PROLOGUE

I looked up at the Alpha looming over me, his shadow foreboding, eyes cold. I could feel his fist in my hair, tightening with every harsh breath that left his mouth. 

In that moment, all I could feel was the life that was left in my body, slowly begin to fade into nothingness. The stillness in my fingers, the numbness in my legs, all receding into my chest where my heart was beating slower and slower.

My eyes felt heavier as the seconds ticked on by, my vision of his face becoming a blurred silhouette. His eyes darkened in a fury as his grip in my hair tightened, expectantly waiting on my answer. I winced as the pain shot through my head, the ringing in my ears deafening.

"I told you already..." I whispered brokenly before choking on the blood flooding my lungs, feeling the warm liquid run down my cheek. "I...I don't... k-know what happened," squeezing my eyes tight as the choked words hurt, my lungs squeezing tight in a wasted effort to draw air in, "P-please just..." I begged as my eyes began rolling back already, trying to fight the darkness that threatened to take over.

Forcing my eyes open, the heaviness settling deep in my chest as the little black dots trickled in quicker from the corners of my eyes, I could see no resolution in the alphas eyes. Nothing I had said made a difference. The pain in my hair receded for a second as I watched his arm draw back, and then launch forward.

My head hit the ground with a sickening crack, the pain shooting right through me as the blackness rushed in, the ringing in my ears a toll for my death.

I didn't bother moving. I couldn't feel anything anymore. I had lost everything in a single moment. I felt myself letting go as I had nothing left to live for. I let the darkness creep in and swallow me hoping for an end.

Please. Please let this be it.
