Chapter XI

"Life is not a game of luck. It you wanna win, work hard." ~Sora (No Game No Life)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
When we arrived at the next world; Disney Castle. Donald parked the Gummi Ship in some kind of garage. "Here we are," he said.

"Home sweet home, " Goofy added as we got out of the ship.

"So, is this where you guys live?" I asked. "Must be nice to be back home."

Chip and Dale ran up to us. "Chip! Dale!" Donald yelled to the Chip. "How are you two doing?"

Chip screamed, "There's something wrong with the castle! Queen Minnie needs your help!"

"To the library!" Dale shouted. "Hurry!"

They scrambled off and we chased after them, trying to keep up. After a little bit of chasing, we entered a huge library with several paintings in it and a study desk. Donald saluted. "Your Majesty! Queen Minnie! We're back!"

A mouse with a crown on her head, earrings, and a pink and red poofy dress. She smiled, "You're here!"

Goofy saluted, "Your Royal Highness, did ya happen to summon us?"

Sora causally walked up to Donald and Goofy, grabbed their shoulders, and asked, "Where's the King?"

Donald shot him a death glare. I walked up so I was beside Sora and curtsied, hoping he would get the idea. Sora still didn't do anything. I grabbed his hair and yanked him down, forcing him into an awkward bow. "Sora, how thick is that skull of yours?!" I hissed.

"Excuse him," Donald reassured Queen Minnie. "These are our friends, Sora and Sakura."

"Oh, Sora and Sakura!" Queen Minnie cried. "The King has told me all about you two in his letters. He says that you two are very brave kids."

"So, do you know where he is?" Sora asked again.

Queen Minnie shook her head sadly. We slumped. "Your Majesty," Donald said. "What are Heartless doing in your castle?"

"Oh my..." Queen Minnie sighed. "So, those are the Heartless."

"I'm sure we can take care of them Your Majesty," I said while grabbing Sora's shoulders.

"I knew that I could count in you two, Sora and Sakura," Queen Minnie smiled. "Now, there is something that I like all of you to see. Would you please escort me to the audience chamber?"

We saluted a yes. She gasped, "I forgot to tell everyone in the castle about the danger!"

"We'll handle that," Sora volunteered.

"The whole castle?!" I cried.

"We'll all just split up," Goofy suggested.

"Okay," Sora shrugged.

"No, we can't do that!" Donald shouted. "Sora and Sakura will get lost!"

"Okay, then we'll stay with the Queen," I offered.

"Alrighty then, let's get moving!" Goofy and Donald ran off to warn the castle of the Heartless.

"Uh...audience chamber right, ma'am?" Sora asked.

"Yes, Sora," Queen Minnie replied. "Let's be on our way."

We stepped out of the library and into the hallway. "When I found out the castle was in danger, I made sure to seal up this gate so it'll be safe," Queen Minnie explained as she put her hand in front of the door. The door glowed and a small door opened at the corner. We stepped into the audience chamber, which was oddly quiet. Then, a swarm of Heartless came down from above. "Oh no!" She groaned.

Queen Minnie then raised her hand up in the air and a beam of light came down onto the Heartless, destroying some and blinding others. Queen Minnie ran to the throne and tapped a button underneath the armrest. The throne shifted to the side and a hole on the ground was revealed. "The room here is called the 'Hall of the Cornerstone,'" She explained as she stepped onto the staircase. "Our castle has always been safe from worlds that are evil...thanks to the Cornerstone of Light which we keep down there."

We followed Queen Minnie down the stairs. The room after the stairs was filled with giant thorns. There was a marble pedestal with a huge green ball with light swirling around on the inside. "This is the castle's cherished Cornerstone," Queen Minnie said. "But look, the thorns. They must be the work of someone evil. I wonder what his could mean..."

The thorns seemed all-to familiar, which was creeping me out. It was like I seen them before. Then, out of nowhere, green fire appeared and Maleficent came out from it. "Maleficent!" Donald cried.

She turned around and smirked, "Well, well, well. What do we have here...? Isn't it the wretched Keyblade holder, my beloved daughter, ad his pitiful lackeys!"

I rolled my eyes, "Maleficent, how many times do I have to tell you? I AM NOT YOUR CHILD!!!"

"What?! You'll have to deal with me!" Donald tried to hit her with his staff, but he went right through her and hit the marble pedestal instead. It was a message she was sending to us from somewhere else.

"All in good time," she sighed. "I promise you'll be able to partake of my vengeance. But you must be patient."

"Just what are you doing here, Maleficent?" Queen Minnie demanded.

