"what is it?" i ask shawn, as a pure look of horror flashes over his face. "shawn?" his eyes go wide, as he quickly types and taps away at his phone, before he gets a call, which he quickly declines, going back to tapping away.
"andrews gonna call you, be prepared," he quickly says, as we both hear my phone ring, and andrews name flash across the screen. "oh god, what the fuck did we just do?"
"hello?" i answer, pressing the phone to my ear.
"put me on speaker anya," andrew tells me, himself sounding more and more angry by the minute. i gulp back a shaky breath, before obeying, and leaving the phone on speaker, waiting for andrew to yell at shawn and i. "are you both out of your fucking minds? you broke up, two fucking years ago! why did you decide to get married? what the fuck made you get married?"
"andrew, we were drunk, calm down," shawn says, rubbing his hand over his temples.
"i don't care if you were drunk, i don't think you understand, you two are married! you literally got married!" shawn and i look at each other, realisation flashing over both of our faces, before i quickly break the eye contact, putting my head in my hands.
"can't we just go and get a divorce before things get messy?" shawn asks andrew, worried.
"for your information, things have already gotten messy. you both fucking posted it on social media!"

"oh no, no, no, this is bad," i mumble, scrolling through shawns phone, seeing both of our posts, which most definitely got the attention of everyone.
"you don't say," andrew says, making shawn and i roll our eyes. "you know what, i will fucking get you that divorce, both of you screwed up."
"are you in the hotel?" shawn asks, worried for his own status.
"yeah, you both better come here right now, and shawn, your mother wants to talk to you." shawn gulps at andrew, nervousness filling his expression. "just get here as soon as you can." andrew hangs up, making shawn and i both sigh.
"what the heck did we do?" i ask shawn, as he sighs back, shaking his head, and looking down.
"i really don't know," he says gently, before standing up, and walking back into the main room, probably to get dressed. my phone begins to obnoxiously ring again, and i sigh, going to answer it.
"are you fucking mad?" adam yells at me, making me sigh once again. "you married the guy who broke your heart?"
"adam, please don't yell at me, i don't know what i did," i say gently, feeling the tears build at my eyes. he lets out an angry breath, before cursing loudly.
"do you know how mad mom is? do you know how mad i am?" he shouts again, as a tear rolls down my cheek.
"i-i didn't know what was gonna happen, i-i was drunk, a-and so was he," i sniffle, as adam groans again.
"whatever anya, i'll see you when you come back," he hangs up the phone, and i sigh, shutting my phone off, and wiping away my tears, before standing up and sighing softly, waiting for shawn to come out.
"adams your brother?" shawn asks me, coming out of the main room, and i realise that he was eavesdropping. i sigh, nodding my head slightly, looking down at the floor. "oh my god, are you crying?"
"that obvious?" i mutter, wiping away my tears, before sniffling, and looking up, seeing shawn standing there, a soft look over his face.
"don't cry, we'll sort this out, i promise," he reassures me, walking forward, and pulling my hands away from my face. "i know it's scary, and i know it isn't the situation that you want to be in, but we'll get the divorce or annulment or whatever they call it, and everything will be okay again." i nod my head gently, biting down on my lower lip. "come on, let's head to andrews room before he sends an angry mob at us."
i chuckle gently at shawns response, following him out of the hotel room, and down a floor, where we wait outside another room, the door identical to his. shawn knocks firmly, before anxiously shoving his hands in his pockets, something that i've learnt that he does whenever he's nervous about something.
"get in, you two," andrew mutters, answering the door. shawn and i nod, entering the room, our heads hung low, as andrew shouts the door firmly, guiding us to the meeting style desk he has in his room, where shawn and i sit down, nervously waiting for andrew to yell at us.
"oh my god, you guys had sex too?" andrew groans, noticing my attire, and probably the a thousand and one love bites over me. "i sure do hope you used protection." my eyes go wide, as i quickly look at shawn, who's panicking as much as i am. "you didn't use protection?"
"well, i don't exactly remember," shawn mumbles, as andrew sighs loudly, and anxiousness fills me.
"i'm on the pill, don't worry," i say, letting shawn and andrew both breathe a sigh of relief. "speaking of, do you have any water? i need to take it."
"sure," andrew says, handing me a bottle of fresh water, as i quickly open up my bag, taking my pill out, and downing it with some water.
"so," andrew continues, sitting down opposite us, an unamused expression on his face. "care to explain?"
