RIPPED SOULS
Yelena glanced at the redhead and archer with curiosity as to why they made the events of budapest such a big deal? The supernatural group and gotham crew were filled with curiosity as it is the first they are hearing about it and from the reaction of the avengers they could tell it was a much anticipated topic. Katherine bites the inside of her cheek as she glances at them. "What exactly is the budapest thing?"
"Well, it's a mission that me and Natasha did a while back," replies the archer with a smug smile as the avengers groan expecting a full answer. Wanda rolled her eyes as she thought Clint was actually going to give them a full explanation. Katherine let out a slow nod yet her question was not answered. Stefan raised a brow, "So, it was just a mission?"
The archer and redhead assassin nodded which caused the other avengers to roll their eyes. Both Yelena and Harley are confused why they make big deal especially, since all will eventually find out. Steve glanced at the brown-haired boy, "They are not going in full detail. The thing is everytime there is a mission as a group they always bring it up and we want to know what happened in budapest."
Natasha rolled her eyes as her teammates all pouted while the supernatural and gotham crew stared at them in amusement. Is funny how they don't know each other at all but they all had one thing in common; curiosity. Clint stuck his tongue out at his teammates, "Well, I guess we will never know."
Wanda rolled her eyes as she mimicked him with her voice pitch high, "I guess we will never know."
That caused everyone in the room to laugh as Clint looked so offended as he wondered if he actually sounded like that. Yelena leans over the ex-shield agent spoke to redhead which caused Sharon to snort in amusement. "Your team is full of babies."
"Trust me, I know. I still wonder how we even save the world sometimes." Natasha lets out an exhausted sign. Harley lets out a giggle as she turns over leaning over her seat as behind her Bruce holds her shirt so she doesn't fall. "You, do most of the work don't you?"
Natasha let out a small chuckle. Sisters begin to whisper very low that not even the vampires in the room can catch it. Bucky had a teasing smile, "Will we know what you are all laughing about?"
"Thanks B," murmurs Harley not realizing if he was not gripping her shirt she would have fumbled over the chair and that would have been embarrassing. The redhead assassin and the russian blonde looked at Harley as she settled back on her seat. The ex-jester shrugged, "I guess we will never know."
That comment made everyone in the room bark out of laughter. Clint sat quietly pretending to be pissed off but if anyone paid attention, all would notice the small smile on him.
"Ah, right." Caroline glances at Natasha. Yelena went to the kitchen, grabbed three glass shots, and poured them all a drink. Caroline and Natasha accept the drink and pour it down their throats. Natasha took out the red vials and slammed against the table. "If you didn't think I'd come here, why'd you send me this?"
Yelena stared at her in disbelief as her eyes drift between the vials and her. "You brought it back here?"
The three sisters can not believe that those little red vials were the key to stopping mind control. A simple red liquid that had been the key to freedom, and reality of their lives. Everyone looked between the vials and the sisters. Ivy raised the question that everyone was thinking. "What is that?"
Harely shrugged as she had no idea had to explain it, in a way that made sense. Yelena leaned against her seat as she spoke for her sisters. "It's hard to explain but later on, you will get the explanation of the vials."
That seemed to satisfy everyone in the entire room since for once it was not 'mine you own business' or just a dreading silence. It was progress. They were all getting ready for the next scene until Tony looked at them in curiosity, "So, you three won't mention at all how you choked and threw each other across the room?"
"Nah," murmurs the ex-jester as the redhead simply shrugged. Yelena turned to him, "It makes it worse if we talk about it so we just avoid the topic at all cost."
Everyone who had siblings nodded at that. Thor faced Tony as he spared Loki a quick glance. "Yes, lady Yelena is correct. One time I comforted Loki about something that happened and he pretended to be a snake that stabbed me."
"He could turn into a snake, so cool," murmurs MJ under her breath. As the other looked at Thor in either amusement or concern. The god of mischief rolled his eyes, "To be fair, you were annoying me."
Rhodey glanced at everyone who had siblings, "Does anyone with siblings fix their problems the normal way?"
The mikaelson family exchanged knowing glances before collectively rolling their eyes in unison. Despite each member grappling with their own unique set of challenges, they rarely confronted them head-on, often resorting to either distancing themselves from one another or facing the wrath of Klaus's dagger.
Kol, mischief-maker, brewed trouble with his every step, Rebekah fills the atmosphere with her snide remarks, Klaus exhibits a complete lack of patience, erupting in violence, while Freya and Elijah typically embody the role of peacemakers, cleaning up the aftermath of their siblings' chaotic mess.
The salvatore brothers avoided each other's looks as they tried everything to make each other's lives worse—particularly Damon, who seemed to excel in that more than Stefan. Let's not forget their penchant for falling for the same woman not once, but twice.
Elena thought about her brother, both hovered on the edge of normalcy. Despite their efforts to assist one another, a barrier persisted between them. Wanda had a soft tender look on her as she remembered her twin brother. They fought, made side comments of one another, always made fun of each other, yet when push came to shove, they unfailingly had each other's backs.
Sam's smile radiates warmth as he reflects on his bond with his stubborn older sister, a relationship characterized by bickering yet unwavering love. Bucky's mind wandered back to his dear sister, Rebecca, a wistful sigh escaping him as he struggled against the weight of sorrow, clinging desperately to the flickers of joy in shared memories.
The three sisters; Natasha, Harley, and Yelena all had smiles on their faces, they fought a lot sure but they haven't seen each other for a long time so it explains the dull moments.
Thor and Loki were complicated as it comes as they don't usually show much love or affection for one another but deep down they cared for each other as at the end of the day they were brothers. The silence was so loud as Bonnie glanced at the room, "So, no normal interactions then?"
"I think the silence gives you the answer," spoke out Happy with annoyance as how did no one in the room use their common sense? All let out an amused chuckle as they looked back to the screen.
Natasha shakes her head in frustration, "I'm not here trying to be your friend, but you need to tell me what that is."
Yelena signed and started to explain, "It's a synthetic gas. The counteragent to chemical subjugation. The gas immunizes the brain's neural pathways from external manipulation."
Caroline kept quiet observing her two sisters. Natasha scoffs in annoyance, "Maybe english next time?"
"это противоядие, которое контролирует умы." (it's an antidote that control minds)
Natasha went to Yelena's room, looking for clothes, but Yelena scoffs as she stuffs certain things in bag. "Why don't you take it to one of your super-scientist friends? They can explain it to you. Tony Stark, maybe?"
Tony and Bruce (banner) are the ones with the most experience and knowledge when it comes to those types of things. Both wondering how that developed, Peter and Ned exchange glances as their love for science is huge but they mostly focus in the physics area. Clint glanced at everyone, "How does that even work?"
"Sounds like compulsion." Kol states as he looks at his siblings who agreed with him. Klaus remembers something earlier about the mention of the widows being sedated? Rebekah caught on as she mouthed, "I don't think it is compulsion."
Natasha shrugged as she looked at the science bros, "Guys?"
Tony tilted his head as he tried to explain in simple terms. "Well there has to be some form of mind manipulation such as psychological conditioning or brainwashing before the chemical control begins. Assuming the antinode begins as the chemical imbalance in the brain occurs when the brain has either too many or too few chemical transmitters. Since we saw you as young girls, it would have been easier since the brain is still developing."
The silence was defined as a sudden chill creek upon everyone's spine. Elijah gazed at Tony as he shook off that disturbing feeling. "Are they fully conscious?"
The three sisters winced at that which was not noticed by anyone since their gaze was on the infamous iron man. Tony glanced at Bruce (banner) who shook his head to Elijah's question, "It would depend on how they do it."
Yelena glances at the noblest mikaelson, "For every widow it might be different, but for the certain team I was in, every widow was fully conscious but had no choices."
No one said anything, because what are they supposed to say? A bunch of apologies won't help, plus they could tell the youngest blonde will not like to be pitied. Rebekah tried not to look at them differently because it will make things worse, "What about you, two?"
Natasha's head gently shook, a subtle gesture mirroring a past exchange with Harley and Yelena, a conversation likely to be unveiled in due time. With a resigned exhale, the former jester addressed Rebekah, "We talk it about, surely it will be shown."
Rebekah nodded in understanding, meeting Harley's tender smile with her own. Amidst the chaos, a flicker of possibility ignited within her, envisioning a realm where their paths intertwined as friends, perhaps even in the present. Shaking off her thoughts, Rebekah and others glance back at the screen.
"Oh, yeah. We're not really talking right now, so..." Natasha sighs as her eyes show how tired of everyone bringing up the avengers. Caroline ran out of patience. "Okay can someone explain what the hell is going on?"
"Well, I kept checking the news, expecting to see captain america bringing down the red room." Yelena stated bitterly.
Natasha stared at her in disbelief. Glancing at Caroline who had her eyes shut. Caroline opened her eyes and saw the disbelief in Natasha's eyes. Natasha shakes her head, "What? Taking down the red room? What are you talking about? It's been gone for years. Dreykov is dead. I killed him."