"Ah, Queen Minnie," she scowled. "Radiant, as always. I'm here on a property venture. I want this castle for my own. However, it's a bit too 'bright' for what I have in mind. I suppose I'll have to fill every room with my personal touch of darkness." Maleficent tried to touch the Cornerstone but it had some sort of invisible force field so she couldn't quite touch it.

"You better stop right now if you know what's good for you!" Queen Minnie threatened.

"Ooh, how frightening," Maleficent mocked. "Very well. I'll stop...just as soon as the castle belongs to me!" She disappeared in a green fire portal and her laughter echoed through the castle for quite a while.

"Creepy..." I muttered.

"What a hag," Sora rolled his eyes.

"Nothing like this has ever happened before," Queen Minnie sighed. "I looked through all the records in the library, but I couldn't find a single clue."

"Ohhh!" Goofy yelled. "I have an idea! Why don't we go and ask someone who knows lotsa stuff that isn't in any books!"

"Merlin the Wizard!" Donald shouted, catching into what Goofy was saying.

"Yes, that's perfect!" Queen Minnie cried. "Merlin just might know something about this mess. Let's go ask for his advice!"

"I think he's in Hollow Bastion with the others," I remembered.

"Let's go!" Sora said,

*~*~*~*~*~

We had just landed the Gummi Ship and entered Merlin's house. It was a mess with a bunch of book towers everywhere. "Anybody home?" I yelled.

"Merlin!" Donald shouted.

"The castle's in danger!" Goofy added.

"What's all this racket about?" A voice asked from behind.

We turned around to see Merlin. "Ho-ho!" He laughed. "I thought-oh, it's you! It looks like you've learn a bit since the last time I saw you."

"Really?!" Sora smiled.

"Let's talk about the problem!" Donald screamed. "Maleficent! She's back!"

"Where?" Merlin gasped. "In the castle?"

"Yeah, along with the Heartless too," Goofy gulped.

"Oh, dear..." Merlin said

Donald kept on jabbering as Merlin took out his wand and waved it, teleporting us back to the castle in a puff of smoke. I hit Donald on the head with my fist to shut him up. Donald looked around, trying to figure out what happened. "Perhaps I should look at this myself..." Merlin muttered as he approached the Cornerstone. "Hmm...interesting..."

"How is it?" Queen Minnie gulped.

"This is not good," Merlin sighed. "In fact, I'm afraid, is quite serious."

Merlin turned around and waved his hands, causing a crown-shaped door to appear. "What's that?" Sora asked.

"My boy, that is a gateway to a special world," Merlin replied. "Someone is that world is responsible for what's going on in this castle. Of that, I'm certain."

"Oh boy!" Donald cheered.

"We knew that we could count on you, Merlin," Goofy smiled.

"Okay, then let's go catch him!" Sora said as he placed his hand on the door handle.

"What a minute!" Merlin yelled. "The perpetrators must be stopped, of course. But, there's something else to do first. Somewhere in that world, there should be another door that's identical to this one. I believe that our enemies are utilizing that door. As long it remains open, the castle will be in grave danger. Listen carefully, Sora, Sakura. You must find that door. And when you do-lock it with your Keyblade."

"Got it," Sora and I nodded.

"You can count on us!" Donald puffed his chest with pride.

"One more thing," Merlin said. "You're heading into a very special world. While you're there, the nature of that world may tempt you to do something dark. You must resist that temptation at all costs!"

"What do you mean?" Sora asked.

"You'll know soon enough," Merlin waved it off. "Now, off you go!"

Sora grabbed onto the door handle and pulled it, opening the door. A bright light came from the door and pulled us in. We went through a tunnel of light before spit out somewhere. Goofy got up first. "Hey, look!" He cried. "There's the Cornerstone of Light!"

The Cornerstone was on a hill held up by some rocks. I looked at Sora and he looked different. He was entirely black and white and his body had changed. In fact, everything here was black and white. It was like we in come kind of old-fashioned cartoon. "Hey, why is everything black and white?" I asked. I sounded funny. Like, I was speaking from a old-fashioned T.V.

"This is kinda like...um..." Donald muttered.

"Déjà vu?" Goofy suggested.

"Yeah, that's it!" Donald nodded.

"Really?" Sora asked. "Have you guys been here before?"

A cat in overalls and a small hat ran past us. He turned around. "Hey, you four!" He shouted. "Have you seen any bad guys around here?" Sora, Donald, and Goofy pointed at him.

"Whoa whoa whoa, we shouldn't jump to conclusions," I tried to reason with them.

