Kai lands his bike off the hill. "Move! Move! Move! We're running out of time! Pick up the pace!"

"Yes, Ninja! It's up to us to save the day!" Cole lands his roadster off the hill. "Again."

"Roger that, Kai. Zane! Do you have a read?!" Nya asks.

"ETA too late. Unless we break all speed limits. Increase velocity!"  Zane says.

"I thought you were the law-abiding one Zane." Kaylee laughs, soaring through the air. "How's the new rides?"

"Great!" Cole says.

Wu comes on Lloyd's screen intercom. "Ninja! I have reached the rendezvous point. Where are you?"

"The museum is still five clicks away! We're on our way!" Lloyd answers.

Jay flies by in his Jet. "Look up kids! Jay to save the day! Race you there, Lloyd!"

"I still don't understand how you got the Supersonic Raider Jet." Lloyd sighs.

"Uh, 'cause I called dibs. Guy who calls dibs first gets it. Right, Cole?" Jay asks as Cole drifts off in his vehicle. "Right, Cole? Cole? Let me go get him! He's drifting off again!" Jay turns around his jet.

Cole fidgets with his controls, terrified, his hands ghosting through them. "No. No! Come back...come... no!!!" The vehicle drifts up a mountain and nearly hits Jay and Kaylee.

"Cole! Look out!" Jay yells.

"Are you serious?" Kaylee shrieks, holding out two hands, as she and Jay safely put Cole back on the ground.

"Oh. Uh. Oh. S-sorry Jay and Kaylee." Cole says.

"Phew. I know you're a ghost, but we're still in the living world, and I'd kinda like to keep it that way." Jay says.

"And me," Kaylee adds. 

"Ninja! Time is of the essence!" Wu orders.

"He's right. Engage!" Cole says.

"I'll head off to the library now, maybe I can find something there," Kaylee replies.

"Alright then, stay safe," Lloyd replies as Kaylee flies off to the Library of Domu.

The team combines their vehicles except for Cole and Zane's.

Kai attaches his bike to the left side of Lloyd's. "Locked!"

Nya attaches her bike to the right side of Lloyd's. "Loaded!"

Jay attaches his jet to the top. "And jet speed, reporting for duty sir."

The different Ninja vehicles all transform into Ultra Stealth Raider.

"Fire all engines!" Lloyd orders. The Ninja race off in their vehicles towards Ninjago City, arriving at the museum.

"Master Wu, are we too late?" Jay pants.

"There may yet be time" Wu points towards the eclipse.

"Ninja-go!" The Ninja all Spinjitzu into the museum, and head out of the gift shop.

Jay laughs. "Mission accomplished."

"Yeah, good thing we got to the gift shop before it closed," Lloyd replies.

"Yes, a Day of the Departed celebration is incomplete without a Day of the Departed lantern," Zane replies.

"Too bad Kaylee's missing it," Cole says.

"Oh, this is my favorite holiday. I love all the lights." Nya smiles as if she hadn't heard Cole. 

"And the costumes." Kai gestures toward kids who just finished trick-or-treating.

"And the candy. Hit me, kid!" One with a pilot costume tosses Jay a piece of white candy into his mouth "Mmm. Best day of the year!"

"Yes, enjoy the fun and festivities. But never lose sight of the true meaning of the Day of the Departed. Today is about remembrance. We light lanterns to remember our ancestors, and to settle our debts." Wu says, staring off. "Where is Kaylee? I must settle a debt with her." 

"Library of Domu." Cole answers but is ignored yet again.

"Yeah, got it, got it. Lanterns, ancestors, debts. But candy too, right?" Jay says. A man in a red suit with a rather long mustache comes to greet the ninja.

"The Ninja. Master Wu." Dr. Saunders greets. 

"Dr. Saunders." Wu answers.

"Oh, please we are all friends. You must call me by my first name, yes? Uh, Sander, yes?" Saunders replies.

Kai whispers to Nya. "Dr. Sander Saunders?"

