Chapter 12

The rest of the day came and went without incident, something Jimmy was thankful for. He was nervous about going home though. The school had definitely called his mom and told her what happened by now. He knew that she was going to have one of two reactions. She was either going to be super angry or super worried... maybe both.

"Jimmy? Are you ready to go?" Gregory questioned, causing him to jump. He didn't realize how hard he had been spacing off.

"I'm ready." Jimmy sighed, pulling his bag over his shoulder. He followed his brother away from his locker and towards the buses. That's when he heard a familiar voice from behind him. It was Gavin.

"Taking the bus, huh?" he asked.

"Yeah... we don't have our licenses yet." Jimmy told him, shrugging. Gavin nodded slowly.

"I see. Would like a ride home? I'm sure it would be a lot quicker and far more comfortable... I think." Gavin mumbled, smiling. The younger teens glanced at each other, exchanging a few words before ultimately agreeing to the idea. The three made their way to the car to see that Johnny was already standing there, waiting.

"Oh! You two are riding with us?" Johnny questioned.

"Yep! Gavin offered, and he made the good point that it would probably be quicker and comfier than riding the bus." Gregory explained. Johnny nodded before turning away, sitting in the front. Jimmy gasped as a small could of dust escaped from one of the many mechanisms beneath the cushion. It certainly wasn't the classiest ride in the world.

"How old is this truck?" Jimmy asked, looking up at his friend. Gavin's cheeks turned red with embarrassment, looking away.

"Lets just say that it's older than both of us... combined." he sighed, moving the drivers seat so they could get in the back. Jimmy watched as Gregory pull himself up into the truck, grabbing his backpack from the ground below. Jimmy was next, gripping one of the nearby handle bars. Unlike Gregory, he wasn't able to pull himself up. His feet kept slipping out from under him.

"Need help over there?" Johnny questioned, looking over from his seat. Jimmy shook his head.

"N-No. I've got it!" he exclaimed, putting his bag down on the floorboards. After a minute or so of trying, Gavin just reached forward, grabbing him by the hips.

"What the heck are you doing?!" Jimmy screeched, kicking his feet violently as he was lifted into the air. He could feel his face begin to burn.

"Oh hush, you little gremlin. I'm helping you." Gavin sighed. Jimmy felt an odd sense of trust and stopped struggling, allowing himself to be placed in the back seat. He cleaned the pollen and dust off of his glasses. Gavin sat in his own seat, starting the car up.

"Address?" Johnny asked.

"108 Ashford Drive." Gregory told him. The car sped down the road, Jimmy staring out the window at all the passing buildings and people. They even passed his favorite store. Before he knew it, they were home. That's when he noticed that there was already a car in the driveway, and his mom was standing right next to it. He watched nervously as she walked right up to the car.

"Can I help you?" she questioned, looking up at Johnny. The older teen was about to reply when Gregory popped forward, giving her a huge smile.

"Hi mama!" he called. Her eyes softened instantly.

"Hey baby! Is your brother in there with you?" she asked. Gregory just nodded before getting out of the car. Jimmy reached forward, giving Gavin a quick hug.

"Thanks for the ride." he sighed, giving him a small grin as he carefully hopped onto the ground.

"You're welcome. I'll see you tomorrow."Gavin purred. With that, the older teens were gone. The twins turned to their mom, Jimmy trying his best to hide his face from her. The three walked inside before she suddenly got very serious.

"Gregory, go upstairs. Now." she ordered. Jimmy mouth the words 'help me', but his twin was powerless against their mothers wrath.

"Momma... just let me explain. Please." Jimmy begged.

"There's nothing to explain, James! I-I just can't believe that you would do something like that! My god... what got into you?!" she yelled. Jimmy winced, a sudden pain shooting though his spine and up into his skull. He couldn't help but hold his head, the pain intensifying as his mother continued to rant and rave.

"I-I'm sorry."

"Apologizing isn't going to pay for the school property you destroyed! You know how stupidly expensive those textbooks are, right?!" she hissed. Jimmy's eyes widened.

"Wait... you're not mad that I hurt one of my classmates?"

"What? Oh, not at all. That little jerk deserved what you did to him. However, you will be paying for the book." she told him.

"Oh. Ok. How much is it?" Jimmy asked.

"80 dollars. Now, come over here. I need to make sure that your wounds are cleaned properly." she sighed. Jimmy held still as his mom began to buzz around him, checking every single cut and bruise he had before finally letting him go. He walked out into the backyard, his head throbbing. The pain had subsided, and all that was left was the soreness. Jimmy sat down in the grass, enjoying how soft it felt in his fingers. He was just glad that his mom wasn't angry about the whole attempted murder thing. Well, he wasn't trying to kill Eric, just incapacitate him... permanently! Killing him really did sound great though. The thought of it made him smile yet cringe at the same time. He was truly conflicted.
