Chapter XVII
"We each need to find our own inspiration. Sometimes it's not easy." ~Kiki's Delivery Service
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sora, Donald, Goofy and I arrived back at Hollow Bastion to check up to see how everyone was doing. There, we saw some a hoard of Soldier Heartless go by us. They disappeared as soon as they came. "There's a lot more Heartless then I remembered last," I stared.
Some Dusks followed them. "And the Nobodies!" Donald added.
"I wonder what's up?" Sora asked as we wandered the empty streets of Hallow Bastion. As we turned, we saw some solider Heartless at Merlin's house. They disappeared as soon as we saw them, but we still ran in to see if the old wizard was alright. "C'mon!" Sora urged.
As dashed into Merlin's house to see the familiar wizard on his bottom, getting up slowly with the assistance of the various stacks of books he had cluttered around his small cottage. "Well now...took your time, did you?" He huffed as he brushed the dust off his blue robes.
"So, what's up?" Sora said.
"Well, I happened to stumble across this in the Zero District," Merlin held his hand out and a familiar book was summed into his hands, causing all of our faces to light up. Donald quickly grabbed the book from Merlin's hands when offered to us and I got a chance to see the book again. It was titled WINNIE THE POOH. The picture showed Sora holding Pooh's hand while I was holding Piglet's hand and Tigger bouncing next to us as we walked down a trail. The lock on the strap had the book locked up. "Pooh's story book!" Sora and I grinned together.
"That's right," Merlin smiled at our enthusiasm. "I know you two are good friends with Winnie the Pooh, Sora and Sakura. But, I was just attacked by the Heartless and you see, I'm afraid that the book might of been damaged. I need to inform Leon and the others of this attack, but until I get back and take a closer loom and the book, don't touch it. I'll be back in a jiffy!"
Merlin disappeared in a puff of smoke and sparkles. "I wonder how Pooh's doing," Sora uttered.
"Oh no you don't!" I jumped in, knowing what Sora was planning to do. "Didn't you hear a word that Merlin said? No interfering with the book until he gets back! You don't want to hurt Pooh and the others now, don't you?"
"Oh come on!" Sora whined to me. "One visit can't hurt, can it? Besides, if we're in the storybook, we'll be able to see the damage much closer then if Merlin examined the book on the outside."
Sora didn't give me a chance to counter as he yanked me forward to Donald and he opened the storybook for us. "Sora, Sakura may have a point--" Goofy started.
"Cover for us, okay?" Sora interrupted as the pages began to glow, sucking us into the book.
Sora and I became miniaturized as we landed on the pages of the open storybook. I looked around on all the drawings on the page. Everything seemed fine-no damage so far. Sora ran straight to the drawing of Pooh's house and immediately the surroundings began to change as the drawing on the page enlarged, becoming more life-like as the background became bigger and bigger until we were in front of Pooh's house. The home was simply a house within a tree with a door on the tree trunk, a stack mile-high of honey pots outside the door with Pooh sitting on the log outside his home, thinking deeply about something.
When Pooh saw his, he halted his thinking session as his face lit up. "Hey Pooh Bear!" Sora greeted as he crouched down. "How are you doing? Finding enough honey lately?"
"Oh, yes," Pooh smiled. "In fact, I was just about to do my stoutness exercises. Would you like to join me, Sora, Sakura?"
"Sure!" Sora nodded. "I'm game!"
Pooh jumped off the log but was then frozen in place. I tipped my head to the side. "Pooh Bear...?" I asked, reaching out to touch him.
Some sort of force pushed us both back and we screamed. The scenery around us was a blur of colors until Sora and I popped right out of the book and landed on some books, knocking them over. "Ow..." Sora muttered.
The storybook sat on Merlin's desk as it closed itself. I glared at Sora, "Does THAT answer your question if anything was wrong?"
"Sora!" Donald cried from outside. "Sakura! Hurry up!
"Donald?" I said as we got up, running outside to see what was up.
Outside, we saw a horde of Shadow Heartless gathering outside Merlin's house while Donald and Goofy were pushing back the army with their attacks. "Did you two bring the book, Sora and Sakura?" Goofy asked.
