Chapter XXI

"Dishonor on you! Dishonor on your cow! And dishonor on the Fa family!" ~Muhsu (Mulan)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
We decided to revisit an old world we had visited previously, so off to the Land of Dragons we go. After getting off our ship, we were back in the ruined village by the summit where we fought Shun-Yu. "I wonder how everybody's doin'?" Goofy asked as we wandered through the ruins.

"Look!" Donas pointed.

We paused in our tracks to see a cloaked figure standing at the edge of the village. They stared at us momentarily before dashing off up into the summit. "Wait!" Sora cried, preparing to pursue the figure.

"Sora! Sakura!" Another voice called for us. We turned to see Mulan running up to us, bending over and panting once she had reached us.

"Mulan, hey," Sora greeted. "No time to talk. We gotta catch that guy!"

Once Mulan recovered, her gaze turned serious as she walked ahead of us. "I'm following him, too!" She stated.

"Then let's go!" Donald said.

We then began our trek up landed the summit, which, let me tell you, was much easier than the first time we went up there. Well, for me at least. Since I wasn't wearing armor like the last time. Boy, I wasn't missing wearing those pieces of metal on my body. Yeah, sure, we still had to tread through the fresh fallen snow, but it wasn't so bad. If we leave out the moment someone made every once in a while that they're feet was going to be frostbitten if we don't hurry up.

Mulan tapped our shoulders and pointed. There, the figure ran up the ridge and we followed, but we lost him as soon as we found him. "Looks like he got away," Mulan sighed as she looked around.

"How come you're after somebody from Organization XIII?" Goofy asked.

"What is that?" Mulan questioned.

"The guy in black," Sora replied.

"One of the bad guys!" Donald added.

"I knew it!" Mulan stated. "There's a rumor in the Imperial City about a spy in black, lurking in the mountains. I'd been up here tracking him, but when you arrived, I lost him."

"Sorry!" Goofy guiltily dropped his head.

"Don't apologize," Mulan smiled. "But I do wonder where he went." Mulan stared at the top of the summit, eyes narrowed, as if she was sensing something. We followed her gaze to see an army of yellow aerial bird Heartless making its way to us.

"Oh no!" I groaned.

"Again?" Donald sighed as he dropped his shoulders.

"Okay, first things first!" Sora shouted as we charged up the summit in order to battle the Heartless.

The Heartless were an absolute pain to take out. Not saying taking out the Heartless is a pain already but aerial Heartless? Do you know how hard to is to keep jumping around in the air and attacking blindly, hoping you take down a few of them? Because that's what I did and it is torture. I noticed Sora wasn't with us and when I glanced around, I saw he was fighting the figure that we were pursuing earlier.

After what seemed like hours, the army was vanquished but Sora had ran on ahead, down from the summit where we were on, muttering something to himself. Once he had stopped and we had caught up to him, Donald reached out, "Are you okay, Sora?"

"Did you get 'em?" Goofy asked.

"Hmm...oh-he's gone," Sora replied.

"What?!" Donald shrieked. "You lost him?"

"Anyway...what now?" Sora changed the subject.

"I think that we better get rid of all the Heartless first," Goofy suggested. Donald nodded with agreement.

Suddenly, the mountain shook and a mini earthquake began. We all wobbled in order to regain balance but the shaking stopped. "What was that?" Mulan asked. "Come on, we better get off the mountain."

"Okay," Sora nodded.

Just as we took one step ahead, the mountain shook once again-more violently this time. We all shrieked as we fell. From the snow, a dragon Heartless emerged from the snow. It roared and flew off. Once we got off, we saw it was heading straight for the city. "It's heading for the city!" Mulan cried. "We got to warn Shang!"

We arrived at the palace, but all was still. Everything was normal. "Huh?" Sora asked, looking around with confusion. "Everything's fine."

"I think we beat the Heartless in getting here..." I stated.

"Well, now..." a voice spoke.

We turned around to see Ling, Yao, and Chien-Po. "Look who decided to show up," Yao said.

"What?" Donald demanded. "Is that a problem?"

"Nah!" Ling smiled.

"We're just glad that you're not in black cloaks," Chien-Po sighed.

"You saw him?!" Mulan yelled.

