Chapter Eighteen: Tankhun Squad
Liam's Pov
Baking with Macau and Chay was really fun if I do say so myself.
The entire time we were in the kitchen we were talking and cracking a few jokes, laughing from time to time.
It ended up getting messy when Chay decided to throw flour at me and I threw some back at him.
Macau joined in on throwing flour, but that little traitor decided to team up with Chay and they both threw flour at me.
The audacity, I swear.
And well, considering we got distracted due to our flour war, the cookies never got into the oven.
But, we did successfully make a mess in the kitchen.
That has to count as something.
Obviously nothing good, but at least it's something.
"Well, uh, this certainly has 'trouble' written everywhere" Macau joked.
"No shit" I snorted.
"Shouldn't you be worried? What if your boss sees this and you get in trouble?" Chay asked in concern.
"Don't worry, Chay. The meeting is still going on so we've got plenty of time to clean this mess up" I reassured him.
"As well as ourselves" Macau added.
"And actually put the cookies in the oven" Chay added.
"And those things too" I nodded.
The three of us looked at each other, glancing around the room, before locking eyes with each other again.
Then we burst out laughing.
I don't know why we were even laughing.
But, considering the situation we were in, it was a little understandable for us to laugh.
We were literally just going to make cookies yet we ended up having a war with flour.
We made a mess and while we had to clean it up, it was amusing.
This entire situation was amusing.
We were laughing so hard that Chay ended up leaning against Macau, trying to hold himself up because he would've fallen to the ground.
Macau didn't mind and leaned against Chay himself, holding himself up too.
I was holding myself up by leaning against the counter, pounding on it gently.
Well, not really gently, but you know what I mean.
Finally, we stopped laughing, and let out huge breaths we had been holding.
Macau and Chay realized they were still leaning against each other and blushed like tomatoes and moved away from each other.
"Sorry" Chay cleared his throat.
"I-It's fine, I guess" Macau shrugged, not making eye contact with him.
I stayed leaning against the kitchen counter and watched their interaction with amused eyes.
I'm definitely looking forward to them getting to know each other better.
I rolled my eyes fondly before pushing myself off the counter.
"Well, come on kiddos. Lets clean this up, clean ourselves up and finish with the cookies before the meeting ends" I smiled.
Chay and Macau looked at me and nodded.
With that, we began cleaning the place before we could clean ourselves and finish the cookies.
A Few Hours Later
I'm very sad to say that the meeting has ended and it was now time for Macau to head home.
Macau was clearly disappointed himself, he really didn't want to go home, but he knew better than to complain or disobey.
And given who his dad is, he really doesn't want to do either of those things.
I desperately wanted to keep Macau at my side the entire time, but I can't.
After all, I'm literally just a bodyguard.
When the cookies were done I decided to grab a handful and put them into a container for Macau to take home with him and share it with Vegas.
Before I took Macau outside him and Chay exchanged numbers and goodbyes before Chay left for his room.
With that, I escorted Macau out of the kitchen and to the entrance where his father and brother were waiting.
We still weren't there but we were close by. We were just walking down the hallway together.
"Well, I think it's fair to say that you're now my new best friend" Macau grinned.
"Glad to hear that" I chuckled.
"I'm serious. I actually had fun here today. I usually get bored or annoyed just by stepping foot into this damn house. But, you actually made me smile and laugh today" Macau explained.
He ran a hand down his face, sighing slightly.
"I actually felt like the kid I should be rather than who I was raised to be" Macau muttered.
That alone made me want to cry and hug him and never let him go.
Macau is too young for this. Way too young.
He shouldn't be involved in any of the family business but he doesn't really have a choice.
I hate that he was born into this life. He nor Vegas experienced a normal childhood because they grew up in the mafia and I hate it.
I swear to god that when everything is over, I'll make sure they get the happiness they deserve.
"Well, I'm happy you're happy. And I'm happy you and my nong are friends. You two really hit it off" I smiled.
"Yeah, we did" Macau smiled slightly.
The blush was apparent on his cheeks and I had to stop myself from laughing like a pig.
He's already crushing on my nong and I honestly ship it so badly.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around his shoulders, making him jump slightly.
"Well, you should come over often. That way we can spend more time together. Not just you and me, but you and Chay too" I suggested.
"I'll definitely come over more. That's a promise" Macau smiled.
I smiled back at him before ruffling his hair, earning a glare and a pout.
After a bit more walking we finally made it to the entrance where we were greeted by the others.
And by that I mean the bodyguards, Kinn, Korn, Kan, Vegas and Porsche.
Good to know he didn't cause any trouble that could've ended with him getting choked and passing out.