Sora turned back to Merlin's house to see a few Soldier Heartless run out, carrying the book in their claws. "Hey!' Sora shouted as he ran after the Soldier Heartless.
"Give that back!" Donald yelled as he, Goofy, and I joined the chase.
Sora swiped at the Soldier Heartless that was carrying the storybook and it flew in the air. Donald, Goofy and I quickly took out the others, which was easy since they were one of the lesser Heartless.Once they were all gone, the book laid on the ground, the cover slightly torn. Sora picked it up. "Think it's okay?" He gulped.
"Gwarsh, maybe you and Sakura better go back and make sure Pooh's all right," Goofy suggested.
"But what happened Merlin?" Donald asked.
"Well, I guess we could explain..." Goofy muttered.
"Great!" Sora nodded as he handed the book back to Donald. He opened the book back up and a glowing bright light filled the page, sucking us in, and shrinking us down so we could interact with the drawings within the book.
Sora and I quickly headed back over to pooh's house, the scenery around us quickly growing bigger and life-like as we found Pooh where he once was on the log, in deep thought. I reopened the book and entered it once again. "Pooh!" Sora called as we quickly approached him. "I'm so glad you're okay, Pooh."
"And I'm glad you cane to visit," Pooh replied. "But you see, I was just about to begin my stoutness exercises. Perhaps we could visit a bit later...Somebodies-I-Don-t-Know."
...Excuse me, "Somebodies-I-Don't-Know"? "Uh...okay?" I hesitantly responded as Pooh jumped off his log and began to bend down to touch his feet and get back up to balance on his right leg. He did the stretch again and balanced on his left feet, and repeated the exercise, alternating the foot that which he stood on. "So...how's Piglet these days?"
"I don't think I know anyone by that name," Pooh remarked. "Now where was I? Oh, yes. My stoutness exercises."
"Hey!" Sora said. "Pooh?" Pooh ignored him as he continued his stoutness exercise. Sora crossed his arms in deep though. "Something is very weird is happening here," He remarked.
"Oh?" I sarcastically replied. "You think? Maybe we'd better go back and ask Merlin about this."
The scenery around us changed once again and we were back in Merlin's house. Merlin was there as Donald and Goofy explained the situation. Once he heard us, he turned around and sighed, "Couldn't be bothered for the old wizard to come home, eh?"
"Sorry about that..." Sora apologized.
"How are things in there?" Merlin asked as he approached the book sitting on his desk.
"Well..." Sora started. "Pooh seems to have forgotten all about us. and not just us-all his other friends, too."
"I was afraid of that..." Merlin shook his head. He opened the book and examined the damage that was done. it was then that I realized that all the other illustrations snide the book were gone except for the one of Pooh's house. "I suspect it has something to do with the Heartless who damaged the book? I will have to repair this by hand with my own magic." He shut the book and turned back to us. "This book is one of this world's prized elements," He explained. "I've been meaning to tell Leon that I had found it but perhaps we should keep it between us for now."
After leaving Merlin's house, we headed into town square. As soon as we entered, we saw a man with earrings, spiky blond hair, silver earrings, and black clothing. He leaned against a building, arms crossed, and eyes closed. "Oh, Cloud!" Sora waved at him.
He looked up at us and down again. "Whatcha doing?" Donald asked.
"I'll get him," he muttered. He was talking to himself. He noticed our presence, but didn't acknowledge it. "This time we'll settle it. Me, and the one who embodies all the darkness in me."
"I thought you looked kinda different, Cloud," Donald said.
"If I do, it's his fault." Cloud grumbled.
"Whose?" I tipped my head to the side.
"Sephiroth," Cloud replied curtly. "Tell me if you see him."
"Okay," Sora nodded. "What does he look like?"
"Long silver hair," Cloud described. "Carries a long sword."
"Will do," Sora nodded. "Best seeing you, Cloud."
"Be careful," Cloud warned. "He messes with your head, makes you think darkness is the only way."
"Is something wrong?" A voice asked. We all looked over to see it was Aerith.
"Uhhh...." Sora stammered as Aerith walked up to Cloud and looked at him.
