"fuck my life"

was something jungkook voiced very often since that night. that night that turned his life upside down.

no, it wasn't because losing one single race made him get into the official loser list or did he lose his dignity, however it did affect his image far more than he ever imagined.

people that bet on him that he'll be the winner of every race eventually started to doubt if betting money on jeon jungkook would be a good choice or not.

jungkook was out of his mind from last week, he couldn't bring himself to ride his bike called bull and show everyone who was the real deal in deville. he barely showed himself up and whenever he did, he couldn't concentrate on the track resulting him to get into accidents or abruptly stop in the middle of a race.

jungkook never finished a race after that night.

as much of a lie it sounds like, it certainly was the reality that he had kinda lost the enthusiasm to race again.

but he couldn't just give up. running deville and racing was a source of income to him for crying out loud!

it wasn't like he wasn't getting money out of the place that's for bike racers by running the area and allowing other racers to enjoy themselves. yet, a huge part of his income was coming from him racing and winning. people bet their money on him, that too a huge amount.

how could he become so careless?

and now when the boy sat in front of his mother's hospital bed, watching her breath through the oxygen mask, he felt numb.

his stoic lifeless eyes stared at her face, lips parted showing his bunny teeth. "i need to pay the hospital bills for this month..." he paused and sighed in his hands, covering his face with them. "mom tell me... what should i do?"

"why can't i bring myself to race again... why did that bastard's words hurt me this much?" he let out, his voice shaky.

"i love racing but... i can't go on like this forever... i need to earn more money... "

jungkook didn't want to admit but he knew, if he went on like this he'll lose the label king, he'll lose his people and only source of income.

this can't go on forever.

but no matter how hard he tried, whenever he got on his bull and started the engine, blazing forward... he would see the anonymous man with his red bike far ahead of him.

and he would see himself far behind that man, even if he was riding his bike all alone.

from a third person point of view, anyone would say that it was being a bit too much, jungkook was being too much. it was just a little race, not even something big but this was jeon jungkook, the best racer of deville and suddenly a nobody came out of nowhere and defeated him, that too by a much bigger distance gap.

and top of them all, that night unlocked memories of the past. memories the lad rather prefer to be not reminded of.

you're a loser jeon. the words often rings inside his head, even now when he's sitting before his dear mother's bed.

"i should get a job... i'm free in the daytime. i should put this time of the day on work... right mom?" there was no answer but seeing her lying just there, not even looking at him made this sure,

jungkook needed to do anything, anything to save his mother.

he had no one else than her after all.

"i'll come back later. take care" no reply but the son still smiled at his mother before walking out.

as soon he walked out of the room, his phone buzzed inside his pants pocket. he fished out the phone and saw jimin calling him.

"hey chim"

"yaah, why aren't you picking up your phone? i called so many times last night!"

"sorry, was outta buttery or something" he shortly replied, strolling out of the hospital building. the sudden hot air outside hit his air conditioned body.

"stop lying you depressed soul. come on it's been weeks. when are you racing again?"

"i don't know man. i can't really focus... it... it reminds me of that-"

"hey, calm down. don't sweat it yeah? you can take your time kook. i and joon will take care for the time being"

"if i could have just another race with that arrogant piece of fuck... i might have gotten a lot better by now..."

"i know... i should talk with namjoon and tell him to look for that fucker. i tried enough from my side ya know"

"i know chim. thanks"

"eww shut up, disgusting" jimin cringed from the other side of the call that made jungkook chuckle.

"oh by the way... erm can ya do me another favor?"

"favor? hell nah. work? hell yes"

"oh for fucks sake, let me be a little good boy" jungkook snickered.

"go ahead stupid"

"can you recommend me some jobs? at daytime. you know my situation... i was thinking to work in my free time"

"hmm, i don't know much bout these stuffs. lemme talk with joon, i'll let ya know later on"

"thanks chim-"

"at the usual bar fucker, you'll pay tonight"

"later then" with that he cut the call, feeling a bit better after talking to his best friend.

