Chapter 12

Gideon

"Why did you call a staff meeting?" I asked, as me, Pacifica, and Wendy sat on the couch in the multipurpose room where Grunkle Stan had called us.
"Tonight I decided we're going to hold a party." He said. "We'll be able to make some good money off of those teens. Tickets are $5, and the exit fee is $15."
"Wow, a party!" Pacifica squealed. "That sounds so fun!"
"Yeah, if those kids want fun, I'll smother them with fun."
Grunkle Stan looked at his list. "Pacifica and Gideon, you copy this and hang them up wherever people can see them. Wendy, I need you to decorate and help set up."
"Sure." She said.
"I'll give you more stuff to do later. Now go do what you're supposed to. And kids, use that copying machine in my office. I fixed it up."
Grunkle Stan walked out of the room, and Pacifica groaned.
"I was hoping to go to the copying store!" She pouted.
"Well, seeing as Grunkle Stan was the one who fixed the copier, it should be just as much of an adventure." I sighed. "Let's go."
Me and Pacifica went into Grunkle Stan's office, which was dark except for the copier in the corner, which emitted a faint, blue light.
We walked over to it and I lifted up the dusty lid. Tape and globs of glue covered the machine, along with an occasional spark somewhere.
"Are you sure this is safe to use?" I asked Pacifica. She shrugged.
"I trust Grunkle Stan. Besides, it's a copying machine, not some evil sentient robot. We'll be just fine." Pacifica leaning her arm on the copier when she stumbled and accidentally pressed a button on the keypad, causing the copier to activate.
"Whoops!" She giggled, and stood back up. "I think the floor needs to be fixed, too. I think I tripped over a nail."
The copier spit out the piece of paper with her arm on it, and she picked it up. She was about to throw it in the recycling bin when she dropped the paper and jumped back.
"What is it?" I asked. "Don't tell me there's another spider."
"No, it vibrated! I could feel the paper shake."
"Paper is pretty thin, of course it's going to-"
Suddenly, I heard the rustle of paper. I looked down to see Pacifica's printed hand moving off of the paper.
We both screamed. On instinct, I grabbed a glass of old soda and threw it at her printed paper hand.
The hand started to melt into a thick, dark pink puddle of sludge.
We stared at it for a few seconds before turning to each other.
"Do you know what this means?" Pacifica asked, and she took a can of Silly String out of her backpack and pressed the nozzle, sending the smelly pink stuff at my face. "BLARGH!"
"Now really isn't the time for that." I said, wiping the Silly String off. "I can't believe it! This can copy human beings!"
"Let's just copy the flyers and get out. This printer gives me the creeps." Pacifica said.
"Agreed."

Pacifica

After we were done copying the flyers, me and Gideon went into town to hang up the flyers. I decided to start at the diner, where I stapled one onto a nearby tree.
I was about to walk away when I spotted Dipper walking out of the diner.
I froze. There he was, the guy who saved me.
Suddenly, I felt my stomach churn, and my heart beat faster. I could feel sweat collecting under my sweater.
I don't want him to see me! I thought, and just as the door opened, I dropped the stack of flyers I was holding, turned on my heels, and ran.
I raced into the forest and stumbled over a tree root, but I quickly stood back up again and kept running until I tripped over a log.
Why do I feel like this? I thought, sitting up and sinking against the log. I have had crushes before, but I never was this nervous. I always knew what to say, what to do.
But now, I had no idea what to do.

Dipper

I walked out of the diner as soon as I was done with my lunch. As I came out, I looked around to see a stack of papers dropping and a blonde girl in a sweater running into the forest.
"Pacifica?" I walked over to the stack of papers she had dropped and picked up one. "Party at the Mystery Shack, huh?".

Gideon

After I was done putting up the flyers, I headed back to the Shack and waited outside for Pacifica on the beaten, yellow couch on the porch.
"Where is she? It shouldn't take this long." I mumbled, shooting my Nyarf gun at a wall.
"Hi, Gideon." I looked over to see Pacifica dragging her feet as she walked over.
"Are you okay, Pacifica?" I asked.
"Yeah." She looked up and gave me a smile. "I'm going to lie down for a bit. I feel a little sick, probably drank too much Pacifica Juice."
"Yeah, you should stop putting caffeine in that stuff." I said. Pacifica went inside.

Later, Pacifica said she was feeling better, protesting she felt well enough for the party even though she still looked sick.
"Pacifica and Wendy, you kids can sell the tickets." Grunkle Stan said.
"But it's my chance to meet people!" Pacifica protested.
"I can take over Pacifica's place." I offered. "I promise."
"Alright." Grunkle Stan crossed something Pacifica's name off the list. "Okay, so Pacifica, you just do whatever you want."
Pacifica looked over at me, and mouthed, thank you. I smiled back and nodded.
