Chapter 2: The Number
Just as the sickening feelings came, they vanished like the smoke of a fire that had been put out. I took the money and put it in my wallet. After that, I grabbed some clothes and went to shower. Xzavier's eyes burned in my mind, but they disappeared just as my feelings had. I turned on the water and stepped in, rinsing off my unhappy thoughts and watching them swirl down the drain with the water.
After I'd gotten done, I put on my dark blue skinny jeans, plain white t-shirt, and black converse. I smiled at myself in the mirror. "No ones gonna find out," I said to myself, giggling slightly.
I dried my hair and curled it loosely and grabbed my purse. But as I turned toward the door, I saw another envelope. Hm..? I thought. I walk over and picked it up, curious and slightly jumpy. It had no name, no address, nothing. "I normally only get one," I said, half to myself.
I rip it open carefully. But, as I look at the torn envelope, there is no letter on the inside. I turn it over and a scrap of paper falls out, twisting and flipping around toward the ground. Confused, I bend over and pick it. On the small paper is a phone number. I turn the paper over and nothing appears on the back. I look to the envelope for more answers of who's number was it, who sent it, and why did I receive it. But, nothing was found.
I sigh and keep the paper in my pocket. "I'll check it out later," I whisper to myself before walking toward the door.

"Here's your bagel and hot chocolate, miss!" A cherry waitress says, setting down my plain bagel and mug of hot chocolate. I nod and smile at her. Charlotte Honors. I think as she walks away, her long blond hair waving back and forth as she leaves.
You few days more. I eat my bagel happily and sip at my hot chocolate. The heat is so hot that my tongue is numb after I swallow the sweet drink. 'Ouch!' My wolf yelps. I roll my eyes and continue on. 'It's not funny, Emma.' She growls.
Will you relax? It's only hot for one minute, I snap back at her. I hear nothing more from her, indicating that she was pouting. I should probably listen to my wolf more often, but you have to be able to know who's in charge when. And for now, I am. After I'm done, I leave a tip for Charlotte and get up to leave.
I'm sorry I snapped, I thought back to her quietly. No answer. I rolled my eyes and walked outside into the cool air. It was just beginning to become November and the trees that were once painted red, orange, and fiery yellow now lay their leaves on the ground and let he wind sweep them away, dancing in the wind. My fingers tuck a strand of my auburn hair behind my ear. My finger tips brush over my little tattoo I have hidden behind my ear, which is shaped like a crescent moon and filled in completely black.
No one ever sees it, and I feel like it's a secret that only I know. When I walk outside, the autumn air chills my skin for a second.