"all i remember is getting drunk with him, and then leaving the bar." i say, looking down at the glass table. "then i woke up, and saw the rings, and the papers, and i realised, shit, i'm married."
"shawn?"
"same thing," he answers, looking at me briefly, before turning his attention back to the table. "what do we do?"
"you'll get in annulled, when you're back in canada. you're gonna have to get it done there, so anya, you're gonna have to come to canada." andrew explains. "for the meantime, you guys will have to stay married-" andrew gets cut off by his laptop and phone pinging like crazy. he looks at them in confusion, before picking up his laptop, and typing a few things in.
"oh my god," he says in disbelief, his eyes going wide at the screen.
"what?" shawn asks, sitting up, and trying to look at the laptop himself.
"your sales have tripled, quadrupled even," andrew says, looking up at shawn. "your five stadium shows have completely sold out, and your merch store has crashed."
"what? how? i haven't done anything," shawn says, standing up, and looking at the laptop curiously. my phone begins to ring again, and i sigh, answering it.
"hello?" i answer, bored, and just wanting to get out of here.
"anya!" my manager squeals, as i clench my eyes shut, her high pitched voice not helping my hangover.
"lucy, what is it?" i ask, sighing softly. "i don't want to be yelled at for getting married."
"i'm not gonna yell at you, silly!" she giggles, making me furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "your requests are blowing up, victoria secret wants you as an angel for their show in toronto, and guess have emailed about a campaign. you're getting so much recognition, and vogue want you to do a few things too-"
"wait, vogue?"
"yeah, this marriage has gotten you so much press and recognition, well done!" she chirps, making me still sit in confusion.
"so?"
"i'm gonna contact shawns manager right now, and talk to him about maybe extending this marriage slightly longer than anticipated. the press you are getting is crazy, anya, this could really mean something for you," she says. "i have to go, but call me later, okay?" she hangs up without me leaving a response, and i sigh loudly, looking at andrew.
"whatever you do, do not answer your phone. my manager is about to call you about extending this marriage," i warn him, craving a divorce more than anything right now.
"actually, i might just agree with her on that," andrew says carefully.
"what?" shawn and i both yell, extremely worried about everything.
"shawn, you're getting so much attention, this is, this is great!" he chuckles, in amazement. "come on, you guys want to benefit your careers, right?" i shrug, looking at shawn, who's also shrugging. "this will further your careers even more. you don't have to love each other, just stay married for a year or so, and wow, you guys will get everything."
"everything? i don't want everything!" shawn bursts. "andrew, i have a girlfriend, and you know that!" my heart clenches, as i look away.
"well you're married now, so you have a wife," andrew points out, snorting with a laugh. "shawn come on, you have an album coming out in the next month, this will really benefit you."
"what about anya? what if she doesn't want to be married? what if she wants to get a boyfriend?"
"actually, i'm okay with not having one," i shrug, trying to not lie. "i mean, my past relationships haven't gone well, so what's the point of me jumping into a new one?" i know i've hit a nerve with shawn, as he looks at me guiltily.
"great! it's settled," andrew smiles, as his phone begins to ring. "go out for breakfast or something, i'll call the paps to follow you guys."
"i have no clothes though," i point out, as andrew shrugs, looking at shawn.
"give her a hoodie, walk outside. go." andrew says, making shawn and i sigh simultaneously.
i want to be as far away as i possibly can from him, i don't need any of my feelings reappearing.
-
"so adams your brother? when did you find out?" shawn asks me gently, as we walk into my hotel, so i can finally change and shower after the hectic night we've had.
"a year ago? my mom told me, and then i called him, he knew, obviously, and we invited him for christmas. since then i think that hole in my heart has been filled," i respond softly, clicking the elevator button.
"good, i'm glad," he says to me, making me smile lightly. "so, who am i gonna have to face when you open the door?"
"jasmine, don't worry, she'll probably be too hungover to care," i chuckle, the two of us getting into the elevator.
"i haven't spoken to any of them for ages, wow," he says, in disbelief, shaking his head. "did kelsey and peter have their baby?"
"yeah they did!" i say excitedly. "they had a little boy, his names matthew," i say, smiling. "he's a year and a half now? coming up to that."
"that's so sweet," he grins. "how's tommy? i've missed that little guy."