"Natasha?" Ther archer questioned noticing how the redhead had her head down. No answer. The avengers, gotham crew, and the supernatural group glance at each other with worried looks. Steve does his best to get the three sisters' attention, "Is Dreykov the old man shown earlier?"
The three sisters nodded in unison. Clint shook his head in complete shock, "How is he alive, Nat?"
"What do you mean?" Klaus swiftly pivoted to confront Clint, drawing the attention of the entire room, each member sharing in the collective curiosity. Clint, exhaling a tremulous sigh, acknowledged the weight of the moment before uttering, "The budapest mission was intended to eliminate Dreykov. Yet, it appears he is alive."
The redhead's thoughts fixated on the fact of her sister's encounter with Anya prior to their reunion yet Harley stayed silent. Natasha, pushing aside her swirling emotions, released a frustrated exhale. "Just watch."
With shaky breath, everyone but the three sisters reclined, preparing for yet another tumultuous journey of emotions alongside these remarkable women. Who could fault them, it was understandable, given the relentless struggles that had dictated their lives, leaving them with little control over their own destinies.
Yelena scoffed, glancing at her, "You don't actually believe that, do you?"
"You really do believe that." Yelena scoffs, shaking her head. Caroline sighs as she rubs her temples in frustration, "How is this possible if Natasha killed him?"
"That is not possible. He is dead. It took almost destroying the entire city just to get to him." Natasha shook her head. Yelena scoffed as she let out a chuckle out of frustration. "If you're so sure, then tell me what happened. Tell me exactly."
Natasha hesitated but responded to her. "We rigged bombs."
"Who's we?" Caroline raised her brows as she questioned her. Natasha lowers her gaze as she murmurs, "Clint Barton. Killing Dreykov was the final step in my defection to S.H.I.E.L.D."
Yelena took a deep breath, "Simple as that?"
Natasha scoffed, "Yeah, sure, 'simple.' That's what I'd call imploding a five-story building and then shooting it out with the Hungarian Special Forces. Took 10 days in hiding before we could even get out of Budapest."
The avengers cast sidelong glances at both Natasha and Clint, yet the duo remained steadfastly still. Sam, with a weary exhale, interjected, "Let's just continue."
A unanimous murmur of consent rippled through the group as they collectively brushed aside the unsettling sensation that had begun to cut in the room. Amidst the tension, the chaotic blonde's thoughts wandered elsewhere, her focus drifting from the screen to the idle task of fiddling with her shoelaces.
"Bats?" Whispered the blonde to gotham's billionaire who turned with raised brow. "Who would win in a fight, the justice league or the avengers?"
"I mean we have superman," starts off Bruce with a slight pensive look. He turns to see the avengers then faces the blonde. "But then again, they do have Wanda and the god of thunder. Why do you ask?"
"No reason," replies the ex-jester too fast as he lets out soft 'uh huh.' Truth is her and Happy have bet about the two teams and she has her money on the justice league and it has no reason because he (bruce aka batman) is part of it.
Or maybe it is but she does not want to delve into her feelings for batman of all people. Because how the fuck did she let that happened?
Caroline sighs, shaking her thoughts she eyed Natasha, "And you checked the body? Confirmed the kill?"
"There was no body left to check," Natasha closed her eyes.
A bitter chuckle escaped Natasha's lips, punctuating the tension in the room. A collective wince rippled through the room, yet none truly comprehend the depth of Natasha's emotions. The revelation that the man who had shattered her life still ruining innocent lives, with her own sisters ensnared in his grasp, inflicted a burning agony upon her soul.
Yelena, sensing her sister's turmoil, tenderly placed a hand atop Natasha's, offering a silent solace that spoke volumes. Natasha returns the gesture with a grateful smile, finding solace in their shared bond amidst the chaos. Soft smiles exchanged among the sisters betrayed the profound understanding they shared, a silent pact of solidarity.
Harley, their beacon of strength, addressed the others with a gentle plea. "Don't ask anything."
She hoped to urge them from prying further. The weight of unspoken truths hung heavy in the air, their concealed realities now laid bare for all to witness. Chuck glances at his girlfriend as he whispers, "Never seen her like this before, not even with the Joker."
"She's been through alot," murmurs Ivy to her boyfriend. As they returned their attention to the screen, each member of the gathering nodded in solemn agreement. At that moment, the sisters sat united, their secrets laid bare for all to see, their lives laid bare upon the screen for scrutiny and judgment.
Yelena scoffs, shaking her anger away. She took deep breaths in and out. "You're forgetting Dreykov's daughter."
A heavy silence descended upon the room, punctuated only by the audible wince shared among the three sisters. Everyone, save for Clint and the sisters themselves, was consumed by the same troubling question: had Natasha truly taken the life of a child?
Tony's raised brow bespoke his inquiry, "Natasha?"
No response. The palpable judgment radiating from the others bore down upon the trio like an oppressive wave. Rhodey, breaking the uneasy stillness, cleared his throat, his query hanging in the air, "Natasha, is the child... gone?"
The absence of any reply only intensified the discomfort, leaving the room fraught with tension. It took a moment for the weight of the situation to sink in before the collective frustration erupted, directed squarely at the redhead.
Though Sam grappled with disbelief, he chose silence, recognizing the weight of the decisions Natasha had been forced to make in the line of duty. Steve's gentle shake of the head mirrored the disbelief etched across his features, "Nat?"
Echoing the sentiments of Elena, Bonnie, and Rebekah, the unspoken question hung heavy in the air: "How could you take the life of a child?"
"You all should not judge without knowing the full story." Sharon glared at them, in which they returned back. Yet, amidst the accusatory stares, the archer interjected with a heavy sigh, his voice lace with remorse, "Nat, doesn't bear all the blame alone. I was part of that mission."
As all eyes turned to Clint, he averted their gaze, his confession hanging heavily in the air. "She was collateral damage," he added, a somber acknowledgment of the harsh realities of their world.
"She was a child." Bruce (banner) glanced at him in a surprised tone as all the avengers nodded in agreement.
The bickering continued until MJ stood up and yelled across the entire room. "Says the same people that have the audacity to judge others, when your life is a complete mess. And don't forget you all being 'heroes' include having collateral damage that also include children. That's why you are all losers. You are all blinded by your own righteousness."
"She is right," murmurs Peter as he first-hand seen the damage the heroes cause (including him) but at least in his hands he is careful and doesn't leave anyone behind. They are all too focused on eliminating targets and forget about the innocents around them.
"We are forever their apologists." Ned mumbles under his breath. MJ and Peter both agreed, Happy snickered under his breath. "Real."
Harley stared at the supernatural group with a hostile expression on her. "Let's not act like we haven't done bad things. The world's oldest family feared because you shed innocent blood, my dear old friends you almost committed genocide and have killed many for your own benefit. Let's not forget sometimes humanity gets turned off, you all go crazy or the fact you all torment for fun. The list goes on and on."
The originals, the mystic falls gang, and Katherine all looked down in shame as they all knew her words spoke nothing but the truth. They were all hypocrites; especially coming from the vampires as they needed the blood to survive. And no one will blame them for that as they need it to survive but that does not give them the right to act as if they never did anything wrong.
The ex-jester then turned to so-called heroes. "You all leave collateral damage all the time. But if you don't want to see that then let's not forget one of you volunteers for hydra, one of you committed multiple mass murders, exposing innocent agents lives, working for the military which exposes a lot of the propaganda but that is conversation for another day. Tear apart multiple cities; your list goes on and on as well."
The avengers all winced knowing that they all do not have a perfect track record. But the blonde girl was not done as she eyed all of them. "We all have blood in our hands so stop acting like you are all perfect little angels."
"Glad she didn't say anything about us," snorted Ivy as Chuck and gotham's billionaire nodded as they watch Harley called them all out. Sharon knows the story a bit as Yelena would tell her pieces of it. "Spoiler alert, she is alive."
Yelena was in the midst of resettling herself when she erupted with a voice that commanded the attention of all of them. "If I hear a single comment about this, I don't care if you all are powerful, I will kill you all."
A collective nod rippled through the room in acknowledgment of the sarcastic blonde threat knowing that she would carry that out. With a shared sense of gravity, they collectively turned their focus back to the screen, burdened by the weight of their own guilt.
Before Natasha or Caroline could reply an explosion cut them off as the roof came down. Yelena quickly grabs the vials as her and Caroline run to the next room, were they both see the roof collapse. They quickly go to the other side of the doorway.
Natasha tries to run to her two sisters who were both pressed against the wall as red laser lights are shown in the living room. A door is kicked open as the widows invade the apartment. Yelena's gasps and leans back again; she then shoves the vials in her bag.
Caroline signals Yelena to go to Natasha. Yelena nods as she runs to Natasha as both walk slowly while staying close to the wall. Caroline has her back pressed against the wall where she sees two widows drop from a hole in the ceiling; their laser lights scanning. Caroline glances at Natasha and Yelena who are hiding next to a doorway while the red lights go past her.