"Why I oughta!" He shouted, holding up his paws as if they were fists at us. "Bah! I don't have time to waste on punks like you. So I'll go easy on ya."

The cat stomped away. "Why did you--" I demanded.

"That's Pete," Sora explained. "He's Maleficent's henchman. I guess we found our villain."

We followed him to a pier. When we stepped onto the bridge, Pete whipped around and saw us. "What's with you squirts?" He yelled. "You got some bone to pick with me?"

"More than one!" Sora shouted.

A boat whistle was heard somewhere and Pete tried to trace down the sound. We stopped him. Sora drew his Keyblade and hit him in the stomach and Pete flew back. "What's up with you guy's beef with me?!" He shouted. "Wait a second-you four don't look familiar. Are you guys new around here?"

"Cut the act!" Sora rolled his eyes.

A boat whistled again. Pete tried to get up but his back cracked so he sat back down in pain. "You, know, this doesn't feel right," I said. "Are you Pete?"

"Well, of course I'm Pete!" He puffed his chest with pride. "I'm the captain of the steamboat. I gotta go and find that runt who stole my boat!"

"Gwarsh, I think this might be a mistake," Goody whispered.

"You may be right..." Sora muttered. "He hasn't called on any Heartless at all."

We walked back up to Pete. "Sorry we attacked you like that Capt'n Pete," Goofy apologized.

"Well, if you four are really sorry, then go and find my steamboat!" Pete glared.

"Yes sir!" Sora saluted.

We ran back to where the Cornerstone was. "You know, I thought Pete was really the bad guy here," Sora sighed.

"Aw, that would of been too easy," Donald pointed out.

"Come on fellas, let's go and find that steamboat," Goofy said.

"Hold on, we got a door to find!" Donald yelled.

"Oh, yeah!" Sora remembered.

"I don't see any doors around here," Donald sighed. "Hey, what's that?"

Up in front of us was a mini floating stage. Donald pulled on a rope and the stage curtain opened, paying a scene. Oh showed several Heartless heading into four doors. Once they entered, the doors disappeared. Then, we popped out from the door we came from. The scene ended. Donald tried to pull the rope again, but it didn't work. I looked around us to see four doors appearing. "Hey, there are the doors!" I said. One door had a still contacting building symbol, a burning building symbol, a town symbol, and a house symbol.

"Let's go and destroy some Heartless!" Sora shouted.

*~*~*~*~*~

After we dealt with those four doors, a mini stage appeared out of nowhere again. Donald pulled the rope. There was a little flashback with Maleficent and someone who looked like Pete. The door that Merlin summoned to transport us here was in front of them. "Listen well," Maleficent ordered. "This door will take you back to when that wretched castle was still in construction. The Cornerstone of Light, which prevents us from going into the castle, lies on a hill unguarded."

"So...I go in there and do something to it?" Pete asked. "Like, smash it to smithereens?"

"Anything that'll allow me to enter the castle," Maleficent answered. "Don't fail me now."

"Hmm, sounds like and easy plan. You know what, while I'm there, I'll go and get my old steamboat..." Pete turned around to face the door we went into.

The flashback ended right there. "So, in conclusion," I said. "This world is the past? And whatever we do can change the future?"

"Exactly!" Sora shouted.

"Now hold on one second!" Goofy butted in. "Merlin warned us that we have this desire to do something dark. I think that this is the desire. We got to resist it!"

"Well, at least we know it's Pete who took the steamboat," Sora added.

"This doesn't seem right..." Goofy muttered.

"The Pete we met had an attitude, but he didn't seem like a bad guy," I pointed out.

Then, there was Pete by the pier, looking around. He laughed, "Now that castle is as good as ours!"

He ran off. "Now that's the Pete we know!" Sora said.

"Oh no!" Goofy yelled. "The Cornerstone is gone!" We turned to see on the hill where the Cornerstone was it was empty. "Now they're going to fill the castle with darkness!"

"The we better hurry!" I shouted.

Past Pete ran by us. "Hey!" Sora yelled. "Stop!"

"No way, small fry!" He growled. "I finally found the pip-squeak, that took my boat."

"Yeah, it was you!" Sora informed.

"Yes, it was!" Past Pete stopped himself, realizing how illogical it sounded and shook his head. "No no no wait! It's not me! Just somebody who looks like me!"

We followed Past Pete to the pier. There was Present Pete, loading the Cornerstone onto a wooden cage and was making off with it. Sora grabbed onto the hook and I jumped into the cage. "Get the Cornerstone out!" I commanded.