"It's nothing," Cloud coolly responded as Areith leaned in close to examine him. "I don't want you involved."
Areith had a thoughtful expression on her face. "You mean you don't want me there when you go away again?" She pointed out.
"I just...listen, even if I go far away, I'll come back," Cloud said.
"Do you mean it?" Areith raised a brow.
"Yeah," Cloud looked away.
"See?" Areith sighed. "You don't look so sure. Well, okay, I understand. Go-get things settled."
"Huh?" Cloud asked.
"No matter how far away you are...once you find your light...I'm sure it will you lead you back here. Right?" Areith assured.
"I suppose," Cloud shrugged.
"So I'll stay here-and I'll cheer for you-okay, Cloud?" Areith stated.
"Okay," Cloud nodded as he turned and left the town square, leaving us and Areith, who had her arms crossed.
"Wonder he'll be okay," she thought.
"He'll be alright," Sora reassured her. "I'm sure there's some light in him somewhere."
"You're right," Areith smiled.
We then head over to the Hallow Bastion Restoration Committee base to check up on everyone there. Cid was in front of the computer and Yuffie stood by him, watching the screen. They turned around when they heard us entering the house. "Hey, fellas-you're just in time," Cid smiled. "Got some good news for ya, so get yourself over to Leon's."
"What kind of news?" Sora asked.
"We found the computer Ansem was using!" Yuffie cheered.
"Oh boy!" Donald cheered.
"Yep," Cid nodded. "Should should be able to get all sorts of info on the Heartless and the Organization."
"And maybe something on the dark realm, too?" Sora said. "It looks like that's where Riku and Kairi are."
Being reminded of Kairi being kidnapped brought a wave of guilt over me as I recalled with shame our argument we had. Our last words to each other were full of spite, and I wanted to undo that damage. "And the King," Donald added.
"Go see for yourselves!" Cid ushered us to leave.
"It can't hurt!" Yuffie shrugged.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Nothin'," Cid brushed it off. "Just get to the computer room through the castle posters.
We started walking to the castle. Once we were in the underpass underneath the bridge, we heard something. "Excuse me," a voice said. "Are you with the Restoration Committee?"
We turned around but there was nobody around here. "Who's there?" Donald asked.
"Here!" The voice shouted again. Three tiny floating girls appeared in front of us. One had silver hair, another with brown hair, and the third one had blonde hair.
"What's Leon's gang up to today?" The blonde asked.
"They've got stuff to do over by the castle posters," Sora replied.
"Scoop!" The blonde shouted.
"Huh?" We asked.
"Let's report," Silver haired replied.
"To who?" Donald asked.
"Our leader, of course!" Brunette grinned.
"Yeah, you know to Mal--" the blonde was going to say something but silver haired covered her mouth. We all tipped our heads to the side and eyed them suspiciously.
"Don't mind her," silver haired shrugged. "I assure you, we come in peace."
"You're kidding," Brunette rolled her eyes.
"Problem?" Silver haired release the blonde. "Okay, fine. You do the talking." She teleported away, dispersing in a swirl of light.
"So sorry about this!" The brunette bowed while apologizing as she teleported away also. The blonde gave us a peace sign before leaving.
We were slightly confused, but shrugged it off and continued on. We arrived at the restoration sight where the castle loomed above us, huge and empty. I felt lonely looking at the fortress.
"Leon!" Sora yelled.
"Over here!" A voice responded. Looking to the side, we saw Areith waving at us on the balcony by the entrance, telling us to come over.
We approached her and Sora asked, "You guys found Ansem's computer?"
"Uh-huh," Areith nodded. "The King is very interested in it."
"The King?" Donald repeated.
"He's with Leon," Areith informed.
"We get to see the King!" Donald shouted.
"Hooray!" Goofy cheered.
"Er...is Riku with him?" Sora asked. Areith shook her head no. "Well, at least I can ask the King about him. And that computer might be able to tell us something."
"Good idea!" Areith smiled. "They're right through there."
