"tonight's looking pretty darn busy," namjoon grinned, his eyes scanning the crowd at deville.
"well, with winter creeping in, it's no wonder everyone's flocking here before the snow traps us in," jungkook remarked, taking a sip from his beer can.
"and that means the season of being flat broke is just around the corner," jimin sighed, leaning against the wall next to jungkook.
"it's still a month away," jungkook shrugged, keeping it casual.
the three of them exchanged knowing looks, fully aware of who was gonna feel the pinch the most.
"don't gimme those worried stares; i've handled it every year," the green-haired guy retorted, giving jimin and namjoon a side-eye.
"you could always join my old man's business, jungkook. we can work together," namjoon suggested, knowing full well jungkook would likely turn it down.
"nah, man, you know i ain't cut out for all that corporate stuff. i'll figure something out," jungkook replied, not really having any solid plans for the near future and not really wanting to think about it now.
"i freaking hate being broke!" jimin shouted, stomping his feet on the ground, drawing the attention of a few onlookers. namjoon and jungkook just laughed at jimin's playful outburst.
amidst the bustling night, jungkook couldn't shake off the events of the previous night; they were firmly etched in his mind.
he anxiously awaited taehyung's arrival, not because taehyung had promised to be there tonight, but because he yearned to see him. it was a strange feeling, one he couldn't quite explain. after all, taehyung was so full of himself and had taken advantage of jungkook whenever the opportunity arose. jungkook should have hated the mere thought of that handsome face.
yet, there he stood, engrossed in conversation with jimin and namjoon, secretly anticipating taehyung's appearance.
jungkook didn't have to wait long, though. soon, the unmistakable roar of taehyung's motorcycle pierced through the crowd's chatter causing everyone, including namjoon and jimin, to turn their heads in the direction of the sound. jungkook, however, remained nonchalant, leaning against the wall and casually finishing his beer, as if he hadn't been anticipating that familiar motorcycle sound all along.
"isn't that..." namjoon murmured, his eyes fixed on the maroon-red bike approaching, its rider adorned in a matching maroon-red outfit and a helmet of the same color that was all too familiar.
"what the heck is he doing here?!" jimin snarled, abruptly standing up and stepping forward.
a hushed silence fell over the crowd as taehyung parked his bike right in front of jungkook, who remained casually leaning against the wall, his gaze firmly fixed on the raven head.
taehyung dismounted from his bike and removed his helmet, causing the audience to gasp audibly. he ran his fingers through his hair, surveying the suddenly attentive crowd. taehyung wasn't sure if he liked all the attention, but it certainly didn't bother him.
"taehyung, what brings you here?" namjoon approached taehyung, who briefly glanced at him before returning his gaze to jungkook, whose intense stare felt like it was devouring him.
taehyung couldn't quite decipher whether jungkook's expression was one of anger or indifference, but the sharp intensity of his gaze sent shivers down taehyung's spine. Strangely, he found himself both thrilled and flustered.
without sparing a glance back at the purple-haired man, taehyung replied, "i'm joining deville."
"what?" namjoon and jimin both exclaimed in astonishment.
"what the heck are you scheming this time, vante?" jimin stepped forward, his glare fixed firmly on taehyung.
taehyung shifted his focus to jimin, and after a few seconds of silence, he cracked a small chuckle.
"what's so funny?" jimin's anger made his face flush.
"oh, i'm sorry. it's just that you're pretty short, so when you curse like that, it looks kinda cute," taehyung chuckled.
"short?! dude, we're literally eye to eye right now!" jimin fumed, on the verge of throwing punches now that his nerves were touched.
"uh-huh, aren't you on your toes right now?" taehyung glanced down, pointing out how jimin was almost on his tiptoes.
jimin blushed even deeper, stood up straighter, and found himself a bit shorter than the raven head, causing taehyung to crack up, covering his mouth with the back of his hand to stifle his laughter.
growing angrier, jimin pushed a finger against taehyung's chest, making him meet his gaze. "this isn't your playground, you tall jerk. get out of here before i make you," he hissed through clenched teeth, his anger escalating.
just as taehyung was about to retort, jungkook stood behind jimin, placing a hand on the blond's shoulder while maintaining eye contact with taehyung. "he's allowed, jimin."
jimin turned to jungkook, shocked. "what the hell are you saying? this guy? allowed?"