Caroline then starts running and the widow's shoot at her, missing all the shots. Natasha walks out and grabs Caroline, shoving her into the wall where Caroline lets out a grunt of surprise and pain.
A collective wince swept through the room, each one bearing witness to her palpable pain. Tony's gaze shifted to the trio of sisters, a mixture of concern and urgency coloring his tone, "Please, assure me you three managed to escape?"
"Well, considering we're all present and breathing, I'd say yes." Yelena responded with a nonchalant shrug, her demeanor betraying a hint of humor. Tony's narrowed gaze met her casual response with skepticism, his retort dripping with unease. "That's hardly reassuring."
Yelena playfully stuck out her tongue in response. Bonnie, turning her attention to the sisters, sought answers amidst the confusion, "How did they discover you were all there?"
The sisters exchanged glances, their silence revealing a realization they hadn't previously considered. Klaus, his jaw set with grim understanding, addressed them with a chilling revelation, "Assuming you don't know that means you were all being followed?"
The implications weighed heavily upon the minds of all present, prompting Loki to inquire further, "But, when did this surveillance begin?"
As the avengers contemplated this unsettling revelation, Rebekah's eyes swirl with confusion, "What do you mean?"
Loki turned to the blonde original, "As to where did it begin with Natasha in norway, Harley in gotham, or Yelena in budapest. Or maybe they had eyes on them way before that."
The ex-jester felt glad that the god of mischief did not make a big deal about her name. Bruce's mind was racing as despite his razor-sharp detective mind, she had eluded his grasp, leaving him both fascinated and frustrated. As he gazed upon her, his voice barely above a whisper, betraying a vulnerability he rarely displayed. "Why did you never ask for help?"
Harley softened at his words, her demeanor shifting to something softer, more vulnerable. With a casual shrug, "I don't know, bats. It just didn't feel right or maybe I just don't have you on speed dial."
His lips quirked into a wry smile at her response, acknowledging the unpredictability of their dynamic. "That's fair, considering your... unique ways of contacting me," he conceded, his tone laced with a hint of amusement.
She returned his grin, a playful glint dancing in her eyes, their connection transcending the boundaries of their opposing roles.
Yelena reaches her arm out and twists a dial, one by one, a few lights blow up. Natasha and Caroline immediately hit the widow's knees as Yelena grabs their guns out of their hands and pushes them back. They immediately ran out of the apartment. But outside two other widows were shooting at them.
Caroline glanced at Yelena as her breath hitched, "Where are we trying to get?"
"Motorbike! East side of the building," Yelena responded as her breath was becoming heavy. The three girls quickly ran up the stairs, a one of the widows was chasing them. Exiting the room, leaving the girls on a rooftop.
Tony placed a hand over his heart, a gesture tinged with playful exasperation. "The three of you are bound to give someone high blood pressure," he remarked, a hint of amusement.
Everyone nodded in agreement, their expressions a blend of concern and amusement. But to the most responsible members of the team, witnessing the reckless behavior of the trio stirred emotions within them. Natasha turned to Tony with a sly grin, "Says the man who revealed his home address on live television."
The avengers erupted into laughter at Tony's flustered expression, reveling in the rare moment of lighthearted banter. Bonnie, turning her attention to the billionaire hero, her green eyes swirl in disbelief. "Why on earth would you do such a thing?"
Before Tony could muster a response, Rhodey interjected with a knowing smirk, seizing the opportunity to tease his friend. "Because he is dumb," he declared with mock seriousness, eliciting another round of laughter from the group.
Tony let out a little hey. Thor turned to the bennett witch, "The man of iron is very smart when it comes to technology and science but not too much on other stuff."
"Damn pointbreak," murmurs Tony yet he had a smile full of warmth on him. That caused all the heroes to burst out of laughter while the supernatural group stared at them in amusement. They all calmed down as the screen brightened up.
The three girls slid down the roof, arriving at the end of the roof. The girls immediately hang on to a metal pole that looks like a small water tank. Yelena was in center back, Caroline and Natasha were each placed on the side of it as they both tried to undo the bar, making them tilt to the other side.
But the widow did not give up as it hung on to Natasha's hand. The widow started to slip, Caroline grabbed her hand so she wouldn't fall, "Hey, is okay. I got you."
Everyone leaned in anticipation seeing the girls in such a tough position. Happy winced, "I'm backing up Tony's statement. I don't get paid enough for this."
"We've been over this, Happy. You don't get paid at all." MJ's lips curved into a teasing smile as she met Happy's glare. Stefan glanced at the sisters, "Was there no other way out of that?"
The three sisters shrugged as Natasha answered the brown haired boy, "There probably was, but not much thinking goes on when you have guns pointed at you."
Kol lifted his hand, his attention remained fixed on the three sisters, who were oblivious to his silent query. He did feel dumb raising his hand as if he were a student. "Is there someone ordering them to get you all held captive or just to kill you, all."
The sisters winced knowing Dreykov's plan was to kidnap them and gain control of them again. Yelena peaked up from her seat as she turned her body to face him; "At that moment it was unclear but we figured it was to capture us."
Everyone in the room looked at the blonde dumbfounded as she said it so carefree. Wanda eyed the girl as she could not help but feel sad as her big eyes were filled with sorrow. "To do what?"
The ex-jester mumbles under breath but loud enough for the whole room to hear her. "You know, to control our lives again."
A heavy silence enveloped the room, casting a solemn emotion over them. In the middle of this tense atmosphere, Harley's voice, soft and tentative, as she whispered, her words a delicate plea tinged with longing. "Batsy, you never answer my question... can I visit the bat cave?"
Bruce's lips curved into a subtle smile, a glimmer of amusement dancing in his eyes as he looked at her. "Maybe," he replied, his tone infused with a hint of playfulness, leaving the possibility open to interpretation. She leans over smiling, "I'm taking that as yes."
"Didn't say that."
"But you implied it."
The widow grabbed a knife trying to stab Caroline and Natasha, their hands were slipping off making the widow fall to the ground. Yelena stumbled to a window leaving Caroline and Natasha falling down, hitting metal vents. Both girls hit the vents in great impact, as both girls landed in a pose.
Both slowly walked towards the widow. Natasha shook her hand reassuring that her and Caroline did not mean any harm. "Hey. Don't move. You're hurt."
"Let us help you." Caroline stuck her hand out, her eyes softened. The widow turned on her widow bites. The widow looked back at the girls who were trying to help her, tears in her eyes; "I don't wanna do this."
Caroline and Natasha's eyes widened as the widow turned on her widow bite. Confused expressions written on both as widow was not pointing to them but to herself. Caroline glanced at the widow in confusion, "What are you doing?"
"He's making me." With that the widow pointed the widow bite to herself, shocking her which instantly killed her. Yelena came down and saw her sisters over the dead widow. Yelena walked towards her sisters, "Do you believe me now?"
A cloud of guilt and pity settled over the room, the atmosphere with an unspoken weight of silence. The sisters, burdened by remorse, their failure to recognize the signs of stopping the widow's tragic end.
Everyone grappled with intense sense of sympathy, realizing that in the fleeting moment before her final act, the widow had broken free from the shackles of mind control. Yet, in that clear moment, she was painfully conscious of her cruel fate and the pain she inflicted upon herself.
As the somber silence lingered, Sam's measured voice cut through the melancholy. "Let us just continue," he urged, his words a gentle prompt to navigate away from the depths of despair. With heavy hearts, they turned their attention back to the screen.
Both Natasha and Caroline shook their heads in disbelief. Natasha sighs as her eyes fall on Yelena, "How many others?"
"Enough," answered Yelena as she put the red vial back with the rest. With that the girls ran to the east side to find Yelena's motor bike. They saw the bikes as Natasha turned to Yelena, "Which one's yours?"
"Black. Brown seat. Where are my keys?" Yelena was confused; she patted herself. She looks up at Natasha who smirks as she tossed the keys in the air and caught them. Yelena looked at her, "сука" (bitch)
Caroline rolled her eyes at them as she glanced around the street to see if anyone was coming their way. Natasha shook her head, "Any day now."
Rebekah eyed the three sisters, "You, three are moments away from getting killed and you are all taking your sweet time."
The sisters shrugged as that is normal behavior for them. Elena let out a teasing smile, "I don't think you are in place to judge when it is worse for the five of you."
The mikaelson siblings did not respond as they knew it was true. Harley caught Elena's gaze as she gave an appreciative smile for getting the attention off of them as Elena returned the smile. They both turned as the screen brightened up for the next part to be played.
Natasha got on the bike as Caroline did the same but Yelena was still standing. The two sisters raised their eyebrows at her, as Yelena complained to them, "Why do I have to go to the back?"
Bucky offered a subtle nod in agreement with Yelena's assertion, acknowledging her point with a knowing glance. "I mean, she is not wrong."
