nothing.

Although...why would I need to dance at a club...?

Clubs already have music and drinks, do they need like a dancing group or something?

It doesn't matter. The money that the workers make there is good enough for me.

After making my way to the location, by that I mean walking for nearly three hours, I finally arrived.

I tried my best to shove my nerves down before opening the door and walking inside.

However, I feel my nerves coming back up, but for a reason.

I don't think they are open right now, given that the place is empty, there are literally zero people here.

Of course, not including the workers.

I saw a young woman by the bar, wearing a bartender uniform, wiping down the counter.

"Uh, excuse me, miss" I softly spoke up.

The woman looked up and furrowed her eyebrows together in slight confusion.

"Yes? Can I help you?" the woman asked.

"Yes. I looked at the website of this place and saw that they're hiring and I'd love to apply" I politely said.

The woman's eyes widened in realization and she nodded her head.

"Ah, yes we are" the woman nodded.

She placed the rag somewhere and wiped her hands before walking towards me.

"Follow me. I'll take you to the owner, aka, my boss" the woman said.

I nodded and followed her as she led me to the back of the club.

"One of workers recently quit and we need someone to replace them" the woman said.

"Is there a reason why they quit?" I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me.

"Yes, they got promoted somewhere else and decided to take the chance" the woman said.

Ah, that makes sense.

"Oh, where are my manners? My name is Emma Anuman" the woman, Emma, introduced herself.

I smiled and nodded my head, making sure to wai since that's how you greet someone in Thailand.

"Very nice to meet you, Ms. Anuman. My name is Liam Kittisawat" I smiled.

"Aw, you're so sweet. And please, call me Emma" Emma smiled.

"If you insist" I chuckled softly.

She led me to a door that was at the back of the club. My guess is that it's the bosses office.

"Now remember, be polite, but don't show fear. Mr. Anurak loves confidence as well as people sticking up for themselves" Emma offered me some advice.

"Be polite but show confidence. Got it" I nodded.

Good to know. Good to know.

Emma smiled at me before turning around as she knocked on the door.

"Enter" a deep voice could be heard from inside.

Emma opened the door, gestured for me to follow, and walked inside.

I took a deep breath and walked in behind her.

When I walked inside I was met with a middle aged, but good looking, man sitting on his chair with a wine glass in his hand.

Damn, he's hot...

No! Stop it, Liam!

Remember, he's too old for you, he's probably married or in a relationship and he's going to be my boss.

If I get the job, that is...

"Mr. Anurak, we have a young man here that wants to apply for the new job" Emma said.

Mr. Anurak hummed as he made eye contact with me, scanning me up and down.

I swear to god my nerves were surfacing again, but I have to remember what Emma said, show confidence.

Don't be intimidated by him.

"State your name" Mr. Anurak demanded.

"Liam Kittisawat" I replied with confidence and zero fear.

Mr. Anurak eyes widened ever so slightly, not expecting me to answer the way I did.

Meanwhile, Emma smiled proudly at me, nodding in approval.

What? Did previous people/workers get nervous just by introducing themselves?

"So, Emma tells me you're here for the job opening, correct?" Mr. Anurak asked.

"That's correct, sir" I nodded.

"I must ask, what's your reasoning for picking this job? Surely you would have some other options" Mr. Anurak asked.

"That's correct, sir. I did have other options, but I turned those down for reasons. And I do have reasons for picking this job" I nodded.

Mr. Anurak hummed as he took a sip of his wine.

"Care to share with me those reasons" Mr. Anurak raised an eyebrow at me.

"The first reason is my family and I have money problems. My brothers and I lost our parents years ago and we're struggling to make money so we can still have a roof over our heads. My second reasoning being that I do love working and seeing that the experience for the job I'm applying for is dancing, it seems to be a piece of cake for me" I explained.

Even though Mr. Anurak kept a strong and stern gaze at me as I spoke, I didn't show fear.

