66- Identity.

"She isn't my sister. My family once again lied to me."

Was I frustrated...? I was definitely frustrated but instead of asking 'what the hell you are talking' or 'why are you talking like that', I asked him whether he is sure about what he said now.

"Are you like 100% sure that she isn't your sister...? I guess you are sure as you went in the dna lab to take a test, right...? What did the test showed...?"

He looked surprised by my sudden question and even I was surprised. I am definitely not that person who will easily trust anyone, but here we are talking kairav, a person whom I know from my childhood.

"I took two dna test. The first test was between my grandaunt and Uditasree. I did that to check whether they are related or not."

"Wait. Why the first test is of your grandaunt and Uditasree. Shouldn't it be you and her...?"

I immediately asked making him sigh. He got up from his chair and went to his desk to pick up a file. That file belongs to a hospital as it had a hospital name on top of it.

"This are the reports from the hospital in Meghalaya, where I was born and even she was born, according to my parents."

I read the reports with wide-eyes. When I was finally done reading it, I looked at him with a look which indirectly told him to continue talking.

"As you read, my grandaunt was never fertile enough to carry a baby and that's the reason why her husband gave her divorce which is a very stupid reason but I am happy that my grandaunt doesn't have to live with that bastard who thinks, 'women-are-just-birth-giving-machines'

She didn't even had 0.000001% of chance to bear a child. Her uterus was very small and weak for it."

Conservative Indians think that women are just born to give birth, sit in the homes and do house chores. As people here think that a girl child is equal to liability and hence, this mentality encourages people to opt for illegal and inhumane acts like female infanticide and female foeticide. This two inhumane acts have a very high percentage in india, even in the modern days.

This mentality have been changing but not drastically as still there are many people who think like that. It's shame, not the girls who are dying before they even see the world, but to the people who do that. They kill a female child and pray to a female goddess, such an irony.

"I agree this records can make you think as if she is not your sister but kairav this aren't sufficient evidence to prove that she isn't your sister, I know you also know that.

It might be easier if you would have took your and hers parental tes-"

"Who said I didn't took the test, I did that vaishnavi, I did that. I took the parental test but something happened. Something which made me shake from the core of my body."

The way he was saying that, was very terrifying. It looked like he found something very big, something which will change his life forever. Or it might have already change his life.

"Before telling what happened and what I found from the second test, let me tell you what I found from that first test.

At first, I thought of doing a test with the help of my father but then, i couldn't go and visit him in the jail as it can create havoc.

So I took a maternal dna test between them and it turns out that they aren't even 0.1% related."

I was surprised but here, we are talking about maternal dna test and not paternal one so I had my own doubts build in my head.

Before speaking, I took the first dna test reports from his hands and started reading them.

"Kairav, I am not doubting your capability or criticizing your decision to take this test but logically speaking, maternal tests aren't that accurate as they can only help and identify the X chromosomes, not the Y chromosomes. Because of that, they can show variety of genes which can lead to confuse when the thinks come to the determination of what heritage the person has.

That's the reason why doctors prefer to take a parental dna test is because males have both X Chromosomes and Y Chromosomes. That makes it easier to compare between two individuals."

I told him whatever I knew about genetics. I was taking a look at the first dna test, when I heard him sigh. I looked up at him with confusion plastered on my face.

"I sincerely admit that I didn't knew about how genetics work before applying for the maternal test but later when I came to know about whatever you said right now, I decided to take the second dna test, but this time a parental one.

But before that, as you know about genetics more than me and also, as I forgot to ask the doctor about it, do you think that surrogacy can change genes...?"

The answer to this question is very simple, No.

"No, it's impossible. In surrogacy, the women who is carrying the child, will only provide the unborn child will food and other necessities but the genes and the heritage the unborn child has, will be of the people who provided eggs and sperms for this process.

There is a term called, 'genetic error', which happens due to various aspects but in surrogacy, it doesn't as the doctors check everything beforehand."

He nodded as picked that second test reports and passed me. I was confused as why there are three papers instead of just one.

"Vaishnavi, the reason why there are three papers is because of my mistake. I don't know whether I should be happy because of my mistake, or should be sad. I just don't know."

