CHAPTER 27

Hey, how are you doing? I'm sorry for the delay, I was caught with my exams :3 And I have to admit, I don't know when will be the next update because tomorrow I'm flying for Berlin (yeaaah!!) for an internship and I still have so many things to sort out ^^.

Anyway, I hope you're all okay and that you will enjoy this chapter ;)

Like always, please, vote and comments !!!

It feels nice to be out of the campus. I grab my purse and we head in silence to the entrance. I'm about to reach the knob but Nate gets it first. He opens me the door with what resembles to be a timid smile spreads on his lips. I feel my eyes widening under his action, but I pull myself together before expressing any surprise. I give him a 'thank you' nod with a smile before I enter.

I have difficulty to keep up with Nate. I never saw him acting like he does today with me or anyone else before. I don't know him for a long time either, but after what I heard and what I've witnessed, 'good boy' doesn't seem to be his style.

I don't know if he did it because he heard me about this gentleman thing, but I like when he is acting like this, it changes from the 'I don't wait for you'.

When I step in, I feel his hand placing itself on the small of my back, and my body shivers at the contact.

We head toward the bottom of the coffee. Nate sits in front of me, and I let out a little chuckle when his hair falls again on his forehead. He smiles and shakes his head to remove the strands away from his face.

The waitress arrives when he is shaking his hair and I can't help to discreetly smirk when I notice the way she smiles at him. She flips off her hair in a terrible attempt to get his attention when she asks us, or rather him, what we want.

"I'll have a Strawberry Milkshake." I cut off her admiration with a beautiful charming fake smile. She looks at me and flushes before she hurries to write down my order. I can feel the amusing side glance of Nate on me. I don't want to let him think I care about him, or that I'm jealous, but she is in my territory right now and I don't like to be put in the shade.

"Bring me a coke please," he commands.

"She is pretty cute," he cockily smiles when she leaves.

"So, what was the invitation for?" I ask as I stare into his emerald eyes, not responding to his stupid observation even if it burns me to roll my eyes.

"To talk"

"About?"

"Whatever you want."

"All I want?" I carefully ask, my eyes narrowing at the announcement. I would love to have him answering my questions.

He seems to reconsider his proposition after my question, a smile growing on the corner of his lips.

"Maybe not. Let's do a game."

Here we are again.

"You know not everything has to be a game," I state on the edge of sighing.

"And you know you don't have to be grumpy all the time," he grins. Is he making fun of me?

"I'm not!" I defend myself "And you're the one saying this. You have more mood changes that I have clothes." I cross my arms in defense, looking up and down at him with a frown.

He chuckles, but I don't. The waitress comes back with our orders and this time, she barely looks at him.

"You're funny." I bit my tongue when he says this. I hate this remark.

I take a sip of my milkshake, diverting my gaze from him. He already gets on my nerves. I start to regret the times when he was not talking.

"What decided you to study marketing?" He suddenly asks.

I lift my head, frowning. "Because I like it...And I'm in business," I rectify.

He nods, and he takes a sip of his soda, but something in his behavior tells me he thinks otherwise. I keep frowning, trying to figure out what is behind his attitude.

"What?" I ask, hardly hiding my annoyance.

"Nothing." He takes another sip from his glass, and I silently sigh.

I don't get what his reaction is about. Probably something else about my life being too easy, but I know the business world and I like it. I like being the boss and I know I'm good at it. I knew I was going to work at my father's enterprise from the first day he brought me there. I also know I want to be part of the family business and this is the only way I can achieve this goal.

"And you? You still haven't told me. What are you studying exactly?" I cross my arms on the table.

"I'm in business, but I'm also taking literature classes," he tells me.

That wasn't expected. He told me a few minutes ago he was in business, but literature...

"Surprise?" he asks with a smile.

"I don't know," I admit "I haven't thought about what you are studying." I want to add I'm not a bit interested in his life, but that would be a lie and since we are asking each other questions, I continue.

"What do you want to do, in the future?" I ask him. I bring the straw to my lips and take a new sip, looking at him.

Now that I know what he is doing at the university, I'm curious to know more. The goals people fix to themselves reveals a lot about them.

"I would like to have my own company, I don't like working for others. I want to run a publishing house. This is why I'm taking managerial and business courses in general besides."

I wasn't expecting him to give me that much information. Something in his voice makes him sounds like a dreamer, and the force behind his tone proves he is ready to do anything to achieve it. It is easy to say this project matters a lot to him.

I'm still surprised by all I learn about him. I know he finds my project senseless, but I'm not going to make fun of his. I actually find it interesting and I want to keep the way we are talking to each other.

"You know my dad has one?" I inform him.

"Of course, he does," he laughs. "What about you?"

"I will work in the family company." I naturally answer, taking a new sip of my milkshake.

"I didn't ask you what your father wants you to do, but what you want."

"It's what I want!" I state.

"If you say it," he shrugs before drinking and I bit my lip.

How does he dare to judge me when all he knows about me are the assumptions he makes. This is what I want to do, and I'll be good at it. My father doesn't have any control over my life. I'm free to do whatever I want. And even if I took this path to get closer to my family and to gain their full trust, I don't see when it's Nate's business. I'm sure he has other things to sort out in his life before tidying mine.

"You know you'll need to be a bit less touchy when you will deal with people," he says with clear amusement, probably entertained by my facial expressions.

"Shut up," I grumble, and he laughs. His light mood almost creates a smile on my lips. It relieves me it doesn't push the conversation further and turn our time out in another fight.

We manage to come back to a neutral conversation, talking about parties and school in general. He gives me tips about the lectures and makes few allusions in the way he could help me to study and I admit, I do have a great time after all.

As soon as we finish our beverages, we head out, but not before I glare at him when he pays, but I keep my mouth shut. For once we get along, I'm not going to ruin everything.

He drives me back to the dorm and when I climb down, he follows me.

"What are you doing? Don't tell me you are hiding from another girl?" I look at him, my arms crossed over my chest. I sound playful, but I'm not sure to be answerable for myself if I come to learn all of this was only to run away from someone else.

He chuckles. "No, I'm not hiding. I just want to spend more time with you." He winks, and I roll my eyes. It looks like shy-gentleman Nate is gone.

I go to my room, Nate on my heel's. I don't know if he is here to piss me off or if he truly wants to stay with me, or if there is another reason, but I know that no matter what it is, he is going to do whatever pleases him. And he says I'm the brat...

Actually, I don't mind his presence. We had quite a good time and even if it is dangerous to push the peace further, I find myself wanted him to stay as well. I'm not going to admit it though.

Georgia is sitting on her bed when I enter, but she isn't reading. Actually, she is doing nothing. Her eyes are red, and she is wiping her cheeks with the sleeve of her sweat that is covering her hand.