Entering the castle, and we walked down another corridor and arrived at a small library. There were bookshelves against the wall and a huge circular table with papers scattered about in the surface along with a tipped over glove. To the side there was a huge blown up drawing of the human body with certain parts circled and text surrounding it. At the center of the research room was a giant painting of a man with tan skin, golden eyes, long silver hair, and he wore a white lab coat with a neutral expression on his face. "Ansem..." Sora muttered.
"Gwarsh, I guess this must be his room," Goofy looked around.
"Where's the King?" Donald asked.
"Hello?" Sora called, hoping maybe the King was here.
"Hey, you!" A female voice replied. We jumped, not expecting someone sounding like that responding to Sora's call.
We turned around and at the entrance of the library was a woman with long black hair, black gloves, black clothing, and black boots, looking around. "I'm looking for somebody," she explained. "Has anyone seen a guy with spiky hair?" I looked at Sora and reached over, grabbing a tuff of his hair and gently pulling it while looking back at the woman. "Spikier," she laughed, seeing his vague her description was. We shook our heads no. "I'll take a look around," the woman said. The woman looked at the table, examined the bookshelves, and listened to the walls. She kicked it, making us jump. Once she was finished, she smiled, "Sorry to bother you."
"No ma'am!" Sora, Donald, and Goofy stood up straight, afraid to make her mad. She laughed and left the room, closing the door behind her. We all sighed with relief, glad the strange woman was gone.
"So you made it," a voice remarked.
We turned around to see Leon leaning up against the wall. I raised a brow. I swore he wasn't there earlier. "Leon!" Sora cried. Leon nodded with acknowledgement as he got off the wall. "Isn't the King with you?" Sora asked.
Leon brought a finger to his lips, indicating for us to keep quiet and drop the subject. "You'll see him soon enough," he responded.
"Hey!" Donald yelled.
"Here, this ought to tide you over," Leon turned around and placed a hand on the wall. The area where his hand was glowed in a rectangular shape before consuming a portion of a wall, revealing a corridor with metal walls. We jumped at seeing that. "Ansem's computer room," Leon explained.
We followed him through the corridor. There was a giant keyboard and a monitor above it, and across from the computer, there was a circular piece of glowing metal on a wall With a red circle in the center. "This is it!" Sora yelled, running up to it. "Where's Kairi? Where's Riku?" He asked the computer, pressing some buttons. When he got no answers, he began smashing the keys.
"Easy..." Leon said. "You want to break it?"
"Oh, sorry," Sora apologized. "Guess I got a little carried away."
Goofy yelped and pointed at the ceiling. We looked up and there, on the ceiling, was a blue, dog-like critter. He lost its balance and fell down onto the computer. "Get offa there!" Donald shouted, jumping onto the computer.
The dog-creature jumped off as soon as Donald jumped on the computer and bounced off Donald before landing on the floor and scampering away. Donald stomped before stepping on the keys as he turned around to see where it went, suddenly, a loud, shrieking alarm came off. "Attention current user." A deep voice said. "This is a warning. Further misuse of this terminal will result in immediate defensive action."
"Who's there?" Sora asked.
"I am the Master Computer Program," the voice responded. "I oversee this system."
"Where are you?" Sora said.
Donald took another step on the keyboard as he tried to get off and the alarm went off again. "Donald!" We all shouted as Leon facepalmed in the back.
"I'm sorry..." He apologized.
"Decision gate reached," the voice said again. "You are now under arrest."
"Arrest?!" Sora cried,Goofy lifted Donald up off the computer. The red circle in the circular metal began to glow. That didn't look good. "Run!!!" Leon and I screamed.
Too late.
Two beams of light shot out from the giant red hole and hit Sora, Donald, and Goofy. They looked away, expecting the worst. The laser froze them in place as it turned their bodies into cubes of data. To our horror, the laser began to run over them, disintegrating them as they passed. As soon as they were completely disintegrated, a huge glow of light came from the red circle and we looked away. Once the light show stopped, we looked and saw that Sora, Donald, and Goofy were gone. I saw a picture of them appear on the monitor in the position they were in last with some text underneath. Something about being arrested.
Leon and I stood there in stunned silence, unsure of what to do next. Then, I did something that was appropriate to this situation.