"At your service!" Dr. Saunders chuckles. "I am so pleased to be seeing you at this now. We are opening our new exhibit. Come, you'll see. Come." He walks to the entrance to the hall. "Might I be presenting the Hall of Villainy!"

"Wow." All gasp.

"Cryptor!"

"A plastic mannequin," Zane notes.

"Kozu!"

"Uncanny," Lloyd says, wishing he had Kaylee here.

"Chen!" 

"Memories." Nya shudders.

"Samukai!" 

"Is he looking at me?" Jay asks.

"Maybe from the past." Wu answers.

"And Morro!" 

"And, uh, who's this?" Kai questions, pointing at two statues, of a woman and a man, looking exactly like each other.

"Ah yes, these are the Children of The Overlord. Very famous villains, known for their lust to conquer the land of Crystals and Ninjago." Dr. Saunders replies.

"And they did. Soon after they went into hiding, but then, I defeated them." Wu replies.

"Crystal-benders. But this Crystal land isn't on any map." Zane replies.

"That's because all inhabitants, except the lost Princess, had been petrified!" Dr. Saunders replies. 

"The Land of Crystals was a powerful land and protecting Ninjago. It was one of the 8 kingdoms that circled Ninjago, and certainly the most powerful." Wu informs.

"Even more powerful than Lloyd?" Nya asks.

"Yes. Each inhabitant had crystal blue eyes, and brown hair and each could crystal-bend, and the royalty had special powers." Dr. Saunders continues.

"Just like Kaylee," Lloyd says.

"Yes, and that is my debt to her. You see, Kaylee is the last inhabitant and the Princess, and she will be a key role in restoring the Crystal lands." Wu says.

"But that is a story for later on! Checking this out! We don't just open on Day of Departed. It's the Day of the Departed lunar eclipse. A special eclipse." Dr.Saunders pulls their attention away.

"The rarest Yin-Yang eclipse." Wu answers.

"The Crystal lands," Kaylee whispers as she held her head in pain suddenly and finally saw through her memories. "I'm the lost princess." 

Kaylee turns to the Day of the Departed book, giddy, and high on happiness.

"We honor our ancestors because if we never look to the past, we cannot envision the future. On the Day of the Departed, we pause to remember those we've lost. And enjoy our time with those we are still fortunate to have." 

The villains take control of the mannequins.

"Huh?" Morro gasps.

"What's going on?" Alaric the male twin of the Children of the Overlord asks. 

"Who-Who are you?" Samukai asks.

"I should ask you the same thing," Morro replies. 

"I am Samukai, Skulkin general, fearsome master of the ax." Samukai yells. 

"Ha! Fearsome? You call that fearsome?" Kozu slices a pillar with an Elemental Blade. "This is fearsome! I am Kozu, destroyer of all foolish enough to challenge me."

"Yeah, so how did you do against a guy who destroyed you?" Cryptor mocks.

"Huh, these pathetic excuses for villains are arguing." Pandora snorts. 

"Not pathetic! But what has brought us back? Oh, buttons, buttons, buttons!" Chen presses one, causing his chair to inflate. He then pressed another one, bringing it down. He then pressed another one, sending fortune cookies flying out of it. He then pressed another one, causing two mechanical legs to come out from underneath his chair. "Oh. Brake? No. Brake? No!" He crashes. "I'm all right." He crashes again. "Still all right."

"What is going on here?" Samukai questions.

"Well, the skinny man in the silky girl robes can't control his chair. And-" Cryptor says.

"No! I mean with us!" Alaric replies.

Morro points to Yang's portrait. "Perhaps he can explain."

"Still all right." Chen answers.

Yang takes control of his portrait. "My magic has brought you back from the Departed Realm to Ninjago, but you can only remain for the duration of the eclipse. Unless..."

"Unless?" Pandora asks.

"Unless you destroy the Ninja who destroyed you. Use your Departed Blades, and you will take their place among the living." Yang answers.

"No ninja has destroyed us, only Wu," Alaric replies.

"Just kill the silver one." Samukai answers.

