Chapter 9
Gavin looked down at his phone, checking all of his social media for what seemed like the millionth time this hour. Time had been going by so slow since that kid left. Gregory, was it? For some reason, that Gregory guy was quite familiar to him. Maybe they knew each other in a past life. That's when he heard a voice call his name. It was his brother, of course. He couldn't go a day without that dweeb needing his help.
"Gavin? Could you come here real quick?" Johnny questioned from the doorway. He frowned, looking over at the teacher. She was practically asleep at her desk. That speech must've really worn her out. Gavin sighed, standing up from his uncomfortably small chair. He didn't bother asking to leave.
"What do you need?" Gavin asked. Johnny didn't say a word as he led him down the hall and into a nearby bathroom. His eyes widened when he saw Gregory and who he assumed to be his twin on the floor, covered in blood.
"Oh. Hey Gavin." Gregory sighed, waving to him. He waved back.
"Uhh... hi. What happened here?" Gavin muttered, handing a wad of paper towel to the one with the blood nose.
"T-thanks." the boy whispered, holding it to his nose. He seemed to be a bit shaken up, so Gavin decided not to talk to him for right now. He knew that people found him intimidating, and he liked it that way... for the most part. For some reason, it didn't really bother him that the kids face was covered in blood. It almost seemed normal.
"As you probably figured out, there was a fight. I basically called you here for your help to... well... clean up the scene." Johnny explained. Gavin frowned.
"The 'scene'?"
"Follow me." his twin ordered. He hesitantly did as he was told, walking down the hall and into a small subsection. Gavin let out a gasp of horror.
"What the heck?! Is-... is he dead?!" Gavin exclaimed, staring down at the unconscious boy on the floor. Johnny shook his head.
"He's still alive. The boys have made it our job to carry him to the nurses office... but we can't tell anyone what happened, otherwise they'll get in trouble." Johnny told him. Gavin just nodded slowly, still in shock that this guy was beaten so badly by that little dude in the bathroom. He must've been one hell of a pansy.
"...and what if I tell them who did it?"
"...I would be mad at you." Johnny said plainly. Gavin rolled his eyes, smiling.
"Scary. I won't tell, I promise. You know, I met Gregory in my first hour. We talked for a while, but he didn't tell me that he had a twin."
"And what do you think of them?" Johnny questioned as he rolled up his sleeves.
"I... I don't know. Gregory seemed really familiar to me, but his twin... I must have met him somewhere before. There's no way I haven't." Gavin mumbled. Johnny stopped, glancing up at him with a look of what seemed like curiosity on his face.
"Familiar, huh?"
"Yeah. It's just weird is all." Gavin sighed, scooping the knocked out teen into his arms. Johnny nodded slowly.
"Well it certainly sounds odd. His name is Jimmy, by the way." Johnny muttered, picking up the bloodied textbook. Gavin just nodded, now preoccupied with the body he was carrying. He followed his brother to the nurses office, allowing his twin to enter the room first. For some reason he felt really nervous. He knew it wasn't his fault that this kid had his brain spilling out of his ears. Gavin set the teen down on the nearest cot, then quickly stepping away. He looked down at himself, letting out a frustrated groan. His shirt was a total mess. He waited for Johnny to finish talking to the nurse before they walked back out into the hall.
"Hey... do you have a jacket or something? It probably wouldn't be best if I walked around with a blood stained shirt all day." Gavin mumbled.
"Yeah, I think I have a hoodie in my locker you can wear. After this we should go check on the twins." Johnny told him. Gavin nodded. With that, the two made their way to Johnny's locker. They did their best to avoid people so they didn't look suspicious. Gavin sighed. He had only lived in America for a few weeks and he was already assisting with what seemed to be an attempted murder. He sighed. It was going to be a long day.
