98- Is It Fair...?
(Author's Pov.)
The court was in chaos. Utter chaos. Everyone took their sweet time to process how Miss. Kumari is related to all of this mess.
Uditashree, as the interrogation continued, she kept on becoming more confident and Mina, on the other hand, kept getting existential crisis.
"Miss. Kumari, before letting you again in the opposition side, I would like you to ask you the last question."
She takes a dramatic pause and expressions that of an devil, before asking her that last question. She knew that if she asked this question, Mina would totally break down.
"I heard that you always had a beef with Miss. Vaishnavi Narsule since your college days. Please tell the court why."
This was totally personal question. But this question will help her to reach the conclusion of her questioning.
If she answered the same way, Vaishnavi and Uditashree thought she would do, Mina would put not only herself in danger but also her representing party in abyss.
Seeing her emotional state right now as she stood in the box, they overjoyed because they knew that they have conquered her mind, sucked out the practicality and rationality, and overdosed it emotionality.
Being too emotional is never bad. It's good that one person is expressive and knows themselves well. But you should drive your emotions, emotions shouldn't drive you. Mina does not knows how to lead her emotions even though in a professional setting, she controls herself. Both of them, Vaishnavi and Uditashree took advantage of that fact.
And on top of that, in a professional setting, especially when you are defending someone, being overly emotional is not a smart move.
"Because my sister, Miss. Keertika Kumari, without any complaints or without any remorse, left me with Mrs. Meenakshi Saka. Instead of raising me, she was looking after Miss. Narsule.
I was left in the custody of Mrs. Saka when my biological sister was alive. And then, are accepted me to have her surname and her legacy. That was not right.
Singhania family gave what I needed the most. The love of family. But now I know, it was all fake. They had an intention behind it.
I knew they were using me, but I couldn't back out. I came to know about it, when the third hearing was getting closer. There was something which I was missing. Or something which they haven't told me.
Till I gathered all the pieces, as I know all their dirty works, it was already the time when the dates of last hearing were given. It was too late to back off.
But I could have. Now when I stand here, I feel that I should have backed off. But I couldn't. Because if I know their dirty works, they could've somehow made me fall into their traps with them. They are very good at doing that.
It was too late."
She snifs as she feels her voice was breaking up. She takes few seconds to relax her throat down, before speaking again.
She was crying, she wasn't calm. All her glory, slipped away because she took the wrong, against the wrong competitor.
She was wronged. Terribly wronged. And for that, she had everyone's sympathy. But even after knowing that, she continued fighting for
Her abandoning her sense, and doing what her heart, her intuitions told her not to do, took away all the sympathy and the side of the law too.
She tampered and broke the rules of law and got caught too while doing so.
"I had just one option. To go to Vaishnavi and tell her the truth to save myself from this mess. But before I could reach to her, Singhania's caught me and threatened me with the same thing I was afraid off.
They made me write the post to expose Miss. Vaishnavi to be daughter of Miss. Meenakshi Ravin and Mr. Saka, the same people who raised me as if I was their own daughter."
Uditashree felt bad for her. And at the same time, she was irritated by the fact that she was taking her own sweet time to explain herself.
But then, she patiently waited for her to speak the entire thing. She patiently waited for her to say that one statement which would make her fall down very hard.
She has already fell down. But this blow would make her lose all her credibility.
And she finally said that.
" 'Miss. Meenakshi Ravin and Mr. Saka, the same people who raised me as if I was their own daughter '.
Your honour, does not this make the opposition lawyer not worth to fight for her party for the same reasons you dismissed Miss. Narsule from her position?
Is it fair to let her fight when Miss. Narsule is just biological daughter of Ravin family but Miss. Kumari has been raised by them?
The difference is, I hope, very clear."
Here, comes the sweet attack which the team was waiting for.
The loud whisperers and protestes from the audience was back after Uditashree completed her statement. But who knew, that this attack, Mina had defending weapon.
That defending weapon would not clear the accusations which she has. But definitely, would remove some months or years of her punishments.
Mina was smart. Yes, she had an emotional burst out. But after she heard the statement of Uditashree, she immediately came back to her senses and thought of she could save herself.
She knew that this trap which they created for her, she was deadly but at least if she gives out one of the most important clue of this case to them, they would go a little easy on her.
Mercy would not be granted to her soo easily, especially by the Vaishnavi's team but what if she diverted their attention and that gives them some results.
Vaishnavi's team is behind Singhania family from last few hearings which highlights the fact that they think the family is at fault (that they are) and someone of them is the mastermind.
That assumption of them, was good for her as she thought she would not get trapped in this mess. But as if in the deepest trouble, even more than Vihaan Singhania, she decided to use a very important information.
She knew the moment, the judge orders the audience to keep shut, the very next moment, he will dismiss her from the case. And before, that happens she has to say something. So, she shouts.
She shouts, before the judge orders the audience.
"Your honour, please before you dismiss me from the case, I would like to say something."
The eagerness in her voice and her body language highlighted how important it is for her to say this.
The judge, paused and examined her. After few seconds of silence, he allowed her to speak.
The audience stayed in complete silence as they did not want to miss any other development of twists in the plot because of their talking.
And the entire team, grew tense at her defence.
"Everyone here thinks, you, your honour, Vaishnavi's team and also, the audience, that someone from the Singhania family is the mastermind behind this entire crime.
You all think that someone from Singhania's is using the already established Ravin Gang's power to their disposal from the last two decades."
She takes a dramatic pause now. Her eyes goes through the court to search for someone as she continues.
"But what if I tell you that's not the case. Singhania's are only the pawns of this Sweet Revenge, just like I am. The mastermind..."
The moment her eyes lays on the person she was searching for, she smiled weirdly. No one could tell whether it was an evil one, sarcastic one, sympathy one or sad one. All they could see is how she was looking at Vaishnavi as if this news was going to break Vaishnavi down more than it did break down Mina.
"The mastermind is much closer to Vaishnavi than that person is to me...."
