Through Pages - Long Feedback

Intro:

Through Pages was written by Yootifully, an extremely talented writer who deserves a lot more attention. Through Pages earned second place in the "Best Potential" category for my Padauk Mini Awards, arguably the hardest category in the entire awards due to the high demand and strict judging.

Yootifully, or Kyra, is one of my close friends with a lot of talent. She holds a special place in my heart and is truly someone I think everyone should support and get to know. She's extremely funny, supportive, and passionate, and I hope you guys support her.

With that being said, let's get into the long review of her award-winning book, Through Pages!

Long Feedback

When I saw that the prologue was actually a prologue, I knew I was in for a treat as I don't see many actual prologues on this site anymore. Most are just first chapters with "prologue" as the title instead of what it should be: chapter one. It may seem like a small thing to get excited about, but dang it, I wanna be excited about it. THE PROLOGUE IS A PROLOGUE WOOO. And it's a good prologue, too. The ideas present there set the backdrop for the rest of the story, planting a mystery that had me hooked right from the get go. Great job with that!

But moving away from the prologue, the concept is very interesting, even though we've only seen snippets of it. Moving back to the prologue (that lasted long), the concept is introduced there, and then it's weaved throughout the chapters currently available. The pacing of how the plot and ideas are unveiled is very good and doesn't feel rushed or too slow. Everything feels like it happens for a reason.

Okay, I think I've gone long enough with talking about my man. Park Jimin. What a man. As I said in my initial review, bias aside, I really like Jimin in this and how gentle and caring he is. Considering the story is surely going to have a lot of chaos in it (and it already has; I mean, it literally starts with the main character getting fired), having Jimin as a sort of safe place for us was a great idea, and I just overall love his personality and what you decided to do with him. The same applies to the character dynamics. All the character dynamics thus far have been engaging, and like I mentioned in one of my comments, I liked how you gave us time to see Jimin and Y/n bonding while still moving the plot forward. That's another example of good pacing, where you waste no time and combine different story elements to keep everything moving while also fleshing out what you need to flesh out. I'm already pretty attached to this cast of characters, and that's not a statement I make lightly.

I only had very minor critiques for the book that I won't bring up here since they're very, very small and not a big deal by any means. The overall book was a crap ton of fun, and I'm excited to see what comes next!

Overall:

Through Pages presents an interesting concept surrounded by cool characters with equally cool character dynamics. It'll suck you in right away from its gripping prologue (THAT'S ACTUALLY A PROLOGUE RAAAAH), and it'll keep you hooked throughout the rest of the story published so far. It's early in development, but I believe it will blossom into an even more awesome story. If you like intriguing concepts driven by characters, then this is the perfect book for you!
