Chapter 9
WARNING: GOSSIP GIRL SPOILER ALERT! (SORT OF)
*LOUIS'S POV*
"How did it go?" Harry asked me, pausing a football game and looking at me with expectant eyes.
"It didn't work. She still hates me." I sighed, collapsing on the couch next to him.
"Did you swoop in and save the day?" He replied.
"Yeah, I did everything you told me to." I said.
"Well, it normally works on the ladies. Maybe I'm just more likeable...I mean, we already know I'm more attractive." He smirked.
"And still below drinking age in America." I shot back, taking the beer from his hand and drinking what was left.
Earlier in the week, Harry had noticed that I was upset and tried to devise a plan for me to get Chloe back. He, of course, found a reliable source telling him about Hunter's party and immediately informed me. I was going to show up anyway, but when Chloe called me it gave me a legitimate reason to be there. That stupid Noah guy was hired and the rest just fell into place. She was supposed to love me again after she saw I could take care of her, but I was wrong.
"I just don't know what's left for me to do." I said.
"All I can say is that if you two are meant to be together, everything will fall into place. It did with Chuck and Blair." He answered.
"Who the hell are Chuck and Blair?" I asked.
"Gemma liked Gossip Girl, okay?"
I laughed and rested my head against the back of the couch, going over everything that had gone wrong in me and Chloe's relationship: first I cheated on her, then I sent her mixed messages and now I can't even give her the space she deserves.
What the hell is wrong with me?
I let Harry know that I was going up to my room, and rushed up the stairs. Wallowing in my self pity had given me an idea, and it was much better than some plan thought out by a 20 year old.
I quickly changed into my pajamas and grabbed my laptop. People always say if you can't take a horse to water, take the water to the horse...or something like that, so I made a short list of everywhere Chloe had mentioned on her Twitter, Instagram and even Facebook. Chloe obviously couldn't handle me in big doses, so I'll pretend to "run into her" at the store and then she gets someone to talk to and I win her back.
It's foolproof.

First stop: hair salon.
Chloe had mentioned that she was in "desperate need" of a trim, and would be visiting her local salon today. I hadn't really come up with any excuse as to why I would be there, but hey, everybody could use a haircut every now and again.
I drove a circle around the parking lot, looking for Chloe's baby blue Bug. I spotted it and strategically parked my car in front of the next door bakery, so she wouldn't think I was following her. I hopped out of my car and rushed inside the bakery, picking up two croissants.
I paused outside the door, checking myself in the reflection of the window. I opened the door and signed my name at the bottom of a long list and took a seat next to the blonde girl who was trying to hide her face with the magazine.
"That's a terrible hiding spot." I whispered to her, feeling quite good about my plan.
Chloe lowered the magazine and narrowed her eyes at me.
"Louis, why are you here?" She asked, leaning back in her chair.
"Can a guy not go in for a hair cut every now and then?" I replied, trying not to think about the way she had her hair pulled away from her face...it was my favorite way for her to wear it.
"Were you stalking me on Twitter or something? Creeping around?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"What?" I answered, pretending to be shocked. "I have not done that once in my life, and don't plan to anytime soon. I was actually picking up a snack at the bakery."
"Okay, Louis." Chloe sighed, reopening her magazine.
"You want one?" I offered, handing her the bag.
She smiled and nodded, halving her croissant and tapping it to mine in a "cheers!" sort of fashion.
Step one in Louis's amazingly awesome and witty plan: check.
~~~
"So." Harry said when I walked in.
"So." I replied, a smile plastered on my face as I sat down beside him.
"I saw that picture of you and Chloe on Instagram. I believe it was captioned 'Ran into Louis at the salon'. You went to a salon?"
"It was for men and women." I said, defending myself. "And anyway, it was worth it. We had lunch."
"How long are you going to keep following her around? There are plenty of super hot, super rich, amazingly perfect women out there who would LOVE to date you. Why are you wasting your time chasing after Chloe?" Harry asked, taking a sip of his beer.
"You're still underage." I pointed out, trying to take away his beer and avoid the question at hand.
"Louis, answer the damn question." He replied, holding his drink out of arms reach.
I exhaled loudly, rubbing my hand over my eyelids and trying to think of an answer that wouldn't sound absolutely pathetic, but no matter how many times I went over my response in my head, it just wasn't right.
"Harry, have you ever met someone, that by just saying one word to them or making that one second of eye contact, determines if they're the one or not?" I asked, desperately trying to explain my situation.
Harry brought his hand to his chin in thought and then put it back in his lap. "No."
I rolled my eyes but kept going. "Well, one day that's going to happen to you and no matter how hard you try or how many girls you date, you just can't get that special girl out of your head. She's so amazing Harry, and no matter how many times we fight or how many times I screw up, we always end up back together. She's the absolute only one for me and whether she knows it or not, I will pursue her because she means more to me than anyone will ever know. I don't expect you to understand or even put the pieces together about whats happening, but I know, okay? I just know that one day we will find our ways back to each other." I finished, taking a deep breath in and holding it while Harry stared at me.
He slowly opened his mouth and then closed it again, thinking about his choice of words. "If you two always end up together like you say," he started, "then why not just wait it out? Why go to all lengths just to see her that one day?"
I closed my eyes, about to explain to him that I can't go 24 hours without seeing her smile or hearing her laugh, because it just makes my day ten times better, but then I realized that he wouldn't understand. He wouldn't get the way I felt about her and maybe he was right; maybe I should just give up and wait until she comes around.
"Yeah." I said quietly. "Yeah I guess you're right."
I wasn't sure if I was ready to admit it or not, but this might be the end of my search for Chloe's love. She would come around eventually.
Right?
