Chapter XIV

"Man, kids these days. They think it's a competition to have the most friends. One is enough. Find someone completely unique." ~Yato (Noragami)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
We entered Twilight Town to check up on what's going on. As we were walking around, someone dressed with a jean jacket, black shirt, and a giant leather witch hat so big that we couldn't see its face ran by us. "H-Help!" They begged. "The Sandlot! It's Seifer! Somebody please help us!"

"Sounds like we've got trouble!" Sora said,

"Well, there's our first task," I shrugged.

We ran over to the Sandlot to see three teenagers collapsed in the cluster of a group of Dusks with a blue bat that I assumed they used as a means to defend themselves. Between the cluster of Dusks and the collapsed teenagers stood three more teenagers that appeared to be our age, if not, older than us.

One was a female with blonde hair with a black highlight and had orange eyes. She wielded a Keyblade, with the weapon being a light goldish yellow. The guard was rectangular but curved at the top, the rod looked like a sword and had small bits sticking out near the guard and it had a star charm. The blade was a crescent shape that had three more teeth-like blades that looked like a sun.

Next to the girl was a boy who looked very similar to her, with blonde hair cat-like purple eyes. They could be siblings. He wielded two dark grey daggers that were the length of his forearm with the handles were black designed with dark purple symbols.

There was another girl who looked like a spitting image of me, with black hair and blue eyes. The girl wielded not one, but two Keyblades. One was was black and had what looked like clawed hands up and down the rod, the teeth looked like antenna off a heartless with a fleur di leis in between the antenna, and the guard around her hand was shaped like a heart with a chain hung off the end. The second Keyblade one was silver with an intricately worked rod, the teeth were gold and the shape of a crown with a heart worked into the design, and the guard was also gold and shaped like a heart.

I ran to the middle towards the collapsed teenagers and shook them all awake. "Hey! Get up!" I shouted. "We're here to help! Run, now!"

The three got up. The blonde with a beanie, the dark-skinned boy in basketball clothing and a girl with short, light-blue hair, all ran off. The seven of us had our weapons drawn and faced the Dusks in front of us. "If only these were the Heartless, then we could've easily have solved this problem already..." I heard the boy mutter.

"Shush!" The girl with blonde hair shushed the male.

The Dusks were easy to handle but then another new type of Nobodies arrived. I didn't know what kind they were, but I got a feeling I knew who commanded them. They had giant claymores and they were swinging them around, trying to hit us.

One slammed the club onto the ground and send out a shock wave, knocking us back. Gritting my teeth, I summoned my Keyblade, jumped into the air, and landed a blow on the Nobody. It blocked my blow with its club but I kicked its face and it flew back. Sora began beating up one of the Nobodies while Goofy was throwing his shield at another one and Donald was healing Goofy.

The three that accompanied us in our fighting proved to be competent. The boy threw his daggers at the Nobody, the dagger hitting between its presumed eyes and as it disappeared, the boy summoned his dagger back into his hands before moving onto the next one. The blonde girl leapt in the air and brought her Keyblade down onto the Nobody. Discount Sakura spun as she dashed forward, destroying two Nobodies in her wake with a spinning attack. All the Nobodies were gone without much of a fight.

As we dispelled our weapons, Sora and I turned to the boy and two girls that assisted us in fighting. "Wow, you all are great!" I smiled.

"Thanks," the blonde girl smiled sheepishly.

"What are your names?" Sora asked.

"I'm Y," the blonde girl introduced herself as she swung her arm around the boy's neck. "An this is my brother, X."

"Hey," X gave us a small wave as he peeled Y's arm off of him.

"You two look almost identical," Donald pointed out.

"That's because we're twins," they both stated in sync.

"WHOA!!!" We all shouted.

"That's so cool!" Sora grinned

"Who's older?" Goofy asked.

"Me," Y thumbed at herself, grinning with a look of pride on her eyes.

"You're not that much older than me," X rolled his eyes. "It's only three minutes."

"Three minutes, three seconds, three hours, who cares?" Y threw her arms up in a exaggerated manner. "I'm still older than you ether way."

The black haired girl placed a hand on her chest. "My name is--" she started.

"Wait, let me guess!" Sora raised his hands. "So you're X," Sora pointed at X and he nodded. "And you're Y," Sora gestured at Y and she smiled and waved. "So, by that logic, you must be Z!" Sora made finger guns and pointed at the black-haired girl.

She deadpanned at Sora. "No, I'm Yuki," she blinked.

"Oh..." Sora muttered sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Anyways, what are your names?" Yuki asked us.