I freaked the heck out.
I began to scream as I ran to the computer and examine it, the screen still displaying he same thing. "Sora! Donald! Goofy!" I shrieked. "Can you hear me? Are you alright? What's going on?"
I began to be like Sora whenever we visited the outside worlds, bombarding whoever we met with questions about a Riku, the King, the Organization , the Heartless. "Um....Control Z to undo, right...?" I muttered, looking at the huge mass of keys in front of me. "Nah, screw it, I'm going in for the kill," I summoned my Keyblade and flipped it over as I held the blade and had the hilt on top of me as I prepared to bring it down to destroy this thing, but Leon grabbed my wrist and yanked me away from the tech.
"Are you out of your mind?" He shouted. "Did you see what happened to them? Do you want the same to happen to you?"
"But...maybe...I could get them out--" I stammered, still hysterical.
"Listen, this computer is obviously a lot more complicated than we thought," Leon explained, trying to calm me down. "The best we can do is stand and wait. If they don't come out, I'll run and grab Cid and see if he can figure this stuff out."
"O-Okay..." I sighed, finally calming down. "Thanks, Leon."
Leon and I stood there, far away from the computer, staring at the screen still displaying the same picture and message and began to play the waiting game. I didn't know how long Leon wanted to wait before we went to get help, but we waited.
Suddenly, the red circle behind us glowed and a laser came out of it. It went downwards, forming data cubes in the shapes of Sora, Donald, and Goofy. A red laser came out and highlighted the cubes, reshaping Sora, Donald, and Goofy in the position they were in before they got sucked in. Leon and I stared in disbelief at what we just witnessed.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy began to feel themselves. "We did it!" Sora cheered.
I grinned, "I had no doubt you figure a way out of that."
"Yeah right," Leon snorted. "Five minutes ago you were in a panic attack and you were prepared to risk getting sucked in just to rescue them."
"Hey!" I shouted, glaring at Leon for exposing my wounded pride.
Sora laugh, "Sakura? Freaking out about us? I'll believe it when I see it!"
"You better!" I teased him.
"Anyways, where have you been?" Leon cut in to our argument.
"Well, uh..." Sora starred, crossing his arms as he began to think. Leon came up to him. "There's a...world inside this computer, where these, um...programs live, and..." Sora stated. He began to explain what they had saw while they were "arrested" and inside that computer.
"So, in other words, Ansem's research data is off-limits unless we know the password," Leon restated.
"I think that's right," Sora replied unsurely.
"But you've already defeated Ansem..." Leon reminded.
"Gawrsh, maybe we'll never find the password," Goofy said.
"That means...this is all a wild goose chase," Leon sighed with frustration.
"You're chasing what now?" A female voice asked. We turned to see the woman in black we encountered in the study earlier. She had her hands on her hips. "Well, well!" She grinned. "A hidden room! Guess I'd better take another look around."
She walked back where she came from and Sora, Donald, Goofy and I bolted after her. Once we reached the study, she already overturned the tables and was even lifting up bookshelves and shaking them, making its contents fall onto the ground. "She just won't give up..." Sora laughed nervously as he placed his arms behind his head.
"What even is she looking for?" I muttered.
"And neither will we!" Donald yelled.
"C'mon!" Goody encouraged. "We'd gotta look for that password!"
"Right," Sora nodded. "We made a promise to Tron."
"Tron?" I asked. "Who's Tron?"
"He's a program we met while inside the computer," Goofy explained.
"Ah, I see," I replied as we came up behind the woman. She was eyeing the portrait of Ansem. She tipped her head to the side. "'Scuse me," She said as she lifted the portrait off the wall. We all took a step back as he leaned the portrait against the wall next to where it just to hang. Behind the portrait were some doodles and drawings that were mostly smeared off due to age. She brushed her hands, staring at the scribbles and punched the wall, making it shake and dust to come off. Once nothing happened, she turned around and sighed, giving us a shrug as she walked away.
We walked up to the doodles and gave them a closer look. In the center was a drawing of a heart surrounded by shapes of some sort, each with a label and a explanation of what they were. Above it was a mostly rubbed off title of what the notes of have been on.
