Chapter 32

Gavin let out a little yawn as he rested his head on his backpack, pushing in his earbuds . He had always hated economics, so he didn't feel too bad about sleeping through it. In only a few moments he could feel his body starting to relax. Gavin was just about to fall asleep when he felt a strange energy. As though he was being watched. Opening his eyes, he frowned when he came face to face with someone he understood to be the weird kid of the class named Carl. He had no idea who the hell named their kid Carl in 21st century, but there he was.

"... hey." Gavin mumbled, giving him a polite yet drowsy smile.

"Hello. You and I are partners for this lab."

"Oh, ok. What are we doing?"

The teen just stared at him for a moment, clearly not knowing if he was serious or not. After determining he was, he just shook his head.

"We need to make a presentation on stocks."

"Stocks?"

"Yeah. If you don't have any notes you can use mine." Carl told him.

"Thank you! That's really nice of you." he sighed, smiling. The smaller teen pushed the notebook over to him, causing Gavin's eyes to widen. This kids writing was tiny, not to mention extremely messy. He brought the paper closer to his face, frowning when he noticed that the writing was in a deep red ink that seemed to be smudged. Not wanting to bother Carl anymore, but slowly began to decipher what it said. After at least 10 minutes, he let out a frustrated huff, resting his face on his backpack once more. He was only able to get a few sentences done before he brain kind of just gave up on him. Gavin was about to fall asleep once more when his phone buzzed. It was Jimmy.

"Hey, Gav. Are you busy?" the younger teen asked.

"Not really. Why?"

"I need you to meet me in the bathroom. The one near the cafeteria."

"Ok...? Is everything alright?"

"Yeah. Just hurry up."

Gavin stood, quickly leaving. Any excuse to leave class was a good one. Walking to the bathroom, he could hear quiet sniffling coming from the room. He entered. Everything seemed normal, aside from the tiny red droplets that seemed to form a trail on the floor. That's when he noticed that the mirror was broken. Glass filled the sinks.

"... Jimmy? You in here?" Gavin questioned, looking around. The sniffling stopped, and a hoarse voice answered.

"Help me."

"What?"

"Help. Please"

He frowned a bit. Gently pushing the stall door open, he gasped. It wasn't Jimmy at all, but some random underclassmen. His face was home to multiple cuts, as well as a few bruises. Gavin crouched in front of the boy, who flinched.

"W-What the hell happened here...? Who did this to you?!" he asked. Just as the teen was about to say something, he stopped, his face growing pale. He lifted his arm, pointing to something behind him. Fear filled his heart as Gavin slowly turned, his eyes growling huge. Before him was Jimmy. His whole front was covered in blood, and his lips were curled into a twisted grin. In his hand he had a large shard of glass. The look in Jimmy's now bright red eyes made him shutter. Gavin stood in front of the injured boy protectively. It was all too apparent what had happened here. Jimmy giggled at the sight.

"What's wrong, Gavin? Why are you looking at me like that?"

"You know why, Jimmy."

"Of course I know, I just wanted to hear you say it. I'm not stupid. ... why don't you let me finish what I started, and then we can talk?" he purred. Gavin shook his head.

"No. Let him go."

"You know I can't do that."

"... then kill me. Let him go and take me instead."

Jimmy suddenly broke into a crazed laugh, doubling over in pure amusement. Gavin, however, wasn't amused at all.

"Oh, that's rich! What makes you think that I want you dead?"

"... do you not want me dead?" Gavin mumbled. Jimmy giggled.

"You're my best friend! I would never want to hurt you. But him... he's a witness. He needs to die." he told him. The kid looked terrified. Without thinking, Gavin helped the underclassman to his feet. With one swift movement, he used his body as a shield and pushed the kid through the small exit. Everyone was surprised by this, especially Jimmy.

"Go! Run!" Gavin yelled. The kid did as he was told, and Jimmy growled, throwing the shard to the ground. It shattered. Gavin slowly began to back away, trying not to freak out. His friend looked downright feral. He knew he was in big trouble now.