Sora nodded and we began to slash the cage with his Keyblade in his free hand. Pete, hearing the commotion, turned around from the spot he was driving the boat and smirked at us. "So your Maleficent's daughter that she keeps rambling on about," Present Pete smirked.

"I told her before, I AM NOT HER DAUGHTER!!!" I screamed. Sora broke the cage and the top fell off, causing Present Pete to fall into the river. Present Pete swam to the banks, came out from the river and started to run away. "After him!" I yelled.

We ran after him and Present Pete and Past Pete were fighting each other. Present Pete punched Past Pete square on the face. "Ow!" He groaned, rubbing his nose.

"You're still wet behind the ears, eh?" Present Pete mocked.

"Then try us!" Sora taunted.

Present Pete pushed Goofy and Donald aside as he got up into Past Pete's face and went into a fighting position. We helped Past Pete out to fight Present Pete. Present Pete dropped a bunch of small bouncy balls, which turned out to be bombs and exploded after rolling towards us. I held my hands in front of my face to shield myself from the impact.

I then shot a ice chunk at Present Pete which froze him. Sora stabbed him with the hilt of his Keyblade, breaking the ice and causing Present Pete to fly backwards. Present Pete groaned as he raised his hands in the air and summoned up a door like the one we saw in the flashback. Present Pete ran into the door and closed it. "That's right!" Past Pete shouted. "Stay out!"

"Sora! Sakura!" Donald yelped. "The door!"

"Right," we said as we pointed our Keyblades at it. A Keyhole appeared as two beams of light shot put from our Keyblades, locking the door and making it disappear.

"Would somebody tell me what's going on here?" Past Pete demanded. "Who was that creep, anyways?"

"Duh!" Sora rolled his eyes. "It's you from the--" Goofy covered his mouth, muffling Sora's explanation and protests.

"We don't know!" I lied.

"Ugh, never mind then," Pete sighed. "Sorry for putting you four into all that trouble."

"Don't make a habit out of it!" Donald scolded. We giggled.

"Well, as a little treat, I'll let you four pilot my steamboat," Past Pete rubbed the back of his head. "Best thing here in town. My mate Mickey is late anyways."

We all nodded excitingly and Past Pete let us onto the deck. Sora took control of the steamboat and turned the steering wheel. The boat whistled and we were going down the river, all of us laughing.

*~*~*~*~*~

We arrived at the hill where we came from and I helped Sora put the Cornerstone back onto the hill. "There," I smiled. "Good as new!"

"Well, since we are here in the past--" Donald started.

"Donald!" We scolded him.

I grabbed his collar and dragged him with us back through the gate. We popped back into the castle again. "Welcome back!" Queen Minnie smiled. "Thanks to you four, the castle is safe again."

"Now, did any of you four do anything reckless there?" Merlin asked suspiciously.

"Of course not!" Donald replied. Sora, Goofy, and I snickered at his answer.

A duck with a crown on her head and a purple dress peaked at the doorway. Donald turned around. "Daisy!" He cried. They walked up to each other. "Daisy, I'm back!"

"Who?" Sora asked.

"Daisy is Donald's very special sweetheart," Goofy replied.

"Really..." Sora nodded, brow raised.

"Donald!" Daisy scolded. "You forgot about our date again! You better have a good excuse this time! "

"But, Daisy I..." Donald started.

"I know it's an important mission, but you could at least check in every once in a while." Daisy rolled her eyes.

Donald glanced back at us, mentally pleading for us to defend him. We pretended to be busy withe something. Donald glanced at the gate and smirked. "Donald!" Merlin warned.

"Just be a minute," Donald replied, running towards the gate.

"Going somewhere?" Daisy demanded, grabbing onto his tail feathers.

"Of course not!" Donald lied as he pulled her off.

"Donald!" She yelled.

We laughed as Daisy chased Donald around the castle. Our Keyblades glowed and pointed at the Cornerstone of Light. Sora and I glanced at each other and nodded. We pointed our Keybladed at it and we were transported to another dimension. The Cornerstone was still there, floating up in midair. Sora and I pointed our Keyblades at it again and two beams of light shot put and hit the Cornerstone. That's when my vision came to me. I was in front of a big weaving. Pointing my Keyblade at the weaving, I wove out the dark threads. Then, I wove back in new thread which was colorful and sparkly. I was pulled out of my vision.

Sora went up to Daisy. "We need Donald for a little while longer," Sora said to her.

"How much longer?" She asked.

"Uh..." Donald stammered.

"Don't worry, I'll come back and visit," Donald reassured her.

"Really?" She said. "Thanks, Donald!"