"What's this doodle?" Sora asked.
Donald began read the nearly illegible words, "Hollow...Main...Security...Tron...Door to..." He squinted at the last part, trying to make out what it was.
"Looks like a diagram or something'," Goofy observed.
"Door...to...darkness?" Donald finished.
"Oh!" Sora cried, pointing at the letters of what Donald just read aloud. "D-T-D!"
"DTD!" They all cried.
"What?" I asked, clearly lost. It must be part of whatever this "Tron" program that they were talking about earlier.
"What's up?" Leon asked as he entered the study.
"Look at this!" Sora said. "This must be the dataspace! The DTD. See? The Door To Darkness!"
Leon came up and examined the drawing, "What do you know. But...that still leaves the password."
"Say, fellas, did somebody mention the Door To Darkness?" A voice asked.
We turned around to see King Mickey in a Organization cloak. "Your Majesty!" We all cried.
King Mickey placed a finger to his lips, shushing us as he looked behind him and closed the open door behind us. I rolled my eyes. "With those ears of yours sticking out, us being quiet ain't fooling anyone," I remarked.
Donald jumped on him and gave him a hug while Goofy scooped the both of them up into a hug. "Long time no see!" Sora waved.
"Shhh!" King Mickey shushed us again, looking around. "The Organization might be listening!" Sora remembered the danger the King carried around with him and placed a finger over his lips, nodding in acknowledgment. Goofy put the two down and Donald released King Mickey and he looked around one more time before focusing back on us. "You mentioned the the Door to Darkness?"
"Uh, yes, sir!" Goofy stammered as he and Donald stood tall in front of their king. "Ya see, we're lookin' for the secret password."
"Password?" King Mickey asked. Sora, Donald, and Goofy dropped their heads in defeat, as the King appeared to not have a single clue of what's going on. "Oh, you mean like a secret code!" He nodded. Leon let out a puff of air before smirking and I snickered, putting a hand over my face to hide it. "Well, the Door to Darkness can only be opened by the seven princesses. There's Snow White, Belle, Jasmine..."
"Of course," Leon said as he walked back into the computer room.
"What're you tryin' to do?" He asked.
"With that password, we can get access to Ansem's research data," Sora explained.
"So that means you might be able to find out where he is!" He grinned.
"Stop jokin' around, Your Majesty," Sora laughed. "We already defeated Ansem. You know that."
King Mickey paused, looking confused but then remembered something before smiling, "Looks like I've got a lot of explainin' to do."
"We're listening, Your Majesty!" Donald and Goofy straightened out once more.
"Okay...but first, I've got a question..." Sora started.
"Hey, isn't Tron waiting for you three?" Leon interrupted, reappearing inside the study.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy looked at him, then at the King, and back at Leon again. "Don't worry, I'm not goin' anywhere," King Mickey assured. "If those Heartless attack, I'll stand and fight with everybody here."
"Yeah...we will, too," Sora nodded.
"Then let's talk more later," he stated.
"That's a promise!" Donald said.
King Mickey nodded, "I'll see ya when you get back."
We all went back t the computer room where Sora glanced down at the keyboard, lost at what to press. But, I patted his shoulder. "Hey, Sora," I told him. "I'll sit this one out. Just get back inside there and do what you have to do. I stay here and watch the computer for any changes. If you need help in there, call me, okay? And If something happens out here and I see it, I'll call you, alright?"
"Good idea," Sora nodded.
Sora pressed a random key and a window popped up, asking if they like to be transported to the Pit Cell. Sora clicked the button highlighted "YES" and the metal circle outlined glowed, giving off waves of green as it broke down Sora, Donald, and Goofy into data and sucked them inside.
I leaned on the keyboard, pressing my hand on the table as I scanned the monitor for any changes. "Anything?" A voice asked.
I turned to see Leon behind me. "Oh, nothing happened," I replied. "Did you leave? I didn't hear you leave or come in."
"Yeah," Leon nodded. "I went to check up with the rest of the town."