"yeah, stuff happened, and now he's part of deville," jungkook replied calmly.
"are you fucking serious?!" jimin glared at the raven head. "have you forgotten what he has done to you?"
"i haven't forgotten a thing," Jungkook emphasized, his jaw clenched, which earned a smirk from taehyung.
"it's just that i don't care enough to stop him from coming here. let him do whatever he wants. he's not a threat; he's nothing," jungkook stated with a blank expression.
"yeah, if you're not scared, it shouldn't be a problem that i'm here, right, shortie?" taehyung grinned at jimin, who glared even harder.
"don't call me that!"
"why not? it suits you. Should i add 'cute' to it? cute shortie?" taehyung teased further. before jimin could snap, namjoon stepped in between them.
"we'll need to have a talk later, taehyung," namjoon stated firmly, directing a stern look at the raven head, who simply shrugged.
following that intense exchange, taehyung and jungkook locked eyes heatedly for a few moments before jungkook finally averted his gaze and headed toward the starting line. the first group had finished their races, and this time, jungkook had decided to join the next race.
he didn't need to call out to taehyung for a challenge; he knew taehyung would show up on his own.
when it came to racing, words were unnecessary between them.
jungkook began to put on his helmet, and taehyung took his place beside him. a few other racers also positioned themselves on the starting line, though they were well aware that beating the king of deville or the newcomer, taehyung, with his notorious stunts, was nearly impossible.
the crowd was buzzing with excitement, louder than ever. jimin seized the opportunity, grabbing the microphone and shouting, fueled by both enthusiasm and lingering anger towards the raven head,
"are you all ready to bet your money? this is going to be the show of the night! are you ready?!"
"YEAAAAAHHHH!" the crowd roared back in response.
"alright! on your marks, get set, GO!" Jimin's starting pistol echoed through the area.
jungkook and taehyung exchanged a quick, knowing glance, hidden behind their helmets, each sporting a concealed smirk as they revved their engines, hurtling forward.
as expected, the other racers swiftly fell behind the thundering bikes of these two rivals, who were tearing down the track at breakneck speed.
today, jungkook refrained from taunting taehyung or boasting about his skills as he usually did. his mind was consumed by a single goal: victory. there was no room for playfulness in this fierce competition. his gaze remained laser-focused on the uneven road ahead.
taking advantage of taehyung's slower start, jungkook surged ahead at maximum speed. taehyung, though quick to recover, found himself trailing behind.
however, jungkook no longer felt bothered by taehyung's presence. while taehyung excelled at acceleration and drifting, he lacked the strategic insight that jungkook had acquired through experience.
the faded green haired lad possessed both talent and a deep understanding of the racecourse, making it clear who held the advantage.
with deft maneuvers, they expertly drifted from left to right, covering more than half of the track in record time. the crowd was in a frenzy, their bets riding high on these two riders. it was a rare sight in deville; someone was finally garnering nearly as much money in bets as jungkook.
jimin couldn't help but feel uneasy about the situation, but he held onto the hope that jungkook would beat taehyung tonight. even namjoon, despite being taehyung's friend, secretly rooted for jungkook, fully aware of the potential consequences if the outcome went the other way.
"whoa, what's gotten into him today?" taehyung muttered to himself as he observed jungkook executing daring turns at every available opportunity.
little did taehyung know that jungkook had lost himself to the desire for victory, his entire focus locked onto one goal.
gripping the handlebars tightly, jungkook roared ahead, leaving taehyung in his dust.
they were approaching the finish line, jungkook still in a racing trance, fixated solely on reaching the end. however, his unwavering concentration came at a cost - he failed to notice the considerable gap he had inadvertently left for taehyung to exploit.
given taehyung's knack for acceleration, this opening was all he needed to surge past jungkook.
taehyung recognized the opportunity and a smirk curled upon his heart-shaped lips. "always so careless, jeon," he chuckled, tightening his grip on the handlebars, ready to unleash his speed and overtake jungkook.
but then, taehyung hesitated.
memories flooded back - the night jungkook had panicked after the stunt taehyung had pulled. he recalled jungkook on the ground, gasping and crying, unaware of the torment he had unleashed by winning that night, which he got to know through namjoon.
taehyung couldn't do it.
he didn't want to do it.
as they neared the finish line, jungkook blinked and glanced behind, realizing that taehyung was intentionally falling behind. furrowing his brow, jungkook refocused on the road, an uneasy feeling settling in his heart as he crossed the finish line, with taehyung following second.
the crowd screamed in joy watching jungkook win. a lot of people had bet on taehyung who were let down, disappointed and frowning.
