Chapter 15
Gideon
I managed to sneak away from Mabel and her friends, using the excuse that I had to go to the bathroom. She and her friends were pretty mean. Candy was cyber bullying on her phone and Grenda was spilling soda on people. Meanwhile, Mabel had been trying to get me to like her, but that was not going to happen. I just wanted a break from her and her crazy friends.
"And that's where you come in." I said, drawing a three on Gideon 3's hat.
Instead of blindly following my orders, he shook his head at me and Gideon 2's idea.
"No way am I hanging out with that crazy psychopath!" Gideon 3 shook his head. "Why can't you?"
"Ugh, let's just make another one." I said, and I got back on the copier.
The paper wrinkled as it came out.
"Uh-oh, paper jam." Gideon 2 said, as he threw soda on the paper he had just set on the ground. The newly-emerging paper jam clone collapsed into pink liquid.
"That's not cool, he still could have helped." I said, watching the liquid spill through the gaps between the floorboards.
"Let's just make one more." Gideon 3 said.
The next clone didn't want to do our bidding, either.
"Just because I'm the youngest doesn't mean I want to follow your orders!" Gideon 4 said.
"Well, one of you has to! I made you guys for a reason and it wasn't to object!"
"We aren't going to listen, then." The 3 clone Gideon's crossed their arms.
"Fine!" I grabbed a cup of soda and threw it on Gideon 3. Gideon 2 and 4 gasped, then before I could spill anymore, they both jumped on me, pushing me against the copier. My hand landed on the machine, and I guess I must have accidentally pressed a button, because before long there was a bunch of copies of my hand all over the place.
Gideon 2 and 4 jumped back as the hands jumped all over the place, while I had climbed to the top of the copying machine. I grabbed a bottle of Pitt Cola I had kept in my pocket in case of a situation like this and shook it.
"No!" The two Gideon's screamed, as the cap popped off, sending soda everywhere. It sprayed on them and the hands, and soon the room was covered in the pink remains of my former clones and copies of my hands.
Sorry, clones. I thought, but I realized there was a silver lining; Mabel couldn't threaten me anymore with showing everyone my clone.
But I still had to work at the ticket booth.
Was that still better than hanging out with her?
Yeah.
Dipper
I felt horrible. Maybe I had went too fast, maybe she wasn't ready to be kissed. I should have asked her out first or...
Suddenly, I heard Pacifica scream.
"No! Stop!"
"Pacifica, where are you? Pacifica?" I took off in the direction she ran.
"What are you doing? Stop!" I heard her scream again. "This isn't real! Make it stop! DIPPER! DIPPER! Make it stop!!"
I found Pacifica leaned against a tree, her eyes glowing yellow. I looked to see a Gremloblin.
"Hey!" I yelled at the Gremloblin, and my amulet started to glow. "Get out of here and away from Pacifica!"
The Gremloblin's body started to glow blue as I made it float up into the air as it struggled, flailing its arms and legs.
I threw the Gremloblin once it was high enough, and it flew deep into the forest, landing with a satisfying bang.
"I'd be surprised if he survived that." I said, letting my amulet grow dull. I turned around to Pacifica, who was now lying on the ground, passed out. I knelt down and gently shook her.
"Pacifica? Are you okay? Pacifica?" I asked. She groaned and hid her face with her hands.
"Five more minutes, Gideon, I don't want to get up early for a monster hunt today."
"Come on, Pacifica, wake up."
"I'll give you back your journal, just let me sleep." She mumbled.
"Pacifica, it's me, Dipper."
"Dipper?" She opened her eyes and sat up, her eyes darting around. Her breathing grew rapid.
"Pacifica! Are you okay?"
She hugged me, as tears spilled out her eyes.
"No." She sobbed. "The nightmare I had...it was so horrible."
"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked. "It might make you feel better."
"No." She shook her head.
"It's okay." I reassured her.
"I-I would t-tell you but y-you were in it and I don't want you to be m-mad..." She starting crying.
"It's fine, if you tell me I won't be mad." I said.
"Not right now." She said, and we stayed there hugging, for five minutes before we stood up.
"Do you want me to walk you back to the Mystery Shack?" I asked. She nodded.
We walked together, with her arm slung over my shoulder, back to the Mystery Shack. Gideon was sitting at the ticket booth, where currently nobody was in line.
"Goodnight, Pacifica." I said.
"Goodnight, Dipper." She tried to smile, but it fell weakly. She turned around and walked inside. Gideon walked over.
"Was she crying?" He demanded. "Did you make her cry?"
"No, we just had a small run-in with a Gremloblin."
"A small run-in? How can you be so casual about that?"
"Relax, it's probably dead." I said. Gideon crossed his arms.
"Well, you better not make my cousin cry again! You're just like Mabel-"
"Try saying that again, Gideon." I said. "Because I'm older than you, and I have this." I pointed to my amulet. "What do you have? Some stupid journal? You think you're so powerful, but I have a demon on my side."
"H-how do you know about my journal?" He asked, backing up a bit.
"I know a lot of things, Gideon. So I would suggest staying away from me and never telling Pacifica this little encounter happened, or maybe I'll kidnap you and give you to Mabel. Got it?"
Y-yeah." Gideon glared up at me for a second and walked away.
As I walked away from the Shack (without paying my $15 exit fee) I wondered what Pacifica's worst nightmare was, and why I was in it.
When I got home, I called out.
"Will!"
A blue triangle with ready eyes raced over.
"S-sorry, master, I accidentally broke a few plates and I spilled some water... please don't have Miss Mabel throw knives at me again!"
"Calm down, you blubbering fool." I said. "I need you to enter the mind of someone."
"Oh, yes, who?" He asked.
"Pacifica Southeast. I need you to tell me what her worst nightmare is."
"Tonight?"
"No, we need you for knife-throwing practice. How about next week?"
"Y-yes, master." Will said obediently, and floated away to clean up whatever he broke.