Suddenly, the monitor changed. I brought my attention back to it, thinking something happened. The entire screen turned orange and pixelated versions of Sora, Donald, and Goofy appeared as the three figures performed a walking animation with the words "THANK YOU" appearing across the monitor. Curious, Leon and I came over to investigate the change when the red circle on the metal circular playing behind us glowed and Leon and I turned around to see the reverse of what sucked Sora, Donald and Goofy into there put them all back together again.
"Well, that's that," Sora grinned as he approached us.
"Look," Leon smiled as he pointed to the monitor, still displaying that message.
Sora stared at the message, a look of concern appearing in his eyes. "Tron...hang in there," Sora muttered.
"So, where do we start?" I asked.
"I know!" Sora said. "Let's access the DTD!"
Leon began typing away on the computer, "The King's checking the situation in town. He'll be back soon, so don't worry." The message had disappeared and windows displaying images and text appeared. "Hey, it's asking for a password."
"That's easy," Goofy said. "It's..."
"Sora!" Sora said. Leon nodded as he began to type away.
"Donald!" Donald added.
"Goofy!" Goofy finished.
"That's...to the point," Leon muttered.
"Well?" Sora asked as he came up to the monitor.
"That did it," Leon smiled as more windows displaying text that went by so fast I didn't have the time to read or process it all. "We're in. I have to go into town. Need to see what that shakeup did."
"You're not gonna check out the data?" Sora cried. "It wasn't exactly easy to get!"
"I'm coming right back," Leon assured as he glanced back at the monitor once more. "Hey Sora-why don't you get started on loading the data and copying it down?" Sora looked confused, not knowing what to do. "Don't worry-its just a few keystrokes. Easy, right?" Leon patted Sora's shoulder as he left the computer room to do this thing.
Sora slowly approached the computer, staring down at the keys in front of him before slowly lifting his head up to stare at the monitor once more. He brought his hand up as if he was going to press a key but hesitated, not knowing what to press. "Did it work?" Donald interrupted Sora's focus.
"Hey, these things take time!" Sora snapped. Sora then turned back around and started typing slowly on the keyboard, one key at a time. Suddenly, a window open with the text asking us to input in what we want to know with a key flickering in the search bar. "Hey, it's doing something!" Sora lit up, glad something happened.
"I think it wants us to tell it what we want to know," I said.
"Riku and Kairi!" Sora began to spell their names out into the search bar. There was a loading screen appearing of a circle spinning before the text "DATA ERROR" appeared on screen. "No way..." Sora whispered in disbelief. "Even Ansem's computed doesn't know..."
Sora slumped as he walked away from the computer as Goofy took over, typing at a much faster rate than Sora. "Watcha doing?" Donald asked.
"I thought I'd ask the computer if it can tell us about them Nobodies," Goofy explained as he typed.
As soon as Goofy stopped typing, the buffering screen appeared and a window with a lot of text and the Organization symbol appeared don it. "What's this?l Sora asked, coming back up to the computer once more.
Suddenly, the familiar text of "DATA ERROR" appeared once more. "The data is corrupt," the computer spike to us.
Donald cried out in confusion. "How about the Organization?" Goofy furiously began typing once more. The buffering screen appeared again. "There!" Goofy smiled. After a few seconds of rotating, the text appeared again along with the computer telling us the data is corrupt.
"Stupid computer!" Sora shouted as he shoved Goofy aside and slammed his hands all over the keyboard, making the windows in front of us go lopsided and upside down.
"Sora!" I snapped as I grabbed by the ear and yanked him back.
Sora hissed in pain as he slammed down on the keyboard one more time before a window appeared in front of us. It was a man with pale skin, slicked back blonde hair and a blonde beard with his arms behind his back as he wore a robe with a red scarf. "Who's this guy?" Sora asked, now stopping his assault on the computer.
"Welp, I see ya got things workin'!" A voice said behind us.
We all whipped around to see King Mickey, concealed in a black coat standing behind us. "Oh, Your Majesty!" We all cried as we bowed in front of him. The King jumped back as he placed a finger over his lips as he approached the computer. "Good goin'," he smiled. "The computer should tell us the thing we need to know."
"But it keeps on sayin' the data inside's is all ker-skuffled," Goofy explained.