"No, we'll take Ninjago," Pandora smirks, holding up a ball of dark matter.

"It's you!" Kozu gasps.

"Of course, dear Kozu," Alaric replies.

Pythor comes in reading a map. "Hall of Villainy? More like, Hall of Empty-ny." He sees his mannequin. "Oh. Nice." He takes his Anacondrai Staff.

"The Ninja are dispersed around Ninjago, and you will have revenge," Yang says, and the villains cheer.

"Did someone say revenge? I want in. Ah, Cryptor, my loyal friend. Chen." Pythor chuckles.

"Pythor." Chen answers.

"Oh, frosty," Kozu says.

"You must each choose a Ninja and-" Yang answers.

"I call Zane." Samukai says.

"No! He's my clone." Cryptor snarls.

"Technically, you're his clone." Pandora says, filing her nails.

"The blacksmiths' brats are mine." Chen snaps. 

"How come you get two?" Pythor asks. 

Everyone starts to argue.

"Silence! Time is wasting, and I've got my own thing going on, so work it out!" Yang leaves.

"I have a score to settle with Nya, so she's mine. Her brother too." Chen says.

"Lloyd, I destroyed the father. Well, more or less. It's finally time to destroy the son." Pythor grins. 

"I'll take Zane." Cryptor answers.

"Master Wu. We left things...unfinished. I will settle our debt, once and for all." Morro says, staring at his sword. 

Samukai groans and turns to Kozu. "That only leaves Jay. One Ninja, but two of us. Okay, rock, paper, scissors. One, two, three. One, two, three." Kozu walks away. "It doesn't seem to work."

Kozu sees Dareth. "I want him."

"Yes." Samukai grins.

"We want Kaylee, and Ninjago," Alaric replies.

"Good luck." Chen snorts.

"Then it's settled. Although, the Ninja won't go easily. Perhaps we could use some help?" Pythor hold up his map

Cryptor reads the map. "The Hall of Sidekicks."

Pythor laughs. "Convenient, is it not?" 

Kaylee walks out of the Library, noticing two figures turning everything into stone.

"That must be them." Kaylee sighs. "Time to go." 

She flies off toward the Palace of Secrets, where the 2 people start attacking the guards.

"Hey! You can stop taking over Ninjago, and- oh my FSM." Kaylee gasps.

"Ah, Kaylee," Alaric smirks.

"In truth, we don't need you anymore, we want Ninjago." Pandora smiles. 

"But no distractions, so." Alaric turns the guards into stone. 

"Well, time to protect the Emperor, Empress, and the Princess," Kaylee mutters, flying in the Palace.

"Halt! Who goes!" A Guard stops her.

"There's people trying to break in, warn the Emperor and his family." Kaylee answers.

"Right away." The Guard goes away, noticing the twins come up.

"Honey, why don't you, join your real parents," Alaric smirks, raising a crystal and throwing it at her. Kaylee catches it. 

"Really silly to attack a Crystal-Bender with Crystals," Kaylee smirks and starts attacking them, before skewering them in the heart, and then destroying them. Their ghosts fly back to the Departed Realm.

"Thank you." The Emperor says.

The Guards and the petrified part of Ninjago turn back to normal. 

"It's no problem." Kaylee answers.

"You are part of the Crystal people, and you have protected us, yet again." The Empress answers.

"It's no biggie." Kaylee smiles.

"But it's an honor to meet the famed Silver Ninja. I am Princess Harumi, but you may call me Rumi." Harumi bows.

"Thank you." Kaylee also bows. "But I must get to the Ninja."

"Of course." Harumi nods, her eye glittering with something that Kaylee knew wasn't respect. 

Kaylee and Jay make it to the museum, where the other Ninja are waiting for them.

"Guys, I have the ghost story to end all ghost stories. You will never guess what just happened." Jay says.

"You battled the possessed mannequin of a mortal enemy?" Kai asks.  

"Him and his goons tried to send you to the Departed Realm with magic blades?" Nya adds.