"maybe that night that guy won by pure luck" someone said from the audience.
"you're right. of course, no one can beat our king jeon jungkook!"
"yes, jungkook is the best!"
"jungkook!"
"jungkook!"
"jungkook!"
the crowd cheered for jungkook. namjoon and jimin smiled upon hearing the screams but the faded green-haired lad couldn't enjoy the air of freedom or the victory it brought him.
after all, the victory wasn't his but given to him.
jungkook's gaze remained locked onto taehyung, who had just parked his bike and removed his helmet. with a clenched jaw and an air of determination, jungkook began to stride toward taehyung.
taehyung, perceptive as ever, met jungkook's gaze as he approached, an inkling of anticipation in his eyes. he couldn't help but notice the scowl etched onto jungkook's face.
"you still not satisfied after winning?" taehyung inquired casually, almost mocking jungkook's displeasure.
jungkook's patience wore thin, and he bit out his words through gritted teeth. "we need to talk."
"go ahead."
determined to have this conversation in private, jungkook seized taehyung's hand without a second thought, paying no heed to their surroundings.
ignoring the curious glances from onlookers, he swiftly led taehyung through a discreet backdoor.
jimin, who had noticed the two men leaving, contemplated following them but was preoccupied with the task of collecting bets and handling the energetic crowd.
"where are they going?"
"let them be. they're closer than you might think." namjoon said with a playful grin.

"damn, let go of my hand!" taehyung protested, struggling to keep pace with jungkook's rapid strides through the bushes.
"Not yet," jungkook replied tersely.
after a bit more walking, jungkook finally came to a stop, allowing taehyung the opportunity to free his hand from his firm grip.
looking around, taehyung realized they were standing in a small, seemingly abandoned garden. a pond glistened not too far away, illuminated by the moonlight, casting their faces into view.
"what a romantic spot. what, want a celebration fuck?" taehyung joked. jungkook didn't entirely object to the idea, but his anger still simmered too intensely for him to banter in return.
"why did you do that?" jungkook demanded, his tone heavy with accusation.
"did what?" taehyung feigned innocence, although he knew exactly what jungkook was referring to.
he questioned his own motives - he could have won, he could have relished that familiar look of defeat on jungkook's face, the one he secretly enjoyed so much. but, for some reason, he had chosen to let the opportunity slip through his fingers.
"you know damn well what i'm talking about," jungkook growled, closing the distance between them.
in the moonlight, jungkook's shadow made taehyung appear innocent and vulnerable, a stark contrast to his true nature.
taehyung was just so good at pretending.
"i don't," he maintained his facade, despite the growing tension in the air.
"don't act like you know nothing," jungkook snapped, edging even closer to taehyung.
taehyung released a sigh, taking a step back to create some space. there was something about the faded green haired make getting so close that stirred emotions in taehyung, emotions he hadn't quite deciphered yet. he preferred to maintain distance from anything that left him feeling uncertain.
at times, jungkook scares him.
he couldn't pinpoint how he truly viewed the man, whether he genuinely despised him or saw something else. if he truly hated jungkook, he wouldn't have allowed that opportunity to slip through his fingers.
"you're irritating me. if you have nothing else to say, i'll be leaving," taehyung declared, turning to depart.
however, before he could take a step, a hand grabbed his wrist and gently pulled him back, forcing him to face jungkook once more.
their faces were now so close that their noses nearly touched, their lips mere inches apart. taehyung wanted to retreat, but his body seemed frozen in place.
once again, that strange sensation churned in his chest.
jungkook's gaze wandered from taehyung's lips to his widened eyes. "you confuse me. you confuse me so damn much," he confessed in a hushed tone, his frustration and curiosity evident in his expression.
taehyung couldn't help but smirk, reveling in the tension building between them that was clearly reflected on the male's face.
"yeah? how?" he teased.
"when you claim not to care about my trauma but then go out of your way to help me as an apology," he began, and taehyung found himself immobilized by the softened tone jungkook used and the helpless look on his face.