Yelena turned towards him, a hint of gratitude softening her features. "Thank you," she murmured, before playfully sticking her tongue out at her sisters, eliciting a cheeky response from Harley in the form of a raised middle finger.
Natasha swiftly intervened, delivering a swift reprimand with a firm smack to their heads. "Behave," she stated, her tone allowing no room for an argument. Harley and Yelena extended their hands, their voices pitched comically high as they echoed Natasha's command, "Behave."
Under Natasha's stern gaze, the two sisters relented, offering a muttered apology before turning their attention back to the screen. Despite their bickering, there existed an unspoken bond of respect and warmth towards Natasha, the eldest and protector of the trio.
Amusement danced across the faces of those in the room, including gotham's crew and the other members of the supernatural group, who remained shock at Harley's long-kept secret regarding her sisters.
Caroline let out a small mumble, "Oh my god."
Natasha did not have time for this, "Are you serious right now?"
Yelena crossed her arms as she glared at both of them,"Yes I am. A bike is meant for two people so me being in the back means I am mostly likely to die."
Bucky and Sam rose to her defense, their voices resonating with conviction. "She has a point," they declared in unison, their eyes meeting in a silent exchange of solidarity. Throughout the room, heads nodded in agreement, recognizing the position Yelena had been forced into.
Yet, amidst the collective acknowledgment, a heavy silence lingered, haunted by the knowledge that these events had already unfolded once before. Natasha and Harley exchanged knowing glances, their eyes rolling in unison as the screen flickered to life once more.
Caroline rolled her eyes as she gestured her hands for Yelena to get on, "Get on bike Lena."
Yelena got on the bike but she sat on Caroline's lap. Before Natasha could get out of there a giant tank appears out of nowhere. Natasha started the bike and accelerated trying to get them out of there.
Sam and Bucky could not help but let out a bark of laughter, which caused everyone in the room to stare at them in confusion. Steve eyed his two friends, "What is funny?"
"The fact that the universe is really not on their side." Sam did his best to answer him, while the ex-winter soldier wheezed out; "You know because you three took the power of family very seriously."
Puzzled silence enveloped the room, the two men persisted in their laughter, seemingly finding amusement where others did not get it. Yelena, erupted into a sudden burst of laughter, her amusement not from their reference, but from a memory of her older sisters showing her the movies, the origins of that very joke.
Eyes darted between Yelena, Bucky, and Sam, each individual silently questioning the source of humor. Though the confusion lingered, no one dared to interrupt. In the middle of their shared history of darkness, this unexpected moment offered a brief moments of peace and happiness.
"I'll never understand mortal's humor." Thor shook his head. The vampires and super soldier let out a slight snicker at Thor's confusion. Loki nodded his head in agreement, "Agreed brother."
Natasha rides the bike down the alley with the tank right on their tail. Natasha makes a sharp left turn when a widow on a bike begins to chase them down. Yelena held onto Caroline as tight as she could, "Oh, great now I am mostly likely to die now."
Caroline had her hands placed on the side holding on to the bike, "Seriously Lena! Not the moment."
Yelena scoffed at her while holding tightly on her. Natasha tried to escape the tank that was chasing them but they escaped for a moment until a widow on two motorbikes came chasing them down. Caroline had her eyes shut, "Great more people."
"You all really have the worst luck," chuckles Sam as Bucky agrees with him. Harley and Yelena nodded at them while Natasha raised her brow at them two. She had a small playful smirk on her, "Says the two men who got beat by spider-man."
A faint flush tinted the cheeks of the two men, their embarrassment apparent as laughter erupted among the avengers. Tony and Harley shared a moment of pride in Peter's accomplishments, while MJ and Ned struggled to stifle their amusement, as both throwing him compliments in hush tones. Peter's cheek flush red, "Thanks guys."
Meanwhile, Happy's chuckle echoed through the room as he leaned in to whisper, "They're going to go crazy when they find out they were beat by a 14-year-old boy."
"It's going to be epic, I get to draw more people in crisis." MJ's smile widened as she murmured with anticipation. Bruce (banner) shook his head in mild disbelief, voicing his own astonishment, "I can't believe that we have a new hero and, I've have not met them."
Wanda tilted her head as she faced him, "Technically there are also two more new heroes you have not met."
Thor gleamed in excitement, "Who are these new heroes my friends?"
Steve faced Thor as he had a small smile on his face as he remembered when he first met Scott, "There is ant-man."
Stefan eyed the heroes, "What is his power?"
The avengers minus Bruce, Thor, and Loki look at him in confusion as they are trying to gather the correct words to describe his powers. Rhodey faced Stefan, "He has the ability to shrink and get big."
The supernatural creatures had an puzzled look on them. Stefan nodded at him as he had many questions but did not say anything. Kol glanced at the heroes, "Which is the other hero?"
Wanda faced him as she thought he was cute but shook those thoughts off. "Black panther. He is the king of Wakanda, I am not too sure about his power but his suit is made out of vibranium."
The wildest original brother nodded at her as he was really fascinated with her red magic when they first arrived. While the others were confused on what vibranium is. Elijah glanced at the room, "Should we continue?"
Bucky shook his head as he and Sam had had been having their own thoughts about how spider-man is problem for them. "You are right, birman, spider-boy is our enemy here."
"I'm telling you" exclaimed Sam. Steve shook his head as he was dealing with two literal children. The three teens overheard them as MJ looked at her boyfriend. "Is game on with them, losers."
"What do you have planned, Em?" Peter asked his girlfriend who in returned gave him a sheepish smile. Ned whispers, "Even though we are on the same side, I feel scared for them."
The three girls did their best to duck as the widow were shooting at them. Natasha drove past a bus, hitting the wall causing the three girls to fly out and roll on top of a car. They all stood up as a guy came out, "jól vagy" (are you okay?)
Yelena pointed her gun at him gesturing him to give them the car. "fantasztikus" (fantastic)
Caroline crawled in the car while Natasha scolded Yelena, "You can't just steal a guy's car."
"Okay not the moment." Caroline rolled her eyes in annoyance. Yelena just rolled her eyes, "First of all she here has a point. Second of all, you want me to chase him down and un-steal it?"
Steve, being the most righteous and one with the most moral, gave the sisters a pointed look; "You should really have not stolen the car."
The sisters rolled their eyes as the avengers looked done with Steve. Tony sighs rubbing his temples; "Capsicle not another lecture, please."
Steve sighs but nodded as he leaned against his seat. While the supernatural and the gotham crew watch in pure amusement but each wondering how long the lecture would be?
Natasha was struggling to start the car, as she reversed back and hitting the cars, Caroline looked at her, "You are a terrible driver."
Yelena joined in the banter, "Yeah, any time now."
Natasha rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Shut Up."
"I should've driven instead," Harley remarked with a huge grin, prompting immediate agreement from Yelena. "She's the most skilled driver among us three."
Natasha, rolled her eyes in jest, harbored a begrudging acknowledgment of the truth. Bonnie directed her attention to the sisters, puzzled by their exchange. "What on earth are you two talking about? Carol..Harley's driving skills are terrible."
Harley pouted slightly at Bonnie's remark, her pout betraying a hint of defensiveness. "It was just one mishap, Bon. One!"
Bonnie couldn't help but smile, realizing that despite their complicated friendship, she and her still shared a deep bond. They both deserved better than the hand they'd been dealt with; perhaps it was only a matter of time before they both realized it. Observing Harley's nostalgic expression, Natasha and Yelena exchanged a knowing glance.
"Pray tell, what happened?" Klaus inquired, eager to uncover the untold story. Klaus, intrigued by the exchange, turned his gaze from the blonde to the bennett witch, curiosity evident in his expression. The ex-jester glared at Bonnie who let out an exaggerated sigh, "My lips are sealed."
"Wait is that ti—" Elena was cut off by a pillow as Harley threw at her and she playfully glared at the doppelgänger. Elena could not help but smile as maybe there is hope for them to reconnect. They can never return to the way things were before but maybe there is hope for something better.
Ivy's gaze at her friend, her eyes filled with amusement. "Didn't you once attempt to steal the batmobile?"
Bruce's eyes shifted to Harley, who avoided his gaze with a playful laugh, her demeanor betraying a hint of mischief. "What? No," she countered with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Uh, I don't recall."
Bruce couldn't help but chuckle at her, his amusement evident as he leaned in to whisper. "You certainly did try to steal it, though."
Harley sank in her chair as her cheek's flush red. "I have no idea what you are talking about, bats."
"Wait, why am I back again? This is not fair," complained Yelena. None of the two sisters answer besides an eye roll. Natasha sped past the cars. A widow appeared once again, starting to shoot at them breaking the glass of the back of the car as the girls duck down.
"What is the goddam plan? Or shall I just stay duck and cover." Yelena yelled as she gripped onto the backseat. Natasha rolled her eyes as she turned right, "My plan was to drive us away."
"Well your plan sucks." Yelena scoffs at her. Caroline rolled her eyes, "Who cares, we need to get out of here."