"I'm Sora!" Sora thumbed at himself.

"Donald Duck!" Donald crossed his arms and gave a smuglook.

"Goofy too," Goofy gave the trio a friendly wave.

"And I'm Sakura," I smiled.

Now that we weren't fighting, I took, a good look at everyone's outfits. Y wore white shorts with a gold belt, a white tank top with a black feather on the front, and black socks that reached her knees with shoes. X wore a black shirt with a white swirling pattern on the side and a black short-sleeved jacket over top with purple Xs on either shoulder. Two purple belts hung lopsided on his hips, one above the jacket and one with black pants and a purple belt around his left thigh. And finally, Yuki wore a black tank top with a white off the shoulder crop top jacket with a red hood along with a black choker and a chain that held the paopu fruit charm around her neck, black jeans with a red belt around her hips and two red belts crossed like an x on her left thigh holding a small white pouch, and tall boots that reaches her knees.

Out of the three, X's outfit caught my attention the most. His outfit was completely black, unlike his sister who wore all white or Yuki who wore both colors, but his was just black and some other dark colors. I burst out laughing. "What's so funny?" X asked.

"It's...just your outfit!" I giggled. "It looks like the definition of a supreme edge lord!"

"Well, you're one to talk," X grinned mischievously. "You look like you just walked out of school."

I grasped my heard in a over dramatic manner and made a just as dramatic offended face at X's comment, but I didn't take any offense in what he said. All of us here were fashion disasters in a way, so no one could really make fun of another's choice of clothing. "Gawrsh, now I think about it, Yuki and Sakura sure do look alike," Goofy pointed out.

"I know, right?" I agreed.

"Maybe you're both secret twins?" Y proposed.

Remembering back to all the Maleficent nonsense, I sighed, not wanting to go through all of that again. "No!" Yuki insisted.

"How would you know?" X pointed out. "You don't even remember your past."

"Hey, neither does Saki!" Sora said. "One more thing to add to the list of similarities."

"I mean, you could be her clone, or a replica!" Y stated.

We all laughed at the joke, enjoying each other's company. Unfortunately, it seems around here that joy never lasts long. "Impressive," a voice commented.

A Corridor of Darkness appeared and someone in a black Organization coat stepped out from the portal. Immediately sensing danger, all seven of us drew our Keyblades, daggers, staff and shield, preparing for a fight. "By the way, have you seen a man named Axel? I expect that's he's here somewhere." He asked. The voice sounded awfully familiar.

Wait a second. I knew that voice. A brief memory of a man with long blue hair, an X-shaped scar on his forehead, pointed eyes, and piercing yellow eyes flashed through my head. "Like I care," Sora sneered.

"You see, Axel's no longer acting in our best interest," the man replied.

"Is he with the Organization too?" Goofy asked.

"Yes," the man nodded.

"You two havin' a fight?" Donald added.

"Not a very organized Organization..." Sora commented.

"Don't let your guard down," He growled, pointing a finger at us. "Axel will stop at nothing to turn all of you into the Heartless. Though, for some of us here, that will not be necessary."

"Gee, thanks for looking out for us, mister," Sora rolled his eyes. "But I'm sure we all can take care of ourselves just fine."

"Glad to hear it," the man stated. "Axel aside, it would break our hearts for something bad to happen to all of you."

"Hearts?!" Donald laughed. "You guys don't have hearts!"

"True, we don't have hearts..." the man muttered, taking off his hood and flipping his blue hair, revealing himself to be Saïx as I thought. I gritted my teeth and gripped my Keyblade tighter, becoming more defensive. "But we remember how it was like. That's what makes us special."

"Whaddaya mean?" Goofy asked as Saïx opened a Corridor of Darkness behind him.

"We know very well how to injure a heart," Saïx stated. "Sora, Sakura, you two keep on fighting the Heartless. Also, X, Y, Yuki, you treacherous rouge members-I will alert the Lady of the Shadows of your presence and she will not be pleased. Do not forget who you originally belonged to and turned your backs on."

"Let's jump in after him!" Sora whispered.

"Don't!" I whisper-yelled.

"How come?" Donald asked.

"I'm not sure, but maybe he'll lead us to the Organization's world," Sora presented his plan.

As he heard Sora's plan, Saïx smirked, "Don't be reckless. You don't want to be like Riku."

"WHAT?!" Sora yelled.

Saïx walked into the portal backwards and closed it. "Hey, wait!" Sora cried as he ran up to the portal. He was gone. It was like he never came. "What did he mean, end up like Riku?" Sora wondered.

