Chapter 5

Pacifica

"Ready for the show, cuz? Do I look okay?" I ran down the stairs in a rainbow sweater dress and black leggings. I had let my hair down from a ponytail into a somewhat messy braid filled with hair clips.
"Yeah, and you look great." Gideon said, standing up from the recliner in the living room. "Let's go."
"Bye Grunkle Stan! We'll see you later!" I called, and he came rushing into the living room.
"Right! Here's all of my espionage equipment I found to spy on those weird Pines!" He dumped cameras, microphones, pens, and anything you could use to spy on the dinosaur head table.
"Thanks Grunkle Stan, but we don't need all of this." Gideon scratched the back of his head.
"Oh, okay." He laughed awkwardly.
"Why do you have all this, anyway?" I asked, picking up a metal detector.
"Oh, just from the old security system! Please don't tell anyone I went to jail In 3 different countries!" He then grabbed the metal detector and ran out.
"Okay then..." I bit my lip.
"Do you think he's hiding something?" Gideon asked.
"Course not! He's just our boring old Grunkle! Come on!" I pulled Gideon's arm and dragged him outside to walk to the Tent Of Telepathy.
We arrived about 10 minutes before the show began, so before we went inside, we bought some popcorn and Pitt Colas, then handed in our tickets and took our seats.
The show began precisely at 8. A few minutes before, they had closed the tent and everyone was just chatting. Me and Gideon were just talking about the news and eating popcorn when the lights suddenly turned off at exactly eight o'clock.
The talking stopped, and suddenly, on stage, there was a flash of red light and someone's face, then it disappeared.
"If you feel sick at any point during the show, please feel free to excuse yourself." I heard a smooth voice that sounded like Dipper's speak.
"If you have epilepsy or have gotten seizures in the past, please exit now. It said outside there is an epilepsy warning."
The room was deathly quiet and still for a few moments, when a girl said, "Great! Let's start the show."
The stage flashed blue for a moment as I saw Dipper in a blue dress shirt, black vest, black cape, and black pants standing on stage. The light flickered, and when it came back on, he was gone.
A girl appeared in a blue light, then disappeared when it flickered. This kept going on, until the flashes and flickers became faster and faster, so fast it hurt my eyes. Then, it stopped, giving my eyes a chance to relax as light music started to play and lights above us like stars started to dully shine.
"Welcome to the Tent Of Telepathy." The girl's voice said, and a dim blue light turned on, revealing a girl with long brown hair and bright blue eyes wearing a blue blouse, a black vest, a black mini-skirt, and heeled boots. In her hair there was a black headband with a blue gemstone on it, like the one Dipper had been wearing on his collar when the lights were flashing and a pastel pentagram pin on her collar. "I'm Mabel,"
"And I'm Dipper," He appeared on stage, but he was floating above Mabel.
"And we're the Twins of Telepathy." They both said, while Dipper slyly smiled at the audience with his arms crossed while levitating.
"Say, Dipper, why are you floating?" Mabel put her hands on her hips and looked up.
"Because I'm 'above you'. Get it?" The crowd laughed at Dipper's pun.
"Oh, brother dear! Get down from there! The girls could see your underwear." The crowd laughed again.
"Fair point, sister dear." He chuckled. He snapped his fingers, and the all of the lights turned off in the room, and suddenly, Dipper was hanging upside down off of the chandelier in the center of the tent.
"Wow." I whispered to myself, looking up as Dipper looked down right at me. I saw him wink as the crowd was gaping.
"Brother dear, stop being such a show off!" Mabel playfully scolded, crossing her arms. "Get down here!"
"Fine, sister." He lightly sighed, and the lights turned off again. The air was still above me, when Dipper appeared right next to his sister and the candles on the chandelier lit up all at the same time, like they were flickering in unity.
"Two can play at that game, brother." Mabel rolled her eyes and she vaporized into blue smoke. The crowd frantically looked around, when there was a call from the back.
"I'm over here!" She giggled, leaning against a tent pole. She vanished again, and then appeared on one hand next to her brother. Mabel then did a back flip up, and landing standing on her feet, and bowed. Everyone clapped, including me and Gideon.
"Now, now, there's much more to see than that." Mabel smiled. "We aren't world-famous just for this. We have been offered shows in Las Vegas, London, Paris, Tokyo... Unfortunately I don't speak Japanese, right, Dipper?"
"Watashi wa anata ga nani ni tsuite hanashite iru no ka wakarimasen."
"What?"
"I just said 'I don't know what you're talking about' in Japanese. Haven't we been having lessons since we were seven?"
"I never paid much attention to those." Mabel laughed. "Anyways, my point is, there's much better things we have to show you than our opening act, right?"
"I don't know, that new trick was a little dangerous."
"Trust me, brother." She said, as someone who looked like their butler rolled out a red and white wheel. "Thank you, Soos. Now, what we're going to do is strap Dipper onto this wheel and throw knives at him while he's spinning."
The crowd gasped and started to talk amongst themselves.
"Are they crazy?" Gideon asked me. "This is sure one weird place."
"Maybe they're joking?" I suggested. The crowd started to quiet as Mabel motioned for them to calm down.
"Don't worry, there has been minimal accidents. I've been doing this for years." Mabel said, as Dipper let himself be strapped onto the wheel. Mabel stood back as Dipper was spun on the wheel, and suddenly, she took knives out of her vest and chucked them at lightning speed at Dipper like Sebastian from the anime Black Butler. I closed my eyes shut, scared of what would happen, scared that I would suddenly hear Dipper wail out in pain and blood splatter, that I would hear the crowd gasp and cry and Dipper would struggle to get out of the straps and fall limp in his sister's arms.
But that didn't happen. I only heard the metallic shing!'s of the knives and the dull thunk of them hitting the wheel. When Mabel ran out of knives, the wheels was turned around to see Dipper completely unharmed and knives surrounding the board around him as he smiled.
"Wasn't that fun? Give a hand for Mabel!" Dipper said, as their butler, Soos started to unstrap Dipper from the wheel and the crowd roared. I clapped, but I was still deathly frightened from the suspense. He must have really trusted his sister!
"And now for our next trick... we will need a volunteer." Dipper said. Lots of hands raised in the crowd, but suddenly, the lights flickered and Dipper disappeared from stage. He was standing right in front of me and Gideon. "How about you two come up?"
"Oh...um..okay!" I smiled, and stood up, along with Gideon. Me and him walked up the aisle with Dipper up to the stage.
"For this trick...we're going to make them levitate in mid-air!"
Oh no.