Caroline immediately turned the car to the widow's direction as Yelena got up from the back seat, opened her door, kicked down knocking down the widow. "You're welcome."
The two older sisters rolled their eyes. The tank reappeared as it followed them as it continued to make a lot of collateral damage as the tank was driving over the car, hurting innocent lives. Yelena peaked from the back seat, "Oh, shit he is back."
Taskmaster came out; took out an arrow that had explosives on it and pointed in their direction. Natasha sighs, noticing the figure from the rear mirror, "Put your seatbelts on."
Caroline put on her seatbelt as she shut her eyes while Yelena put it on, "You're such a mom."
Katherine directed her gaze toward the trio of sisters. "I have a feeling that this won't end well."
The sisters, however, met her concern with nonchalant shrugs, Harley offering a confirming nod. "You're absolutely right," she admitted. Rhodey shook his head in disbelief. "You three are remarkably unfazed by all of this."
Natasha, turning to him with a small smile, "To be honest, at this stage, nothing should catch us off guard anymore."
"What exactly do you mean by that?" Stefan asked, his eyes brimming with admiration, as he glanced at the redhead with hint of warmth? He knew it was dumb question but he wanted to speak to the redhead.
Natasha met his gaze with a soft smile as she could feel her cheeks warming up. "It means," she began, her voice tinged with warmth, "that after watching everything we just witness whatever comes next should not be surprising."
Stefan nodded in understanding as Natasha turned her attention back to the screen, a subtle flush gracing her cheeks as she caught herself admiring his looks. Across the room, Harley watched the exchange with a knowing smirk.
Natasha accelerated trying to get away but it was too late. The car had flipped over. Hitting multiple cars on the way. The car rolled over several times, until it slid down a subway entrance but the impact caused the windows to break, glasses everywhere, and inflating the safety bag.
The three girls were stuck as Caroline's head made contact with the dash bored. Blood is pouring out of her head. Natasha's head made contact with the dashboard but made little damage.
Natasha got out of the car making Caroline do the same. Yelena had the most amount of impact on her arm as blood poured out. Caroline and Natasha helped Yelena out. Yelena was in shock, "Guys, I'm bleeding."
Caroline was going to help stop the bleeding until Natasha stopped her, "No. Not now, trust me."
As the scene unfolded before them, Sharon's voice cut through the air with a touch of nostalgia. "It reminds me of that mission we shared," she remarked, her words laden with a shared history known only to the redhead beside her.
Natasha's gaze softened with memories tinged with both fondness and remorse, her guilt palpable as she recalled how she also abandoned Sharon. She murmured, the weight of their shared experiences casting a shadow over her features. "Our first mission together."
Sharon nodded in acknowledgment, her voice equally subdued. "Fury's idea."
Happy watched with amusement, as he had a small smile on his lips as he remembered his attempts to teach Peter and Ned to drive. "Can't been worse than Peter and Ned," he mused aloud, prompting protest from the two teenage boys.
"Hey!" they both exclaimed in unison, defending their driving skills. Happy shrugged, his amusement swirl in his eyes. "MJ was a breeze to teach," he remarked, casting a glance at the teen girl.
Peter's gaze softened as he looked at MJ, his girlfriend, a fond smile playing on his lips. "Okay, but Em is good at everything," he quipped, his admiration for his girlfriend is widely known.
Natasha sighs for them to follow her as they slid down the escalator. The girls immediately rolled over just on time as taskmaster threw a shield at them. They ran further down the subway station as Natasha led them to a vent.
Natasha and Caroline got in first as they helped Yelena get in. They ripped a piece of Caroline's sweater and tied it around Yelena's arm to stop the bleeding. Caroline peeked out the vent and saw the hooded figure leave. She closed the vent as she looked around and saw Yelena in pain. "You okay?"
"Yeah, great plan. I love the part where I almost bled to death." Yelena rolled her eyes then looks around the vent, "This is cozy."
"Barton and I spent two days hiding out here." Natasha sighs in remembrance. Caroline and Yelena saw some games being drawn on vent.
"Sounds like a party."
"That must have been fun."
A ripple of laughter cascaded through the room as the two youngest sister's sarcastic comments were contrast to their situation. Clint, with a faint smile gracing his lips, has memories of their tumultuous time in budapest. Despite the chaos that had happened, it was during those trying moments that he forged a deep bond with Natasha, who had since become his best friend.
Clint wanted to voice a question, but he hesitated, ultimately to stay quiet instead. He turned his attention back to the screen.
Natasha rolled her eyes at them, "Who the hell is that guy?"
Yelena sighs as she winces out in pain, "Dreykov's special project. Taskmaster. He can mimic anyone he's ever seen. It's like fighting in a mirror. Dreykov only deploys him for top priority missions."
A ripple of concern passed among all of them. Sensing their unease, Natasha addressed them with a reassuring tone, "Don't worry. It's been handled."
The avengers nodded in acknowledgment, their curiosity remain yet stayed quiet out of respect for Natasha's authority. Across the room, gotham's enigmatic billionaire spared Harley a curious glance, but refrained from prying further. It wasn't his place to intrude.
As he watched her, his heart twinged with a pang of emotion, an unfamiliar sensation he struggled to reconcile. Pushing aside the swirl of feelings, he reminded himself of his own struggles of expressing his feelings.
"That doesn't make any sense." Natasha rubbed her hands together. Yelena rolled her eyes, "Well obviously the truth rarely makes sense when you omit key details."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Natasha looks up at Yelena in confusion. Yelena narrowed her eyes, "You didn't say one more thing about Dreykov's daughter."
"You killed her." Realization quickly filled up Caroline's eyes. Natasha put her head down in shame, "I had to. I need her to lead me to Dreykov. She was collateral damage."
Yelena turned her gaze upon the assembled group, her expression steely and commanding. "Remember what I said."
A palpable tension hung in the air, each member of the group keenly aware of the gravity behind the youngest blonde's threat. No one dared to utter a word or make a move, their collective memory of her threat seared into their consciousness like a shadow that didn't dare to see the light.
"We need confirmation Dreykov's in the building." Natasha is gazing out the window. Natasha glanced at the mirror, noticing a black car heading to park against a curb, "His car is pulling up now."
A little girl comes out of the car with a red backpack. She is heading to the building up the stairs. Natasha spots her near a window at the top floor, "Natasha, we clear?"
"All clear." The building exploded as Natasha looked down in guilt.
Natasha glances at her sister, "Dreykov's daughter was collateral damage. I needed her to be sure."
Clint closed his eyes, his gaze resting upon Natasha with an empathetic understanding. "It's not your fault, Nat," he offered softly, his words a gentle reassurance amidst the weight of guilt that hung in the air.
Natasha remained silent, grappling with the complexity of her emotions. While she recognized that the situation may not have entirely been within her control, the lingering sense of responsibility weighed heavily upon her conscience.
"And here you are not so sure." Yelena eyed her with a hint of remorse in her eyes. Natasha avoided both the glances she got from her sisters, "I needed out."
It was pure silence and tension was thick between the sisters until Caroline broke the silence, "Come on, let's move."
A heavy silence hung over the room, each one grappling with their own tumultuous thoughts. What words could possibly ease them? They were gathered here to witness the unfolding of destiny itself, but what implications did this hold for the sisters, the heroes, and the supernatural alike?
Questions swirled in the depths of their minds, each one yearning for answers that remained nonexistent amidst the veil of the future.
"The red room's still active. Where is it?" questioned Natasha. Yelena grabbed something off the shelf and responded back to Natasha, "I have no idea. He moves location constantly. And every widow is sedated on entry and exit for maximum security."
"It doesn't make sense how can he stay off the radar without alerting anyone?" Caroline's brow furrowed in confusion. Natasha agreed with Caroline, "Yeah how can he stay off my radar so easily."
Yelena scoffs at their statements and turns to her sisters, "It is not smart to attack an avenger when you want to stay hidden. Dreykov kills you, one of the big ones comes to avenge you."
Caroline rolled her eyes as Natasha looked between the two of them, "Wait what are the big ones?"
Both Caroline and Yelena glance at her, as if she was insane. Yelena shakes her head, "Well I doubt that a god from space needs to take an ibuprofen after a fight."
A stifled snort escaped from nearly everyone in the room, unable to contain their amusement at the revelation. Among them, the supernatural found themselves gazing in awe at Thor and Loki, figures of myth and legend now standing before them in flesh and blood. It was a reminder that the supernatural world was also its own story.
"What is this ibuprofen, you speak of?" Thor regarded his companions with a furrowed brow, his blue eyes swirling with confusion. Loki, though outwardly displaying his characteristic disdain, harbored a silent curiosity. Yelena glanced up at the god of thunder, "Is a medicine."
Thor gave her nod. While, his teammates cast curious glances in his direction, half-hoping that as a god, he might possess some remedy for his injuries. As the light in the room dimmed, the screen illuminated. With a collective breath, they braced themselves for whatever was next.
