Bulletproof Season 1 - Detailed Feedback

Intro:

Bulletproof Season 1 was written by Pll017. It won first place in the Fairy Night Awards, best concept category, and it won it thanks to its awesome concept blending the world of the fantastical with the realistic. Characters like Peter Pan and Maleficent come to life in an intriguing way that makes you question what is and isn't a fairy tale.

Note that this won't be formatted like other detailed feedbacks because it is reviewing the concept in particular.

Detailed Feedback:

Easily the best part of this novel is the world and how much thought, love, and passion went into it. You can feel the dedication from the very first paragraph of the story, where the author sets us in the scene with a vibrant description that doesn't go over-the-top, but it also has enough complexity to give you that feel that this is truly a fantasy.

At the same time, there are many lines and descriptions throughout that feel down-to-earth, making you question what is a fairy tale and what isn't. One minute you could see the characters hunting down another person, then the next, they're worrying about curling their hair, but the story executes it in a way that feels natural and keeps the tone consistent throughout.

It has all the charm and enjoyment you'd find from a fairy tale, but the dark twists and turns make for a whacky ride that will keep you immersed the entire way through. Along with that, I personally found it interesting how these high fantasy-like tales connected with the modern, present day world to the point where these fairy tale characters are referencing historical figures like Amelia Earhart. It gave me more to think about while reading since while watching things like Snow White, you never think of what Snow White would do with the knowledge of the modern landscape.

The only criticisms I had of the story had to do with syntax and making sure the sentences connect, though since it was a mini category about the concept, the syntax errors were hardly a big deal, and none were so severe that I felt I couldn't understand what was going on. So other than that one thing, I thought the concept was executed very well.

In summary, the concept of the story was absolutely awesome and constantly questioned the reader about what they consider a fairy tale and what they consider a nightmare. It's a very fun read with interesting/engaging worldbuilding.

Overall:

Bulletproof Season 1 surprised me with how rich its world and ideas were. It follows several characters from various fairy tales you grew up with, only the plot is twisted and there are countless turns that will keep you on your toes throughout the entire story. If you're someone who enjoys dark fairy tales, then this is the perfect story for you.
