Chapter 8
*LOUIS'S POV*
I stepped on the gas as the light turned green and pulled onto the next road. The house had to be close. I was smelling beer already. I found the house, red cups littering the yard and loud music booming from inside.
"Am I that wasted, or is that Louis Tom..Tomlinson?" A girl shouted, slurring her words.
She was absolutely wasted. My God, these people.
I ignored her and walked to the porch. I doubt that a wild party like this was invite only, so I pushed the door open and stumbled inside, trying to push people out of my way. The house was crowded with people, and they seemed to keep pouring out of every doorway. I recognized Hunter and rushed over to him.
"Louis! What up, my man." He laughed, offering me a high five.
I couldn't tell if he was drunk or not by listening, but his eyes were clouded over and bloodshot, so I figured that he was.
"Hey. Have you seen Chloe?" I asked.
"What? Can't hear you. The music is way too loud." He yelled, pointing at his ear.
"Have. You. Seen. Chloe." I shouted, getting irritated. Why would Chloe be at a frat party like this anyway?
"Sorry bro, I still can't hear you." Hunter laughed, finishing off his drink and throwing the cup on the ground.
I looked around the house again, keeping an eye out for Chloe, before turning back to Hunter. I got really close to his ear and tried relaying my message one last time.
"Oh, yeah! She went...um...somewhere over there." He told me, pointing to his left. "But, hey, she's here, having fun!"
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. When I looked back up, Morgann was now standing with Hunter, a scowl on her face.
"Get out." She said, gesturing towards the door.
"No, Morgann. I need to get Chloe." I replied, holding my ground.
"Why would you think that? She's here to get you off her mind and maybe even hook up with somebody." Morgann told me, crossing her arms.
"Hook up with somebody? Morgann, you don't understand, she's drunk and might be in trouble." I insisted.
"Yeah right. Get the hell out, Louis."
*CHLOE'S POV*
"You're so hot." Noah whispered, spilling some beer on the carpet.
"Where...where's um...Lou...Louis?" I asked, my eyes becoming heavy.
"Shhhh, babe. Just drink." He said, tilting the cup back up to my lips.
Thirty minutes ago, I had complained to Noah about my terrible headache, and he gave me a small pill, which he claimed was Tylenol. I was starting to doubt that statement now.
"Noah...what did...um, are you sure that was Tylenol?" I asked, trying to keep my thoughts in order.
I could've sworn that he mumbled "no" under his breath, but he just smiled and nodded. I closed my eyes, trying to clear the hallucination of a dancing elephant in front of me.
"You okay?" Noah asked me, grabbing my elbow to steady me.
I shook my head no and he told me we could go up to his room for somewhere quiet. I guess I nodded along, because we climbed the stairs to his room and seconds later he unlocked the door.
I stumbled inside and let out a drunken burp, causing Noah and me to burst into laughter.
"That was a good one." He laughed, sitting down on the floor.
"Yeah, I know." I agreed, sitting down next to him.
"So, are you having fun yet?" He asked, inching closer to me.
"A little I guess." I giggled, dancing a little to the music coming from downstairs.
Noah came a little closer, his hand now brushing against mine and leaned in close to my ear, his lips very close to my hair. "What about now?"
I pulled away and looked at him, my mind getting more and more fuzzy. He placed his hand on my cheek, leaned in and kissed me.
"Chloe?"
I shot apart from Noah, staring at Louis in the doorway.
"What did you do to her?" Louis demanded, crouching by my side.
"Nothing, dude. What the hell is going on? Is he your boyfriend?" Noah asked, confused.
"No. I actually don't know why he's here." I said, standing up and trying to walk towards the door.
Louis followed me, leaving a drunk and confused Noah. I stormed down the stairs, gripping the rail tightly. Morgann was standing at the bottom of them, giving me an apologetic look.
"Did you tell him I was up there?" I demanded, wiping away the tears falling down my cheeks.
"I'm sorry, he wouldn't leave until he found you." She answered. "Why are you crying, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. I just want to go home." I sniffed, watching Louis walk down the stairs towards us.
"Well I can't drive, and you can't drive, so who's going to take you home?" Morgann replied.
"I will." Louis said, standing beside me.
"Oh, hell no. I would rather walk."
"Come on." He insisted, pulling me behind him.
I reluctantly followed him, forcing myself to stop crying. I got into his car, resting my head against the window. I pretended to sleep, waiting until the car stopped at my house.
"Chloe? We're here." Louis whispered, placing a hand on my leg.
I jumped away and looked at him, rolling my eyes and pushing the door open.
"What's your problem?" He demanded, getting out of the car and trailing behind me.
"Do you really want to know what my problem is?" I asked, suddenly sober. "My problem is that you disappear from my life for months, no doubt meeting with other girls, and then you think you can swoop in, like some damn super hero, and save me from a college party. I've got news for you, I can handle myself, so back off!"
I stormed inside, closing the door behind me, and leaning against it. I watched out the window as Louis dropped his head and walked slowly to his car, looking back at the house. When he got in his car, and drove away, a little part inside me crumbled.
It took a long time to realize, but I needed Louis Tomlinson, and instead of telling him that, I was letting him drive away.