Caroline lets out a small giggle at that as Natasha glares at both of them. A small smile appeared on Yelena's face but it was instantly dropped as she questioned them, "Where did you both think I was all this time?"
Caroline lets out a shaky breath, "I thought you were free and thought it be better for us to be in our own paths. Plus, I don't know what I'm supposed to say after so many years of being separated."
"I thought you got out and were living a normal life." Natasha spares her glance. Yelena scoffs at both of them, "And you never make contact again."
"Honestly, I thought you didn't want to see me." Natasha answered her, by avoiding eye contact. Yelena grabbed some medical supplies and looked back at Natasha, "Bullshit. You just didn't want your baby sister to tag along, while you saved the world with the cool kids."
The avengers winced collectively, with the exception of Bruce Banner, Thor, and Loki, whose limited time on earth spared them the burden of the current situation on earth with Ross. Rhodey let out a scoff, ruining the mood. "It's not like any of us are considered cool right now."
The avengers nodded in somber agreement, their expressions reflecting a shared sense discomfort. Stefan, gaze over the avengers. "I thought you were all earth's mightiest heroes, is that not considered cool?"
"Yeah but we have issues," murmurs Wanda under her breath. MJ being herself spared them all of them a glance. All each remembering how much the teen girl does not view them as heroes. Tony trying not to deal even further with the topic of sokovia accords, had change the topic. "Where are you, three?"
"In asgard we are fighting my evil older sister." Thor sighs as he recalls what he is doing in space. The avengers all glanced at him in confusion while Bruce (banner) rambled off; "It is crazy we met this girl who is a Valkyrie."
The supernatural creature's eyes widened in shock. Elijah's curiosity peaked up, "Isn't Valkyrie just a myth?"
"Well vampires are a myth too," mutters Harley under her breath as only Happy heard her who snickers in amusement. Loki gave Elijah a stifled nod, "They were wiped out of existence and now there is only one left."
Each individual in the room nodded in unison, their minds processing the information given by the god of mischief.
Natasha did not think clearly of the next choice words that came out of her mouth, "None of you were actually my sisters."
Natasha moved to the counter as she went to pay for the items she got. Caroline stayed silent. Yelena eyed her as pain was written across her, "And the avengers aren't really your family."
The three sisters winced in unison, their discomfort palpable as they reflected on their less than ideal moments. Clint, breaking the tense silence, let out a resigned sigh. "I dare say, everyone in this room could benefit from therapy."
A collective murmur of agreement rippled through the assembly, each member bearing their own burdens of past trauma and unhealed wounds. Ned, repeated what he mentioned way early on, "We would, but it's a tad out of our price range."
"So real," murmurs Peter under his breath. Harley couldn't resist a playful jab at the mikaelsons, a mischievous glint dancing in her eyes. "Thank heavens you all have access to one,"
That earned a snort of amusement from Rebekah. "Yeah, but let's be honest, therapy might be a lost cause for us."
"Touché."
"How come you always do that thing? You did it earlier today too." Yelena asked, sparing Natasha a glance. Caroline let out a small chuckle. Natasha raised her eyebrows in confusion, "Do what?"
Yelena replied back to her, "What you do when you are fighting?"
Natasha raised her eyebrow again. Yelena bent down to demonstrate, "The.. Like, the," Yelena bent completely down, "This thing that you do when you whip your hair when you're fighting with the arm and the hair."
Yelena put one leg out as the other leg was keeping her balance and she put one arm in the air and the other on the floor as she whipped her hair back and forth. Caroline let out a big laugh, at Natasha's face, while Yelena kept teasing, "It's a fighting pose. You're a total poser."
Natasha gave them both a stern look, "I'm not a poser."
Yelena scoffs at her, "Oh, come on, I mean, they're great poses, but it does look like you think everyone's looking at you, like all the time."
Laughter filled the room in response to the display by the youngest blonde, a moment of lightheartedness. Harley, turning to the assembled heroes with a playful grin. "You all do it as well."
The avengers' amusement faded as they acknowledged the truth in her observation. Tony, with a grin chimed in, "Well, Hermione, it's all part of the package."
Kol, his curiosity piqued, directed his gaze toward the heroes, with curiosity. "But how exactly does it happened?"
"Not sure," mumbles Steve under his breath. The heroes, caught off guard by the observation, exchanged uncertain glances. With a collective shrug, they acknowledged the mystery that surrounded their own iconic poses, choosing to set aside the question for the time being as they refocused their attention on the screen.
Natasha gave her a serious look, "All that time I spent posing, I was trying to do something good to make up for all the pain and suffering that we caused. Trying to be more than just a trained killer."
Yelena eyed her, "Well, then you were fooling yourself because pain and suffering is every day and we are all still trained killers."
Caroline looks at Yelena who is still continuing her point, "The difference between me and you two is I am not the one on cover magazine or the one running around the city pretending to be something I'm not. I'm not a killer that little girls call their hero."
Natasha let out a weary sigh, the weight of her past, pressing heavily upon her as she struggled to make amends for the destruction she had cause. Despite her efforts, she knew that the road to redemption would be a long and hard one, with countless years ahead to repay the debts she owed.
Harley mirrored Natasha's sigh, her own sense of mistakes lingered in her mind. In her eyes, the truth rang clear: how could she hope to save others when she herself was stained with the blood of her victims? Not just from the past life as a widow but her time with the Joker. How could she truly live with herself?
Yelena winced at the consequence of her words, her gaze shifting apologetically to her older sisters. "I'm sorry," she murmured, regretting the way she said it.
The two elder sisters waved off her apology, though the weight of guilt lingered in their minds. Throughout the room, a collective desire to offer comfort and reassurance stirred, yet each one held their tongue, recognizing that this was a moment meant for the sisters alone.
The three sisters sat as they patch up their injuries. Yelena took a deep breath as she broke the silence, "That gas, the counteragent, was synthesized in secret by an older widow from Melina's generation. I was on the mission to retrieve it, and she exposed me and I killed the widow that freed me."
Natasha sighs as pitiness fills her eyes, "Did you have a choice?"
Yelena scoffs at that, "What you experienced was psychological conditioning. I'm talking about alternating brain functions. They're two completely different things. You're fully conscious, but you don't know which part is you. I'm still not sure."
The atmosphere in the room grew heavy once more, a tangible weight settling over them as smiles belied the darkness lurking beneath. Klaus directed his gaze to the blonde, as she would visits new orleans alot over the past year— privately of course. "What was it for you?"
Harley sighs as she lets out a little shaky breath. "Both. Psychological conditioning but then they advanced to chemically altering brain functions," she confessed, her words carrying the weight of her past trauma.
The supernatural beings in the room regarded her with a mixture of empathy and sorrow, an unspoken understanding passing between them. Elena, seeking to understand more, gently spoke to her. "If you are comfortable about it, how do both exactly work?"
The sisters shrugged as they glanced at the two science bros. Tony spoke out, "In the back of mind of being chemically alternate leaves them no choice but to obey. But, psychological conditioning was their own will that kept anyone from fleeing in the middle of a mission. The acts were entirely voluntary as they were made to believe that this is how their life will be."
A simmering anger ignited within Bruce's chest as behind his stoic facade, a tempest of emotions raged, each wave fueled by an overwhelming sense of injustice. Beneath the facade of the billionaire playboy lay the heart of a vigilante, finally seeming to understand the haunted look in her eyes that resembles his eyes but their stories are completely different.
"They also planted false memories." Natasha, her voice tinged with anger, broke the silence. No one said anything as they processed her words. How does that even work? They all faced the screen wanting to know more but stayed silent instead.
"I'm sorry." Caroline glanced down as she mumbled out. Yelena gives her a small smile, "I was not the only one. You always took the punishment for me."
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Natasha eyed the two of them. Both stayed silent until Yelena spoke, "When you left the red room, we were both going to be punished but Caroline volunteered most of the time to take the punishment so I wouldn't suffer."
"I didn't know, they would hurt you both. I thought the red room was gone." Natasha's eyes are written with guilt. Caroline opened her mouth but Yelena's voice cracked a bit as she stammered out, "Is not like you care, Natasha."
Natasha turned to see Caroline who was avoiding eye contact and turned back to Yelena. "Believe it or not but I do care."
A collective shudder rippled through the room. Natasha's gaze drifted toward her sisters, her expression heavy with regret. "Forgive me," she murmured softly.
The two sisters, brushed off Natasha's apology with a subtle gesture, preferring to bury their troubles in silence for the time being. Sensing the somber mood that had settled over the room, the others followed suit, redirecting their attention back to the screen before them, each lost in their own thoughts.
Natasha decided to change the topic as her head turned to the rest of the vials, "Is that all there is left?"
Yelena turns to what Natasha was looking at and she hums in response, "It's the only thing that can stop Dreykov and his network of widows. He takes more everyday. Children who don't have anyone to protect them. Just like us when we were small. Maybe one in twenty survives the training, becomes a widow. The rest, he kills. To him, we are just things. Weapons with no face that he can just throw away. And no one's even looking thanks to you and Alexei."
