Chapter V

"Sometimes, we don't realize that the most important people in our lives are right under our noses." ~A quote by me

I entered my room in the Haunted Mansion, preparing to pack what little items I had when I noticed, sitting on my bed were some folded clothes. There wasn't a note to who it was from, so I didn't know if Ansem or DiZ got it for me. Regardless, I changed out of my old clothes into my new ones. The new outfit given to me consisted of a black shirt that was parted at the ends with a white collar and a red bow and a white band on my left shoulder. The shirt had white outlines for the collar, sleeves, and shirt. Along with the top came a matching skirt with dark grey thigh-high stockings with black shoes.

As soon as I fitted my new clothes on me, a Corridor of Darkness opened in my room and Ansem came through it. "Come with me," he said.

"...I thought I had to go to the Mysterious Tower?" I blinked.

"Come with me," he repeated once more.

I sighed, throwing the black coat on once more and entering the Corridor of Darkness and traveling through the void of blue that had lines of shifting colors until Ansem led me through a Corridor of Darkness he had open and I stepped through it.

I stood with the hooded Ansem while Naminé sat on a bench and Axel leaned over the fence.  We were on a fenced hilltop near the train station in Twilight Town. "Guess that's that." Axel said as soon as he heard us exit through the portal and Ansem closing it.

"Let's go," Ansem instructed.

"Go where?" Axel asked. "It's not like we got homes to return to. We don't exist, remember?"

"Yes, it's true," Naminé interrupted. "We may not have homes, but there IS someplace I want to go. And...someone I want to see." She clutched the drawing in her sketchbook of Sora holding Roxas' hand tighter.

"Same here," Axel sighed sadly. "So, you think you might let us go? I know you are here to get rid of us, but..."

"DiZ? Wants to get rid of me?" Naminé asked, in shock while clutching her sketchbook even tighter.

"Go," Ansem said.

"Are you sure about this?" Axel asked a little anxiously.

"We owe you both," Ansem replied.

"For what?" Naminé said.

"Castle Oblivion. You helped us all." Ansem explained.

"Heh," Axel laughed. "You don't have to tell me twice." He summoned up a Corridor of Darkness.

Naminé glanced at the portal, then back at us, then back at the portal. Axel nodded, signaling her that it was okay for her to go in. "Thank you," she whispered as she nervously got off the bench and entered the portal.

Axel faced us before turning to enter the portal, "Axel, wait!" I cried.

He turned to me. This may be my only chance to ever tell him this, before we have to consider each other enemies. I opened my mouth to tell him what I wanted to say to him for the longest time...but nothing came out of my mouth. My heart wanted to say the words, but my tongue refused to do the job.

"Cat got your tongue?" Axel chuckled as he ruffled my hair. "Close your mouth before you attract flies."

Axel entered the Corridor of Darkness and it closed disappearing. My face burned red with shame. Why couldn't I say it to him? It was a simple two-word statement, but I just couldn't say it. Something inside me prevented me from saying those words to Axel.

I stretched, slipping the coat off and handing it back to Ansem. "I don't think I'll be needing this anytime soon and I don't want to scare Sora into thinking that I'm part of the Organization," I explained.

Ansem nodded as he took my folded coat. 'Well, I better be going to the train station," I said as I began to head off.

"Saki, wait," Ansem called for me.

I turned to see that he placed a pouch in my hand. "Your train fare," he stated.

"Oh," I laughed as I pocketed the munny. "Silly me. How am I to ride the train if I can't pay?"

I left the fenced hilltop to the train station, leaving Ansem all alone before he too left through a Corridor of Darkness.