I shrugged. "Don't know," I lied through my teeth. I turned my attention back to X, Y, and Yuki. "What did he mean by treacherous, rogue members? Did you all belong to a group ruled by 'the Lady of the Shadows'?" I asked.

The trio exchanged a nervous look. "Well..." Yuki started.

"Guess there's really no hiding it now," X sighed. "You see, we're all Heartless."

"WHAT?!" We all cried at once.

"Heartless?" Donald sputtered.

"Y'all don't look like one," Goofy scratched his head.

"Just like Nobodies, some of us can take on a false human appearance and can be smart like humans as well," Y explained. "As Heartless, we command the Heartless army and they bow down to us, as we are seen as superior to them thanks to this human facade. The three of us used to be part of an organization comprised of Heartless like us. It was called Organization 14."

"Wow, I really see the creativity there," I rolled my eyes.

"But, you guys are good, right?" Sora asked. "You all were part of an evil group, but you turned your backs on them for good reasons, right? I mean, you're helping us out right now, right?"

Yuki, X, and Y exchanged another look. "Can't really say it was for the greater good..." Yuki muttered.

"Let's say the reasons are more personal than 'good'," X stated.

"Can you tell us why you turned against them?" Sora said.

"Nope," Y shook her head and placed a finger over her lips. "Our secret."

"Hey, how 'bout you all get out of my town now?" A voice interrupted us. "You all have caused enough trouble."

We turned to see it was the trio of collapsed teenagers earlier that we rescued. I sniffed, "So much for being grateful for us. We saved your lives!"

"Riku..." Sora muttered, now remembering Saïx's words once more.

"Have it your way!" Donald shouted. "C'mon, guys."

"Hold it!" The voice said again, revealing it belonged to blonde beanie.

"Make up your mind!" Donald yelled.

Blonde beanie have us a trophy that stood on a mini brown wooden pedestal with a gold plate on it with a design of a fist holding up the bat that I saw by those three earlier. The trophy appeared to be a dark blue metal and shaped similar to a tree, with each curved "branch" having a red, blue, green and yellow bead attached to the end of it. "This goes to the strongest guy in Twilight Town," blonde beanie stated.

Sora pointed to himself in confusion. I whacked his head, "Yes, you!"

"Thanks, but...we don't really need it," Sora shook his head.

Blonde beanie didn't take no for an answer as he stormed right up to Goofy and shoved the trophy in his hand, causing him to stumble back and yelp as he struggled to hold onto the trophy being shoved into his arms. Blonde beanie have us one last smug look before leaving with his other friends that we saved earlier. "You're welcome!" I shouted at them, wanting to have the last word in this.

A slightly chubby boy in an oversized red shirt with a black design on it and white sleeves, jeans, red and white shoes with a blue and white hairband on his forehead that held up his black hair approached us. "Oh! Sora!" He cried.

We turned to the boy. "Pence, right?" Sora asked.

"Do you know a girl named Kairi?" Pence asked, ignoring Sora's question.

"K-Kairi?!" Sora stumbled.

"I sure do!" I cried, excited a the news as well before stopping myself, remembering that whole argument that lead me being involved with all that Castle Oblivion mess.

"Then you better come to the station!" Pence said as Sora nodded in excitement.

*~*~*~*~*~

We arrived at the Tram Common where two other teenagers were waiting for us. Pence introduced them as Hayner and Olette. Hayner wore baggy, camouflage-print capri pants with matching shoes with white tips, grey soles, and each has two intersecting, black belts in place of laces short, sleeveless, grey vest, a black muscle shirt decorated with a white, crudely-drawn skull and crossbones, a white necklace with a yellow "X" charm on it and a brown bracelet on his left wrist with several silver pins in it. Olette wore an orange tank-top with a white floral design at the bottom, khaki-colored capri pants, orange socks with white hems, cream shoes with black and yellow accents and black laces, a beaded, sky blue bracelet on her right wrist and a black necklace decorated with a spherical, sky blue charm.

"He-ey!" Hayner waved at us.

"Hey, so how do you guys know Kairi?" Sora asked excitingly.

Hayner and Olette exchanged a worried glance. "She said she was looking for you and another girl she called Saki," Hayner said.

"That's me," I raised my hand, flushing red. She despite that nasty spat, she still whey looking for me? I felt even more awful about the words I said to her, and I couldn't really blame her for everything anymore.

"Can you tell us where is she?" I asked calmly.

