Conspicuous

I have no idea who requested this because this was from a long long long time ago. Anyways, hope y'all enjoy!

Throughout the town of Reverse Falls, there was one thing that everyone knew about. Reverse Falls was never the type of town to be quiet, yet it was able to stay safely off the map.

Everyone knew the Suits. Where they had stemmed from, who they actually were, nothing was known. The most formidable were Diamond and Spades. No matter what law enforcement authorities tried to subdue them, they bounced right back. They were insane supervillains after all.

If they were caught, they escaped in less than three minutes. It was a desperately futile game of Cat and Mouse that went on for years.

But one person had a little more information on them then the rest of the force. She had been chasing them for years, whether it was her assignment or not, she never enjoyed it when they won. It was beyond infuriating.

On their latest escapade, Pacifica had taken aim and fired into the crowd of them. It was a weird tactic the Suits had; they swarmed big enough to keep any attention off of their boss. They swarmed like moths exposed to light.

Through the chaos of the swarming, Pacifica noticed that she had actually shot someone; Spades. He laid on the ground, blood pouring out of a wound on his leg (had she really hit him in the leg? She always assumed she had better aim than that) more henchmen swarming him.

Pacifica heard loud commotion but before she and her force could act upon it, the Suits (and the most important of the lot) had disappeared in the blink of an eye.

At that moment, she didn't really care if they escaped, because Pacifica did shoot him. That was what she was fixated on. How could she have done something so stupid?

"Pacifica!"

Pacifica couldn't help but groan. Of course it was her dad, running toward her. She already knew exactly what he was going to say. 'You shouldn't be here! When I suggested that you intern for the force—'

"You shouldn't be here!" He exclaimed, wrenching the gun out of her hand. "When I suggested—"

"I know, Dad, I know." Pacifica shrugged and looked across the alleyway, frowning instantaneously. If Spades had allowed even a drop of his blood to drip onto the concrete before them, they could easily figure out who he was. But he was smarter than that, Pacifica knew in great deal how smart he was. "But my intel was good, wasn't it? I told you that they were gonna be here!"

Preston Southeast looked torn between complimenting her and scolding her. "Your intel was good, it's true, but you have to leave this work to the actual adults. Otherwise you're just as criminal as the Suits."

Pacifica bit her tongue.

"Sir, information," an op jogged over to where Preston stood. "Spades was shot."

Preston's eyes widened. "Are you serious, David? Who? Is there—"

"No, no blood." He sighed. "He's too smart. Even when he's bleeding out he prioritizes."

Pacifica couldn't help but grin at that. It was amusing, to say the least.

"Is he alive?" Preston demanded. "This thing has done too much damage to society, I will not allow him the easy way out."

"He's alive." Pacifica sighed and shook her head. "I, uh,"

"Oh yeah!" David grinned. "Your daughter's one helluva shot! Got him in the midst of everything! Wish you coulda seen it, Preston!"

Preston scrubbed angrily at his face. "Pacifica, honey, I know you want to help more than anything, but you understand that it is too dangerous!"

"It's not!" Pacifica yelled. "It is far from dangerous, I am never hurt in these scenarios, because I was trained by you! I know what I'm doing."

"I'm making sure Bud keeps an eye on you the next time we're out here." Preston continued, ignoring his daughter's speech. "That way you'll actually stay and do intern work."

Pacifica huffed angrily as she was escorted away by her dad. Catching a glimpse of the gun in her dad's hand, she winced. She really had shot Spades, hadn't she? Boy, that was going to make the next few days awkward.

You see, Pacifica knew more than most people gave her credit for. Her intel on where the Suits typically were was hardly ever wrong. It also explained why she knew her boyfriend, Dipper Gleeful, would have a limp the next few days. She was never going to hear the end of it.

It was later that evening when she received the clarification that 'Spades' was, indeed, okay. Via a phone call.

"Well? Have you anything to say for yourself, sweetheart?" Said his annoyingly taunting voice. He still donned his Suits Persona, no doubt expressing his pain via his voice.

"Geez, Dipper, I'm sorry." Pacifica groaned and slammed her head onto her pillow. "I truly wasn't trying to shoot you."

"Do you even understand what has happened these past few hours, Pazzie? I have been through my family's makeshift hospital removing a bullet from my leg!" He exclaimed.

"I said I was sorry," Pacifica sighed, "what else do you want from me?"

"Well, a kiss would go a long way." Dipper murmured, slowly but surely dropping the persona.

"Are you even going to be at school tomorrow?" Pacifica dared to ask.

"I'm afraid I dunno what will be more conspicuous; me missing a day after the big shoot-out, or me coming to school after the big shoot-out with a bullet wound on my leg." Dipper murmured nonchalantly.

"I don't understand." Pacifica groaned. "I even shot you when no one else has, and yet my dad doesn't think I'm good enough."

"Yes, I take pride in not being shot, Pazzie-darling." Dipper scoffed. "Irregardless, he still thinks you're not good enough?"

"Yeah." Pacifica muttered, glumly. "Don't you think that sucks?"

"As much as getting shot? Sure." Dipper added a snarky lilt to his voice that Pacifica couldn't help laughing at. Always one for theatrics, her boyfriend was.

It was a week before Dipper returned to school. When asked about it, he explained that he had a family emergency that required his immediate presence.

The limp was barely even there anymore, so Pacifica felt no shame in running toward him, and jumping up on him.

"Hey, you." Dipper murmured, scooping her up. "What's this about?"

"I-I just missed you." She sighed, the underlying message; I'm glad you're not dead and I'm sorry.

"No reason to miss me, now." Dipper grinned and kissed the top of her head. The underlying message; no reason to apologize.

"Ugh, this cuddle-fest is going to kill me." Mabel groaned from where she stood behind her brother.

See, Pacifica was important because she knew Spades's real identity, but in tow, she knew who Diamond was. Her boyfriend's twin sister and slight rival. 'Diamond' had no idea that Pacifica knew who they really were. It would be hilarious, but this was serious.

"Sorry, Mabel." Pacifica detached herself from Dipper and cleared her throat. "I forget you don't have anyone to love."

Mabel bristled. "Watch it, Southeast."

"Ladies," Dipper rolled his eyes, "this is hardly necessary, now, is it? Please, do try to get along."

Pacifica bit her lip and nodded. Dipper was right, it wasn't really worth it. Sometimes it just felt good to add insult to injury. After Mabel stalked off to hang out with her other friends, who she assured Pacifica loved her a lot, Pacifica looked at Dipper's leg.

"Is it okay?" She winced and shut her eyes tight. Pacifica really didn't mean to shoot him at all. With adrenaline rushing through her veins, the heat of the moment, she just squeezed the trigger.

"Hm? Oh, yes." Dipper nodded vaguely. "No need to discuss it anymore."

"Right." Pacifica nodded as well.

"Well, Pazzie, I was thinking the two of us could get away for awhile? My grandfather's winter lodge is empty this weekend." Dipper grinned and draped an arm over Pacifica's shoulder. "What do you think about that?"

Pacifica sighed. "The last time you took me out of town, the Suits set an attack on the police headquarters and you didn't want me to get hurt. So, I'm gonna have to pass."

Dipper winced, the blow to his near translucent plan was kicking him in the head now. "So, no?"

"Sorry," Pacifica shook her head, "are you okay?"

"Hey," Dipper held up his hands and whistled a tuneless whistle as he walked away, "it's not like you shot me."

Pacifica felt the blood drain from her face, only to rush back up, causing her to blush. "Dipper!"
