CHAPTER SIX,
the governor.
Aiden glared at the back of Glenn's head as he and Maggie flirted back and forth. She finally had enough, "guys! Shut up!" She hissed.
Both shut up and stopped their flirting after that. Aiden watched as the car slowed to a stop in front of a brick building. The three got out and Aiden pulled out her gun.
"Clear outside." Maggie said.
"Alright, let's take a look." Glenn responded.
"Hey." Maggie said and the two kissed.
Aiden rolled her eyes at them as the kissed again. "Come on, lovebirds. We ain't got all fucking day."
Glenn was in and out of the store quickly. Finding ammo, formula and even a rubber duck for the baby.
"We just hit the powdered formula jackpot." Glenn said excitedly. "I also got beans, batteries, cocktail wieners, many mustards. It's a straight shot back to the prison from here. Probably make it in time for dinner."
"I like the quiet. Back there, back home, you can always hear them outside the fence no matter where you are." Maggie stated.
"And where is y'all good people are calling home?" Aiden heard an oddly familiar voice. She pulled her gun out quickly and aimed it at his face.
"Merle?" Aiden and Glenn said at the same time. "Holy fuck." Aiden muttered as she looked him over. Merle laughed and set his gun down.
"Wow!"
"Hey, back the hell up!" Maggie yelled at him when he walked closer.
"Okay, okay, honey." Merle said. "Jesus."
"You made it." Glenn said stiffly.
"Unfortunately." Aiden snarled.
"Can you tell me, is my brother alive?" Merle asked them and Aiden's entire body tensed. Merle noticed that. "Huh?"
"Yeah." Aiden bit out.
"Hey, can you take me to him and I'll call it even on everything that happened up there in Atlanta." Merle said to Glenn and Aiden. "No hard feelings. Huh?"
Merle noticed Glenn's eyes move to his right arm where a knife had replaced his hand. "You like that? Yeah. Well, I found myself a medical supply warehouse. Fixed it up myself. Pretty cool, huh?"
"We'll tell Daryl you're here and he'll come out to meet you." Glenn said to the oldest Dixon.
"No we won't." Aiden hissed. Merle's attention turned to her and realized she hadn't moved a single muscle, she kept her eyes locked with his and her finger hovering over the trigger. "Daryl isn't stepping near you, psychopath."
"Hey, the fact that we found each other is a miracle. Come on now. You can trust me." Merle said to them.
"You trust us. You stay here." Glenn snarled. This pissed Merle off and he reached for his gun quickly, firing into the back windshield of the car.
Glenn and Maggie didn't hear Aiden's grunt of pain when one of the bullets landed in her shoulder. Merle quickly grabbed ahold of her and held her in a headlock.
Glenn and Maggie rounded the car and pointed their guns at Merle, Glenn's lip twitching when he saw Aiden's bleeding shoulder. "Hey, hey, hold up, hold up."
"Let go of her. Let go of her!" Glenn yelled furiously. Seeing his best friend bleeding on the ground and in Merle Dixon's grasp set off something inside him.
"Put those guns in the car right now. Put it in the car, y'all!" The two listened, knowing it would be Aiden's life if they didn't.
"There ya go. Now we're gonna go for a little drive." Merle said.
"We're not going back to our camp."
"No, we're going somewhere else. Get in the car, Glenn! You're driving! Move!" Merle yelled, pressing the barrel of the guns harder into Aiden's face.
"Don't!" Glenn pleaded.
"Please!" Maggie begged.
»
Aiden glared at the concrete floor that was coated in her own blood. Merle Dixon has tried to get her to talk but she kept her mouth closed the entire time.
The longer she stayed quiet, the harder Merle hit her. "Where y'all hold up?" Merle asked her.
"I'm not telling you shit." She hissed. Merle landed a blow knocking her head to the side.
She spit her blood into the floor and glared at him. "How'd good ol' big brother go?" Merle taunted.
"He was murdered in cold blood." Aiden's lips curled.
"What'd he become? A psychopath. You'll be just like him." Merle said.
"I won't be." Aiden hissed. "I'll be worse." Aiden promised before she spit her blood in Merle's face. She watched as he flinched back and clenched his jaw. He wiped it from his face and grunted as he landed several more blows across her face.
His thumb pressed into the gunshot wound on her shoulder, her scream ricocheting off the walls. Glenn and Maggie both flinched at the sound.
"Tell me where y'all at!" He screamed in her face.
»
Aiden was beaten and bloodied. Her lip was busted, her nose broken, her shoulder shot, her eye was swollen shut and her had been cut across the face by Merle's knife.
He had finally left her alone after he said, "I'll be back with a guest in an hour."
It had been fifty-nine minutes since he said that. Aiden could hear the footsteps and she looked up when the door opened.
Merle walked in with another man behind him. "Merle." The man said and Merle left. He sat down across the table from Aiden.
"Merle told me you don't talk. Is that true?" He asked her. Aiden didn't respond. "So he was right. He also told me your big brother had the loudest mouth."
"Shut the hell up! You didn't know him." She hissed.
"Oh, so she speaks!" The man cheered. "I'm the Governor. I already talked to your friend, Maggie. She is a pretty one."
Aiden's head snapped up and her eyes hardened. "What did you do to her?"
"Nothing. Just showed her who's the boss." He smirked. Aiden didn't like this man. "She said she wanted to talk to Glenn and Aiden. You're Aiden?"
"You're sick." Aiden said to him.
"You are. Merle told me you know Andrea and his brother. How do you know them?"
"Andrea? How the hell do you know Andrea?" Aiden asked.
"Where's your group located?" He asked her.
"I'm not telling you."
"You will." The Governor hissed. "And if you don't...well you might not even leave this room."
"Are you saying you're gonna kill me?" Aiden asked him with narrowed eyes. "Cause if you are, go ahead cause I'm not talking. Do what you have to do."
The Governor glared at her and pulled out a gun, aiming it right between her eyes. "Tell me where you group is." He seethed.
"No." Aiden repeated. The Governor seemed to be fed up with Aiden's bullshit and stood up furiously.
He cut the duck tape holding her arms down and yanked her up by her hair her. Aiden's eyes filled with dread as she relived horrid memories.
Her best friends in the rooms on both sides of the room she was in flinched when they heard the slam.
Aiden grunted when the Governor shoved her against the wall. "Fuck you." She hissed. The man grunted as his fist flew across her already beaten face. Her body fell to the ground and she spit blood onto the floor. The Governor began to kick her sides repeatedly.
He only left after he believed she had taken enough.
Aiden Walsh was left bloodied on the cement floor. Her blood stained the floor underneath her and the table she was sat at before.
Aiden knew she could endure more than this.
Because she was a Walsh.