"he's good, he's seven now, which is completely insane, he talks so much, and you can literally hold a conversation about anything with him," i tell shawn, whilst the elevator opens, revealing my hotel room floor. "how's aaliyah?"
"she's great, she's 16 now, so that's crazy," he chuckles. "she misses you, i'm pretty sure she's glad that this happened," he jokes, pointing at his ring. "speaking of, i spent a lot on these rings," he chuckles, making me look at him in slight curiosity. "i got a text message from my bank this morning, i'm down by seventeen grand."
"seventeen grand?" i burst, looking at the two rings on my finger in shock. "no way!"
"apparently so," he chuckles, rubbing the back of his head.
"oh my god, shawn, i'll store you a cheque as soon as i get in-" i ramble, as shawn cuts me off with a chuckle.
"anya, don't worry, it's your wedding ring, i'm not gonna make you pay me back for it." he says with a chuckle, as i look down, my cheeks heating up slightly. how does he still have this effect on me? "plus seventeen grand is nothing to me, it's like seventeen dollars."
"alright rich kid," i chuckle, coming up to my hotel room door, and unlocking it, bracing myself for a yelling.
"three, two, one-" shawn gets cut off by jasmine shrieking, and running forward, slapping his cheek.
"jasmine! what the fuck is wrong with you?" i yell, looking at shawn, who's cradling a slapped cheek.
"how dare you think that you can go round, heading into the same club as us, and marrying your god damn ex?" she screams. "you broke her! how dare you even force her into this? i swear to god shawn, i'm surprises i haven't shot you yet! you're such-"
"jasmine! shut up!" i shout, slapping her arm. "shawn didn't force me into anything! we were both drunk, and being drunk pushes you to do stupid things!" i push her inside, as she sighs, folding her arms. "now apologise."
"sorry shawn," she mutters, before standing up, and embracing him. "missed you bud!"
"great way to show it, jasmine," shawn jokes, hugging her back. "how have you been? how's nate?"
"he's good, and i've been good, what about you?" she asks, pulling away from the hug.
"well, i'm married now, so i'm great," shawn says sarcastically, as i roll my eyes at him.
"yeah, what's happening about that? have you guys started getting the divorce?" jasmine asks, as i sigh, sitting down on my bed, shawn sitting next to me.
"our managers want us to stay married, for a year," shawn explains, as i look down at my lap, feeling embarrassed, and my cheeks flushing wildly. "i'm getting good press from it, and so is anya, so they want us to stay married for a year."
"and you guys are okay with that? you ended bitterly, how can you be-" i glare at her to shut up, and she sighs, biting her lip. "i mean, anya, your following has gone up by 2 million people on instagram."
"and shawns has gone up by what? 5?" i ask him, as he nods, leaning back on his hands. "i've been asked by victoria secret to be an angel in their toronto show. how? don't ask me. i thought you had to audition for those things."
"well, being my wife has its perks," shawn smirks, making me glare at him.
"this isn't some sort of joke, shawn, we're married, do you even know what that means? we're married." i say to him, getting angry.
"calm down, it's not like we're dating, or romantically involved. it just means you can't be involved with anyone until this year is over." he shrugs, making me let out an angry breath.
"what about your girlfriend then?" i shoot back at him, as he sighs, looking down.
"uh, she broke up with me, via text," my eyes go wide, and he lets out a sad chuckle. "yeah, i got the text at breakfast. i didn't want to react because the paps were basically right next to us, so i didn't."
"shawn, i'm so sorry," i say gently to him, as he shakes his head, looking up at me.
"don't worry about it, we were heading towards breaking up, and i'm kind of glad we did. she lives in australia, so it wasn't gonna work out." he sighs gently, and i see the hurt over his face, before he smiles, looking at me. "now go get your ass dressed, your managers flying out to talk to us."
"fine," i groan, standing up, and walking to my suitcase, where i take out a pair of jeans and a porcelain blue button up shirt. i then sigh, standing up, and looking around the hotel room. "there aren't any spoons in here, are there?"
"yeah there are, on the coffee tray," jasmine tells me, scrolling through her phone. i nod, walking to the coffee tray, and taking two spoons, before i walk back to shawn.
"shirt off, mendes," i tell him, the hickeys i gave him poking through the collar.
"what? why?" he asks, confused, and his cheeks slightly red.
"do you want to get rid of those hickeys?" i ask, placing my hands on my hips. he sighs, nodding, before slipping off his white t-shirt, revealing his very well built torso, which i try to avoid staring at.