Steve's jaw tightened as his gaze swept across the room, his voice carrying a tinge of frustration. "We made a pact earlier to stop this, did we not?"
Everyone in the room nodded in agreement, their commitment evident. However, the three sisters exchanged knowing glances, their eyes rolling in amusement, for they had already taken care of it.
Each forgetting this past they are watching. As many in the present had not experience the future, and they could tell by the eyes of some, that it was no good. They might not experience it but they will soon watch the chaos unfolding before their very eyes.
"Alexei?" Natasha and Caroline perk up at the mention of their father. Yelena chuckles at them, "Dad."
"Did you both ever look for your parents? Your real ones?" Yelena sighs as eyed the two. Natasha snorted as she spoke in a monotone voice. "Well, my mom abandoned me in the streets like garbage. So no."
"Is complicated but no." Caroline bit her lip and avoided their gaze then changed the attention to Yelena instead. "What about you, Lena?"
Yelena chuckled, looking back at her and Natasha, "They destroyed my birth certificate, so I never got the chance to see who my biological parents were, but it doesn't matter because I reinvented it. My parents still live in Ohio. Both of my sisters moved out west."
Natasha and Caroline chuckled at that as Yelena continued, "My second oldest sister, became a journalist and works at the pluge. Thinking about what she wants in life."
Yelena turns to face Natasha, "Natasha, the oldest, is a science teacher. Part time though because you just had your son. Your husband renovates houses."
"That is not my story." Natahsa lets out a chuckle. Caroline and Yelena let out a laugh. Yelena looks at both of them, "Then what is your story my dearly sisters?"
Natasha answered it quickly, "I never let myself be alone enough to think about it?"
A heavy veil of silence descended upon the room, each one feeling the weight of heartbreak for the three girls whose tragic past was laid bare before them. Despite their empathy, they refrained from offering the girls pity, understanding thats not what they would want.
"I now know the truth," Natasha interjected softly, a glimmer of hope kindling within her. Perhaps, against all odds, her biological mother still walked among the living. The possibility of reconnecting with her, made the redhead's heart tighten. Would her mother be proud of the woman she had become, despite the darkness imposed upon her by Dreykov's control?
"Do you think мама knows her name?" Natasha asked hesitantly, her gaze seeking solace in Harley's direction. The redhead acknowledges she just referred Melina as her mother but in some way she was. Harley's response was gentle, "No, she would've told you."
Though the disappointment in Natasha's eyes did not escape the notice of Sharon and Yelena, who offered her small smiles. Which the redhead returned with gratitude. She mumbles softly, "Thanks."
Bruce, observing the scene with a rare softness in his demeanor, extended a quiet offer of assistance. His gaze fixed on Harley, who sat hugging her knees. "Would you like to learn more about your mother? I can help you, find her."
Harley's response was uncertain, reflecting the conflicted emotions swirling within her. "I'm not sure if I'm ready to face her," she admitted in a hushed whisper. Bruce, his typically stoic facade softened as he grabbed her hand. "And that's totally fine."
Yelena changes the topic as she asks another question, "Did you ever wish for kids? I want a dog."
Caroline and Natasha smiled at thought. Caroline sighs as she leans back in her chair, "I don't know. That choice was taken from me and I just kind of accepted it, you know? But maybe in the future I can adopt, if it is meant to be."
Harley sighs as she think the graduation ceremony was not done properly on her. As, there were moments when she did get pregnant by the Joker but due to the stress by the psychotic clown, she had multiple miscarriages.
A warm smile graced Bonnie's lips, her unwavering belief that her best friend, will be the best mother. Happy, couldn't help but shake his head in mild exasperation. "You're always getting yourself into trouble for those kids," he remarked with a hint of exhaustion as he usually has to bail her out.
"Eh, is worth it," declared Harley brightly, her affection for Peter, MJ, and Ned evident in her words. Though she considered them her own in many ways, she humbly acknowledged the important roles played by May in Peter's upbringing and Ned's Lola in his.
After all, they had all been raised to become remarkable people, a testament to the love and guidance they received from their loved ones.
Yelena and Natasha smiled at her older sister. Natasha shrugged, "I don't know."
"Where you gonna go?" Natasha looks at Yelena with a pensive glance. Yelena sighs "I don't know. I don't really have anywhere to go back to, so I guess anywhere."
"Don't." Yelena started off, as the girls stayed quiet but Yelena continued, "One of you is going to give me some big hero speech, I can feel it."
"It was more of an invitation to a party." Caroline gave her a playful smirk. Yelena raised her eyebrow as Natasha went straight to the point, "To go to the red room and end this once and for all."
"Even though the red room is impossible to find and Dreykov is too slippery to kill?" Yelena stated with a hesitant tone. Both girls nodded their heads in confirmation. Yelena chuckles, "That sounds like a shit load of work. Are we sure we want to do this?"
Caroline looked at both of her sisters, "We have to try, okay. Look, all of us have secrets that we keep to ourselves because whatever we do to move on, it doesn't work. Because we can't erase the past. But we have to try okay? This is our chance to set things right."
Natasha nodded her head, "Caroline is right. We have to try. At some point, we all have to choose between what the world wants you to be and who you are."
Yelena takes a deep breath. "Lucky us then. Okay let's finish this together. Also that totally was a hero speech."
The sisters rolled their eyes as they stuck their tongue out at Yelena. Natasha smiles at Yelena and gives out a smirk as she looks at Caroline, "I saw where he put the keys."
Yelena has a mischievous smile, "Top drawer, green cabinet."
Bucky glance at the girls and his teammates, a hint of regret in his words. "And that's why people don't like us. We have a tendency to take and destroy when they don't belongs to us."
"Trust me is not just that," murmurs MJ with a sarcastic smile. The avengers winced collectively at the uncomfortable truth. Ivy gaze towards the heroes amusement in her eyes. "You might want to consider starting some form of insurance."
Harley shook her head, imagining the nightmare of filing a claim after the avengers wreaked her belongings. The ex-jester giggles as she spoke softly, "Just imagine the endless wait and being on hold after the avengers wrecked my car for the fifth time."
Yelena joined in with a soft chuckle, "Or the sight of my house being fully destroyed as the avengers came crashing down my roof."
Despite their eye-rolling response, Natasha and her fellow avengers couldn't deny the truth. MJ was right along. Ned still feels weird about heroes he once looked up to. "You all should do more for the community."
All glances at the filipino teen boy who looks away. Their actions often left a trail of collateral damage, a fact they couldn't easily dismiss.
"Not a single word about you being in the back again." Caroline stated with annoyance. Yelena stook her tongue at Caroline, which caused Natasha to roll her eyes. Yelena looks at them, "You know, this is the first piece of clothing I've ever bought for myself."
"That?" Natasha raised her eyebrow. Caroline looked offended, "What's wrong with it? I think it is nice."
"Thank you! And so what you don't like it?" Yelena started with a smile then her eyes landed on redhead. Natasha smiled at her and looked back at the road, "Is that like a... Is that a army surplus, or."
"Okay, it has a lot of pockets. But I will use them all the time and I made some of my own modifications." Yelena started. Both sisters laughed at her. Yelena rolled her eyes at them, "Shut up both of you. The point is, I've never... I've never had control over my own life before, and now I do. I want to do things."
"I like your vest." Natasha looked at Yelena with a small smirk. Yelena gave out a laugh, "Ha! I knew it. I knew you did. It's so cool, right? I knew it. Sorry to ruin the moment but I really don't know where the red room is."
Natasha looks at both of them, "We are going to need a jet. Because I think I know someone who does."
"Come on Nat, remember the clothes you fir-" Clint proclaimed with a mischievous grin, until he was cut off by a pillow. Natasha flicked Clint hard with a pillow. "First of all that is mean, trying to expose me like that. Second, you're just asking for it," she teased, her eyes dancing with amusement.
Tony casted a pointed glare in Natasha's direction. "Woah, red you're hardly one to talk, considering you once filled my coffee with salt."
"Pepper went along with it," mumbles Natasha with a grin on her face. All laughed at Tony's fake gasp look as he kept mumbling Pepper would not do him dirty like that.
"I said we needed a jet." Scene cuts, as Natasha spoke as her and her sisters walked toward an old white and blue helicopter. Rick scoffed, "Yeah, you know what you didn't give me? Time. Or money. I'm not made of jets."
"I thought you were supposed to be the best. Like a real pro," teased Yelena. Caroline let out a small laugh, "I'm sure he did his best."
"Oh, I beg your pardon, Tsarina was the free flat and lifetime supply of kissel not your liking? And Ms. Sanchez would you like me to pull out a portal gun instead of taking this elegant form of transportation," huffed Rick.
Chuckles were heard across the room. While Harley and Yelena gave each other a high-five, even though Rick really did his best he could within a short time. Peter looked at Harley curiously, "Ms. Sanchez?"
