Chapter 19
Gideon
"Morning, Pacifica." I said, as she came downstairs.
"Morning." She yawned, rubbing her eyes, and opened the fridge. "Where's the Pacifica juice?"
"I threw it out." Grunkle Stan walked into the kitchen. "It started to smell like if rainbows could puke."
"I'll make more later." She mumbled, and she sat down at the table, where a plate of Stancakes were waiting. She picked up her fork and stabbed a stancake, then lifted out the fork and lightly stabbed it again.
"Pacifica, did you stay up late?" Grunkle Stan asked.
"No, just a silly nightmare." She said, poking the stancake again with the fork. "I'm not hungry."
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'll eat a bigger lunch." Pacifica stood up and went upstairs.
"That must have been a scary nightmare if she's so out of it." I said.
"Yeah, she'll be fine soon. Just has to accept the inevitability of death. That's what nightmares are usually about."
"Maybe." I said.
Later, I went upstairs. Pacifica was reading Journal 3.
"Hey, Paz. Anything interesting?" I asked.
"I thought I saw something in my nightmare in here..." She said, turning a page. "But I can't find it."
"What was it?" I asked.
"A....triangle, I think." She said. "I'm so tired. I'm just going to nap for a bit."
"Sure." I said, as she rested her head down on her pillow.
"Just a little sleep..." She mumbled, closing her eyes. Suddenly, she shot up.
"TRIANGLE!"
"Pacifica, are you okay?" I asked.
"No! I saw it when I closed my eyes! The triangle!"
"Just get some sleep, cuz."
"Right, right." She sleepily nodded. "I just need some slee-TRIANGLE!"
"Pacifica! Just sleep!"
"I can't! Every time I close my eyes I see that weird triangle."
"You need some sleep."
"I know, I know. Maybe a small walk will get my mind off of it and make me tired." She said.
"No, you'll fall flat on your face and sleep in the middle of the road. Sleep. Now."
"Okay, okay." Pacifica sleepily nodded, and her face crashed onto the pillow. Every so often she would mumble "triangle", but she was asleep. I took the journal off of her bed and put it on the dresser.
Dipper
"So that was what her worst fear is?" I demanded. Will shrank back in fear.
"Y-yes, Master."
"The first part is reasonable. After all, nobody wants to lose the people they love, and Mabel did try to kill her. But why was I in there too, and how would she know about this?" I took the amulet on a ring out of my pocket. "It doesn't make sense. She shouldn't have seen this before in her life. And what I said at the end of the nightmare, how would she know about that too?"
"I-I'm not sure, M-master." Will said, wiping away a tear.
"Of course you wouldn't, you're a sniveling coward." I turned around and looked at the ring. To myself, I whispered, "If she knows about this and our secret, I have to protect her. Knowledge is dangerous."
"A-and... M-master,"
"Yes?"
"I-I think she saw me in her mind."
"Will, I told you to be discreet about it!"
"Y-yes, I t-tried, but she saw my shadow when she woke up and s-she was up t-the whole night, staring at a wall."
"Can you do anything right?!" I whipped around, as my amulet started to glow.
"P-please calm down, m-"
"Knife-throwing practice with Mabel tonight."
"Y-yes, Master."
I took a deep breath. "Seriously, maybe I should replace you with that demon from that alternate dimension you mentioned. What was his name? Bill?"
"B-but it can only b-be accessed by-"
"A portal if it isn't in the mindscape, yes. Don't worry, Will, we're not kicking you out anytime soon. Now go and bring me some chocolate."
"Y-yes, Master."
Will floated out of the room.
Pacifica
I was awoken from my nap to hear Gideon calling upstairs that there was someone at the door who wanted to see me.
I dragged myself downstairs, not bothering to fix my messy bun that had gotten way too messy, and down to the door.
"Oh, hi Dipper!" I smiled. "It's nice to see you again."
"Hello, Pacifica." He said, grinning back. "I wanted to talk to you about something,"
"Sure." I nodded. "Let's talk outside. My Grunkle Stan wouldn't want to see me with you after yesterday."
"I can leave if I must-"
"No, no, it's fine." I stepped out onto the porch and closed the door. "What is it you wanted to talk to me about?"
"Pacifica, you're a really nice and beautiful girl, and I was wondering if you would do me the honor of-" he took a deep breath. "Being my girlfriend."
The words took a minute to sink in. "Your girlfriend?"
"Yes. I understand though if you don't want to be, because of my sister or-"
"Yes. I'll be your girlfriend."
He smiled. "Okay, great. I'll see you around, maybe?"
"How about we go on a date?" I asked.
"Sure, when?"
"Tonight. We could go to the diner, maybe."
"Sure. I'll meet you there at 6."
"It's a date!" I smiled.
"Great, I'll see you there. Goodbye." He gave me a kiss on the cheek, and I walked back inside, wildly blushing, as he walked away.
Gideon was standing by the door. "You're his girlfriend?" He asked, crossing his arms. "Really?"
"Yeah, why?" I asked.
"What if he's just like his sister? We all know how that ended!"
"He isn't like his sister!" I said. "If you had half a brain, you would know! He has helped me numerous times! I wouldn't be alive right now if it wasn't for him!"
"He threatened me, before, Pacifica! And he knows about the journal!"
"You're just lying!"
"No, he's using you to get the journal!"
"No! Dipper is a sweet guy, and maybe if you weren't so paranoid all the time you would know that!"
"But-"
"Listen, Gideon." I said. "I'm going on a date tonight because I'm his girlfriend and you aren't going to get in the way! Got it?"
I angrily walked away to the living room to watch TV.