"Well...a portal opened up and some dude with the brightest red have I've ever seen and emerald eyes as well as two upside down teardrops on his cheeks came out of it, saying that this is where she ran of to, Hayner explained. "Pence and I tried to tackle him, but he dodged us and Olette tried to bash him with a baseball bat embedded with nails but he grabbed Kairi and took her through the portal before Olette could beat him up. We went looking all over Twilight Town for her, but no such luck. She just...disappeared."

Sora's face fell as he pulled out the good luck charm Kairi made him, "Kairi..." he whispered.

"Ya think it mighta been Axel?" Goody whispered in the back and Donald nodded in agreement.

"Sorry..." Hayner sheepishly apologized.

"Hey, it's not your fault," Sora assured. "C'mon, cheer up!" Sora faked a smile before slumping. "Like I can even say that..." he mumbled.

It was my fault this happened. I left the island without a single trace. She probably went looking for me got herself into trouble. And, I promised Sora I would protect her, so it made me feel worse. I wanted to cry, but I held it back. I couldn't cry. Not like this. Even with Kairi gone, it was going to take a lot more than her going missing to make me cry.

"I gotta help Kairi!" Sora yelled suddenly, scaring Goofy as he yelled and dropped the trophy, causing the four beads to fall off and roll away.

Hayner picked up the green one, Ollete picked up the yellow one, and Pence picked up the orange one. Sora picked up the blue one. "That was close!" Pence grinned. Sora looked at his curiously before holding it up at the setting sun. Goofy looked puzzled as he pulled out a munny pouch and took out a blue bead identical to the one Sora had and held it up at the setting sun. Hayner, Pence, Olette followed in suit and they all watched as the rays went through the glass bead.

Sora continued to stare at the sun through his head. "Sora?" Yuki asked.

"Sora!" Y shook him. "Are you okay?"

"Huh?" He snapped of out of his daze. "Wha...?"

"Don't be staring out in the sun too much," X snickered. "Can't have you frying your eyeballs out of your eye sockets."

Olette spotted the munny pouch in Goofy's hand and lifted her finger as she was about to point something out about it when suddenly, Sora's blue bead glowed and popped out of his hand. It floated up into the air. A giant crown appeared below us. On instinct, we pulled out our Keyblades at pointed it at the bead.

We were transported into another dimension. Sora and I pointed our Keyblades at the head and two light beams came out, piercing it. I was then pulled into my usual trance. I saw a giant colorful weaving with dark thread woven inside of it. I pointed my Keyblade at it and all the dark thread we've out of it and in its place was new, colorful thread. Once it was finished, I was pulled out of my trance.

"Wh-what just happened?" Pence asked as they approached us.

"A new road is open," I shrugged.

"And Kairi and Riku are wishing somewhere along it," Sora added.

"You'd better hurry, then," Olette said.

"You comin' back?" Hayner asked.

"Promise!" We all nodded.

"I think this is our cue to go," X cleared his throat. I turned to our new acquaintances.

"What?" Sora whined as we turned to our new trio of friends. "Are you sure you can't join us? If you're all on the run, it would help all of you if you came along with us."

"Sora!" Donald scolded, reminding Sora of the rules of meddling.

"No, it's alright," Y shook her head. "We're all are on our own journey of self-discovery. We'd only stand in the way for you guys. Besides, X and I know the rules."

"Are you guys gonna stay here in Twilight Town?" Goofy asked.

"Can't," Yuki shrugged. "Saïx had a point back there. If we linger too long here, they'll find us."

"Man it's gonna suck without you three," Sora sighed. "You guys are capable fighters and it's nice to have a few extra helping hands."

"We don't want to get you involved in our problems," Yuki stated.

I looked at the trio one last time before we had to leave and thought about something for a bit. "You know, I just realized something," I said. "You there's outfits really compliment one another. Y's outfit is white since she tends to side with the light, X's black because he leans a bit towards the darkness, and Yuki is a mix of both colors since she stands both in light and darkness."

The trio blinked in confusion. "Gawrsh, Sakura, I think you went a little too deep there," Goofy scratched his head.

"Did I?" I laughed. "I'm sorry."

"Nah, it's fine," X gave me a lopsided grin.

"But," Sora interjected. "If this Organization 14 gives you guys any trouble, just call out for us and we'll come and help you guys out."

"Thanks," X, Y and Yuki laughed.

Y and Yuki gave us one last hug as farewell while X awkwardly fist-bumped us since he says he didn't feel comfortable hugging us, much to the teasing of his older sister. We then waved goodbye as Sora, Donald, Goofy and I left Twilight Town to board the Gummi Ship.
