Chapter 9
Pacifica
"So, how did the date go?" I asked, as Gideon walked in through the door sadly, shoulders slumped.
"I guess it went okay." He sighed.
"So no more dates?"
"No." Gideon crashed onto the recliner, frowning, and turned on Gravity Falls Public Access TV, where an old black and white horror movie was playing. "She's my girlfriend now, I guess."
"I thought you said you would..."
"Yeah, well, I couldn't. As I was about to say no all these people were crowding around us and I gave in."
"How will you break the news to her?" I asked, as Gideon pounded the button on the remote to flick between channels.
"I'm not sure." He shrugged. I felt sorry for him, but hopefully he would work up the strength to break up with Mabel.
"You'll break up with her tomorrow, right?" I asked.
"Yeah." He nodded. "Tomorrow."
The next night, while I was watching anime in bed, Gideon came in sadly again.
"How did it go, cuz?" I asked.
"Not good." He flopped on his bed and stared at the ceiling. "I couldn't do it!"
"You really need help, don't you?" I ask, pausing my laptop.
"Yeah." He sighed in defeat.
"Do you want me to help you break up with her?" I said.
"How?" Gideon questioned.
"I'll be there with you when you break up with her." I said. "Right there by your side."
"R-really?" He asked.
"Course! That's what I'm here for." I smiled.
"Thanks, Pacifica."
"No problem, cuz."
The next night, we walked together to the fancy restaurant Mabel had asked Gideon out to.
"Are you ready?" I asked. He shook his head, beads of sweat dripping down.
"I feel like I might throw up." Gideon said. "I'm so nervous."
"It'll be okay, Gideon. Just take a deep breath and be confident. Do what you want, not what other people want you to be."
"Okay." He nodded, inhaled deeply, and exhaled. "Okay, let's go in."
We stepped inside of the aquatic themed restaurant, and we saw Mabel sitting in a private booth in the corner.
"You ready?" I asked. Gideon nodded.
We walked over.
"Hello, Gideon. And Pacifica. Why are you here?" Mabel asked.
"Listen, Mabel...I..." Gideon started to speak but his voice turned into a croak. "I can't."
"I'll tell her for you." I turned from Gideon to Mabel. "So, Gideon doesn't really feel very comfortable with this whole dating thing and he just wants to be friends again."
"So he's breaking up with me?" Mabel confirmed.
"Yeah, sorry. I hope that's okay?"
Mabel smiled. "Oh no, it's perfectly fine. I had no idea it was awkward for him."
"Great. Well, goodbye!" Me and Gideon waved, and we walked out of the restaurant.
"She seemed okay with it, right?" Gideon asked.
"Of course, she was really sweet about it. Now, let's go get you some breakup ice cream."
"With sprinkles?"
"With sprinkles."
Mabel
No, no, no.
This can't be real.
Me and my precious Gideon...he broke up with me.
No.
It was Pacifica's fault.
She doesn't know what he wants. She lied, tricked, deceived him into breaking up with me.
I laughed a bit, and picked up a knife.
With one swift flick of the wrist I threw it into the dartboard with the photo of Pacifica.
"You won't take away my darling, Pacifica. He's mine."
Pacifica
"Who is this?" I asked, and bit into my candy apple as I waited for the person on the phone's reply.
"This is Mabel Pines." The person said. "Who is this?"
"Sorry, Gideon isn't home at the moment." I said.
"No, actually I wanted to speak to you, Pacifica."
"Really?" I asked. "Sure. What's up?"
"I was wondering if you would like to 'hang out' this afternoon?" Mabel asked.
"Sure! What would we be doing?"
"I don't know, probably a bit of walking around. Give you a tour of the town, maybe?"
"Okay, that sounds great! Come to the Shack when you're ready!"
"Wonderful. I'll see you at 2."
"Okay, bye!" I hung up.
Later, after lunch, Mabel came to the door.
"Hi, Pacifica!" She grinned. "Are you ready?"
"Yeah!" I said. "So, where will we go first?"
"How about my family's warehouse? It's only a few minutes down the road."
"Warehouse? Sounds spooky!" I said. "Let's go!"
We walked to the warehouse, talking about random topics ranging from school to why rainbows are so colorful.
"Here we are! It has a great view of the town, doesn't it?" Mabel asked, as we stopped at where the warehouse was. "So, tell me, how long have you been in Gravity Falls, dear?"
I looked out over the view. "Wow, this is really nice up here! And a few days, I guess."
"Interesting." Mabel walked inside the entrance to the warehouse, and I ran after.
"Wait up!" I called after her, and went into the warehouse. I couldn't see her anywhere.
"Mabel, where are you?" I asked, and suddenly, I heard a loud clang!. I spun around on instinct, to see the doors had shut. I walked over to try and open them again, but they wouldn't budge.
"A few days, huh?" Mabel's voice echoed across the warehouse. "You must not know a lot about this town."
I frantically searched the area around me. "Mabel, where are you? This isn't funny."
"Here, me and Dipper rule this town. We decide the rules."
"Um, Mabel, can you come out?" I bit my lip.
"In other words," Suddenly I heard her voice from right next to me. "We make sure nobody gets in our way."
I whipped my head around, but she wasn't there. Beads of sweat dripped from my forehead. Suddenly, I wanted to get out. Fear overcame me, and I started pulling the door, trying to get it open, but it stayed locked from the outside.
"Mabel, please stop this!" I called out.
"Oh, really?" My body became encased in a blue aura. "But the fun has just begun."
She stepped out from behind a pile of boxes and folded her hands. "You know, I really liked Gideon, but you were the one who forced him to break up with me."
"N-no!" I protested.
"Lies!" She hissed. "I want Gideon to be mine. In other words, I need to get rid of his main influence: you."
Scissors encompassed in blue glow floated up from out of a box. The gem on her headband became darker and darker, and her blue eyes became paler.
Pairs of scissors surrounded me, and tears sprang from my eyes.
"Please, stop!" I screamed, as they slowly moved towards me.