"Corrupted," I corrected.
"What she said," Sora pointed his thumb as me. "All we got is a picture of some guy we don't know."
King Mickey eyed the monitor a bit more closely before jumping, "Ansem the Wise!"
We all looked at each other with confusion. Even though I only saw Ansem for a short amount of time, I did not remember him looking that young or pale. "Come on, are you teasing us again?" Sora sighed.
"Did you forget what Ansem looked like, Your Majesty?" Donald asked.
"Of course I do!" King Mickey insisted. "And this is him! I'm positive!"
Donald cried out in confusion. "Excuse me?" Sora cut in, grabbing King Mickey by the hand and dragging him away with him. "Could you come this way, please?"
We took King Mickey back to the study that lead to the computer room and showed him the giant portrait of Ansem that stood inside there. "Look, THIS is Ansem," Sora showed the painting to the King. "You know, the guy we all worked reeeally hard to defeat?"
"Oh, that's right-I never finished explaining," King Mickey said. "Well, the man in the picture is definitely the one who tried to take over Kingdom Hearts-the one you fellas defeated. But, what you actually fought was his Heartless. Ya see, he wasn't really Ansem. He just went around telling everybody that he was."
We all stood there, professing the new information that was given to us. "You mean..." Donald started.
We all glanced at each other before crying out "Whaaaat?" causing King Mickey to jump into the air from the sudden noise.
"We went through all that trouble to defeat an imposter?" Sora whined as he slumped over, his efforts being in vain.
"Yep," King Mickey nodded. "A fake. But he still had to be stopped."
"Aw, I can't believe it..." Donald muttered.
"Uh, I'm kinda confused," Goofy said. "If he's a fake, then what happened to the real Ansem?"
"Welp, that's what I'm tryin' to figure out," King Mickey informed. "Ansem the Wise should know all about Organization XIII's plans, and what's been happening to the worlds. I'm pretty sure he'll give us some help. Ya know, I came close to finding him once..."
"Don't tell me there's more?" Sora groaned. "I'm lost enough as it is!"
"Just break it down and it'll make sense," I began to recap the new information given to us. "Some dude named Ansem, who also isn't Ansem, became a Heartless. Got that?" Sora nodded slowly, processing the information as I broke it down to explain it to him. "According to that piece of information given to us, he has a Nobody running around in this universe with us as well."
"Yup!" King Mickey nodded. "And that Nobody is the leader of the Organization."
"Whaaaat?" We all cried out once more, not expecting what the Ling just told us."
"I know I've met this fake Ansem before, and I've seen the leader of Organization XIII, too," King Mickey informed. "Hmm kinda felt like bein' around the same fella."
"So, where did you meet this guy?" Sora asked.
"Gosh," King Mickey crossed his arms and sighed. "I can't remember. Ansem the Wise, the real Ansem-must know the imposter's true identity. That's why I've got to find him and ask him about it."
"You!" Sora glared at the painting. "You started all of this! Because of you, Riku and Kairi..." Suddenly, Sora remembered something. "Your Majesty, do you know where Riku is?"
"He's..." King Mickey took a deep breath as I struggled to keep a straight face. "I'm sorry. I can't help."
Sora stared at the King Mix,year for a few moments before coming up beside him. "Really, Your Majesty?" Sora asked, not buying that excuse. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sorry, Sora," King Mickey turned so his back faced Sora.
"What about Kairi?" Sora asked another question. "Organization XIII might've kidnapped her."
"Oh, no!" King Mickey cried, turning back around to face Sora. He looked back at the painting once more. "Sora, Donald, Goofy, Sakura, I was plannin' to get help from Ansem the Wise. But-now I know I forgot the most important thing. Helping others should always come before asking others for help. We're safe and sound-and free to choose! So there's no reason we shouldn't choose to help our friends." We all nodded in unanimous agreement. "Let's look for Riku and Kairi together."
Suddenly, the entire building began to shake as we struggled to keep our balance. "It's coming from outside!" I cried.
"Sounds like we gotta start by helpin' out here!" King Mickey clenched his fists in determination as he ran outside of the study and we followed close behind.
