Chapter 30
Johnny let out a little yawn as he shuffled towards the entrance of the school, Gavin close behind. He was tried, and even felt a bit sick. Stinging cuts covered his body, and his joints were aching. Brushing his normally brushed back bangs out of his eyes, he pushed open the cafeteria doors. Johnny sighed, knowing that today was going to be pretty rough. That was, until he saw Gregory and Jimmy standing in the usual meeting spot. He smiled, quickly making his way over.
"Good morning, you two." he greeted. The twins both looked up at him and grinned, although they both seemed a little more forced than usual.
"Hey guys. How are you feeling Johnny?" Gregory asked.
"A little tried, but I'm alright otherwise."
Gavin shot him a look, but didn't say anything.
"That's good. We were pretty worried about you, you know."
"Well thank you for the concern, but I'm fine. Really. How are you two this morning?" Johnny questioned. He frowned a bit when his friends fell silent, glancing at each other. His heart immediately sank at the look on their faces. Jimmy's especially. The younger teen's aura reeked of guilt and shame. Gregory motioned for him to lean in, and so he did.
"Jimmy had an episode this morning. A really bad one." Gregory whispered. Johnny was shocked.
"What did he do?"
"Well, I noticed that he was talking to himself a lot this morning, but before I could even say anything, he went on a rant about how the voices in his head are 'good', and how they're 'helping him'. After I disagreed, and suggested that we tell mom, he-... he attacked me."
The teen's voice was shaking by the end. Johnny felt just horrible for his friends. He had no clue that Jimmy was that mentally unstable.
"That's awful! Are you ok?"
Gregory let out a quiet sigh, and without a word he pulled down his hoodie a bit. Johnny couldn't help but gasp. Around his neck was a ring of dark bruises, as well as a few cuts where Jimmy's nails must've dug into his skin. Gavin noticed this, his eyes growing huge.
"What the-?! What the hell happened to you?!" the Brit gasped. Johnny exchanged a look with Gregory. They had been talking a bit about telling Gavin and Jimmy about the other timeline, but they just weren't sure. Now that this had happened, however, Johnny felt his brother should at least be in the know about something.
"... come with me, Gavin. I-... I need to tell you something."
With that, the two broke away from the group. Johnny led Gavin to a more private area where there were almost no people. As soon as they got there, Gavin started questioning him.
"What the heck is going on, Johnny? Why did Gregory look like he got choked out? ... do you know who did it to him?!" his twin asked. Johnny let out a huff. He had no clue where to start. There was just so much to tell him. After a moment of silence he decided it would just be best to tell him about Jimmy only, since it was the most relevant at the moment.
"Jimmy did it to him, Gavin. You see, Jimmy is... sick. Mentally. We don't know exactly what's wrong with him, but we do know that he hears voices. Not only does he hear voices, but he also sees things and has violent episodes. That's why Gregory has bruises on his neck." Johnny explained. Gavin looked completely heartbroken.
"That's-... that's horrible..."
"I know. I'm supposed to be making a sort of pill to help him calm down, but since my transformations have been acting up, I can't."
The look on Gavin's face turned from sorrow to determination. He stood up straight.
"You know what, if you give me the instructions I'll make them myself!" Gavin told him, smiling.
"Really? It's quite complicated."
"Yes really! I want to help."
Johnny smiled a bit. It was nice to know that Gavin was so willing to help out.
"That's awesome, Gavin. Thank you. Now, lets get back to the twins! They're probably wondering where we are." Johnny sighed. The two quickly rejoined their friends. He watched at his brother waked up to Jimmy, immediately giving him a hug. The younger teen seemed to understand this, quickly hugging Gavin back. Johnny just shook his head, wrapping his arm around Gregory's shoulders comfortingly. He had a feeling that today was going to get a whole lot worse.