"Yeah-he's in the palace," Yao pointed at where he went.

"And you just let him in?!" I cried at the three.

They didn't get to respond as Mulan headed straight to the palace as Sora, Donald, Goofy and I followed. A group of Heartless blocked our path but we got rid of them and bolted straight to the door. I tried yanking the door open, but it wouldn't budge. "Open up!" Sora yelled, pounding on the poor. Goofy leaned all his weight against the door while Donald continued pounding and Sora and I pulled the handles of the door to see it would open.

"Over here!" Mulan called us over. We ran to a pillar that led up to a window. If we climbed up through there, we can get into the palace that way. Goofy went first, jumping on the pillar and puling himself up. Donald went next, then Sora, then I. Sora and I of course had no problem climbing the pillars, both of us growing up on the islands.

"Hey Sora, is all that time spent racing Riku up the coconut trees in order to impress Kairi and I paying off now?" I teased.

"Not now, Saki!" Sora grunted.

Mulan, who was following close behind me, lost her footing. As she cried out, Sora and I looked down in shock to see her fall. But luckily, she regained her grip on the pillar and nodded at us in reassurance. Sora and I sighed as we continued upwards until we were on the balcony of the palace.

As we were balancing on the beams on the ceiling, we saw a figure in a Organization cloak standing in the Antechamber in front of giant red door with gold designs, most likely leading to the Emperor himself. We snuck up to the figure and drew our weapons. "Wait!"Mulan yelled.

The figure jumped and slowly turned around to face us. Sora then lowered his weapon and approached the figure. "...Riku?" He said. Donald and goofy exchanged confused looks while I held my breath. Is this how Riku was going to reveal himself?

The man turned around and took off his hood. It was the scarred, eye-patched Nobody that attacked Riku and I in Twilight Town! "No," the man smirked. "Never heard of him."

He summoned up Sniper Nobodies Sora casted Magnet to draw all the Heartless into one place and I casted Fire on them, getting rid of all of the at once. Sora regrouped with the rest of us in order to discuss what had just happened. "Not Riku," I told Sora as he crossed his arms.

"Sorry, Sora," Mulan apologized as she went ahead of us. "I can''t stay. I'm worried about Shang."

"Oh!" Sora remembered the objective at hand. "Right!"

We followed her and pushed open the giant red doors that led directly to the throne room as we went inside. There was Captain Li-Shang and the Emperor. We approached the two. "Your Excellency!" Mulan yelled. "Shang! Something terrible had happened! We saw a huge monster fly out of the mountains and toward the city!"

"Ahh," the Emperor nodded. "So it is as the young man said. Isn't that right, Captain?"

"Y-Yes, Your Excellency," Captain Li-Shang stammered.

"You see, a young stranger visited us not long ago," the Emperor explained. "The Captain fought the visitor, but was quickly defeated."

"To my dishonor," Captain Li-Shang muttered, bowing.

"It seems that the young man was the one in black that I have heard whispers about," the Emperor continued.

"Did he mention the name Riku?'' Sora asked.

"He didn't offer his name," the Emperor replied. "He was rather rude."

"Rude?" Sora grinned. "Then it WAS Riku!"

"Riku's in the Organization?" Donald muttered to Goofy.

"Gwarsh..." Goofy and Donald pondered over the realization.

"No, duh," I rolled my eyes at the two. "Did you forget about your king? He's wearing the same cloak as Riku. By that logic, you're saying His Majesty is in the Organization."

"N-No!" Donald sputtered. "That's not true about the King."

"Sakura's gotta point," Goofy said.

"But why would he come here?' Mulan asked.

Sora tried to think of an answer when the palace shook. "I'll check outside," Mulan stated.

We all turned to see what the rukus was all about when Captain Li-Shang yelled, "Mulan!"

We all turned around as Mulan replied, "Shang-guard the Emperor! I'll be fine-with them!"

"Th-That's right!" Sora assured.

"Indeed," the Emperor agreed. "That is true: We need not worry while you protect us.

"Hurry!" Donald cried.