"TAEHYUNG! YOU BETTER GET BACK HERE!" the middle aged man yelled at his son who turned his back to him.

"what else you want to talk about, father?" he taunted the last word making the middle aged man grit his teeth together.

"if i see you with that little stupid bike again. i'll burn it to ashes, remember that"

"got it"

"you don't get it, you're gonna run down the streets like a mad dog again, won't you?"

"that's none of your business"

"how dare you talk like that! i'm your father kim taehyung!"

"so? what do you want me to do? is ruining my life not enough for you?"

"YOU USELESS TRASH!" the middle aged man slapped the standing male hard across his face, making him face the other side before he turned his face to him again, eyes so dead.

"is that all, father?"

"YOU BETTER BE AT OFFICE TOMORROW MORNING OR YOU'LL SEE THE CONSEQUENCES. NOW GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!"

taehyung didn't waste a second and walked out of the room.

fuck why did i ever bring out my bike... again?

"yo" jungkook sat on the stool beside the blonde who already had a drink twirling between his fingers.

"you're late by three minutes"

"am i? meh" jimin smacked the younger's head at the remark before they both let out a laugh.

"oh by the way joon will be here soon, he said he has a job for you"

"our sugar hyung proved himself again eh?" the male joked, his way of showing gratitude.

"talking about me?" both fellows snapped their head at the voice that boomed behind them, seeing namjoon who took a seat beside jungkook afterwards.

"usual ones kev" jungkook told the bartender before he focused on namjoon again.

"so how are you and chim handling the place so far?"

"good but your fans misses you jungkook" the purple haired male let out, his sharp eyes on the younger.

"a lot at that. you need to be back soon" the blonde added, patting the faded green haired male's back.

"i know... sorry for putting so much work on you two. i'll be back soon... it's just... i need time" there was no doubt that the two males understood what jungkook meant.

after all they knew what jungkook has been through before and how this situation was so similar to his past. they would rather not mention it though.

"oh by the way. you wanted a job?" the purple haired man asked, eyes on the drink that the bartender served.

"uh yeah. need some extra cash"

"i have one. it's a bit tacky to get in, but my dad is a good friend of the ceo of the company. so it'll be easy for you to get in"

"oh god, is it those flashy huge companies? i'm not suited you know hyung-"

"you'll be okay. the work isn't much"

"what do i have to do?"

"erm i don't know if you'll agree to it... but the job is to be the driver of the ceo's son-"

"what the fuck hyung. that's embarrassing!" jungkook almost stood up, he might be poor but there was no way he'll be someone's driver, he was jeon jungkook for heaven's sake!

plus he won't be so short on money once his mother recovers, most of his money earned from deville goes in the hospital bills, the male doesn't regret spending so much on his mid aged mother, what he regrets is not getting her out of there even now, after one freaking year.

so he had to earn more money. he needed to get over his trauma of the past and bitterness of the recent night.

but still, a driver? that's too much-

"you'll be paid five thousand dollars a month"

"you son of a bitch, i'm in"

"oh, thought your pride was hurt to be a driver?" jimin teased the male, sipping his drink.

"shut up, it's not that bad. i mean how bad can it be? plus i'll be just working until i can get mom out of there..." he smiled at the mention of his mother. "i might be the king of deville but my mom is the queen of my heart, for her i'll do anything"

"no wonder our moms like you more than us, stop being so sweet will ya?" jimin poked the faded green haired male's side of head, namjoon agreeing with his dimples showing from the smile taking over his lips.

"can't help, i'm the best" he stuck out his tongue, annoying the blonde.

"you-" jimin pinched jungkook's cheeks while namjoon just watched and laughed at his two silly friends who were fighting like kids now.

"so, when's my interview?" jungkook asked after he was done with fighting, still head locking jimin as both male's stared at the purple haired male.

"tomorrow morning"
