Chapter 38

Pacifica

"I'm so excited! My parents will finally be home!" I squealed, as me and Gideon sat in the limousine.
"Yeah, for another one of your stuck-up balls for rich people." He said.
"Come on, Gideon." I sighed. "Work with me here! My parents aren't even home during Christmas!"
"The only reason they're inviting you home for the weekend is because they can't just say that their daughter is staying in a run-down tourist trap in a town that isn't even on a map." Gideon said.
"Ugh!" I dug my pink nails into the leather seat. "You just don't understand! I finally get to see my parents again after they've been doing business in Japan."
"Business? More like malware."
"Shut up!" I shoved Gideon in his seat. "I can still uninvite you, you know."
"I don't care."
"But there's going to be a lot of cute girls and guys there!"
Gideon hesitated. "Fine, I'll be nice; but only because of the chocolate fountain."
"Good." I said. The limousine pulled to a stop in the front of the Southeast Mansion. "Now, let's go in and see my parents!"
We climbed out of the limousine, and raced each other up the front steps. Inside one of the dining rooms, I saw my parents.
"Mom! Dad!" I squealed, running in.
"Pacifica?!" My mother turned around. "What is that you're wearing?!"
"A jacket?" I said.
"Is it designer?"
"No..."
"And your nails?! I told you the theme was sea foam green, not hot pink!"
"I can go repaint them." I said. My father turned around, putting down his newspaper.
"Pacifica, how have you been keeping up on your lessons?" My father asked.
"Oh, um... I actually haven't had a lot of time for them this summer."
"What?" He asked. "We'll get all of your tutors here and you're studying until bedtime after the party."
"Yes, father." I sighed, looking down at the ground.
"And go change! We can't let you be seen in that!" My mother pointed to my jacket, disgusted.
"Yes, mother."
I turned away and was about to walk upstairs to my room, when the dishes started to emit a blue glow and rise up.
Oh no! Is it my amulet? I thought, but then I remembered.
It was the ghost.
Me, Gideon, and my parents dove under a table, as the dishes flew around, crashing into the walls and the servants.
"Oh no! What are we going to do? The party is tonight!" My mother looked baffled.
My father's newspaper flew to the ground in front of us, and the headline was, "Psychic Twins Stun Gravity Falls". The article was about Dipper and Mabel and the Tent of Telepathy.
"There must be someone who can handle this!" My mother cried.
I looked down at the newspaper. "I think I know someone who can."

Dipper

"Pacifica, I don't exactly do ghost-hunting. It's called giving people seizures because of fast flashing lights and getting paid because apparently levitating objects is 'entertainment'." I said, speaking into my phone. "Besides, how do you know it wasn't your amulet?"
"It wasn't! I swear! It's been happening before I came to Gravity Falls, except now it's more frequent and it's going to ruin my parents party! I need you and Mabel to help me with that ghost."
"I don't know, didn't you say Gideon would be there? Him plus Mabel equals disaster. Besides that, Mabel plus people equals murder. Inviting her would be make your party like the game 'Clue'."
"We'd be happy to go!" Mabel snatched my smartphone from me. "But we need two extra invitations."
"Fine." Pacifica said.
"But how are we going to get there so quickly? Isn't your mansion in California?" I asked.
"I can send you a picture of a teleportation spell in me and Gideon's journal. Just hurry!"
"Okay, sounds good!" Mabel sung into my smartphone, and handed it back to me. She took out her own phone. "CANDY, GRENDA, WE'RE GOING SHOPPING!"
"See you there, Dipper!" Pacifica said, and hung up. I sighed.
"What did you just get us into, Mabel?" I demanded, frustrated.
"Um, the best party in the world." She rolled her eyes before returning to her conversation. "Pink dress? Uh-huh, uh-huh..."

Pacifica

I decided on wearing a purple dress, even though the theme was sea foam green, my parents would just have to deal with it. None of the guests ever followed the theme, anyways.
As I walked down the hallway, I saw Gideon come out in his suit and bowtie.
"Ooh, you look fancy!" I said.
"Shut up. Your dad made me wear this. They really are worse than I remember." He said, tugging at the bow tie.
"They aren't that bad." I shrugged. "Sure, they can be frustrating, but they lie and cheat for a living. It must be stressful."
"Yeah, I guess." Gideon sighed. We walked down the long set of stairs leading into the ballroom. Dipper, Mabel, and a few of her friends had already arrived.
"Hi, Dipper!" I ran down the stairs to him, and kissed him. "You're here!"
"Is the boy you were talking about?" My mother asked, walking in with my father.
"Oh, yeah." I said. "Dipper, Mabel, Candy, Grenda, these are my parents."
"Hello." Dipper bowed, and Mabel curtsied. "We're the Twins Of Telepathy."
"Good. Pacifica, why don't you show them the problem room?" My father said, and I nodded.
"Okay, follow me." I said.
"Okay, I'll come in a few seconds, I just need to go get something from that chocolate fountain." Mabel dashed away, and Grenda and Candy followed. My parents didn't notice, they were already critiquing the maids on how the tapestries were hung.
"Ugh, she could at least be grateful for the invitations." I said, crossing my arms.
"I'm sure she'll come later to help." Dipper said, then we looked back over to see Mabel spying on Gideon through a potted plant and her friends chasing through the quails from the gift bags. "Maybe."
"Come on, I'll show you were the ghost is." I held Dipper's hand and led him down the hall.
