Chapter 3

A/N:

What's this, what's this? This chapter's pretty great!

So... it's been a month since the last chapter, and I feel horrible for making y'all wait so long.

Remy chuckled, "More important things like the fact that I love you."
I chuckled also and didn't hesitate to whisper, "I love you, too."
And, at that moment, I truly believed it.|

Roman POV:

I woke up the next morning, still leaning against my door. Reaching a hand up to my face, I could feel where my tears from last night had dried. There were two tracks running down my cheeks and some of my neck.

A heavy sigh escaped me, and I leaned my head back against my door. I felt like such an idiot for even thinking that I had a chance with Virgil.

I sat like that for a while, lacking the motivation to get up and do anything. I wanted to just sit there, and forget about everything.

A knock on my door startled me slightly, but I still refused to move.

"Who is it?" I asked, quietly, my voice hoarse from crying.

"It's Patton," he said. "Breakfast's ready. I made waffles."

"I'll be out in a few minutes," I sighed, knowing that that would make Paton happy.

In reality, I didn't want to ever leave my room again. I wanted to just curl up into a corner and die. I felt so stupid and worthless. I was the only side in the Mindspace that isn't in a relationship, and it was hard to think about. Patton had Logan, and Virgil had Remy.

I had me, myself, and I.

I sighed C'mon, Roman. Don't feel bad for yourself. You've got a job to do.

I did have a job to do. I had to make sure Thomas worked on today's video.

Setting my jaw, I stood up and stumbled over to my bathroom. I stopped in front of the sing sink, my hands holding me up. I looked in the mirror, and my jaw dropped when I saw just how much of a mess I looked.

My hair was standing up in every direction, and my face was a discolored mess. My cheeks were still red from crying, along with a few patches of my forehead.

I grumbled to myself as I turned on the water, rinsing off my face to try and make it look even the slightest bit better. Once I had dried my face, I grabbed my comb and attempted to tame the mess that sat on top of my head. It took me a few minutes, and a handful of gel, but I was finally able to make myself look somewhat presentable.

Walking out of my room and into the kitchen, I saw Patton sitting next to Logan while he worked on some sort of word puzzle.

"Greetings, Patton and Logan," I called as I walked in and took my seat. "Where might Virgil be this fine morning?"

"Oh, he's hanging out with Remy," Patton chirped, looking up and grabbing a waffle off of the pile in the middle of the table. "He stopped by a while ago to get the two of them some breakfast."

"Oh," I mumbled, grabbing a waffle for myself. "Does he know that Thomas will be recording today?"

Logan was the one to respond this time. "It is most likely that he does know, as Thomas has been nervous about this video for the past few days."

"Fair point," I said, picking at my waffle.

"You okay, kiddo?" Patton asked, and I looked up to see him looking at me.

"Yeah," I murmured, looking back down at my half-eaten waffle. "I'm just not that hungry."

"But Roman," Patton protested. "You've barely eaten your waffle."

"I woke up hungry in the middle of the night and had a big snack," I lied, trying to think of something that would make sense.

"Well then," Patton said slowly. "I guess that's okay. Just make sure you eat if you get hungry before lunch, alright?"

"Alright," I sighed, getting up from the table and heading back to my room.

Once I got to my room, I closed the door behind me and flopped down on my bed. I felt so tired, probably because I had slept while leaning against my door.

I closed my eyes, trying to take a nap, but I was interrupted by Thomas summoning me.

"Greetings, Thomas!" I exclaimed, rising up in my designated corner of his living room. "What is it that you need my help with today?"

"Well," Thomas started. "I just wanted to go over the script for the video one more time before we started recording, and I wanted your help."

~~~~~
After half an hour, Thomas and I had read through the script and fixed anything that we didn't like, and we were ready to start recording.
"Thanks for your help, Roman," Thomas said as he made last-minute adjustments to the cameras.
"It was my pleasure, Thomas," I said with a slight bow. "I'm sure that everyone will love this video."
"I hope so," Thomas chuckled, walking over to his area of the living room. "Now I just have to make sure Logan, Patton, and Virgil are on the same page as us."
With that, he raised his arm to summon them, but only Logan and Patton appeared.
"Hey, kiddo!" Patton cheered. "What is it that you need?"
"Salutations, Thomas," Logan greeted formally. "How may we be of assistance?"
"Hey," Thomas started, glancing at Virgil's usual spot. "I was gonna, uh... check in with you guys about the script...."
I could tell that Thomas was distracted, as he kept glancing towards the stairs. I was rather concerned, too, as it was unusual for Virgil to not show up when he was summoned.
"Well," Logan stated. "If you are going to talk to us about the script for the video, wouldn't it be necessary for Virgil to be present?"
"Yeah, it kinda is," Thomas said. "And I tried summoning him with you and Pat, but he didn't show up."
"Well," Logan replied, adjusting his glasses. "That's slightly disconcerting."
A/N:
I've got quite a few ideas for what I want to happen in this story, and I'm so excited.
Until next time,
Take it easy guys, gals, and non-binary pals!!!