We ran outside to the main palace gates where Mulan pushed them open to reveal the giant dragon Heartless in front of the door. It roared, causing Mulan to cry out as she took a step back. Sora patted her shoulder and they looked at each other before we all headed outside. The dragon Heartless was circling through the air where it dove down on us. We all ducked while Goofy placed his shield over his head as an extra means of protection. As the dragon Heartless was still on the ground, we all climbed onto its tail and rode its back as it went back into the sky.

Sora and I hung on to the spikes on its back as the Heartless did a black flip in the air, shaking off most of its unwanted passengers from its back. Thunder flickered around on its head so we had to be careful. Sora and I maneuvered to its head and began to hit its spikes. Not liking what we were doing, the Heartless dud another black flip again, causing Sora and I to tumble off its head. The dragon Heartless flew to one side of the Heartless and flew toward us, its tail raining down thunder bombs at us, which we had to scatter in order to dodge. It landed on the bridge and roared, two barriers appearing on both sides of its wing. It bowed its head as sparks began to fly at his horns. I yanked Sora down as we hid underneath the dragon Heartless as it fired two round of thunder beams. sending thunder down onto us.It flew up again and Sora ran out from where we were laying and the dragon came down, providing Sora the opening to slash and stab at its chest, causing it to fly through the air and land on its side.

It flew back up, wobbling as it roared and began to fall from the sky. Sora, Donald, Goofy and I ran away to avoid getting crushed but Mulan, knocked down from the battle, sat on the ground and stared with horror and shock as the Heartless descended upon her. Sora opened his mouth to yell but Captain Li-Shang ran out from the palace. "Mualn!" He cried as he grabbed her and held her protectively under him. Just as the Heartless was about to crush them both, a giant, pink crystallized heart came out from its chest and went up to ht sky, leaving the Heartless to disappear without a heart within it.

"Way to go!" Sora cheered. Captain Li-Shang helped Mulan up as they stared at each other in a daze in a daze. We all gave them an awkward look as they realized what was going on and what they were doing as they let go of each other and act casual like nothing had happened.

Fireworks shot through the sky in celebration of the Heartless' defeat.

Mulan, Sora, Donald, Goofy and I stood, straight and stiff, as we presented ourself to the Emperor. "Once again, you have served China well," he stated. "It would please me to reward you.

Donald clasped his hands and nodded, a greedy glint in his eye as Goofy's stomach rumbled awkwardly. "Well..." Sora gave it some thought. "You say a guy in black came to see you. What did the say?"

"That is all you request?" The Emperor asked.

Donald and Goofy were about to object before Sora nodded, "Yes." And they slumped in defeat. I rolled my eyes at the two and sighed, placing my hands on my hips and shaking my head.

"Dragons have crossed our land and left a great web of paths," the Emperor repeated what he was told. "These dragons wield great much power, and they are the source of many gifts to both man and nature. But it would seem someone of evil intent disturbed one of our dragons, and transformed it into what you call a Heartless. It is my belief that this young man came to warn me of that danger. Then, I could alert and prepare my troops."

"Did you?" Sora asked.

The Emperor chuckled, "I was about to, but he told me the situation had changed."

"He said four 'wise guys' had, arrived and they would take care of things," Captain Li-Shang added.

"That's gotta be Riku!" Sora cheered.

"But, what's he doin' hangin' around with Organization XIII?" Goofy asked with concern.

"Did you listen to a word I said earlier?!" I cried while facepalming

"No idea," Sora sighed with relief. "But at least I finally know he's okay. That's good enough."

"Yeah, that's good!" Donald nodded.

"Now then, Fa Mulan," the Emperor shifted his attention to Mulan. "Do you have a request?"

"I'd like Shang...I-I mean...well...the Captain..." Mulan stuttered over her words.

"Yes, yes, my dear. What is it?"

"Could the Captain have a vacation, please?"

"I hardly expected such a humble request. In this case, I'm afraid I must refuse. Captain Li's responsibility to to protect the Emperor. And yet, Mulan..."

"Yes?"

"Would you like to serve alongside him and protect me? Two reeds together are stronger than one. But the choice is yours alonbe."

"Thank you, your Excellency!"

As they were talking, Sora wiped his eyes and looked away, blushing. I giggled and patted his back with comfort. He jumped and shoved me aside and I laughed, lightly shoving his head aside.