As soon as our presence was known everyone's head snapped in our direction.
Kan and Vegas were staring at Macau and I with furrowed eyebrows, one of confusion and the other of shock.
Guess they weren't expecting a main family bodyguard to be with Macau the entire time.
Let alone to see the said bodyguards arm around their son's/brother's shoulders.
Macau tensed but he calmed down when I gave his shoulder a comforting squeeze.
I looked at the others and saw the bodyguards, Kinn and Korn staring at me with surprised eyes.
Porsche had an eyebrow raised at me but he just looked confused.
I cleared my throat and guided Macau outside the building, still not removing my arm from his shoulders.
"I'm sorry for the wait. I was just preparing a snack for Macau before he left" I politely spoke.
Mr. Kan raised an eyebrow at me, eyeing me up and down in confusion and suspicion.
I was slightly intimidated by his stare, but I didn't falter nor look scared, I refused to show fear.
"Macau was with you the entire time?" Vegas asked.
I broke eye contact with Kan and looked over at Vegas.
"Yes, he was. We met in the garden and I decided to keep him company" I replied.
Macau, after sneaking a glance at his father, looked at his brother and nodded.
"It's true, hia. I was with Liam the entire time and we had lots of fun together. He even made me cookies" Macau smiled.
The bodyguards and Kinn stared at Macau with dumbfounded looks.
I forgot that Macau barely says anything to his family and mainly keeps to himself. And he's hardly ever cheerful or happy.
This must be a surprise for them.
Porsche just smiled at me while Korn hummed and nodded.
Vegas stared at me. I couldn't tell if he was confused, surprised, happy or jealous.
Why he would be jealous? I have no idea.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Kan cleared his throat and nodded his head.
"Well, thank you for keeping him company, but I'm afraid we must leave" Kan said.
I gave him a tight smile and nodded my head.
"Of course, Mr. Kan" I bowed.
I hate having to bow for that bastard but I can't do or say anything if I wanna keep this job.
I side hugged Macau and ruffled his hair before pulling away from him.
Macau huffed but smiled at me and waved before getting into the car.
Vegas spared me a glance before getting into the car.
Mr. Kan stared at me before nodding at his family and the main family bodyguards before getting into the front of the car.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
I'm literally tired.
Maybe, just maybe, I should've stayed in bed to rest.
At Night
The sun had already gone down and Kinn had called Porsche and I into his room to bring him a coffee.
I decided that I would let Porsche make the coffee and carry the tray into the room.
I only taught him how to make the coffee correctly so that Kinn wouldn't react the way he did in the show.
When we were done with that we walked into his room and we saw Kinn sitting on the couch, reading a book.
Porsche sighed and set the cup down on the table before putting the tray aside.
Kinn looked up from his book and sent my brother a look.
"I didn't burn your house down, so be glad for that" Porsche rolled his eyes.
I sighed and shook my head while the tiniest smile appeared on Porsche's face.
"I made you coffee. And before you ask, it's not poisoned" Porsche said.
Kinn raised an eyebrow at him before turning to me.
I smiled and nodded my head, confirming that he was telling the truth.
Kinn nodded and set his book aside before taking the cup into his hand.
He shot Porsche a glance before taking a sip of the coffee. I watched in satisfaction at the way his eyes brightened in delight.
"Wow. It's really good" Kinn complimented.
"Of course. I made it after all" Porsche smugly smirked.
Yeah, because I helped you.
But I decided to let him have this moment.
"Well, thank you" Kinn nodded, the tiny smile reappearing.
Porsche's eyes widened slightly, he clearly wasn't expecting Kinn to ever say those words to him.
He let a tiny smile appear on his face as he nodded his head before looking away.
I internally smirked when I saw his cheeks turning red ever so slightly.
Kinn, not noticing my brother's blush, turned towards me and pinched his eyebrows together.
"You know, you're really starting to impress me a little more than last night" Kinn said.
"How so, Mr. Kinn?" I asked.
"Macau doesn't really hang out with any of the bodyguards. He usually keeps to himself whenever him and his family come over for meetings. Seeing him with you surprised me" Kinn explained.
I honestly should be awarded for the amount of times I impress Kinn.
Then again, I do have an advantage given the knowledge I know about this world thanks to the amount of times I spent watching this series.
"I guess I'm easy to talk to and hang out with. I really did enjoy the time I spent with Mr. Macau" i explained.
There was no lie when I spoke.
I truly did enjoy the time I got to spend with Macau.
After all, he's still just a kid and he deserves to have fun and I'm glad I was able to give him something he barely gets, especially at home.