"when you don't even want to share the same space as me but let me fuck you just because i seduced you," his eyes glimmered in the moonlight like a predator, and taehyung was taken aback. he moistened his lips, feeling his heart race.
"when you kiss me without my consent and then discard me the very next second," taehyung swallowed hard as jungkook gazed down at his lips, breathing heavily.
"when you say you'll put me in my place but then let me win, i just don't understand, kim. what do you want from me?"
really, what does he want from jungkook? taehyung had no answer. he didn't want to do anything with the younger in the first place so why is he always coming back for him?
he looked away when strange answers to the questions started to appear in his head. just the idea of those answers made taehyung scared. no, he could never have such feelings.
"you're too close, jeon" taehyung looked away and gulped thickly.
jungkook roamed his intense gaze all over taehyung's face and exposed neck before he leaned down, connecting his lips with the delicate skin on taehyung's neck. the raven head let out a gasp as he gripped jungkook's arm.
"w-what are you doing?!"
jungkook paying no attention, with all the frustration inside him sucked and licked on a spot before biting down hard, almost drawing blood out. taehyung realized it was a hickey, of anger and frustration.
after creating the pink purplish hickey, jungkook stood upright again, looking straight into taehyung's eyes.
"there was space for you to take over and perhaps win. but you didn't, why?" taehyung was busted but he still tried to play it cool.
he couldn't show his vulnerability for the faded green haired lad which he also realized he had because of tonight's encounter.
"still no idea"
jungkook chuckled, leaning closer.
"i think we both know why you didn't take that chance," jungkook whispered, his voice softer now.
"because you wanted me to win."
hearing it loud from jungkook, taehyung realized just why he hadn't taken that chance. slightly enlarging his eyes from the realization he looked at jungkook who looked at him with uncertainty.
as if he didn't want to take another step forward.
jungkook was scared.
scared to get hurt.
"And what if i did?" taehyung was perplexed by his own conflicting feelings. why did he want jungkook to win? wouldn't it be better if he lost? after all, jungkook meant nothing to him, so why did he hesitate and step back? he could have been one step closer to becoming the new king of deville, something he didn't desire. nevertheless, wouldn't it be satisfying to diminish jungkook's pride? He hated Jungkook, so why did he feel this way?
"You make me so angry," Jungkook admitted, his fist raised for a moment before letting it fall by his side.
"But you make me feel strange too."
"Strange?" Taehyung questioned, his curiosity piqued. He was familiar with this feeling, and the revelation that Jungkook felt similarly caught him off guard.
"I don't know what this feeling is, but. . ." Jungkook's gaze flickered over Taehyung's face, which seemed even more captivating in the soft moonlight, accentuating his moles, long eyelashes, pink heart-shaped lips, and brown doe eyes.
Had Taehyung always looked this beautiful? Jungkook's heart raced in his chest. He had been close to Taehyung countless times, even in the closest way possible but he had never experienced such emotions before.
He felt an overwhelming desire to kiss every inch of Taehyung's face, to worship its beauty.
That's how breathtaking Taehyung appeared to him right now.
"jeon? jeon?" taehyung waved his hand in front of jungkook's face making him snap out of his trance.
scratching his nape, jungkook turned around and stepped away from taehyung.
taehyung noticed jungkook's ears turning red which dumbfounded him further.
"what's up with you seriously" taehyung sighed.
"what's up with you! why do you look. . . why do you. . ." he couldn't finish his sentence as he gazed at the older's face.
taehyung was handsome and he admits it too. but now, he seemed to see him in a completely different light and it confused him so much.
he hates the raven head so why would he feel that way?
"i look what?"
"leave it, you can go"
"can go? excuse me, I'm not leaving until you answer me"
"answer what?"
"you feel strange. what kind of strange?"
"seriously you. . ." jungkook turned redder. "do you even feel any human emotions?"
"if i didn't then we wouldn't be here"
"huh?"
"i seemed to care for you... maybe"
jungkook's eyes widened from the raven head's sudden confession.
smiling playfully, jungkook tilted his head, "you hear yourself, kim?"
taehyung didn't know it sounded weird considering the type of relation he has with jungkook. so realizing what he had said, he shook his head aggressively and blushed hard.
"n-no, i. . . i mean i didn't mean that-"
not letting taehyung finish, jungkook came closer and before taehyung could process,
he smashed their lips together.