Not even when I spoke, my confidence was still there, not once did I falter.

And of course, not only did I speak with confidence, I also spoke the truth.

If there's one thing dad always told me is to speak high but also remain truthful.

Mr. Anurak hummed as he set his wine glass down, slowly standing up from his chair.

"I hope you understand that this job is something to take seriously. It's not something to be messed around with" Mr. Anurak said.

"I do understand, sir. Believe me. I might be carefree and a goofball outside of work, but during work, I'm serious and focused" I sternly said.

"Are you telling the truth? After all, nobody likes a liar" Mr. Anurak mockingly asked.

I bit the inside of my cheek, stopping myself from cursing at him.

Remain calm, Liam. Remain calm.

Don't let your annoyance or frustration get the best of you.

If there's one thing my mom has always told me is to never start shit but never take anyone's shit.

And I certainly won't be taking his.

"With all due respect, sir, I am telling the truth. Feel free to call me whatever you want, but don't call me a liar because I'm not that" I calmly spoke.

Mr. Anurak stared at me in silence, but I could tell he was surprised.

Emma's eyes were wide open and her jaw was touching the floor.

I spared her a glance, offering her a small smile, before turning back to Mr. Anurak.

My face returned to a serious look.

"You can believe me or not, your choice, but I'm not lying about my reasons for this job. Especially my family. And if there's one thing that matters the most to me is my two brothers. I would do anything just to make sure they live well" I confidently spoke.

Silence.

Absolute silence took over.

Between the three of us, we didn't say anything. Nor did we do anything.

We just stood where we were in complete silence.

However, Mr. Anurak broke that silence when he let out an impressed chuckle.

"I can tell you and I are going to get along just fine, kid" Mr. Anurak smirked.

I swear to god I wanted to drop to my knees, especially when they felt like jelly.

"Does that mean...?" I trailed off.

"Yes, you're hired. You've got the job" Mr. Anurak smiled, extending his hand for me to shake.

A bright smile appeared on my face as I let out a breathless laugh before shaking his hand.

"Thank you very much, sir" I nodded.

"Of course. I need someone like you here. The guy who quit was nothing like you" Mr. Anurak grinned.

Why do I feel so proud just because he said that?

I nodded, again, before we pulled our hands away.

Emma let out a squeal before rushing towards me, engulfing me in a tight hug.

"Oh, congratulations! I knew you could do it" Emma grinned.

I chuckled before hugging her back, feeling as excited as her.

Although I had to admit her hugs were pretty strong, I felt some of my air being taken away.

"Emma, let the poor boy go, you might suffocate him" Mr. Anurak teasingly smiled.

Emma let out a small squeak before pulling away from me, sending me an apologetic smile.

I smiled back at her and waved her off, reassuring her that it wasn't that big of a deal.

"Now, Emma, give Liam show him where he'll be working. And then give him his uniform for when his first day arrives" Mr. Anurak said.

"Of course, sir" Emma bowed.

She gestured for me to follow her and I did just that.

I made sure to close the door to Mr. Anurak's office on my way out before following Emma.

"I'm so happy you got the job. You've got potential and I can tell you'll get along just well with the other workers" Emma grinned.

"I hope so" I chuckled.

Emma led me back to the club and continued walking to the other side of it.

That's probably where I'll be working.

"So, what exactly is my job? Other than dancing, of course" I asked.

Emma grinned as she stopped, causing me to stop as I stood next to her.

"This is where you'll be working from now on" Emma said.

She reached her hand over to turn the lights on so that I could see better.

I covered my face with my hands, the light was too bright, before removing them.

However, as soon as my eyes laid at the sight in front of me, I felt my knees growing weak and my air being taken away.

Again...

"You're going to be a stripper alongside your new workers that are also strippers" Emma finished.

I'm sorry...did I hear that correctly...?

Did she just say I'm going to be a stripper...?!