"But you defeated them first." Zane continues.

"And saw their ghosts disappear into the night." Lloyd finishes.

"Oh, okay, fine. You guessed. Well, since you know so much, why were all those ghosts out here?" Jay questions.

"No idea." Kaylee answers and all the ninja turn to her. "Where's Co-"

"Hey, Little Miss Princess." Kai teases.

"Haha." Kaylee rolls her eyes. "Don't make me shut you up." 

"Why were those ghosts out there though?" Nya asks.

Wu approaches them. "Because distracting you was part of Master Yang's plan."

"And he had help." Morro appears. 

The Ninja arm themselves. "Morro!"

"Any other villains want to show up tonight?" Jay yells. 

"We've stopped five, what's one more?" Kai asks.

"Seven." Kaylee answers.

"No. Put away your weapons. He's here to help. Morro, tell them." Wu orders and the ninja set down their weapons.

"Yang tricked Cole into helping him open a rift to return to Ninjago." Morro answers.

"Cole? How'd he trick you?" Jay asks. 

"Jay, Cole isn't here." Zane answers.

"I was try-" Kaylee starts.

"Are you sure? He's been fading a lot lately. He's kind of easy to miss." Jay looks around.

"We forgot Cole!" All the ninja gasp.

"I was trying to tell you that!" Kaylee huffs.

"To the Bounty. They must be at the Temple of the Airjitzu Master. Thank you, Morro." Wu says.

"Happy Day of the Departed, Master." Morro smiles. He returns to his pedestal and he poses. His spirit leaves the statue and goes back to the Departed Realm.

"Cole!" Nya screams as the Bounty nears the Temple.

"We have to help him," Kai says.

"I can't bring it any closer. The wind's still too strong." Kaylee answers.

"The rift is almost closed." Wu answers.

"What is he doing? Is-is he talking to Yang?" Jay questions.

"The rift cannot be opened again until the next Yin-Yang eclipse," Wu says.

"Which, according to my calculations, won't happen for 3,721 years." Zane answers.

"Cole, the rift! You gotta pass through the rift!" Lloyd yells. 

"Cole! It's now or never!" Jay yells. 

An explosion occurs, and the Bounty swirls around in the wind.

"Brace yourselves! It's going to be a hard landing." Kaylee yells, and the ship crashes. 

"Is everyone all right?" Misako asks.

"Nothing that tightening a few screws can't fix." Zane answers.

"I'm okay, but where's Cole?" Lloyd asks. 

"Oh, no!" Kaylee gasps.

"Did he make it?" Nya asks.

"He was too late. He's gone forever. I'd give anything to have him back." Jay sighs.

"Anything?" Cole asks. 

"Anything," Jay repeats.

Cole jumps from behind a boulder, a human again. "Even the Sonic Raider Jet?"

"Cole!" They embrace him.

"You're back!" Jay cheers.

"You're not a ghost anymore," Lloyd adds.

"You look good as new," Nya says.

"Ah. Pretty much. Thank you, Nya." Cole smiles.

"Speaking of good as new..." Kai points to the temple.

Wu sighs. "The Temple of the Airjitzu Master has been returned to its original condition."

"It's beautiful." Kaylee smiles. 

"You know, that would be a pretty cool place for a Ninja to train." Cole smiles.

The team gathers around a campfire with their friends and families.

"Whoa. And was I right or was I right?" Cole asks. 

Jay sighs. "Yes, you were right. Are you going to retell this story every Day of the Departed from now on?"

"Only until you admit that you didn't want to move in because you were scared it's still haunted," Cole says, and everyone laughs.

"I wasn't scared. I was cautious. Okay fine, I was scared. And wrong. There's no more ghosts here." Jay says.

"Nope. No ghosts." Cole shakes his head and winks at Sensei Yang.

"Now we release our lanterns," Nya says.

"Not quite," Lloyd replies.

"Hey." Kaylee makes one out of crystal. "I'm ready now." 

They release the lanterns.

"Happy Day of the Departed," Wu says.