Not to mention I got him and Chay to know each other and they're already friends.
Although, something tells me that they're bound to be more than friends in the future.
Not that I'm complaining.
I already ship them and have a ship name in my head.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard footsteps and I straightened up, already knowing who it was.
Tankhun, wearing his extravagant outfit, walked in with Pete.
Pete stood where he was while Tankhun stopped in the middle of the room.
He spared Porsche a glance before his eyes locked onto mine.
"Liam" he spoke.
"Yes, Mr. Tankhun?" I politely asked.
"I heard you were spending time with Macau. You even made him some cookies" Tankhun raised an eyebrow at me.
"Yes, I did" I nodded.
"Why would you do that?" Tankhun asked.
I frowned at him while raising an eyebrow in confusion and slight shock.
Does he really not get along with either Vegas and Macau and prefer that they're far away from him and his brothers?
I know they don't have the best relationship, but that's just sad.
"Well, he's a nice kid and I didn't want to leave him alone. He would've been bored. Plus, it was nice hanging out with him" I explained.
And I got him and Chay to meet, that's definitely something as well.
"Why do you care? Not many bodyguards would've done what you did" Tankhun asked.
"Well, he reminds me of Chay. They're both the same age and their personalities are similar. And, well, when you get to know him he's really lots of fun" I explained.
People always seem to judge others just based on how they look and who their families are.
Me? I'm not like that.
One thing my parents have always told me is to never judge a book by its cover.
If I actually talked to the person and get to know them more, you see a whole new side to other people.
And it's worth it because that person could end up being one of your greatest friends.
If Tankhun, Kinn and Kim knew that Vegas and Macau go through in their house with their bastard father, they would take back every bad thing they ever said about them.
Tankhun stared at me, his expression was blank, and crossed his arms over his chest.
I'm not sure if he was angry at my response or confused...
I realized that it was neither when a small smile appeared on his face.
"You and I are definitely going to get along just fine, that's for sure" Tankhun nodded.
I jumped, a little startled, when he stood next to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
I also had to stop myself from laughing when he had pushed Porsche away so that he would be able to stand at my side.
Porsche sent him a glare and just rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"I like you and I want you with me more often" Tankhun declared.
He turned to look at Kinn, who looked up from his book to meet his eyes.
"I want your bodyguard for the rest of tonight" Tankhun said.
Porsche's eyes widened while Kinn raised an eyebrow at his older brother.
"Really?" Kinn asked, a little surprised.
"Yes. And in exchange for Liam, I'll give you Pete" Tankun said.
Pete, whose eyes widened slightly, just sighed and shook his head.
He was probably expecting that, but his eyes also showed relief, like he was happy to be away from Tankhun.
"Well, only if Liam is alright with it" Kinn turned to me as he spoke.
Tankhun looked at me with narrowed eyes while Porsche and Pete looked at me expectantly.
Are they expecting me to decline?
Because if that's the case, I'm ready to give them a surprise.
"I don't mind, Mr. Kinn" I smiled.
The widened eyes from Pete and Porsche, and the raised eyebrow from Kinn, was definitely worth it.
"Are you positive?" Kinn asked.
"100%" I spoke confidently.
Kinn stared at me for a second before sighing and nodding his head.
Tankhun let a huge grin appear on his face, clearly happy at the outcome, before letting out a squeal.
"Oh, we're going to have so much fun! Trust me, you'll love it" Tankhun beamed.
I simply laughed and nodded, completely amused by his reaction.
He nodded at Kinn and Pete, eyed Porsche a little, before taking my hand into his.
With that, we were off to his room.
In Tankhun's Room
The entire time Tankhun was dragging me to his room we received many odd looks from the other bodyguards.
Some of them gave me looks of pity, but I settled on just ignoring them.
I honestly didn't mind Tankhun dragging me to his room. And I certainly don't mind getting to spend more time with him.
Yes, I'm a little confused why he didn't take Porsche, or take both of us.
But, I don't care, I just care about getting to spend more time with my favorite character.
Finally, we made it to his room and Arm, Pol and Pravat were already there waiting for us.
The three of them were surprised to see me but nevertheless still very happy.
Although, just like the bodyguards we passed before, they were also looking at me with pity.
I sat with the three bodyguards on the couch while Tankhun sat on the floor as he turned on the t.v and put the series on.
I have to admit I was very interested in the series Tankhun had put on.
I'm honestly not sure if Arm, Pol and Pravat were pretending to be interested or just really tired.
Tankhun was busy watching the show while the three bodyguards were trying their best not to fall asleep, otherwise their boss will get angry.