The three papers were in front of me as I looked at them with horror plastered on my face.

One paper, shows how unrelated that person is to kairav and the saka family, and the other one showed how much purely that person is related to the family and kairav.

Kairav and the person in the first paper, just have 0.1% gene similarity whereas the person in the second paper, has 99% gene similarity with kairav, which is very surprising.

"Yes, you are right, the person who is not related to me, is Uditasree as the hair strands and the details match with the first test which I took whereas the person who is related to me. The person whose genetic history is on the second paper, is my real sister."

The whole room fell in silence after he was done speaking. I can understand how terrible he must feeling right now. For God knows, how many days, weeks or years, he thought that she was his sister but then the dna tests is showing the total opposite of what he was told.

When he finally thought that he found his sister and would do anything to protect her from his mother's family, whose background is still unknown to me but the description he gave on the revelation day was enough for me to know that they are very dangerous people.

"If Uditasree isn't related to you, then who is...? I mean who this person is...?"

He sighed for the nth time but this time it wasn't just in frustration but also in worry.

"I don't know."

The situation was already baffled but his words me look at him ridiculously. I mean how can I not when the person who took the samples for the dna testing, doesn't know whose sample he took.

"How come you don't know...? Weren't you the one who took samples for the test...?"

He looked like he would any minute slamm his own head on the wall because of what all was happening today.

"Listen to me carefully. I don't know whether it was coincidence or what, but now where my foster parents live, is where she also live.

Remember when I told you that they have decided to rented the room above, to a bachelor person with a clean criminal record. Also, I told you that they found the right person and they were happy as that person is from law field."

I nodded as I get what he implying on but this coincidence case, isn't it too unreal to be real. I have many doubts but instead of asking them to him, I decided to keep quite as his mood and the atmosphere around wasn't that pleasant.

"It was Uditasree. So with the help of my mom, I got her hair strands."

I looked at him with a gaze which he immediately understood what's the meaning behind it.

"I saw it from my own eyes. She took and directly gave it to me. I was hesitant to go in her room as it's not appropriate so I told my mom to do it while I was standing outside the doors watching her every movement."

I know I shouldn't doubt on those people who took care of Kairav for his protection but as I said earlier today, sometimes our eyes can also betray us.

"I know I invaded her privacy and I could easy say that I did this because it was necessary but I will not say that. I have done wrong and if she wants to punish me, she can go ahead, and do that. I ready to take any kind of punishment."

His words made me smile. They are many less people who are ready for aftermath of thier acts and surely Kairav is one of them.

"If you saw by your own eyes, then how come this happened...?"

He thought for a while as he was interpreting the situation himself before telling me what possibly might have happened.

"Someone knew that I will be again testing and also the person who knows about my real sister. That person somehow added my real sister's hair strands into that bag of strands which only had uditasree's hair strands."

'Is he dumb or what..?', were the only sentence which came into my mind after listening to what he got to say.

"How come you are soo sure that someone added that hair strand there..? And if really someone have did that, then how come this person have added the strands of your real sister, instead of scamming the reports. Wouldn't it be easy if he had scammed this damn reports..? Or wait, who know that this reports are really the scammed one which will force you to believe the fake news, and will hide the truth."

My lawyer instincts were back to its place as I keep on asking him questions. Not just my lawyer instincts but also, my anger is back as I busted my emotions out. Even though, my body was reacting emotionally but my words were logical.

My eyes went wide and my heart beats started beating faster as I was afraid. The moment he slammed his hands on the desk while anger clearly seen on his face.

"Vaishnavi, do you know why I went to that mere government hospital lab even when I knew that reports can get scammed...? I could have gone to an private hospital, that could have been better as my identity and profile would be safe but no, I took a risk and went to an government hospital..? Because that whole side of the hospital which people think that it's for research purpose, it's actually a base for undercover agents created by the government."

An undercover base for agents...? That means-

"Yes, Miss. Narsule that means only selective people can go there. The reason why you trespassed the undercover agents's territory was because of me. I knew you were following me."

They didn't lied when they said that sometimes even after knowing a person for a very long, you would fail to recognise who they actually are because a person mind is unpredictable and emotions can be easily hide.

"That also means that I am one of the undercover agents. That's my identity."