"move," i groan, pushing his legs apart, so i can reach his chest.
"gladly," he smirks, as i whack his arm, before i stand in between his legs, holding one of the spoons.
"this may hurt," i say, before pressing down hard with the spoon, on one of the red blotches, trying to get it to fade.
"ouch! what the fuck anya?" he says, flinching and moving away from me.
"man up you shithead!" i say, slapping his arm, as he scoffs at me. "you literally just got slapped in the face, and you didn't even flinch, so man the fuck up, and let me get rid of these."
"jasmine didn't hurt," shawn shrugs, making me roll my eyes.
"shut the fuck up!" jasmine groans, hitting shawn in the head with a pillow. i laugh, before reaching forward, and squeezing the spoon down onto another hickey, letting the redness die down.
"there we go," i finally sigh, standing up, and looking at shawns chest. "mostly gone, happy now?"
"very," he says sarcastically, as i scoff, rolling my eyes, before i take his hoodie off, revealing my own exposed collar bone and neck, which is covered in love bites. "oh my god," shawn gasps, his cheeks flushed red. "sorry."
"don't worry," i chuckle, squeezing the spoon onto my own, shrinking them down. "anyway, i'm gonna go change."
i head into the bathroom, changing as fast as i can, before starting to fix my appearance.
"-does her mom know?" i hear shawn say, as jasmine lets out a sigh.
"she's called me about it, i said i didn't know, and that she was probably with you, which she was," jasmine explains. "her mom wasn't too worried about her being with you, it's just the fact that you got married, after being broken up for two years."
"it was two years the other day," shawn says softly, as i put down my highlighter brush, listening to the conversation. "god, i fucked up."
"you still love her?"
"how can i not? i fell in love with her more than anyone could ever imagine." he says. "she doesn't deserve any of this, and i know she's only agreeing because it's going to benefit our careers. i just wish i could take back the marriage." my heart leaps, as i feel it race, and my cheeks flush incredibly red, standing out of my base of makeup.
"you fucked up, bad," jasmine says, as a i hold in a laugh. "and i mean two years ago, you fucked up, bad."
"i know," he mutters, as i sink my teeth into my lower lip.
"she was fucking broken, and when i say broken, i mean worse than she was after dan, and nathan combined." jasmine says.
"what?" shawn mumbles, shock evident in his voice.
"believe it," she says. "you were the first guy who ever took an interest in her, and the first guy who treated her well." she lets out a sigh. "after you yelled at her, for absolutely nothing, may i add, she was heartbroken. and implying that you regretted falling in love with her? that's just another level of mean."
"we all say things in anger that we don't mean," shawn says, trying to stick up for himself.
"this new girlfriend of yours, did you ever say you loved her?"
"never," shawn answers quickly. "i met her in australia, in 2016. we hooked up then, when i thought i was never, ever going to get anya. when i went back to australia after anya and i broke up, i bumped into sydney again, coincidentally, in sydney. i hooked up with her again, and after that we kept in contact, and informally began dating. only our families and close friends knew, we didn't want it getting out, but i never felt anything as heavily as i did with anya."
"so why did you end things, you piece of shit?"
"she wanted to," he sighs. "she said this was goodbye, and i don't blame her. the stuff i said to her, wow, i don't know how i can still tolerate myself."
"do you feel comfortable, knowing that you're now married to her?"
"i'm not saying it's a bad thing," he begins, making me smile gently. "but i wish it was in a different way, i wish we still shared the feelings we did. i mean, the way we are, it's like i've married an acquaintance." he lets out another sigh, before laughing slightly. "i'm sure anya's told you about my dream, but in it, she proposed to me, and i said no, thinking i got the girlfriend that i cheated on with anya pregnant. when i knew i hadn't, i raced at the chance of proposing to anya again. ever since i was younger, i always wanted to marry a person who i was truly in love with, so i didn't have to bother with divorces and troubles, but now i do, and it's confusing. i mean, i'm married, that's crazy."
"if you really want to make things work again," jasmine begins. "you win her heart, and i'm sure it will go back to the way it was, and hey, maybe you'll stay married."
"maybe," shawn repeats, as i take a small breath in. "i hope so."
"well then win her heart over again. show her that you won't hurt her, she's been hurt way too many times to even comprehend, and i don't want to see her crying over a boy ever again."