"I'm sorry you've gotta suffer with us" Pravat patted my shoulder.
"I agree. You're just gonna get tired and bored like the rest of us" Arm nodded.
I shook my heads at them in amusement.
"Oh come on, it's not so bad. I'm actually liking this" I chuckled.
"Seriously?" Pravat asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah, I could use a break and have fun. Especially after what happened that night I protected Mr. Kinn from the lady" I explained.
"You're not pretending, are you?" Pol asked.
"No. I'm serious. Besides, I've never watched this before, it looks interesting" I shrugged.
"Trust me, you'll get bored of it sooner or later. I've watched this series for three times, man" Arm sighed.
Pravat and Pol nodded while I rolled my eyes and laughed softly.
They don't understand how lucky they are to be with Tankhun. He's an overall amazing person.
"Liam!" Tankhun yelled.
The others jumped, clearly startled, while I turned to the man.
"Yes, Mr. Tankhun?" I asked.
"Come, sit next to me. I don't want to be alone on the floor" Tankhun demanded.
He didn't give me time to respond and grabbed my arm and pulled me to sit next to him.
I yelped in surprise by the sudden action, letting out an 'oof' as I collided into his side.
That was definitely unexpected. Not that I'm complaining, it simply caught me off guard but I'm fine.
I glanced at the others and saw them staring at Tankhun in disbelief.
I'm going to assume that he hardly ever does with any other bodyguard. This must definitely be something new.
If it is, I honestly have no objections.
The entire time we had been watching series, Tankhun's attention was on the t.v the entire time.
While the others were trying their best not to fall asleep, I was busy watching the series with Tankhun while munching on some snacks.
Once I'm invested on a show, I'm gonna want snacks.
Thank god Tankhun pretty much has everything here whenever he's watching the series.
"Liam" a voice broke me out of my thoughts.
I realized that the owner of the voice was Tankhun, who was staring at me with furrowed eyebrows.
"Yes, Mr. Tankhun?" I asked.
"Forgive my staring, I was simply admiring your necklace" Tankhun revealed.
Huh...?
My eyes widened slightly and I looked down to see my necklace around my neck, clearly visible to Tankhun and the others.
I forgot to cover it up after Macau, Chay and I got ourselves cleaned up.
"Oh, uh, thank you" I nodded.
"Yeah, Liam. It's a really nice necklace" Pol smiled.
"I remember everyone eyeing it when you and Mr. Macau came down. We've never seen you wear it before" Arm frowned.
"Oh, I've always had it with me, I just kept it hidden most of the time" I shrugged.
"Any reason why?" Pravat asked.
I frowned and looked down at my necklace, a hint of a smile appearing.
I placed my hand onto my necklace and began fiddling with it.
"It just reminds me of my best friend. He got us necklaces. Mine is this key while his is a heart" I explained.
A small fond smile appeared on my face as I did my best not to tear up.
Pravat noticed and sent me a small soft smile.
"You really cares about him, huh?" Pravat asked.
"Yeah, I do" I nodded.
Jack will always be my best friend, my number one best friend.
I might've made some new friends in this world but nobody could ever replace Jack let alone take his place.
And it's sucks that he isn't here with me when I desperately want him by my side.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and saw Tankhun staring at me with worried eyes.
"I'm sorry, Liam. I didn't mean to bring up some bad memories" Tankhun softly said.
"There's no need to apologize, Mr. Tankhun. I promise, I'm alright" I reassured him.
I honestly wasn't sure if I meant it or I was just saying it to make him feel better.
After all, I'd hate for him to think it's his fault when it was nowhere near his fault.
Tankhun nodded at me, letting it go, before turning back to the t.v to resume watching the series.
I sighed and crossed my arms over my chest and went back to watching the series as well.
Although, after bringing up Jack because Tankhun asked about my necklace,
It just makes me realize how I long for my best friend. How I wish he was here with me. How I wish I could hug him and tell him everything that has happened in this world.
And speaking of Jack, I really hope he's doing alright back in my world.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Tankhun gently hit my shoulder, bringing me back to reality.
"Yes, Mr. Tankhun?" I asked.
"Pay attention, please. I want your opinion on the series and I won't be able to get that if you're distracted" Tankhun softly but sternly said.
"Yes, Mr. Tankhun. I'll pay more attention" I nodded.
"Good" Tankhun smiled brightly.
I smiled back at him and watched him turn his full attention back onto the t.v to resume watching the series.
The smile on Tankhun's face was so genuine and so bright, I was mesmerized by it.
I want him to smile all the time. I hope he does
His smile brightens my entire world, even when I'm feeling down when memories of my other life are brought up.