The ex-jester shrugs as her eyes glint with mischief. "Long story but short version name comes from my obsession with rick and morty."
"Don't let them wind you up." Natasha states taking a step closer to him. Rick shook his head, "No I take exception to impugning my professionalism."
"Well, you did set me up with a generator that crapped out after six hours." Natasha teased him back. Rick scoffed, "You, too huh? What is this? A trio of insulting people's professionalism?"
Both Caroline and Yelena cooed at him, "Aww he's sensitive. We see why you keep him around."
Natasha rolled her eyes and looked back at Rick. With that Rick took out a bag and Natasha went looking through it, seeing three suits. Yelena saw a protein bar and opened it. Natasha looked at her, "Oh, I stashed that like five years ago."
Caroline scrunched her nose in disgust as Yelena took a bite of it. Natasha questioned her on the taste of the bar, "How is it?"
"It's dry. It's really dry." Yelena chewed the bar. Caroline followed her in, "A five star meal."
Harley wrinkled her nose in disgust, Yelena stuck her tongue at her sister, earning them both a gentle smack on the head from Natasha who struggled a bit as Harley sat row below her. Everyone chuckled at their antics.
"Why eat it then?" Kol asked, as he looked at her. Yelena shrugs, narrowing her eyes, "I suppose hunger got the better of me. Is that a problem?"
Kol caught the silent glare from Harley and Natasha, and quickly shook his head. "N-no, not at all. I'm sure it was quite delicious."
Natasha was outside with Rick, "You know, you're getting dangerously close to running out your tab. Supplies I can tally, but you bring me attention from the authorities, all my prices go up."
Natasha raised her eyebrow at him. Rick sighs, "Your job, shield and even the goddamn bureau are sniffing around my affairs to the point at which I've got contacts declining my calls. I'm a private contractor."
"You are sensitive." Natasha rolled her eyes at the fact that her sisters were right. Rick sighs, "You're a very annoying individual"
"I'll make up for you." Natasha gives him a smile, as she gets in the helicopter. Rick gave her a knowing look. He shut the door.
Rebekah directed her gaze towards the three sisters with curious expression, "Where are you all going?"
The sisters responded with nonchalant shrugs and teasing smiles, eliciting groans of frustration from the rest of the room, all consumed by curiosity. The sisters, unfazed by the attention, rolled their eyes in amusement.
A man losing at arm wrestling— as someone began to yell, "So, I have the nuclear code. But there he is," he gets ready for another arm wrestle, "Captain America."
Everyone in the room glanced at Steve in curiosity. While Steve got confused as he glanced at the sisters, "I have never met him."
The trio of sisters let out snorts in amusement. Natasha simply shrugged, her demeanor nonchalant. "Well, he's hardly, ever in the right state of mind."
Alexei slams the guy's hand down on the table, "Finally. The Red Guardian's time has come," we can see that some guy is giving him tattoos on his back. On Alexei's shoulder you can read Наташа, К̶а̶р̶о̶л̶и̶н̶а̶/ Харли, and Елена. (natasha, caroline/harley, yelena)
Yelena glance at the sisters, her voice laced with curiosity, "Did he really get our names tattooed?"
Harley narrowed her gaze, spotting her own name etched onto his shoulder as he got both of her names done. Natasha responded with an exaggerated eye roll, a silent testament to her amusement. "I guess he does care in his own way."
Damon observed the girls, "What daddy issues?"
"Why is he even talking," murmurs Happy under his breath. Harley glared at him, "Literally everyone in this room has either mommy or daddy issues, especially you, Damon."
No one said anything as her words held some truth. Wanda has a small smile as she really did not have any issues with her parents, they were the best parents she could ask for.
Tony glanced at the room, "Let's continue before we all start sulking for having shitty adult figures in our lives."
"I grab hold of his shield and face to face, it's a test of strength," the next person that faces him starts the arm wrestle. It looks like he's going to win as Alexei puts on a concerned face. The tattoo artist stops and watches, "Oh... oh, no," Alexei whimpers.
He then slams the guy's arm down. "Oh," he calls with a mocking laugh and a point as the guy, "That guy thinks he is going to beat me. Anyway, this shield, you know that he carries with him, like a precious baby blanket, you know?"
Steve turned red and sunk into his seat, he carried the shield a lot but he needed it. However, his shield was like his most precious thing. The avengers all laughed at Steve as he looked embarrassed. Bucky snorted, "He is not wrong."
Everyone let out a little chuckle as Steve avoided all their glances but he had a certain blonde original glancing at him. Kol noticed this as he had a teasing smile on him. Of course Rebekah would have a crush on the american golden boy.
Another man sits down. Alexei continues to tell his story. "I use it to my advantage, and I push him out the window! And I make my escape!"
"What year was this?" asks the man that just sat down.
Yelena cast a knowing glance in Steve's direction, "If you happen to cross paths with our father, it might be best to pretend you know him."
Natasha chimed in with a nod of agreement. "Otherwise, we'll never hear the end of it."
Alexei scoffs, "I don't know. Like, '83? '84?"
"Captain America was still frozen in ice then," Ursa points out. Alexei's grin fades and he leans in slightly. "Are you calling me a liar, Ursa, huh?"
Everyone in the room was confused why he was determined he fought captain america? Klaus eyed the sisters then at Steve, "He strongly believes what he says. Why is that?"
Harley peaked from her seat, "Natasha previously stated they plant false memories. They probably told him he fought captain america and since no one is there to correct him, he believes it happened."
A collective wince rippled through the room, each one struggle with the mixture of emotions towards the man who had endangered the sisters. There a pang of guilt, acknowledging the possibility of his own abuse he endured, still it was not enough to excuse him of his actions. Elijah's glances at the sisters. "Do you not have any resentment towards him, despite what he's done?"
The three sisters shake their heads. Natasha harbored a degree of resentment, but she also empathized with his past, understanding the factors that may have influenced his behavior. "When you become part of that cycle of abuse it is hard to break it. Especially when you have the whole planting false memories."
Yelena sighs as she has a fond smile on her; "He is trying his best, plus he kind of paid for his crime."
Bruce eyed the youngest blonde, "What do you mean?"
Harley let out a breath, "He spent twenty years in prison. So, he paid for what he did, maybe not fully for all the damage he has done but it is something."
All the people with a simple moral view wanted to protest against the blonde's word but they stayed quiet. It was like the blonde could sense it as she let out a little scoff. Harley turned back to face the screen.
Alexei lets out a yell and slams Ursa's wrist on the table. The inmates yell as Ursa yells in pain, he groans and clutches his wrist that is now wonky. He writhes in pain and that's when the PA system beeps. A man speaks in Russian over the system. "Alexei Shostakov! Mail Call,"
Alexei and the other inmates are laughing at Ursa as he groans in pain, "Oh no. Oh no."
"Alexei Shostakov! Mail Call."
Alexei starts to get his shirt on, "Aw look at the big bear. Gonna cry little girl?"
A ripple of amusement swept through the room at Alexei's playful banter, prompting a collective chuckle from those gathered. Clint couldn't suppress a snort of laughter in response. "He's certainly one of a kind."
Earning nods of agreement from the others. Alexei's uniqueness was undeniable, a trait that set him apart.
"The famed 'Red Guardian'," mocked the two desk officers. They handed him a box. They were eating. "When you write back, tell your fans to use more butter."
Alexie opened the box revealing an action figure.
Tony snorted in amusement and disbelief, "He has fans and his own action figure?"
Everyone in the room snickered at that. They all snorted as Alexei really was unique in his own way. Yelena let out a little laugh, "Maybe there are some parts that are true in the story he tells."
Sam let out a little chuckle, "Maybe he did fight captain america and Steve just forgot."
The entire room barked out of laughter, seeing Steve turn completely red. Natasha shook her head, "Alexie would talk shit about how the fight was not fair."
The avengers all stared at each other before they completely yelled out, "Language!"
"It was one time," mumbles Steve as his cheek's flush red. The avengers all laughed at Steve. Stefan eyed the heroes in amusement, "What is the story behind that?"
Wanda had a teasing smile, "It really isn't funny, we just do it to bother Steve."
Tony immediately glances at Stefan in glee, "So, capsicle over here, yelled 'language' in the middle of a mission when to be fair we all had the right to curse dealing with those hydra agents."
Steve sunk further into his chair as the entire room stared at him in amusement. Bonnie could not help but pity the poor guy, "We should keep watching."
Alexei stared down at the red guardian action figure. Alexei could not help but 'hmm' out his alter ego theme song. Alexei pulled the string of the action figure and the head popped off revealing an ear piece. Alexei carefully looked around making sure no one was looking at him, as he put the earpiece in.
"Today is your lucky day, Alexei. Move to the door on the south wall."
A collective gasp swept through the room, jaws dropping in astonishment at the revelation. Rhodey's eyes widened, "You... you broke him out of prison?"
Natasha merely shrugged nonchalantly, her demeanor betraying no hint of remorse, her eyes filled with amusement. "Yup."
